    Would be interesting a video to help "entry level" players to choose a guitar in a shop. For example, what to check in a guitar (to be sure at least that the guitar is in a good shape), proper way to check it, and any suggestion to help us grasp and explore the differences between two guitars of the same model. All of this...without annoying people around or the stuff 😅 Thanks anyway Tyler!

    Man I totally relate to this. Every time you go to a guitar shop someone there is just shredding hard, pulling off sweeps and triplicates, super fast solos, and you just say “I can’t play around this guy! I was spoiled when I first started playing guitar. I was a huge Metallica fan and wanted an ESP. At the time where I lived (Colorado, 1999) there weren’t any Guitar Centers I knew of, and you could only buy ESP’s at one store in a Denver suburb. It’s a locally famous shop for shredders and drummers. I just walked in heard all the people playing screeching solos, and the salesman helped me locate the model and color I wanted and hooked it up to an amp and said “go ahead and play around, try it out!” I played like a strum of all open strings and went “yep this is it! This is what I want!” And we bought it and got the hell out of there!

    This was relatable. I started out as a 1/1 and could barely speak to the seemingly cool looking store guys. Then the first one set me up on a real loud amp and I didn't know what to play. And the guitar was out of tune. At least I didn't (know how to) play any of the annoying songs people always do in guitar stores.
    They were friendly people too, always saying hi, and calling me Bass VI guy, since that's what I bought from there (plus a ton of strings and picks.) When you know what you need out of a guitar store, it's a lot less daunting. Getting guitars fixed or setup was also a nice way of sharing some of the cool aspects of my guitars with people who seemed like they appreciated them, like artwork or just a nicely made expensive guitar.
    Hope your amp is OK, when I saw that light go out I thought it might not be planned :o Hopefully just some protection circuit and a cooldown?

      @DaedalusRaistlin Рік тому

      @@thecheeseman31415 Loved it. I always had a guitar, but couldn't really get the proper feel for it, and found bass easier to get into. The Bass VI feels like it bridges that gap into guitar, and I had a lot of fun coming up with riffs on it. The strings weren't as massive as the ones on my other 6 string bass, so easier to play. They're spaced close enough to use a pick if you want, or finger pick nice and comfortably. Feels a little like an acoustic in that regard. It just felt right to me, and though I've since moved onto guitar as my main instrument, I credit the Bass VI with helping me get there by being a really good mix of bass and guitar in one instrument, similar enough to both to let me transition my skills, yet still has it's own unique sound.

    Just remember everyone had to start somewhere and they got out of it what they put into it. From my experience the best players tend to be the most humble people and have no problem giving you tips and tricks to help you improve. The biggest thing is no matter what you’ll always be your biggest critic so go easy on yourself!

    I miss your skits man, it’s what brought me to your channel! You should think about doing one like, What happens when a vanilla guitar player picks up something exotic! Interpret that how you like, just something I thought would be funny!

    I played a guitar in a guitar store for the first time since I've been playing for like 20 years, was scared shitless at first, but in the end ended up trying a few guitars and walking out with a G&L Tribute Legacy, wish I walked out with the amp I was using too, though :(

    Skit videos are back! I was just thinking about how it has been a while since you (Tyler Larson) have done one of these... Ideas? I'm fascinated by guitarists who think that with a guitar, they are capable of unexplainable expressions. They can play and get "into the zone", and time seems to stop as they commune with the universe... How about: "Groove moves of guitarists in the zone." I recall how Steve Vai would go deep into the zone, start rocking his shoulders side to side, lose his heavy Hydra, and flip his pick. Many guitarists head bang. Kfir Oachion plays with his eyes closed, and at the end he "wakes up" and breathes deep. Some dance. The Who's Pete Townshend wheels his right arm around. Some guitarists are "naval gazers", ignoring eveyone as they focus on perfection. Kirk Hammet has said he is angry all the time, but is he angry AT his guitar? Some guitarists raise their guitars up like classical guitarists, like they want viewers to think the guitar is radiant and their playing is profound. Ritchie Blackmore halfway through Can't Let You Go showboats like that. ZZ Top would swing the neck side to side, like its a tommy gun. Some bassists keep the guitar down near their knees, and bounce their spines. Gary Moore had some soulfull winces on soaring notes. I've seen guitarists who are just watching other guitarists get into the zone, and then the watching guitarists would also get into the zone and start jerking their heads or chins. Rhett Shull and Rick Beato have that same chin-turn if they watch something that amazes them beyond their own abilities. I'm sure you know what I mean, and have silly names for these "possessed players."

    I think confidence is the key to success in anything you do I’m a barber and having that confidence in what you’re doing is number one without it you’re going to hesitate you’re going to doubt yourself and you’re not gonna do as good as you could

    What is the size of your studio there? Have you done a studio tour on your current location? If you have not done a current studio tour could you do one? I am trying to get ideas for my new one here at home.

    Skits, I kinda miss em. For fun, I went back to your oldest videos with the desk in the corner and all the other day. Still funny. I was even thinking there should be a 'Tyler Reacts to....Tyler?' Where you and the Mrs go back and watch an old video (of your wife's choosing). Short and might be funny.
