Awesome episode absolutely loved it, love you’re work Howard you are a true craftsman 👍
Thanks mate appreciated
XB coupes are the best looking car to ever be built in this country. Thanks for saving another one.
No doubt! plenty would agree with that
I'm a sedan man myself.
Me too, I’m first builds we’re 4 doors
I prefer the aggressive look of the XA
@@56WagonWheel Me too
Howard Astill kindig foose saves another GT coupe. Outstanding work mate, from a Torana fan.
Thanks mate, that’s a big rap
Yes as you said Howard “what a car” great colour and finish
Thanks Dale
Guards in Australia. Thanks for another excellent episode.
Glad you enjoyed it
A mint car, literally.
Cheers mate
It's amazing how many Restorations started off as Builds ;)
True, they weren't worth much 20 years ago so many became show cars
Thanks guys. I love these build series vids.
Our pleasure
Young boys , very good work .
Thanks a lot
Awesome I had a XAGT in the early 90s I wish I had a crystal ball lol. I bought her for 7.5k. I miss her.
Yes we all have that problem
@@AstillDesign I also had a Landau in the late 90s I paid 17k and see sold a few years ago for 170k 🤪😅 always loved your work mate. Keep em rolling.
Best build I've seen ever👍👍😊😊
Got a few more that might change that
great colour
sure is
That cool mint is amazing looking, especially in contrast underneath. Just shared video with a mate who has just purchased a coupe to do a rotisserie build
Cheers mate
Stunning build!
Glad you like it!
what a work of art
Thank you.
I remember looking at this at Summernats. I was looking under the rear of it when you came over to me and asked me what I thought of it. I said it was stunning, and we ended up chatting for about ten minutes. Absolutely gorgeous colour and was a pleasure talking to you back then... Thanks for doing these build videos. 👍👍
Hi Les, always loved talking to the public about cars
What a phenomenal build Howard deadset credit to you mate..
Your workmanship and detail is 2nd none mate..
Thanks Scott, wait till you see the Fiat
What an awesome build. Beautiful colour. Another great episode howard and dale 👌
Glad you like them!
Another stunning coupe! Re-spraying red over that Cool Mint is criminal. 'I'd love to see your spin on a '69 Ford Torino GT.
There were so many GT’s resprayed red or black
@@AstillDesign "Resale Red", right?
Loving the buid series. Keep it up. Hopefully you can build my dream car oneday
Maybe one day!
fine work, great vid, many thanks gents
Our pleasure
Unbelievable attention to detail and workmanship....to be expected from you Howard I guess......look forward to every video
Thanks Damon, its a way of life.
Thanks Boys, what an amazing journey with this car , the T56 is a great gearbox. Window Regulator might have been the word you were looking for 😀 I have been watching the BossXC series also and I’m just blown away by the level of craftsmanship and quality.
Thanks Mick, Need two sets of hands at the moment
One of the few green cars I like. The mint green colour with subtle grey touches is phenomenal.
Cheers mate
Awesome episode guys I was hanging out for this 1 love the colour combo. Gotta say I’m a die hard Holden fan but gotta show appreciation where it’s due nice work by all
Thanks Joe, appreciated
Great episode guys! I am even warming to Dale despite his allegiance to the GM product AND living in Dapto! In the circumstances, I am amazed that you have as many teeth as you do.
Ha ha, he hasn’t been in Dapto for a very long time. In fact I’m closer than him
This is my favourite build of yours Howard,so tidy and what a great colour, bravo.🚗👍
Awesome, thank you!
Another beautiful build Howard coolmint says it all cool looking in absolute mint condition your a legend
Thank you kindly
They passed me on Picton Road on the day the took it home,,Awesome to see.
Very cool!
Nice!!
I got some old hotwires, took em to local electroplater/polisher, got them polished and put them on my XB Fairmont sedan.
First car, 250cid 6cyl, column auto, extractors, 1v carby, and eventually a stereo worth more than the car!!
I thought I was the business in that old girl 😄
I'm sure you were!! What a great first car
Another great video thank you
Our pleasure
Another nice build Howsrd. The t56 is a nice 6 speed box . I ordered my rapid yellow xr8 ute brand new with a t56 and love it. Tastefully done , yes I agree the stance needed to be a bit lower. I'm glad that you to on the build as it saved another fantastic car as well as looking to have reproduction parts made as I believe was encouraged from this build. Glad that this took place as I will be buying them for my as sedan. Nice and informative vid, thourghly enjoyed it.
Thanks Joe, has been a great journey so far
Good episode guys, love hearing the stories and that Coupe looks amazing.
Thanks mate, got plenty of stories.
Awesome video HA!
I remember this build like it was yesterday, showing mate’s the fb pic’s when you stripped the quarters and turret etc..
💯% Masterclass effort..
