I've always liked how they actually aged the characters in these movies instead of just keeping them as kids. You really see their growth and development as they mature
Nah the issue is that's actually a plot hole, the helmet was in ice cold salt water for hours, if it's metal or wood the only thing it would smell like is salt...
@@elywahl9520it’s not a plot hole actually we don’t know how strong a dragons sense of smell is and if you watch any like cop shows and stuff they use dogs to follow really old smells

And skullcrusher has been around hiccup or things that are hiccup for ages. And if you watch Race to the Edge you can see just how good ofsmelling capabilities he has. So politely stfu and do more research
I actually really appreciate how they make hiccup stutter, talk around questions, and generally be so unsure of himself. I can’t help but do the same things, and it was lovely to see a character with the same speech problems as me, especially when I was younger. It also feels more realistic than characters just talking perfectly all the time
Amazing how all the "plotholes" Alex points out aren't even plotholes if you pay attention to the movie, but the one true plothole in the movie he just doesn't notice; How does Draco manage to fly Toothless if Hiccup's pegleg is basically the key and mechanism that allows Toothless to fly at all?
iirc in one of the shows like race to the edge or something he makes toothless a tail that toothless can control flying himself but i thought it was a prototype toothless destroyed
@@chuulitoothless never wanted to keep that one, so the one in this movie would be the “lock and key” with the peg leg. That’s why in the third movie Hiccup had to recreate the automated tail
In the shows and I think even the third movie it's shown that others can fly Toothless, so long as he has someone on him to make the tail function even a bit he can fly, but Hiccup is the only one who can do it well enough to let Toothless show his true potential speed and agility. Notably, This guy never does anything particularly fast or impressive while riding Toothless, it's more a status symbol and way to keep whats essentially a hostage close than anything
I love that song so much! It's been part of my spotify playlist since the day I watched the movie and it's gonna be in my wedding. Just ALL the feels every single time.
This movie literally had so many plot twists from their insane glow ups to literally finding and losing a parent all in the span of like, an hour and a half. Rocked me to the core when I first watched it, still one of my most favorite movies.
Fun fact! You can see the glow ups in the Netflix parts of the Series. The series as a whole is also a necessary watch to both bridge the span of time between the movies and explain quite a lot of stuff from the movie. And it's really good as well! Especially that ending! I would not have been mad if they just ended the story there!
@@BasicallyBaconSandvichIVRace to the Edge is one of my favorite shows. And not favorite kids shows or anything, straight up top 5. I regularly rewatch it
“By the power of happenstance, baby dragons don’t listen to the alpha.” Obviously, Alex has never been around babies before as this is the most accurate a movie has ever been.
I call bs at that working against literal mind control. If being defiant is all it took, why was he able to control toothless and make him try to kill hiccup?
@@D3viant517 its less mind control and more persuasion. Bewilderbeast dragons, the big dragons in the movie, have the power of persuasion and any distraction, will power, the actual call of the alpha (as seen when toothless takes away the control from the other dragons), all of these things affect the influence this dragon has over the others, Thts why they were considered the alphas even tho they are not. The Night Furies are....little fun fact, the big dragon in the 1st movie, The Red Death, is a sub-species of the bewilderbeast dragons, thts why it 'controlled' the dragons to make tht whole nest becuz it has similar powers. tl:dr. this movie has a lot of lore and worldbuilding tht enriches the experience.
That and The Croods, where toddlers are basically vicious little wild animals lol. Anyone who's ever babysat a 3-year old who likes biting people can relate 😂
@@juliawirz336 ik there's an explanation it's just not a particularly robust one, still a good movie but it feels like a holdover from her prior antagonistic role during development (which was more interesting imo)
I absolutely love the second movie. If the first is about understanding and empathy towards your "enemies", the second one teaches you that some are not worth our mercy and empathy, and we need to be willing to fight them for our friends and families. It's like the opposite of Hiccups ideals and he learnt it the hard way by losing his father.
Yeah, second movie definitely teaches you that. Which is why Hiccup absolutely doesn't repeat any of his old mistakes all over again in the third movie.
