Dream works is honestly goated when it comes to series, all of the how to train your dragon movies amazing, all the kung fu panda movies amazing and surprisingly even all the shrek movies including the fourth one were hilarious and hold up really well. Dreamworks is peak

I genuinely love all four movies 'cause each of them has their own original story to them it really gives a fresh take on Shrek each time 😁😁
I love that even after four movies they kept up the hype and the heart. Most movies get bad after the second one but shrek really pushed through all of them
The third doesn't have the same shine to me, maybe because I feel strong secondhand embarassment from the humour in that one instead of being able to laugh. But the fourth is the only movie with the 'remove everything that happened' trope that I like, both because it's Shrek and because it actually profoundly changed something, that being the main character.
BILLY. There was an END CREDIT SCENE for the LAST MOVIE that showed Dragon appearing at Far Far Away and surprising Donkey with their kids. Also, the fact that the kids were present in the first bedroom scene and you somehow completely missed them was crazy.
Plus, in the last movie Donkey hints that Dragon has been moody and is why he is at Shrek’s. That’s an early hint.
Artie screaming for help because Shrek was trying to relate to him might be my favorite joke in this film.

So yeah, Tangled can be the "original" history for Rapunzel in the same way every single person takes the Disney's Cinderella as the original too

At my dentist when I was a kid, they will have movies play on monitors for kids to watch as the dentists are doing their work. One time, they had this movie playing. At this appointment, we found out that I had my first cavity. With that, they needed to do some drilling to put the filling in. When this was happening, as they had me breathing in the laughing gas, the song Donkey and Puss were singing during these credits was playing. Especially as the drilling happened. Ever since then, every time I hear this song, I feel the pain of the drilling come back in my tooth.

Not sure if someone already said, but the song Donkey was singing is Cat's in the Cradle by Harry Chapin. It's about a dad who's always too busy for his son, and then the son grows up and is too busy for his dad.
Dreamworks for laughing and Pixar for crying
I love Dreamworks more than Pixar, simply because it's basically impossible to do something more epic than Prince of Egypt or Kung Fu Panda. Dreamworks also the more memorable soundtracks. But, honestly, Dreamworks and Pixar are both great storytellers. and any company that takes storytelling seriously gets my respect.
I just want to say that I went through a rly rough breakup in march and didn’t feel safe at all when I left that relationship...so I was in the house a lot, literally hiding from my ex. I was super depressed, hardly slept and felt paranoid constantly. I found your channel during that time and it made me feel SO safe, comforted and made me laugh a ton. I’m doing a lot better than I was in march but I still continue to watch your videos and always will, and they still make me feel safe, comforted and laugh. just…thank you so much, Billy 🥲🫶🏽🖤

you should defs do the 4th one, I was skeptical about it for a long time cause it wasn't as slapstick or humour focused compared to the others but the breakdown from Schaffrillas Productions really made me think about it differently and actually appreciate the Shrek and Fiona love story that was missing from this third movie. His video is called "Why Shrek Forever After is an Underrated Gem"

9:45, he was a pirate and Peter Pan thought it would be fun to fight pirates, so Pan cut his hand off and fed it to a crocodile. Because of that the pirate captain replaced his hand with a hook, hence his nickname Captain Hook, and the same crocodile ever since hunted down Hook to eat the rest of him so Captain Hook wanted to kill Peter Pan for revenge.

I legit didn't know people hated 3 & 4. I thought they were all great especially the 3rd & 4th. The 2nd movie was my least favourite cause I was a kid, most jokes flew over my head.

I love the Shrek franchise! It's so hard to pick an absolute favorite. But I'd probably pick the first as my number 1. But I do love 2 and 3 about equally. I hope you continue on to the 4th. I wouldn't say it's better than the others, but it's a funny work of art, and I think you'd enjoy it.
I know the frog king dying was supposed to be sad but him dying and coming back to life was hilarious as fuck. This had me like “Are you gonna die or not? Make up your mind” Lmao
I feel like that scene is sadder the second time you watch the film. The first time, you're too preoccupied laughing at the gag to really feel anything. But once you've got that out of your system, the scene gets its chance to feel a bit more emotional.

Pixar has really good films but I have to give it to Dreamworks. The Prince of Egypt, The Road to El Dorado, Saving Private Ryan, Chicken Run, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events all easily top my favourite films list for how much effort is put into the artwork and the designs and the settings.

12:12, it’s explained in the original book upon which the first movie is based. Shrek’s parents were a pair of ogres who raised him to live in his own filth and be as scary as possible and then they decided he was old enough to terrorize villagers on his own so they “kicked him goodbye” and they went their separate ways.
I feel like I need to read the book someday. I'm sure it's completely different from the movie, but just the fact that I enjoy the Shrek films so much, the book seems like something that I should at least check out at some point on principle alone.

Yeah, many say Shrek 3 is the weakest of the Shrek movies (and they're not wrong) but I still like it. Simple fact, it's hilarious, the movie made me laugh most of its runtime. And that's why I never really hated this movie like so many others do.
9:42 One of the biggest reasons Captain Hook wants revenge against Peter Pan is that as a ‘joke’, Peter cut his hand on purpose and fed it to the infamous crocodile who now haunts and pursues Hook wherever he goes. Hook fed the crocodile a clock, but now every time he hears ticking he gets anxious because it could be the last thing he hears.
And because Peter is a forever child, he’s never recognized, apologized, or even atones for that. In the original play when Hook realized he can never win against him, he jumps into the sea where the crocodile is willingly. Like…that’s SAD.