Now you got it, Cheers H
Truely stunning Howard
I am quite positive I have seen another one in this colour in the mid 2000s in a guys shed just out of Bridgetown in Wa
It was in pieces as he said he was doing it up but he was having family issues so I have no idea what became of it
It really is so amazing 😍😍👍👍
There still out there in pieces. So many cars in sheds
Thanks Howard and Dale for another amazing video. This is my favourite build so far, the XB coupe is my favourite car and green is my favourite colour so absolutely enjoyed every second amazing car.
Glad you enjoyed it, sound like the perfect fit
@@AstillDesign most definitely a car like that would look great in my garage.
Green is nice
sure is
Another great build mate 👍👍
Thanks for the visit
Incredible video Howard. Loved it! Your workmanship is simply out of this world. The stance & wheels cost you dearly at the Summernats, but the colour & everything else are incredible. Well done again!
Thanks again!
Great vid Howard 👍👌
Cheers Mate
Awesome stuff Howard..I look for to purchasing some panels for my XB coupe.
No worries, astilldesign.com, email astilldesign@hotmail.com
Nice looking car that one
I think so too! Have a nice day
Get dale in a ford t shirt 🤣🤣
I'm working on it
Great Work as always Howard (and Dale) A couple of questions if thats ok relating to the fuel tank 1) Was it rusty on the inside due to standing for so long and if so what did you use to clean it / treat the rust? 2) Was it an Aluminium or Steel tank? What was the process to paint teh putside of it? just going through some issues with a VL tank at the moment. Thanks for your time!
Hi, It was just damaged on the outside. required some repair and filling plus paint. I haven't had the need to do an inside repair so I am unable to make a comment from experience, cheers H
great episode. No work gets done here on Thursday afternoons !!! what sort of hours would you estimate was in the metal work ?
Hi, around 800 hours to get to primer stage
Love to have my car done at Aston design done as an XA Superbird. Only if I had the money .. Mine s a Coupe.. great job guys. My question how on earth did you come third at the show.
Summernats, lots of top modified cars to beat there
Loved the video. Your work is amazing. You obviously have a passion for doing this.
I have a 75 GT Coupe myself and would love to know how much the restoration ended up costing as I have always wanted to get it done.
Hey mate shoot me an email to astilldesign@hotmail.com
I wonder if Dynacorn could do a complete new coupe like the Mustangs?
Mark at this point you can’t register a rebody in Australia.
Hi Howard great episode 👍Do you recall what the silver colour is called on the bonnet or lower half of the car or even the paint code maybe?
Thanks
sorry I don't have a formula on hand
Thick it is called Argent Silver not sure of the code though,,
@@stuartsharples9520 thank you👍
Incredible build! How many hours do you estimate went into this?
Hi, by memory it was around 1500 plus paint
A great build, thanks for sharing. Howard, do you sell 1978 ZH Fairlane roof skins? Or know where I can buy one?
Sorry mate can’t help with that one.
Thanks, Howard.
Hey Howard..Fantastic show as per usual...Thank You so much for doing them....Can you please tell me the brand of grease you are talking about, at the approx 1:04:47 time mark....Thanks Mate
Hi, there are plenty of option out there this one came up on a google search. WD-40 Specialist High Performance White Lithium Grease 300g/454ml Cheers H
@@AstillDesign Thank You
Hi, I haven't watched yet but have watched most of your others.... you don't seem to talk much about hinges and how you set things up.. front to back or vice versa. I see some tape on the bodies sometimes but no pins? when do the painted bolts go in etc. also do you put weights in the doors for mockup etc. I'm sure you could do a whole episode or 2 on this subject but always seems like you just brush over it... cheers!
Hi, thanks for the feed back. The Road to top 60 is a more detailed build series that we go into more detail. In the new year I will be looking for new content and this is a good one, cheers Howard
Beautiful build really well done, ahh please get some nicer screws for those name plates 🙏 machined clips maybe but that looks terrible IMO.
Hey mate, that was about 12 years ago. There has been a lot of changes since then.
@@AstillDesign lol ok good to hear !
Hope you're both well and so is the family 👪.
Would you like one of your builds to become a Hot Wheels Boulevard Builds?
Take care
Niall UK Scotland
Hi, That's always a dream. The coupe with Australian flag would be a good candidate
I love your craftsmanship but I wouldn't pay the price.
Yes its not for everyone.
Why was this car not available in North America?
These were an Australian designed and built car in RH drive
did you ever consider gold stripes ?
No mate, was done as per Ford
The screws you use for your business plate with build number really surprise me. You have such a eye for detail and produce beautiful quality work. The screws are shit and look out of place
Well all I can say is it was a long time ago and probably all I had at the time and we’re changed after if I remember correctly
anyone know the part number of the rear swaybar
White Line BFR1Rear Sway Bar - 18mm Non Adjustable
@@AstillDesign thank you great build
shame ford australia never offered 429s
Thats for sure
Colour Spectrometer.
That's the one
never really appreciated the look of them back in the day, what was wrong with me
They are huge now. Ford couldn’t give them away in the late 70’s
beautiful build howard , did you have the steering wheel refurbished ? if so who did it ??
Thanks mate, rimblowrestorations in New zealand