@@maryannclementiii-uw5pk That's the one thing that made me really dislike the third movie. Also how the badguy at the end says, "All this for a stupid dragon!?" when this dude is literally about to plummet to his death OVER A DRAGON! It's also nuts that Hiccup doesn't bother to be like "He's not just some dragon, he's my friend" when the series hammers in the "power of friendship" message in every change it gets
httyd did a good job at showing that you can always start with a peaceful friendly solution and try super hard, but that if others aren't gonna change their minds, it's ok to use force because they can't be redeemed
I remember being so pissed at Hiccup for his decisions in this movie even as a 15 year old. Watching them again later really showed me how much depth there is in Hiccup's character. This whope movie was surrounding his challenge of being a leader and making hard decisiona for his people, something that he unfortunately learned the hard way.
Honestly, httyd 2 is my favorite one out if the three. It's just something about that really hits you in the feels and is extremely epic at the same time.
Yup, HTTYD 2 is the only film I’ve ever seen that explores this philosophy correctly. In Harry Potter if you use the killing curse, even in self defense, then the laws of the world curse you. (Actually, I think I’ve read up on it and self defense is like the one exception. But you’re not allowed to use it to protect your friends from someone harming them.) Unless you personally are in immediate danger, you will get the unforgivable curse. Star Wars has a similar thing. Unless you do some fancy maneuver to deflect the Emperor’s attacks perfectly, killing the Emperor for any reason, including self defense, will make it where YOU become the Emperor. And I’ve seen this stupid kind of thing in countless pieces of media countless times. I blocked them mostly out of my head because of how childish the writing is when I see it, but when two of the most popular franchises use it, you know it’s mainstream. A lot of times it comes in the form of the heroes winning a fight saying “I’ll spare them since I don’t want to stoop to their level”. And then 2 minutes after being spared, the villain attacks again, because why wouldn’t they? They’ve been trying to accomplish their goals for countless years, why would they pass up an opportunity for a rematch? And then the villain dies on their own. Think of The Lion King where the villainous hyenas kill Scar or Beauty and the Beast where Gaston just falls. I give Harry Potter and Star Wars as my first examples because they outright state protecting people is wrong. Meanwhile things like The Lion King only seem to hint at that conclusion. (Idk if you can tell, but I absolutely love HTTYD 2. Imagine being able to convey a complex message so perfectly in a way that kids can comprehend.)
Good to see Alex blatantly ignoring details of the movie, such as Stoick using Hiccup's lost helmet as a scent marker for his bloodhound of a dragon to track Hiccup down.
Yeah, I've noticed he's getting a bit CinemaSins-esq with leaving out plot stuff for the sale of a quick joke/running bit. I'm hoping maybe it's just him not being able to remember every single detail or just plain brain farted during script writing
and him saying valka just,,left on her own, instead of what really happened which is her getting taken back to the dragons nest by cloudjumper because cloudjumper thought she belonged there, and she stayed away because she thought it was what was best for her son and didn't want him to be in danger
Yeah I hope he doesn’t get as bad as Nostalgia Critic! After that Doug’s awful Pirates of the Caribbean reviews I unsubscribed. I really hope Alex doesn’t get as bad as that.
@@DunjeeTime He's always kind of done that, but I started really noticing it when he did Uglies. Tons of his commenters think the whole story is just like "derp, pretty girls are stupid." When the story is "this horrible dystopian society is forcing cosmetic surgery on people as an excuse to implant lesions in their brains while they're knocked out that make them easier to control." Idk, feels like there's a subtle difference between those two takes. But the most CinemaSins thing about Alex is that people are starting to judge movies and shows they haven't seen based on his videos alone. And they barely even realize when the movie they're talking about is based on a book, so they're just walking around spreading misinformation about shit they've never even come close to experiencing. The irony is that both Alex and CinemaSins appear to be fairly liberal. Yet their content is progressively feeling more and more akin to those "X movie/game/TV show is WOKE TRASH" videos that you see littered across UA-cam whenever literally anything new comes out. I once saw a 2-hour video about Spider-Man 2 where the guy spent the first 30 minutes saying it's unrealistic for the guy who calls himself the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man to ever stop briefly in Central Park to speak with a black man. The fuck comics is this guy reading? 100k subscribers. Alex is too good to be jumping on this dumpster fire trend of hating everything.
