I've got a 2016 Kodiak 700eps. I've changed the starter 2x. I decided to check the decompression spring but it's fine. I checked my clearances on the valves and wow they're tight. I was having a hard time starting it and now I know why. I guess I'll be ordering shims today . Thanks for the video it really helped a lot. Much appreciated.
I have 15,000 miles on a 2017 kodiak. checked valves at 8,000 miles, and they were still in spec. i do change the oil, filter, every 1000-1200 miles. Also, keep that air intake CLEAN, wash that filter and lube it good. When I ride in dust or wet conditions, clean air filter every 500 miles. I also use 10/40 Lucas Semi-Synth oil. Tearing it down now to check lash.
Fyi. Chains wear. They do not stretch. They get longer because the link pins wear leaving slightly more play at each link. With so many links in the chain That little bit of play adds up and appears to have "stretched".

1500 miles is prop good time to do valves most wait until its hard to start
What was the diameter of those shims?
How many miles would you normally adjust your valves
Is 550 the same . This seems like lot of work . Some 400 and smaller engine are lot easier
my 2016 grizzly burns oil, all recalls are to late at this point, any one have this problem? What was your solution? thanks.
I’m almost positive there is a service bulletin that is good until September 2025. Did you resolve your issue yet?
Have you ever heard of the oil pump gear coming lose on the 708 engines?
Yes it happened to me. The nut and washer fell off. The coolant impeller stopped spinning.
Won’t need this if you don’t abuse your quad.
Things still wear as time goes on . Valve seats wear and valves tighten . Period . Abused or not
100% wrong!
As Long as you have hours on your quad your valves will eventually need adjustment.
