Mark, lucky you to have access to pretty and colorful pallets. Here in Germany we just have pine and nothing but pine - in two different colors - dirty/old and new/clean ...
Another top drawer video mate! You're absolutely right too, it's only woodworker types that are snobby about it, the people buying your furniture couldn't give a shiny shite what the material is because it looks awesome and does exactly what it needs to. You're smashing it too mate, absolutely out of the park, I'm absolutely stoked for you!
In Texas, we have pallets from Pine to Mahogany! And I use them all! The Oak and poplar are my favorites! I use my Harbor Freight planer first then sand them down to make them pretty. Then I used hide glue to keep them together better. Anna White for plans! I love her stuff! But use the handheld metal detector for those hidden nails do not put them in your planer without it!

I've only just found your channel and I'm so glad. I'm a young woodworker so pallet timber is also just about everything I have. Eventually I hope to do the same thing you do as a business for myself. Seems like a dream come true (besides the nails)
I have used tips from you and your great heaps of video on pallet gathering, prepping and projects over the past years. I loved your silicone spatula idea so much I adopted it for my own. Also your table saw squaring jig.
I LOVE your positive spirit in these newest videoes, great improvement over your first videoes a couple years old. Keep up the positive spirit, keep making happy videoes, having great diy content like this.
Hey Bruv, if you buy any paint, get it "tinted" with white as well. All "tintable" paints are sold shy of volume because they are "designed" to be tinted. Just get artic white tint (pro tip) get artic white with 5ml additional black. It will make the white pop just right!
I think the best piece of advice in this video is that people generally don't care what it is made out of. Just that it looks cool. Once you start going down the rabbit hole you are really tempted to get the high end materials. Remember a lot of people buy overpriced composite board furniture.
Love your videos. I had done some pallet projects, but you incentivized me to go make some more, so I can afford some more tools/machines for my shop. Thanks a lot!! Love the way you give credit to other guys' chanels
Love your content. Here in Florida. Been pallet hunting for about a year now. I have. Never. Seen pallets with slats that thick. Best I get are slats half or 1/3 as thick. Guess that just means I need more glue....heh.
Mate, you are great! Know that! Thanks for your honest share. And you are right, lots of people look for these items nowadays, because they indeed look really cool 🤙🏻

Thanks for another good video Mark. I actually like the look of pine, is that weird? Wait, don't answer that. Anyway mate, keep up the good work. All the best, Brian.
Great video. Totally agree with the pine pallets. Awesome stuff. I will say though there is nothing worse than a pine pallet which is full of that sappy crapy that will gum up your blades etc.
Yes! I grabbed a couple of pallets a while ago that when I went to clean them up, were absolutely FULL of that crap. A lot of those boards went into the fire pit. It melted and bubbled up like a champ in the fire! Burnt with a nasty black smoke though...
Great video, looking forward to the next one. FYI- I think you e added the wrong link for James. I'm looking to make some jigs so thanks for recommending it.
Great video good to see others putting what is considered waste to good uses. To all you would be pallet hunters if you have a ute or big trailer , a fantastic resource is the wooden pallet/frame that ATV 's get imported in.Here in Australia ,my local motorcycle dealer used to pay to dump them at the tip, i just called in one day when i seen them piled up and asked them what they did with them . They could not give them to me fast enough , took my mobile number and ring me when they have them. These pallet range in size from 2.4 m up to 4m by 2.2 m wide for the biggies made up of 2x4 , 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 , and various smaller sizes. These are Kawasaki and Cam ams brands ( have no idea what the other brands do,i get so many i have never bothered to check elsewhere) , some of the timber in these pallets is beautiful and the best part , they are all kiln dried and heat treated. Thanks Dainer you make some fantastic videos , i have watched most of them.
@@dainermade yep , these are single use only ,custom made to fit the side by sides, the kawasaki ones have 2 x solid 90 by 90s running down the guts ,up to 3.6m long unbelievable they use to go straight to the tip to be turned into wood chips.Great channel one of my favourites
So I found a way to "clean up" pallet wood while still leaving a rough finish. a wire wheel. Especially for pine, it beats all the splinters, dirt and other stuff off. depending on how aggressive you get, it leaves a smooth, but very textured finish with the natural wood grain.
New sub, recently dropped carpentry for wood working(less of a scope, more finer detail work, and can do majority from home instead of site based). Have been popping thru Bunnings on the regular now 😂😂 I take it your only use heat treated pallets and not chep/loscam ones? Have seen a few nice looking chep/loscam pallets but don't wanna step on toes
What do Italian chickens wear to bed?? Parma-jamas! Another great vid! Pine is the only wood you can buy here outside of a specialty shop, so I kind of think of it as the benchmark for decent wood. Plus don’t heavy goods ship on hardwood no matter where you live? I’m a bit puzzled both by the pine hate and the supposed absence of more interesting wood in pallets. Thanks for the info & entertainment!
Top video again Mark. Using the hand plane for a weebit exercise , does make you feel better within yourself ay😅🤣. During the years of making all that you have made from pallet materials , have you cared about grain direction and if it makes any difference when machining pieces?
I know I'm late to the party here, but would love to see how you make the tenoning jig. (I think we have the same table/jobsite saw, so I watched you build your replacement fence with in-feed support with great interest)

Little tid bit for the peoples. Avoid sanding a surface if you are going to use a bladed edge after. The grit will break off and some of it embeds into the wood. This does make bladed tools blunt much quicker. If it can sand wood it can sand your nice sharp blade.