I loved the abrupt cuts between “Yeah and then like Stoic dies” *cuts to the most depressing visuals, eulogy, and music* “And now Berk is in danger caus he’s just like the king of all dragons now”
For me too! Though after watching the series I gained just a smidge more appreciation for it, it was a necessary part of Hiccups arc to accept he need to become the Chief.
Valka didn't run away. Cloudjumper (the dragon in the flashback) kidnapped her from her home when Stoic tried to save her and Hiccup from Cloudjumper. She did, however, stay away of her own choice once she learned to ride and befriend the dragons.
Part of the reason is had the “trying to expand the world too quickly problem” is because they used multiple shows to do it in between. Primarily it was “Race to the Edge” on Netflix that brought us to the second movie (a solid show all around).
I was looking for this comment. Like the flaming sword and Hiccup's mum taking the King of Dragons egg in the last episode...all of this set the scene for the 2nd movie

"And sequels are always better than the original, right?" Normally I'd agree with the sarcasm, but this is a rare case in which I believe it actually _is_ better than the original. It's visually impressive, the stakes are higher, the emotional moments hit hard. HTTYD 2 is my favorite animated movie of all time.
I agree, somehow Dreamworks sequels are some of the best movies I’ve ever watched, my number one favorite movie in the world is Kung Fu Panda 2 and it really inspired me to write my own stories even more than before. I still cry at the end. I wish I had become a Kung Fu Panda fan earlier so I could have seen it in theaters.
Same, that second movie is my favorite of the trilogy. It gives us everything we needed in a sequel. It is beautiful, meaningful and don't fall in fanservice.
At the time this movie came out, I was in a 3D animation class and was having regular crying meltdowns over trying to realistically texture and light 3D props in Maya. I didn't get to see this movie in theaters, but it was playing on the big screen TVs at my local Walmart once, and I legit CRIED at how pretty the rocks were YOU CAN EVEN SEE THE HAIRS ON STOICK'S ARMS!! SORCERY!!!
I kinda feel like Alex just skips through a lot of these movies in big gaps and only stops when something mildly interesting or different shows up. Some of the things he says just don’t track in some of the things he watches. Like here when he said that Stoic just randomly found Hiccup out of nowhere when he was clearly shown tracking Hiccup earlier.
It’s kinda weird because you can absolutely be comedic in your narration without literally making stuff up that doesn’t happen and changing decent plot points into seeming like mistakes and straight up plot holes. Like I just don’t…get it?
@FluffytheFloof yeah again... the molecules that creat scent would have been washed off a degraded because of sea water, the salt is important, it doesn't matter if that shit can smell colors, it's not picking up any scents on the helmet besides salt because that's the only scent that would still be on it after hours of tumbling in the ocean, not to mention it shouldn't float it should have sank lol

alot of tiny things are actually explained if u would watch the entire franchise for example the reason hiccup randomly got a flaming sword is because he made one himself but the idea to add zipple back gas to the handle was an inspired by vigo grimborn's sword in race to the edge! Or for example why skull crusher(stoicks dragon wich is a rumblehorn ) was capable of tracking hiccup down from his fallen mask because he is from the tracker class that was created also in race to the edge. another example of tiny details is that it just blurting out his wife who has been labled "dead" for 20 years because she was taken by cloudjumper(valkas stormcutter) infront of stoick when she was trying to defend baby hiccup instead has been alive can be a bit of a shock. stoicks reasoning for covering hiccups mouth was so he wouldnt scream as he has no idea the place hes at is actually valkas dragon nest and not dragos dragon army. Another thing is that at the end of race to the edge it was revealed krogan was working for drago and failed to find him an alpha so drago gave the order to end krogan and drago went to search one himself. another point i have hiccup didnt just "decide". in general a pretty entertaining video i just think its kinda wrong to leave some stuff away or unresearched to be more nit picky.
