Mate don't be concerned about the length of the video it was awesome watching the history of not only your van but one of my favourite street machines of the time rock 1 and 2 . Loved your work mate 👍 👌
Thanks George will keep that in mind
I'm just commenting for the UA-cam algorithm while I check for a new video.
Thanks mate, It all helps
Dont EVER worry about the time guys, I'd watch 5 hours of this, make them as long as they need to be, I'll be watching!
Thanks David
cheers guys.
Rock Solid 2 was hugely influential and inspirational for me as a young bloke who was literally just starting out. I remember spending hours just looking at it, going away and looking at others and coming back to Rock Solid and looking again. was an amazing car.
I should order a T-shirt one of these days too.
Thanks mate, it’s been fun going back through all the photos
Another great video and another great edit. Having Dale there to add comments made me feel like I was sitting on the other side of the table
Good stuff, our plan is working
Love watching al of your videos Howard & Dale, you are a true craftsman, I could watch these all day long. Would love to see one or 2 of Dale's cars as well at some stage down the track.
Maybe one day, they are at the start of the Biography episode 1
16 minutes in and lovely to see Dick and Allan on the wall and the awesome Zackspeed Capri.
Yeah we’re great times.
Great video Howard. Run time is fine, the more info and photos the better I say. A credit to all involved, including Louise for her time and skill in throwing all these videos together. Can't wait for Rock3 - my favourite of the XA sedans makeovers.
Working on it already, it’s going to be a cracker

That was great, Howard. When Rock 3 was at Summernats a few years back we chatted about that whole evolution, so it was great to go over it again. Look forward to the next instalment.
Glad you enjoyed it, there is lots to see on all the builds
@@AstillDesign watched the
Rock 3 one today. That was great too and it was very cool to see it in the metal at Summernats 30.
Thanks Howard and Dale, your videos have been unreal to watch, loved the bio now working thru the build series, great to watch the 70's cars great memories, keep up the great work 👍👍
Thanks Josh appreciate the support
Very enjoyable, thanks to yourself, Dale and Louise for these great videos.
Our pleasure
You are a dead set legend to our sport mate! These shows are great learning more about yourself and your life and how you were self taught much like myself. 👍
Yes mate, a every evolving story
Thanks for sharing your memories here, loved every minute of it. So glad you took plenty of pics of your car builds. Back in 1982 I bought my first car a XA Fairmont 302 V8 Auto Coupe, sadly it was traded in for a XA Falcon 500 Sedan with a 250 2V Six cylinder and a 4 speed Top-loader. The next car was a XC Fairmont Wagon 302 V8 with factory 4 speed manual and AC. I wish that they were still parked in my garage today. I am a true blue Ford fan and have owned many different models over the years and still have Factory Workshop Manuals for most of them. My current project in the garage is a 1992 Ford EB Falcon S XR8 in Black Pearl. I recently asked Ford for the build details of my XR8 and as optioned is 1 of 11 only built by Ford. I have owned it for 20 years and needs a good restoration. Watching these build videos will help me with the resto of my XR8 in my garage. I need to buy a MIG Welder and start practicing for the body work I need to repair Rust in a few common places, and freshen up the mechanicals. Looking forward to your next video, and have enjoyed watching The Trophy Hunter Videos. Thanks again Howard for sharing your memories here.
Sounds like you have had some nice cars over the years. Yes it surprising what you can get done at home
To think and see you built a multi award winning car in a 7x5 home garage is amazing and inspiring.....keep the videos coming please
Thanks Damon, it grew a bit from there over the years
Hi Howard and Dale absolutely enjoyed every second of this video great work. Don't worry about the length I could watch this all day long thanks heaps.
Awesome, thank you!
Hey Howard dont stress over the length of the video's , We can always come back and finish watching them at a later time if need be. You have done so much over the years I cant imagine how many you would have to make to cover everything. Again thankyou for sharing your builds , accomplishments and stories . We are so lucky to have you in this comunity . Thanks again !!
I appreciate that, there will be 15 episodes in this series
Thanks guys for putting this and last series together, great seeing the 80's in pics, that would of done my head in rebuilding car again again, also credit to your bride for putting up with all the car stuff, you're the ultimate perfectionist 👍

Love the video Howard & Dale. You’ve always been an inspiration Howard. Since the first time read about you in street machine.. I would have been about 12 (about 28 years ago) then I think. I’m a spray painter & panel beater now and love my job. Thank you Howard keep it up mate.
Thanks Rich, it can be very rewarding when it all goes right

