    Three statements:
    1. Sex does not equal Romance
    2. Explicit sex scenes leave nothing to the imagination.
    3. I seem to recall a writer by the name of Jane Austen, who did just fine without including racy sex scenes in any of her novels, yet they are still deemed some of the greatest novels ever written, and the most romantic.

There is actually very little difference between some tv sex scenes and actusl porn these days, other than not actually seeing the (for UA-cam adherence), the inny outty bit. There have now been several films and shows where they have admitted that they actually did the deed 'for realism and the sake of art' 🤣🤣🤣

Honestly most "Spicy scenes" in movies do very little to control or alter or even have anything to do with the plot really. The more mature I get the more I begin to question why they are in most movies. I mean I know it all sells but it is gratuitous at a certain point and it just is not necessary for most movies really. Henry Cavill was the best Superman in this era for sure he nailed the part perfectly.

A great example of this problem is Oppenheimer. The movie is ~3 hours long and there are 2 scenes in it that are completely unnecessary. You remove those 2 scenes (the point of which was easily demonstrated elsewhere in the movie without being explicit) and it is down to ~2.5 hours and can be rated PG-13. It was as if the writers/director said, "Hey, you know what we need in this movie about the guy who created the Atomic Bomb - sex scenes!"

@@oliviamathew733 I did not say remove her, I said remove the sex scenes. You can have him walking into her apartment and fade to black to demonstrate the same thing. In fact, they did just that with another of his affairs (where they didn't even do that, they just showed them exchanging glances at a party). But to drive the point home: his wife was also a huge part of his life, and yet there were 0 sex scenes with her, yet we still got the point. In the movie, it just felt out of place and unnecessary, and also forced them to rate it R instead of PG-13.

I have nothing against actors. But for many years, a majority of them have been looking their noses down on the rest of us like we're the dirt beneath their expensive shoes. Whoever this actor's son is, I commend him for calling it for what it really is. Exploitation. It's like Hollywood is pimping out these actors for an insidious agenda, not just for profit alone. I have no idea how an actor's partner copes with watching the person they love being naked and intimate with their co-star for 'work'. There are scenarios where its understandable like brothels or to show that one character's personality or just to simply show the mentality of some ppl in that place but I believe that there were too many sex scenes that weren't needed. The wedding night/rape between Sansa and Ramsay Bolton? Their marriage and the whole plotline of Sansa becoming Bolton never happend in the books. To think that later on in s8 Sansa says to Hound that she was grateful for everything that happend to her cause otherwise she would stay a little bird. The whole sex scene between between Arya and Gendry? It was so out of the pocket, even the actress who played Arya refused to do this nude scene. A sex between Brienne and Jamie? Pointless for their characters. To sum it up, there are many unnecessary sex scenes in Game of Thrones that have absolutely no impact on the plot and what's more interesting - they never even appear in the books.

@@Shiirya what are you even saying? I undestand all those things you pointed out thats why I literally wrote ' there are scenarios where its understandable' but all the examples I gave literally show you which sex scenes are unnecessary. The whole plotline of Sansa becoming a Bolton never happend, all sexual things and pain Ramsay did to her never happend in her storyline in the books. Sansa was well aware of how brutal and cruel ppl around her the moment she saw her father's death. The creators of the show D&D run out of ideas for many characters as soon as they started catching up with the books. They gave Sansa this whole abusive marriage aspect and the first moment when we see her discuss it with someone who isn't her family member she is happy that it happend to her and many fans were like ??? Cause the og Sansa wouldn't really think that way, I don't know even if any women would describe traumatic experience like that. Thats one of the many ways how you can butcher the character. Also, other scenes I brought up were also unnecessary. How come the scene between Arya and Gendry was normal? or the scene between Jamie and Brienne? Heck, even the scenes between Missandei and Grey Worm could be done in a better way with a better taste. She was a slave her whole life, been used and belittled and he was a warrior, a slave in some sort and castrated. Yet D&D decided to make them be together which is fine, that would be lovely if both of them decided that they want to be happy and free together but then they again make unncessary sexual moments with them on screen. Its literally the last thing you should do when you have both characters that are so complex and hurt by the world. Thats why Lotr is the best fantasy-movie thing to have been created. There are plenty of deaths, fighting and suffering, but everything is done with great sensitivity.

