Re-torque and Reassemble. As always thanks for watching!

That nut fell off my 2016 grizzly. Over heated and I limped to the truck. Took me a bit to figure it out. It actually runs the water pump too. I took the cover off and the nut was gone. Fished the nut and washer from the bottom end with a magnet.

Wow, so it did happen to somebody.? That’s probably the only way you would know is overheating. Sense it turns the water pump too.
Luckily you were able to get back to the truck! Hopefully you didn’t hurt the engine. Thanks for checking out the video!

@@kcatv9556 Yamaha had a recall for my bike and replaced the cylinder due to smoking on cold start. When the mechanic had it apart he noticed some marks on the crankshaft from that nut falling off. I kept my mouth shut about that and Yamaha told them to replace the crankshaft. Good video. I also have seen this pop up on forums and currently have a '16 Wolverine in the shop. So to determine if your bolt has loosened you should be able to remove just the water pump housing and try to turn the water pump blades. And or turn the engine and try to hold the water pump blades still. If the water pump spins without the engine that gear/bolt is loose.

Just wanted to give you a heads up when adjusting the valves on your wifes 708. When you pull the cam cover off to adjust the valve shims. The C-clips are spring loaded onto the cam bearings and are very loose in the cover. I found out the hard way and one c-clip fell down the timing chain slot. Stuff rags in tight the best you can and use two magnets and put one over each cam bearing when pulling the cam cover off or you will be tearing that water pump and side cover back off just like I ended up doing. My C-clip ended up on the backside of the flywheel. Also make sure you put a rag in the breather hole in the center of the head as of coarse I dropped a shim down that hole as well. I even had a magnet on the shim bucket and it fell off. Sometimes these things just want to fight you. Lol. Now I am just waiting for gaskets to get here. I also locktited the same nut you did in this video being i had it apart.

That lock tight looked very fluid/runny. Won't that stuff contaminate the oil? (don't forget, I know nothing about mechanics. I'm just askin') . . .
What did you use to clean that aluminum engine cover with? Gotta get me some'a that! . . .

Hey buddy! Yeah for some reason that engine gets a bad rap and people complain about it. Just like on the form board they were talking about that nut coming loose, but as you could see it was tight with no issue. That engine has been fine for 3000 miles. The Loctite hardens so it won’t contaminate the oil.

I actually was looking for torque specs to retighten my water pump onto the impeller shaft, my 2016 Yamaha Kodiak 700 has about 5,000 miles and a 1000 hours engine was over heating was loosing coolant somewhere, my weep hole breather line was pinched off between frame and skid plate with the Yamaha glorified metal bread twisty tie that is welded to frame underneath, it was barely leaking coolant checked oil found that's where coolant was going so had to replace the impeller water pump shaft bc the rubber seal wore grooves into steel shaft, I've got a solution to this problem going to test it out but all these pumps like this need a oiler line like the one I installed on mine to lube the dry space or it's inevitable what happened to me will happen to probably everyone and machine in time. Mine being pinch may have sped up the premature failure of one of the seals.
