I'm 22 years old: I've never drunk alcohol, I've never smoked, I've never had tattoos, I've never had pearings, I've never dyed my hair, I haven't drunk soda in almost 5 months, I only drink water, I'm not interested in showing my body to people, I'm living wrong? 🤔

Girl, I'm the same age and I'm trying to abstain from soda too. Besides that I'm living the same lifestyle and sometimes I wonder if I'm wrong. I went out with friends in 2022 and the friend hosting served us alcohol, I'm the only one who couldn't: outside my choice not to, I can't even swallow it, it's just repulsive to me. We were planning to meet last year and they were talking about outfits, then one brought up the fact that I don't wear short dresses and skirts, or any skin for that matter 😅: I even hate ripped jeans. I've just decided to stand by my choices and lifestyle, it suits me and it literally has no consequences.

No literally. Like theres so much more to life. I can see drinking on occasion. I really like this taste of this one apple flavoured beer (its better than apple juice ngl) so occasionally ill have a glass or half a glass after work which i think is acceptable or if you occasionally drink with friends but when every single hangout or event you need to be hammered I personally think thats a problem but society accepts it. I have only gotten drunk once, tipsy maybe twice but i have so many friends that will only hangout with people if they can drink. Like they genuinely believe you cant have fun unless you’re drinking or playing video games. On the other hand my friends who refuse to or cant drink, ive went on so many wonderful adventures with. Most of my favourite memories are with them where again, i was completely sober. Like yeah drinking can be fun but there is so much more to life

There are some actresses I’ve noticed who seem to only get hired for really awful characters, particularly ones that involve them making out or having sex with people or just playing the stereotypical hot chick because apparently it’s the only thing they can get hired for. Ex: Uma Thurman, Jennifer Lopez, Megan Fox, etc..

I tell her about how I regret having sex in high school but at the time, i thought i needed to. We've talked about how it's sexier to leave something to the imagination when it comes to attire. She's 21 now. We talk about having spiritual connections. About how looks can and will fade and to find someone who you enjoy spending time with and enjoy talking with. A lot of Gen Zee-ers, including Brett, don't seem to know what Julia's reputation was like in the 90s. She had a well known reputation as a home breaker back then. She destroyed several high profile relationships and she even destroyed the marriage of her current husband, just so she could marry him. The movie is about a prostitute. If you can make a movie about a prostitute who gets a week long gig with a millionaire staying at his hotel with him without nudity or sex scenes then you can make any movie or series without a sex scene.

I once heard of an acting coach who was known to tell his students to place their wedding rings on a plate outside the classroom because his belief was basically that "as a serious actor, you leave your morals at the door."
It's so WILD how there's actually an expectation for people to deny morals and "slut it out" for a role just so producers can have easy puppets to manipulate for easier profit.

In my opinion, while it would be better to avoid drugs, being drunk or having sex is fine to do. Those experiences will be one part that shapes who you are as a person.
If you want to go on without any of those things that's fine to. But take Brett's advice and don't try to force this idea of what maturity is onto people who don't want it. They are an individual, who has the right and freedom to make their own choices without your approval.

I'm not sure all of them are created equal. Something that congratulates itself on being scandalous and celebrating hedonist might be different to a scene that shows dysfunction, self loathing, or abuse. If you're dealing in storytelling, you probably want a scene that shows something that you couldn't convey via conversation or poetic means. That might be a different endeavour to a scene where the director thinks it's important for the audience to know how hot an actor is or whether they have the flexibility of an olympic gymnast as they flap about. The stark failure of such scenes would be if a different film conveyed more depth without them.

I first noticed this when I was pregnant. I said, "I'm planning to breastfeed." I was told I was mom shaming those that chose formula. God forbid I gave reasons for my choice. This is another example of the same thing. Julia Roberts says she doesn't want to be nude in film and people say she's shaming actors that do. God forbid if she gave moral reasoning for her decision! Same with Miranda! The narrative sounds a hell of a lot like projection to me.

I don't have tattoos, I have never even had tea or coffee. I have always dressed modestly. I have been sunburned like 3 times in my life, and not badly (I avoid the sun). I've done skincare since 11. Part of that is cos I'm LDS (but not american) but part of it that I'm genuinely not interested in doing those things. I've seen how it negatively affects people and I chose different. It's really comforting to see so many other millenials and gen z who are choosing the same and seeing that those things aren't good!! I was very much bullied and mocked throughout my entire life, but I've got the last laugh cos everyone was very surprised at the HS reunion because I apparently am a vampire and "haven't aged", and everyone was jealous (including my old bullies 👀) and asked for my skincare routine.... they weren't impressed when I said "avoiding the sun and never drinking" 😂

it's so refreshing to see Miranda say that, especially since we know about the Nickelodeon & Disney "off the rails" child stars phenomenon. Multiple Nickelodeon stars have revealed that they were often high or drinking while on set. Others have said they did pills and often had sex with their co-stars between set breaks. All of this happening while they were 13-17 surrounded by adults is very disturbing. Also the multiple stars that were reportedly assaulted by the execs on their sets.. It's just good to see that Miranda maintained some level of innocence knowing the things that were happening to others from the same network/shows as her.

So those were real. I guess it speaks to the darkness behind the scenes and how Hollywood was a dark place. Great that Miranda Cosgrove was better than that. After all, she couldn't save who was lost but could keep herself safe.

I'm 27 and because of me taking care of my health people say I look like I am fresh out of high school. I'll continue to keep this way of life and not let these negative people try to get to me. I hate alcohol so much, that I hate having it in my apartment. My sister’s husband had bought a 12 pack of Modelo(He’s Puerto Rican) and I had to take all 12 bottles, open them and pour them down the sink. It was about a week ago I did that. I don’t drink because of my Christian faith. I don’t smoke or do drugs either.

I think there was a misunderstanding with the statement Roberts made. It’s possible that the people who made these negative comments about her likely thought that she meant being nude now, while she’s middle aged. It’s likely that they didn’t realize that she was talking about turning down nude roles when she was young. It’s great that she turned down nude roles 👏🏼👏🏼

The pressures to drink and 'be fun' is honestly what pushed me from barely drinking to being drunk nearly every night, crying myself to sleep when I was in my deepest depression. When I pulled away from my other drinking friends who kept pressuring me every day, I very easily stopped drinking to drown my emotions out and now I'm trying to find what works for me- whether that's sobriety or maybe a glass of wine every once in awhile. Still searching for that balance but so happy and relieved to be on the other side of that darkness!

I might only be 16 but there are so many kids I know that drink and smoke and sleep around. I’ve never drank, smoked, vaped, or even gone to a party. And I could say, based on how they act, I am way more mature than any of them. Instead of partying I am studying, at work, at school, or at my practices, working hard so I can have a future. And I find all these things fun and rewarding. When I do have my own free time I hangout with my friends or my boyfriend so I’m still having fun once and awhile and just chilling out. The people that do party have bad grades, and usually fail at their sports because their bodies are literally falling apart. So how is my life worse?

But it’s still every persons individual choice. Honestly I think people who hate on people like Julia and I are just jealous because they lack purity and innocence and wish they could go back and take back their regrets and these morals convict them because they feel threatened by the idea that they are living wrong. Also, being pure takes far more strength and self control than going along with what everyone else is doing! That’s real women empowerment and inspiration! Just saying. Stay proud, pure moral ladies!