I think Alex over the years have been watching the supposedly bad movies and has created a persona around it that he just has to try to be sour with beautful movies he choses. Him trying to make fun of good moments in a well receives movie doesnt fit to be honest, but he cant escape it as his channel is built on that. He could always do some serious and heartfelt essay on movies like "500 days of summer". Doesnt always have to be making fun of everything forcefully
His video on WandaVision made me start thinking that he doesn't fully pay attention to what he's watching because so many of his nitpicks were easily answered by just watching the thing. Sometimes it feels like he's pulling a CinemaSins. Barely paying attention means you'll miss any actual problems but then create problems out of things that are quite easily explained.

@@321Mrremco apparently netflix has a guideline for show writers to make the shows "second screen worthy," in the sense that it's expected you're not going to give it your full attention, so they often repeat things or lower the complexity so people won't get confused (ngl i only know this bc of the latest drew gooden video 💀); this movie was made in a time where that wasn't an expectation. it's honestly quite possible he's doing smth else while watching this, which makes me a little sad since it's his job (tho i do understand it)

I just feel like he’s not really connecting with the movie and it’s lowkey reminding of how cinema sins review their movies. No hate to Alex, but just an observation.
There is a tv series on Netflix between the first movie and this. It expands the world building, and gives explanations for a lot of the seemingly out of nowhere developments in the movie. Such as, the giant dragon, fire sword, and it helps to expand the roles of the side characters, making theme more important to the plot.
agreed! I so love those movies and how the characters actually grew up and matured through the series. it also knows that children aren't stupid and doesn't dumb down the plot. man, I really need to re-watch them again.

So many people say that hiccup was stupid for trying to change drago's mind but if you watch the tv show specially race to the edge, you see that he changed minds of Antagonists so it is kinda a boost in believing you can change beliefs of people. If you feel the relationship between Hiccup and Astrid is a bit rush, I recommend watching the Dragon's Edge. It's a series to be exact and it's also connected to the second movie.
3:12, toothless was actually modelled after the animators cat (or they used cats as an inspiration, i'm not really sure). The similarities continue with toothless liking fish etc...
I swear I only laugh at Stoick's death scene bc when I saw it in theaters, some kid yelled "I gotta poo!" Right at that moment. It's permanently stuck in my head for the rest of my life. Etched in my memory. I can't separate the two.
And that is probably what the kid is going to remember the most from the movie 😆Seriously, these movies aren't for kids nearly as much as some people think. Some seem shocked that "kid's movies" have adult jokes and themes in them. Yeah, well, that's maybe because they aren't kid's movies. I remember going to see The Lion King with my parents and my sister when it came out, and in the elephant graveyard scene, with the hyenas, a kid thought it was so scary, that he actually started bawling, so his parents had to take him out of there. Furthermore, the animated movies made by DreamWorks and Pixar for example, often have deep plots, and a lot of jokes and pop culture references that only adults will get, because kids are too young to have been exposed to them. Nostalgia is a powerful emotion, and some of these movies are geared towards adults who remember certain things from when they were kids, like The Super Mario Movie, and Wreck It Ralph for example. They are for the adults who grew up playing the old Super Mario games, and the old games in Wreck It Ralph. One animated movie is so full of "adult" pop culture references that most kids today probably will scratch their heads and go "HUH?" and that is Shrek 2. How many of today's kids will get the Alien reference, or the "white Bronco" scene? Animated action comedies with high budgets, very talented casts and production teams, that's what they are, not kid's movies. Sorry for the rant, and back to HTTYD. This trilogy is one of my absolute favorite movie franchises of all time, regardless of genre, animated or not, and I haven't been a kid in a looong time. Remember when I said I went to The Lion King when it came out? Yeah 😮💨
There is a good reason why everyone was able to find the island tho. Stoic's dragon is a tracker class and was able to trach hiccup's scent. Drago has an alpha type who is able to tell where the current alpha is incase of overthrowing or avoiding reasons.
