@stevewilliams6298 they didn't, but the echo map with active captain, you can download maps that other people upload in your area. So I was able to get them that way and a lot more than I had.
Thank you very much for this info you have saved me so much headache and hardship I was worried I wouldn't be able to use them in conjunction and now being I have an echo map and the striker they'll both work together I am extremely pleased I can't thank you enough!
So, if I was to do the transfer on a bench (i.e not in the boat) I assume I would need power to both units before I make the brown/blue connections? Can you stuff things up and brick your sounder if you connect blue to blue and brown to brown in error?
Both units will need to be powered. And no it will not mess them up, I actually did that the very first time before I read the instructions and learned 🤫
Great video. It answered my questions about data sharing, but I have a question regarding transducers. I own a Striker 5 cv and I just purchased a 7 sv with side imaging (which my 5 cv does not have). If I connect the 2 units together with data sharing, so I can have 2 screens for more information to display, if I connect the 7 sv transducer to the 7, can the 5 cv use that transducer for down imaging, etc. or do I need to connect the 2 transducers to each respective unit? Thank you for your anticipated response.
So this will only allow you share data such as waypoints. This will not allow you to see the same thing on all screens. In order to screen mirror you must have a unit with ethernet ports for the Garmin Marine Data Cables to connect the 2 units. This would be the Echomap Series units. Hope this helps and I cleared it up a bit....any other questions just ask :)
A few years ago I purchased a striker 4cv for the sole purpose of putting it on a kayak and to map the unmapped lakes in my area. Finally got around to start getting them done. But I also have a livescope that I only use for ice fishing. Any idea if it is possible to transfer from the 4cv to the livescope?
Your videos are so incredibly helpful. Hopefully not a dumb question, but if I have two fishfinders - let's call my main boat FF1 and second boat FF2 - and I have useful/desired waypoints on both, and I just want to "merge" them basically on both units, is that what happens using the process you describe in the video? Or will FF1 overwrite FF2 if I connect them like your scenario 1 in the video? I'm hoping not to overwrite, but basically keep them both in sync every few months.
I picked up a pair of Striker 7sv fish finders that I plan on putting on the front and rear of my boat. Can I just use one transducer with using these data wires or am I going to have to mount dual transducers?
I would verify with Garmin, but I believe the newest Striker 7SV still would need 2 transducers. I do not thing they can share. I know the newest versions have WiFi capability to share and use Active Captain...so Waypoints and stuff can be stored and transferred easier.
Can you use another unit as a second screen. I have a 7cv on the console and was going to install a 4 in the front of the boat. Does it work like a second screen?
Hey! Do you know if it is possible to transfer topographic data from a Striker 4 Plus (quickdraw maps) to a Striker 4? Even though the Striker 4 hasn't got quickdraw maps it should be able to show them, right?
Thanks for the helpful video. I successfully linked my striker 4 and my 4cv. However, if I mark a waypoint on one unit, the other unit shows the waypoint as 2060 miles away. Any idea why?
As always, excelent explanation, thank you for your hard work. I'm about to decide my purchase and wonder if you can tell me if the 4 CV can be loaded with the community Countour Mapping, for what I've read there is no Active Capitan in the unit, but since it can carry a memory card I was thinking that maybe I can load the card from the computer and install the card in the unit. Do you think it will work ? Any other option?, if it's even possible? Thank you again...
The 4CV can not be loaded with any mapping, it has quick draw contours, which you can create your own maps. I would double check your unit as well, as the 4CV does not have a memory card slot. If it does have a memory card slot it might be an Echomap.
You can still transfer the data as long as you can hook the wires up. Mine are used on different setups to sometimes and all I do is bring them together every now and then to transfer data.
Please am in Ghana and I need striker 4 plus power to connect it to my battery and I couldn't get some so how can I get some and how can I get the sharing data please help me to get some abeg
So I called Garmin to ask since I don't have 2 Vivids to test this out with...They said it will not transfer the map data contours. If you want to transfer the contours to new fishfinders, you would need the Echomaps.
It would be great to use NMEA 0183 wires to link the unit to a PC so that weighpoints and Quickdraw maps can be interchanged. If anyone out there has any info on this - please leave a comment! PS. It's also crazy to think that you cannot add Navionics maps to a Striker Plus 4...
Difícil dizer, eu verificaria todas as conexões.
The only reason to connect them is for data sharing, they will not share transducers or any other info. You can not use one and see the same thing on the other screen. That may be the issue
This is totally awesome!! Just got a Vivid 7cv yesterday and was dreading entering all that stuff from my old Striker 4. Thanks alot!
Check the compatibility, as some models do not link to others...It has to have the blue and brown wires. NEMA 0183
Where can you find which models are compatible?
Garmin website as it’s the most up to date.
Can you transfer the quick draw maps? I have a striker 4 cv and will be upgrading to a echomap UHD.
Did you ever find out if the maps transfer?

all I have to say is you are the garmin pro for sure and they really need to hire you!

Nope....gotta input it all manually if you want to transfer waypoints.
Thanks so much for the great Video. Made data transfer very clear and easy!

Nice!!!! I want one!!!!!!
You should! :) They are very good IMO for the price

They do not overwrite, but you must be sure the FF's are compatible for data transfer.
When real time sharing, can you use one transducer connected to one of the striker 4’s?
No, this only is for data transfer, you can not share transducers or screens

Topographical info will not transfer as it is not supported on the base Striker 4, However any waypoints, routes, or tracks can be transfered.
Nice! I was playing on grabbing another for the Bow. Does this work off one transducer as well?
No it does not, these are strictly communication and data share wires.

Not sure why that may be occurring...sorry never seen this issue...wonder if the coordinate settings and such are the same same on both units?

When doing data sharing should I connect the fish finders to transducers?
Not needed
Does this also allow for both units to work off of one transducer?
No it will not, the 2 wires are for communication data sharing only
One question, my two devices are on different boats, any recommendations?
Thanks

Thanks - Great vid! Will Tracks come over as well?
If they are saved on the other unit, then yes...it must be saved info
Might be a dumb question but are the transfer wires able to power a second device or will it need to be connected to the power source also

Will it transfer all the contour data as well?

Not that I am aware of
Can you adjust the Garman striker 4 cv to do side image
No you can not, the Striker 4 CV will only do down imaging
@@1Cast1Fish one guy said that if you adjust the keel offset that it works.

Question, can you use both at the same time without having to transfer data?
You can turn both on and run them at the same time, just don't connect the brown and blue wires...and no sharing
I have the striker vivid 4cv+transducer. I connected both my old striker and this one, and now I can’t find the clear view. Why?
Do I need to turn off shared data?
The only reason to connect them is for data sharing, they will not share transducers or any other info. You can not use one and see the same thing on the other screen. That may be the issue
The only thing the units can share is the sharable data such as waypoints, routes, and tracks, all other info is not shareable.
How about quick draw contour maps?
All "Data" will transfer...I have not tried to transfer any maps
I follow your channel, I would like to see the option of subtitles in Spanish, thanks, regards
I have had a few requests for this, it may be a future option one day.
Was anyone able to transfer waypoints between a striker and an echomap garmin using this method?
I have gone Striker to Striker, but various Echomap models are also capable, you can look up compatibility on Garmin's website, or give them a call.