Our pleasure
Howard. That was a Glorious hour and a half mate. Enjoyed every minute.
I still have my copy of Street Machine from that Rock Solid II era including the Rock III one. They were the best years !
Thanks Tony, yes many a good weekend on the road back then
Very cool first episode!! will look forward to the next episode, I think an hour and a half is perfect amount of time. ROCK ON!!
Thanks for the feed back
Awesome, I've been waiting for these.
I loved the biography, I'm sure I'll love these too.
Thanks guys
Our pleasure
Amazing work Howard.. even though I'm a Holden fan through and through, my love of cars came about after reading your article in Street Machine in my Highschool Library! (yes they bought every issue but there was always a fight to read the latest edition!) Its been great watching your entire biography and now the build series.. Having a young family myself now (and in my early 40's) I really appreciate the time, effort and cash it takes to do what you did back then and continue to do! Keep up the Great Work!!
Thanks Scotty, it’s a lifestyle not a hobby
G'day Howard and Dale, wow love your work and how you HA just learned your skills along the way like most of us do or did! Very interesting to see progress over the builds! Don't worry about the time of the video, it beats TV anyday! Looking forward to your next video!
Awesome, thank you!
Oh yes been waiting for this to kick off
Enjoy
Top video mate love your work
Thanks Rodney
Hi mate, these get better each time, I wouldn’t be concerned about running over time, the content explains itself, you’ve put some serious hours in over the years, a credit to your hard work, Howard well done 👍
Thanks mate,
Wicked, really been looking foward to the build series 👍👍
Cheers
@@AstillDesign thank you Mr Astill, we all really love and appreciate you bringing another series to us in youtube land ❤️❤️
Awesome video series, I've been going to/ competing in car shows around Brisbane since the late 80"s and always admired your vehicles. Great to see what you went through to build your cars. Keep up the videos and I will keep watching! Just had my latest car build featured in a magazine, and after watching your 1st build series video you have inspired me to go that next step further. Cheers mate!
Good job Micky,
Let’s go I’m pumped
👍
Good video. Had a good laugh too. Keep it going.
Glad you enjoyed
1.5hrs is nothing when im entertained. I was too young to know about rock solid, but gee whiz the amount of hours deleteing factory ugly is nuts mate. It does help me think, see Oscar, your not as crazy as you think. Already looking forward to the next build series episode
Cheers mate,
Amazing start to the builds Howard! Wish i had mates that would help and hang out! Up the mighty XA!
Maybe one day!
Wow what an awesome insight 🤘
Absolutely amazing to see just how much effort you put into the details. Have followed your passion and progress from Rock Solid (still have the S/M mag it features) through to Boss XC Love the content and thanks for sharing about the lead holders on the XA have always been guessing 🤣🤣
All the best for the New Year
Cheers Matt
Thanks Matt, nice to have you along
Could've gone for over 2hrs Howard fantastic content mate..
Amazing how subtle changes helped you achieve what was needed at the time..
I've seen the adverse effect of silicone drops did exactly what you were saying in the build mate..
Very interesting to see how fabrication and techniques have changed in the past yrs to present..
Looking forward to seeing the next series mate 😊😊
Glad you enjoyed it
@@AstillDesign definitely did mate watched it twice last night lol..
🔥
👍
These videos are great Howard 🤙
Hanging out for you to start on the new van, I've seen you've gone with modern wheels but would be great to see it on some fat BFG/TA's for that old school look 😎
Cheers mate, nothing is set in stone
Still to this day Rocks engine bay is one of my favs. I want a tunnel ram in my Mustang
Thanks Glen, I still think it was cool.
I remember when magnum force came over to south oz after you sold it to danny. Bloody thing kept on knocking off trophies 😁
Always wondered were it went
@@AstillDesign he got rid of the magnum force script and stuck he and his missus name over the turret instead. started losing trophies after that. He ended up selling it on and bought The Judge (CF Beddy)
Still remember you picking up Heather from Morgan St in Magnum Force. Doug.
That’s cool, a long time ago now
@@AstillDesign Was still at Burke Ward then. Now 52.
Midnight Express. I think that's in the motor museum at Birdwood SA
Yes Lorry it is in the Museum
Good job. 👍🏻 Dont worry about the time.
What happened to magnum. Force after you sold it.?
I believe it went to Adelaide
Did you ever do an Holden cab for an Overlander replica in forest green ?
Not me mate.
Make them all an hour and a half. Rather watch how stuff was done old school back in the day instead of shit all being done on CAD and CNC'd like these days. I just finished my Torana on my own in my shed, full rotisserie build, I even made the rotisserie myself so I can relate to this.
Good stuff, there is nothing like having done it yourself
have you ever been tempted to do you your version of a mad max xb ?
No mate, love the movies but not enough bling for me
Makes me laugh how we did out mods in the backyard without the skills and equipment like they have today. My two brothers and I cleaned all the gunk off the bottom of my ute in my parents shed with icecream containers of petrol and a drill with a wire brush.
Yeah its all about the process and mateship
Love ya shows and I was just wondering how I could get photos of my old panel van that I use to own back in the good old days and I entered it in a few shows and because of an old girlfriend that I use to see burnt all my photo albums that I had with all my cars that I owned from my early days which I started with a XT panel van and then I bought another van that was already decked out called
The Cosmic Mermaid which was a Adelaide van and was hoping someone might had taken photos of it that I might be able to get copies of so hopefully I will hear from someone out there cheers
Hi, there are some dedicated Facebook groups for vans that might help out
All about Howie albeit living in the past.
CORRECT that’s the idea
Ironically that van would be worth more now in stock form than customised...who knew, right ?
Thats so true
Your wife is a saint
Yeah I know
