    Super interesting, thanks! That last one, was it a hard bottom with gravel sections?

    • @1Cast1Fish

      Yes it was!
      This area a harder bottom area, and it has a small bit of rock it looks like on the bottom as well.

      @@1Cast1Fish awesome-I would never have gotten that without your video. Thanks a million-super helpful! I’ve been kind of a “bareback” angler for a long time because I’m a kayaker but now I’m moving into fishing some tourneys so I’ve got a lot to learn.

    6:13 its my tuuurn... Based on the first scan it appears hard stroke, second and third more softer which mean my boat passing the coral+weed.. probably both but hard is more dominant 🤔

    • @1Cast1Fish

      I agree that this area has a slightly harder bottom IMO

  • @notkeet
    @notkeet 29 днів тому

    how about the edge/whiteline setting? doesn’t that help in defining the bottom density?

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  21 день тому +1

      You are 100% correct and it is a great tool to use as well. The only downside IMO is it can mask fish and stuff close to or on the bottom.

    Paul. I have a basic garmin striker 4 with the two chirp frequency 77 & I can’t remember what the other is. Anyway can I upgrade to a transducer that will provide me vivid vu? Or do I need to upgrade to a whole different system?

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  7 місяців тому

      You will need to upgrade the to a new unit as well. The GT20 transducer if I remember right is like $100+ and a new Vivid can be had for about 160 or so.

    Looks hard to me. A good second bottom suggests another clear sonar return. Then a third bottom as well
    If it was soft the sound waves would have been absorbed and not returned.
    Hopefully I've read it properly, learned a lot from this video thanks

      Glad this video helped explain things a bit, I have had alot of requests for this for awhile now. As for the image, you are on the right track...this area a harder bottom area, and it has a small bit of rock it looks like on the bottom as well.

    Hi. Using TM275LHW in 20m depth, what frequency is best to determine bottom density?

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  4 місяці тому +1

      Any frequency should work fine, you just want a color that shows good contrast between hard or soft returns, and possibly put the depth in manual and increase it so you can see any 2nd or 3rd bottom echo returns.

    • @Camh1968
      @Camh1968 4 місяці тому

      @@1Cast1Fish fantastic on point response thank you. What colour pallet would you recommend to achieve optimal contrast?
      Do rocks, shells, gravel bottom all have same density colour indications?

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  4 місяці тому +1

      I actually like the standard colors...believe it is called Blue on the Striker 4

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  4 місяці тому

      Not sure on shell, but rockss and gravel are both going to be very hard returns. If its hard and flatter then likely gravel, bumpy then maybe bigger rock...or even sharp angles can be hard stone

    • @Camh1968
      @Camh1968 4 місяці тому

      @@1Cast1Fish interesting thank you. What’s an ideal maximum boat travel speed to establish accurate bottom density images on sounder?

    Hi brother I have a fishfinder but I see fish running, how do I find it through fishfinder

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  6 місяців тому

      Fish must be within the transducer cone area to see on the fish finder

  • @Camh1968
    @Camh1968 4 місяці тому

    I don’t quite understand the voids…
    Why / how do voids below a solid surface appear on the sounder if there is still substrate?

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  4 місяці тому +1

      Has to do with the echo...the void should be about equal to the water depth

      This area a harder bottom area, and it has a small bit of rock it looks like on the bottom as well.
      Look at the thick line for our hard returns . The presence of a strong 2nd and even 3rd bottom also indicate the area is likely a harder substrate.

    This is a terrible video. If it's set correctly, you should not see a second bottom on your screen. No one learned anything from this video.