I believe they wrote this sequel with the third one in mind since it was so plot heavy. I appreciate the writers’ trust in their audience’s ability to actually pay attention with movies like these. Makes kids raise up to the mental challenge of watching and listening at the same time to keep up vs what TikTok is doing
This is my favorite movie franchise of all time. I know I might be a little biased, but I feel like you kinda glazed over some of the big character developments in the movie. Hiccup didn’t just not want to be chief, he was afraid he could never live up to his father’s legacy. When they have Stoic’s funeral he even says “how can someone be that brave, that selfless, etc”. It was about Hiccup learning what being a chief is about, protecting your people as well as doing the right thing, and that he won’t ever be his father but can be his own form of a great chief. I will admit Valka coming in is very convenient timing for Stoics death😂, I just wish we had more time for their relationship to be shown on screen.
Alex watched the first HTTYD movie, skipped like 6 seasons of Dragons: Race to the Edge which contains lots of information like when Hiccup and Astrid started dating and Hiccup's many inventions, and skipped straight to the second movie and was hella confused about context lmao 😅 I seriously hope you watch all of the shows now because omg the whole HTTYD franchise is amazing I'm obsessed with it ❤️🔥❤️🔥
It may have felt like it was too much too fast because there was a lot of content in the TV shows that were in between the two films lol. They did a LOT of expansion and development there
For anyone who grew up with HTTYD, I’d look into the books for the series! It has a lot more violent and darker moments meant for older audiences that they took out to make the film more friendly to kids, but it definitely is worth it to those who still love the series after so many years! :)
It's generally vastly different, but they are great books and there are indeed some really dark parts of them. Towards the end of the series, things actually feel really grim before the final confrontation.
There's a scene before secret nest that shows dad using his dragon to track hiccup. To be fair, you'd only know it's an efficient tracker class dragon if you're a grade A nerd and watched the shows. At least they never make finding a person a plot point in anything going forward.... Right?? 😢
Gotta love how Stoic never thinks to tell hiccup or anyone for that matter about the psycho killer with deadly dragons that wants to take over the world until this film
Nah... you dont tell your kids about everyone of your faults and bad things that happened in your life.. especially if A. It's the thing that took his wife why would he wanna talk about it with anyone and B. I doubt he thought it would ever come back again, how old is hiccup and the dude hadn't even been heard of till then
Hiccup is like what 20 in this movie and drago hasn’t shown since hiccup was a baby. You’d assume he’s dead or not coming back at the least the man literally walked through flames
I know this seems like a lot but I promise it makes more sense if you are immersed in the full world as well. As someone who watched the 3 movies first and then got into the series (one with 2 seasons and another with 6) I appreciated it all so much more after I watched all the buildup. You get full indepth characters and explore more of the worldbuilding and it all intersects which then leads to this movie. Its actual mastery if you get into it.
There was a tv show that's of Hiccup and his friend group that ends right before the beginning of the second film. They actually introduce Drago at the end of the show. And before that there was another series (that I can't seem to find anywhere). There's also this mini series of three episodes, I'm pretty sure it's still on netflix. There was also a mini episode of the dragon game they play in the beginning of the second film.
I am a grown person, and this is still and will always be the only film series that can make me cry and smile more than any other. It is my favourite and they are the absolute best.
They explicitly explain that Stoik's dragon can track scents. And the Bewilderbeast wasn't there to protect the nest and stop Stoik getting in. It's not that nobody knew where the nest was, it was never secret. Hence how Drago was able to go there immediately. The reason they hadn't before was because they didn't feel ready to defeat Valka's Bewilderbeast
I love this film. I already loved the original, and I like this even more. But the third is easily my favorite. This whole trilogy is fantastic. Especially the music.
One thing that makes the pacing a bit strange is that Valka was supposed to be an antagonist, being too extreme about protecting the dragons, if I recall correctly, going to steal all of the dragons away from Berk to keep humans from controlling them and Hiccup would then have to fight his own mother after losing his father. But, DreamWorks found it too dark for a family film so they made her the reason why Hiccup was so kind and forgiving of the dragons.
