I have a pain for almost since 3 months. Actually I had lifted a heavy weight DJ amplifier to keep that up at a place. And from that day I had that pain in my right shoulder. I had take so many medicines but the pain relief was for 1 to 2 days only. Today I watched this video and symoultaniously I did it. Now I am feeling a very less pain. I think it works. Thanks doctor. Thank you Jeff Peng! I am a 71 yo male. My right shoulder became very tight and I lost range of motion in it. It started off very minor but became more serious with time. It got to the point I had difficulty removing a slip over shirt. I found your video and started doing the stretching routine 3 times daily. I was amazed that after a few days my shoulder began improving dramatically! I will continue to do the stretches. I also doing your neck stretches as that is also a problem area for me. I have participated in CrossFit for over 10 years…these are part of the warm up exercises I am familiar with…thank you for making this available to all! Very useful video Dr., Thank you. After having had rotator cuff tendon reattachment surgery on two of my shoulder tendons about a year ago, I am still struggling to regain some of my lost internal and external rotation range of motion. I tried doing the external rotation exercise you presented, but I’m not able to rotate my arm far enough on its own in order to be able to slip the other arm into place to then be able to apply that extra pressure necessary for a more successful stretch. I was wondering if there are any alternative external rotation stretches that I could try in order to work through the stiffness and regain better range of motion? Thank you again for your excellent videos.
@@JeffreyPengMD thank you for your kind reply Doctor. I came up with a similar stretch to yours last night by lying on my side at the edge of the bed. I put my arm in that same 90 degree position as in your external rotation stretch where the elbow is at the same elevation as the shoulder. Then I have the upper part of the arm supported by the bed and the part of the arm below the elbow hangs freely over the edge of the bed. From that position I can easily rotate internally or externally using pressure from the other arm to push the lower arm down towards the floor in either direction. It seems to be a good and safe means of stretching the range of motion in a way that I can leverage the strength from my other arm. Please kindly let me know if you have any thoughts on this.
Excellent. I started yesterday with your program. Thank you. I‘m m, 60, fit and healthy, issues with joints. Left shoulder painful for years. Can’t swim. Pain when lifting even light weights. Can lift my arm to the front very well though. I guess arthrosis got me as in other parts of my body. I did many exercises already but after each effort such as weight training chest or even other, pain is increasing. Cannot put on shirt nor jacket normally. I hope these stretches will improve the situation. It’s frustrating. But, frankly, it’s less frustrating than starting another endless journey with doctors and specialists who would take me through X-ray, MRT, injections, endless therapies etc. So I trust on mobility exercises. Thanks

Very useful video Dr., Thank you. After having had rotator cuff tendon reattachment surgery on two of my shoulder tendons about a year ago, I am still struggling to regain some of my lost internal and external rotation range of motion. I tried doing the external rotation exercise you presented, but I’m not able to rotate my arm far enough on its own in order to be able to slip the other arm into place to then be able to apply that extra pressure necessary for a more successful stretch. I was wondering if there are any alternative external rotation stretches that I could try in order to work through the stiffness and regain better range of motion? Thank you again for your excellent videos.
Thanks for your kind words! You can try using a door frame or a table instead to apply extra pressure to externally rotate.
@@JeffreyPengMD thank you for your kind reply Doctor. I came up with a similar stretch to yours last night by lying on my side at the edge of the bed. I put my arm in that same 90 degree position as in your external rotation stretch where the elbow is at the same elevation as the shoulder. Then I have the upper part of the arm supported by the bed and the part of the arm below the elbow hangs freely over the edge of the bed. From that position I can easily rotate internally or externally using pressure from the other arm to push the lower arm down towards the floor in either direction. It seems to be a good and safe means of stretching the range of motion in a way that I can leverage the strength from my other arm. Please kindly let me know if you have any thoughts on this.

Excellent. I started yesterday with your program. Thank you. I‘m m, 60, fit and healthy, issues with joints. Left shoulder painful for years. Can’t swim. Pain when lifting even light weights. Can lift my arm to the front very well though. I guess arthrosis got me as in other parts of my body. I did many exercises already but after each effort such as weight training chest or even other, pain is increasing. Cannot put on shirt nor jacket normally. I hope these stretches will improve the situation. It’s frustrating. But, frankly, it’s less frustrating than starting another endless journey with doctors and specialists who would take me through X-ray, MRT, injections, endless therapies etc. So I trust on mobility exercises. Thanks

I feel like these stretches are just a temporary fix. Shouldn't we be focusing more on the root cause of shoulder pain?

There are no reliable diagnostic shoulder tests. There is not yet a reliable neuromechanic test for the upper quarter.
Excellent explanation with drawings. Easy to understand and perform. I saw this video yesterday and have started stretches and exercise. I am having this shoulder pain since 4 weeks and it is severe. I am taking pain killer and doing cold compresses. I am 70 years old. Will update you soon. Any suggestions from you are welcome.