I agree wholeheartedly with Henry Cavill. There’s a time and a place for intimate scenes in film and TV, and they don’t have to be so detailed and take up so much time. It can simply be where a couple starts making out or just walks to a bedroom and shuts the door.
One of the greatest intimate scenes I’ve ever seen was from Top Gun Maverick. Penny is dropped off at her house and she walks through the front door, leaving it open which signals Maverick to follow her.
The next scene is them in bed post-intimacy just chatting and enjoying each other’s company.
The context is that Penny and Maverick shared a passionate moment with each other, which was absolutely beautiful. There was no need for a scene to be filmed of them being passionate together. It was simply implied which was all that was needed for the movie.

What I said is that they often are used in a way to cover up bad writing or add shock value. Sex scenes written like this are often demeaning when you think about the context and writing.

My husband and I were just complaining about this the other day! How hollywood is so nonchalant about putting graphic sex and grape in movies these days. What ever happened to good old cut-to-black moments? No one watches porn for the story, but Hollywood insists on putting porn in our stories anyways.

    • @BiblicallyAccurateSpiderman
      @BiblicallyAccurateSpiderman 3 місяці тому +2

Speak for yourself. I prefer porn with a plot. This just exemplifies to me that sex without context or feeling to it is just empty and rarely enjoyable. Heck, even just racy implied scenes are more amorous and exciting than said explicit sex scenes.

    • @Oswald_Thatendswald

@BiblicallyAccurateSpiderman thats my point though. Their "porn", so to speak, is rarely part of the plot. It's just thrown in for shock value, or probably because the director wanted the hot lead actor to get naked.

I cannot tell you how much I want good interpersonal drama movies and books. Like Jane Austen stuff. Persuasion is SO AMAZING!!! The heart wrenching, gut wrenching situations. You aren’t sure if they will be together or if things will work out. Or Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë. To have more interpersonal dramas would be so satisfying and without sex scenes would be *muah* chef’s kiss! Even Young Sheldon on Netflix is fairly decent. It has innuendos and such but no sex scenes or violence. It’s so great!

Henry is such a stand up individual. He has strong morals about which he's honest but not overbearing. He loves his work and he cares deeply about good storytelling. He's in touch with his audiences and has even come out in their defense on record while he was being actively railroaded into pushing the "toxic fandom" narrative that Hollywood loves so much. Despite much backlash from his peers he hasn't compromised his beliefs which are as stout as ever even if it doubtlessly has cost him work in Hollywood. The industry absolutely does not deserve this man. And I agree with that bit about Julia Roberts. That backlash was absolutely uncalled for. I'm sure that it's not the first or last time that she's faced it but still, fked up.
As for sex scenes in movies, they could disappear entirely tomorrow and the medium would only be better for it. If the plot develops during the entanglement or if there's a detail therein crucial to said plot then maybe it might make sense to include it. And I very much would welcome that. Of course, modern Hollywood writers don't have the skill or the creativity for such a thing but they still want the sex anyway. Worst of all are the coomers who defend it.

As a writer writing a book, my biggest pet peeve is how much smut is in books and even movies. As a writer, I am told to not write anything that doesn't add to the story. Yes, sometimes, a sex scene or naughty scene can add to the story, but it feels like a cop out. Yes, it is meant to be there to pander to the audience, but as a lover of stories, I see it as lazy writing. Especially how it's seeping into the YA genre (which is the genre I'm writing) that is meant for KIDS. 13-18 year olds! It's just frustrating, and I'm glad people are waking up to it all.

I started watching K-dramad and J-dramas around 2008 and loved watching them four about 5 years. I kinda fell off with keeping up with them after that, unit last year.
Last year i rewatched those from my teen years and i realized how refreshing they were to watch.
Korean and Japanese television t is a complete 180 to U.S. with the U.S being so overwhelming in many ways. I've caught my self rewatching older sitcoms from the U.S too just for their simplicity and focuse on the show and yeah they may be dated and cheesy sometimes but I'm preferring them.
M.a.s.h is by far the best sitcome with its balance of comedy, drama and sexual references.