@@ParlonsAstronomie No Drago was still in the story, but it was about the duality of humans dominating dragons, a human killing humans to protect all dragons, and a humans living in harmony with the dragons. It was meant to show how extremes are bad on either side, but it also made it far less black and white of humans with dragons versus humans subjecting dragons. I still think they should have dove deeper into Valka being more extreme, using Stoic's death to drive her over the edge, but then Hiccup chases after her and Drago, and while she kills Drago before Hiccup gets there, she tries to use the bewilderbeast to take all of the dragons to a safe place, but Hiccup would be able to talk her out of it as she's doing it out of pain, not greed.
Didn't hiccups mom take that egg. Draco heard the news that his subordinates lost the egg and said he would find a new one on his own and killed the guy who was responsible.
Stoic found Hiccup's helmet and made his dragon, Skullcrusher, a tracker class dragon, track his scent through that helmet. It's not like Stoic just spawned there. Hope this helps.
12:49 Valka didn’t run away, her dragon Cloudjumper just basically took her, thinking she was in danger from the Vikings too since she didn’t attack the dragons like they did but later just decided to stay since she felt more at home with them than among her own war hungry people. Yes she said she stayed away to keep Hiccup safe but I think that was more an excuse she gave herself to avoid the fact she made the selfish decision to keep the life she preferred & to be fair she acknowledges to both Hiccup & later Stoick that this was the wrong decision in the end.
This is a direct sequel to the show race to the edge. It’s great and explains a lot including the alpha and trapping dragons and the sword and more! I highly recommend!

Amazing how all the "plotholes" Alex points out aren't even plotholes if you pay attention to the movie, but the one true plothole in the movie he just doesn't notice;
How does Draco manage to fly Toothless if Hiccup's pegleg is basically the key and mechanism that allows Toothless to fly at all?
iirc in one of the shows like race to the edge or something he makes toothless a tail that toothless can control flying himself but i thought it was a prototype toothless destroyed
@@chuulitoothless never wanted to keep that one, so the one in this movie would be the “lock and key” with the peg leg. That’s why in the third movie Hiccup had to recreate the automated tail

Fun fact!
You can see the glow ups in the Netflix parts of the Series.
The series as a whole is also a necessary watch to both bridge the span of time between the movies and explain quite a lot of stuff from the movie.

LOL, sometimes violence is the answer!
EXACTLY! It’s what we need in more stories!
I've been noticing that too! He's been making certain movies seem bad with his jokes and leaving out details.
and him saying valka just,,left on her own, instead of what really happened which is her getting taken back to the dragons nest by cloudjumper because cloudjumper thought she belonged there, and she stayed away because she thought it was what was best for her son and didn't want him to be in danger
Tons of his commenters think the whole story is just like "derp, pretty girls are stupid." When the story is "this horrible dystopian society is forcing cosmetic surgery on people as an excuse to implant lesions in their brains while they're knocked out that make them easier to control."
Idk, feels like there's a subtle difference between those two takes.
Most certainly you didn't notice, but stoic had skull crusher to track hiccup with his dropped face armor.
Primarily it was “Race to the Edge” on Netflix that brought us to the second movie (a solid show all around).

alot of tiny things are actually explained if u would watch the entire franchise for example the reason hiccup randomly got a flaming sword is because he made one himself but the idea to add zipple back gas to the handle was an inspired by vigo grimborn's sword in race to the edge!

