    I asked some girl about 25 (I’m 57) if she was done with her sets. I was very polite and smiled as I would have with anyone at the gym. She looked at me disgusted and said she has a boyfriend. I was really taken back.
    I said “honey I’m gay and have a husband… I’m obviously better at getting a man than you are”… then walked away.
    She actually walked up to me later and apologized.

      You don't need the gym. Start off walking 1/2 a mile, then 1, 2, 5. Once your stamina increases, switch to jogging. Same time increase, like 5 min, then 10, then 30+. There's a jogging technique, where once you are able to jog for 30+ minutes easily, you could cut it back to just once a week, for 30+ minutes. I've done it. Do jumping jacks, pushups, situps. Met a guy in the 90's when I was deployed to Abu Dhabi, UAE. He was a buffed dude, not ripped like Joey Swoll. He told me all he does is pushups, jumping jacks, situps at home. Incorporate weights as you get stronger.

      It is scary going to the gym in the beginning especially if one does not how to use the machines, proper form, gym etiquette . There isn't really a book on the subject, but UA-cam and other line venues do help a lot. Glad you got over your gym fright and are working out. Nothing more satisfying than having a good workout regardless of where one is on their fitness journey.

      I think the reports said he tried to attack another woman the next day in her apartment. Same apartment complex. Seems like he was a full-blown predator. When people say "gym creep", there would often be an assumption of someone hanging out to get a look or to try an approach. Now, of course, there are some exceptions, like if someone forgot their key fob or the thing isn't working because of the weather or something, and we saw them there frequently, then we'll let them in and they'll call the owner to let them know, so the person who let them in doesn't get in trouble. I’m just gonna throw this out there as a woman, I’ve noticed a change in women’s gym fits and if you wanna wear the skin-tight, butt-lifting gym shorts that’s completely fine, but you cannot wear something that is meant to show off your body and act surprised that people are staring. If you don’t want people staring then just wear a different type of gym short. Same thing applies to those butt-lifting leggings, those tiny ass sports bras, those extremely low-cut tops, and those rompers. Men are not the problem, women need to stop trying to get away with wearing the bare minimum of fabric in a public environment. The women who claim men are the problem are the same ones lifting their baggy shirts above their butts in hopes it gets some guy’s attention. Then once they actually get it they don’t wanna be called out for being an attention seeker so they accuse the guy of being a creep. The women saying they don’t dress for men are the same ones wearing stuff that they KNOW attracts men to them. Again there is nothing wrong with wearing that kind of stuff, just don’t be surprised that you get attention from it.

      A gym is actually a perfect place to do that ... and the real reason it is "terrifying" is because YOU NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT IT AND DIDNT PREPARE! There is a "fringe sport competition" of "chase" (or whatever), where a chaser tries to catch (touch) the chased person in a limited (10m*10m) area that is filled with bars and tables to go over / under / around ... and that's a gym. LIFE ISNT FAIR ... and maybe women should a) accept that and b) PREPARE TO DEAL WITH IT, because if you prepare ... you are less likely to "be the deer that freezes in the oncoming headlights".

      Thanks a lot miss, as a straight man I go to the gym and glance at other guys, their form, some heavy lifters, the bigger guys and I'm cool about it, as a Physical Therapist I even have corrected some, but when I glance at women I feel like a creep and not once have I corrected or even approached a woman at the gym, I am TERRIFIED of this, whenever I see a woman doing an exercize poorly I fantasize about correcting her and making a new friend but then my mind drifts into her screaming and me getting my gym membership revoked so I just not do it...
      I would love to live in a world where people would be kinder to one another and just be clear. Don't want to talk? Just say so. Don't want advice? Cool, all good. Even If I actually want her number she just has to say no.
      Of course there are creeps but these are not the people who say hi, they are the ones who insist and stalk after you say no, we all need to learn to treat humans like people. Thank you for speaking out, lots of love.

      Gonna be harsh but if your faith on anything is so fragile that it crumbles based purely off internet comments and what you see solely online.........then it probably wasn't even needed or well intentioned in the first place. You may need to reevaluate your life if your personal beliefs and faiths are so easily penetrated by keyboard strangers and the Internet.
      From personal experience I've seen that what is online hardly if ever is reflective of the real world for the most part.

    • @aliquidgaming1068
      @aliquidgaming1068 Рік тому

      Also yea.....there is always those who aren't gonna be good people. You give them too much credit and attention by watching their presence online. Again there's a reason this stuff mainly exists online. It hardly reflects how most people are or what typically happens on a day to day basis. The ones who mind their own business, don't care or have similar views don't nt get attention cause they are doing just that. Minding their business.
      Those that aren't are the minority. They just are loud and have online presences. You're giving them what they want. Also giving up so easily.....like I said that is just as much a bigger insult to humanity. Just as much as you think these people against joey are. You need a little self reflection and just get off line a bit. It helps trust me

      @@aliquidgaming1068honestly people like you just another reason why people have less faith. They aren’t saying this is literally the only thing ever in existence and boom all hope and faith is dead. No it’s fact that this is in the fucken millions, not just people but people and friends and family that let this happen or support this behavior. The tens of millions of egotistical morons that continue to pollute the world with horrendous mindsets and people don’t do shit about it. Hundreds of millions in nations not only ignoring this but so clueless people will unironnically act like events never ever happen like people really believing a man can never be innocent when comes to shit like this very topic. People unironnically believing that whole ideology’s are wrong and “misogynistic” because few people they take few seconds out of context said something that can be suspicious. People ignoring the fact that all this fucken shit stems from family and mistreatment and completely ignore low income families that actually doing problems because apparently poorer people can never ever be assholes or criminals, rich people impossible to just have money and that’s that, families are never at fault, parents unable to accept their child is not this angel and mister goody baby boy and lie in front of cameras all day every day. All this now mixing to just fact that people are fucken incompetent in all and any basic manners of society.

    You know how bad the gym culture has become when instead of focusing on your workout you have to focus on not looking at anyone. Which in a way is absurd, because gym people are usually sticking together and helping each other out. So being aware of your surroundings can help you and others from getting injured. That being said, Joey is the man I wish all gyms would have as manager. He's fair and supportive of people who just want to improve or maintain their health.

      When I used to work out, the nicest people were often the burliest, ripped, stoic-faced guys. I was bench pressing and I somehow misjudged my strength and next thing I knew 4 guys were pulling the bar off me and offered to spot me after making sure I was OK. I've never felt so safe and supported at the gym. I never once felt awkward doing squats or pelvic thrusts there, because everyone is too busy doing their own thing to care about staring at asses. As a former gym rat who happens to be a lady, the gym IS my safe space.