Alex watched the first HTTYD movie, skipped like 6 seasons of Dragons: Race to the Edge which contains lots of information like when Hiccup and Astrid started dating and Hiccup's many inventions, and skipped straight to the second movie and was hella confused about context lmao 😅 I seriously hope you watch all of the shows now because omg the whole HTTYD franchise is amazing I'm obsessed with it ❤️🔥❤️🔥
ngl I dont think you need the tv shows to fully understand the movi lol
@@XaveAkuma Probably not, but it helps easing you in...certainly for the 3rd movie
There was a TV show? That's a first
@@rockess0181 there are three tv shows. two i think were direct to dvd and the third on netflix which I personally like the best and is the longest
@@rockess0181 3 tv shows and more spinoffs and shorts
It may have felt like it was too much too fast because there was a lot of content in the TV shows that were in between the two films lol. They did a LOT of expansion and development there
5:58 your forgetting that Stoic Used the masked hiccup dropped when captured, and had his dragon, Skullcrusher use his scent to get to the Hideout
Right?? 😢
I watched all the movies, shows and specials. I guess I'm a nerd. 😂
Stoic tracked hiccup’s scent from his mask when hiccup dropped it btw. That’s how he got in
Will always love that Eret is voiced by Jon Snow
Gotta love how Stoic never thinks to tell hiccup or anyone for that matter about the psycho killer with deadly dragons that wants to take over the world until this film
Agreed, he was just saving it to be more dramatic, methinks.
Nah... you dont tell your kids about everyone of your faults and bad things that happened in your life.. especially if A.
@@legopizza8063 He kills a room of people with a bunch of dragons then just leaves and you think they should assume he's dead?
@@legopizza8063 20
About time we get to see more Dragons!! I hope you get to the 3rd and the TV/Netflix series eventually
Or maybe he will review his first game the how to train youe dragons mobile game
15:09 That "sing" gets me every time. That's when they earned the tears.
This series is literally the best 👌 😭😭
Starting to realise everything is weird to you
literally
Stoick was able to find Hiccup because he has a tracking dragon, that's why he let him smell Hiccup's helmet when he found it.
I don't remember Hiccup being that slick with that kiss at the end, like damm.
If you watch Race to the Edge things in the sequel make more sense
understanding this movie also helps if you've watched race to the edge which takes place prior to httyd 2
I was going to say the same thing.
I’m glad that he watches “How To Your Dragon”, It was one of my favorite childhood movies!
Agreed, it's one of my favourite animated franchises, and it never fails to make me bawl. 💔😭
12:38 When I find that one nostalgic video from when I was 5 years old
One thing that makes the pacing a bit strange is that Valka was supposed to be an antagonist, being too extreme about protecting the dragons, if I recall correctly, going to steal all of the dragons away from Berk to keep humans from controlling them and Hiccup would then have to fight his own mother after losing his father. But, DreamWorks found it too dark for a family film so they made her the reason why Hiccup was so kind and forgiving of the dragons.
It is a good thing as it would have made Hiccup the vilain of the story.
9:16 "i have the same superpower for mozzarella sticks"😭😭😭
You know a scene is good when Alex shows the actual scene before making a joke about that and continuing the video
A decade since I first watched this masterpiece in the cinema as a kid and still nothing has dethroned it from my No. 1 spot in film. MY GOAT.
One of my favourite movies of all time, a masterpiece.
Not about HTTYD but Alex, could I ask you to watch Dead Boy Detectives? It's such an amazing show and I think you'd have a blast
Yes that show was absolutely amazing and deserved a second season 😭
Stoick didn't appear out of nowhere, his dragon is a tracker
You clearly forgot that
The series race to the edge is also really good espeacially from seoson 2 and onward!
Bro just explained the movie without telling me why it's a weird film
14:24 in dragons race to the edge we actually see the egg that births dragos alpha
Didn't hiccups mom take that egg. Draco heard the news that his subordinates lost the egg and said he would find a new one on his own and killed the guy who was responsible.
@@pokmonlaprasno
Yea, the animators animated toothless after one of their cats, in the first movie and that’s why he gives off loads of cat vibes as well.
Best trilogy ever I still remember how HYPED I was for the hidden world
I am sure you got disappointed after you watched the hidden world tho 😭 💀
This is a direct sequel to the show race to the edge. It’s great and explains a lot including the alpha and trapping dragons and the sword and more! I highly recommend!
I don't like how you think stoic just randomly got into the dragons nest, his dragon lead them there using hiccups scent
The score and the tone for this franchise are unmatched by others (of a similar caliber) that came before or after
Not true though I can think of other scores that are on par or better
