Which battle was your favourite? 👇🏻
The one which had *B A S S*
@@lizstiscool5574 yes
I had hoped it would be Laytar. When her video popped up late, it seemed it was over and you had a winner.
Brooo all of them , they were so good. All of them

Is it really true?? I cannot believe this... I'm crying because of happiness, I always wanted to slap a REAL BASS, and now I will be able to do it!! Thanks a lot Charles Berthoud you are amazing, the trophy coming from you means a lot for me, I don't have enough words to describe this feeling..
Great battle! Beautiful playing. Bass, next time? :)
The taste in your licks was amazing! I liked your solo a lot! You deserve the bass! Congratulations! 😉
You deserve it!!!
Your entry was really great, looking forward to a collab with Charles this time with you on the Bass :)
Congrats, enjoy your BASS! 😊
F for Triple Camera Guy, the pandemic affected him so much he lost his cameras

It was hard to choose a favorite. They are all incredible.
All ten were amazing. Loved all of them. Will say she took over your phrasing and made it her own in a way that no one else did. Above my pay grade but cudos to all.
It was a pleasure to participate!!! Laytar did a Great job, Congrats to her👏🏼
I loved the acting / reacting. Your entry was a ton of fun. :)
@@Rattiar Thank you🙏🏽
Awesome playing!
Enjoyed hearing you my man!
You did a great job! Hope you throw more content up on your UA-cam, love watching great bass videos!
My god the quality of musicianship in Charles audience is out of control.
Seriously. Translate this to Japanese next and put it up in Jmetal channels. It'll get nuts then lol.
-_- hm. were you expecting something different?
for a long time, i felt guilty about how bad for music and musicians i thought the internet had ultimately been. and i kind of categorized the effect the internet had on music in the same column with the affect that the internet had on pedophilia and cp type stuff. there's some areas, that the internet actually became a bad thing. and really i didn't expect to say this about youtube of all god forsaken things, but i think the networking between musicians of all walks of life, different preferences seperated by multiple genres, and maybe even amplified by the pandemic, etc is really going to hit the world like a tsunami in the very near future.. and it may help to balance the scales a little bit? the only thing i ever felt guilty about pirating online was music when i saw what we had all done to the industry. the internet has really left some smoking craters here and there if you think about it. lol
but it managed a pretty good comeback i think ultimately. in regards to music at least.
but i don't question whether the internet was good for humanity. just for music specifically, i felt sorta disappointed with the way that went down in the 90's. obviously, breaking the stranglehold that governments around the world had over information makes the internet one of the greatest equalizers in history.
Sax player from Seattle here. I am so blown away by the amazing talent. Although there were so many different styles and musical approaches to the contest, I agree. She has such a unique and beautiful sound!! Congratulations!!
She deserves to win because the harmony was there and definitely she had a presence
Thank you, Charles, 3rd place really pleased me. 🙏 Congratulations to all participants and all 9 others from this selection, they play fantastically. And of course @Laytar to victory. 🤟🏿🥂💥Otherwise, it's quite interesting to have two guitarists in the top 3. 🎸😎
Loved your playing, man. For some reason, your hands did not look as busy as my ear said they must have been.
Also, mad love for that bass. I've never seen a 7 (? unless I miscounted)-string before, and even the 6s I've seen have had insanely wide necks. That actually looks wieldable.
@@CyberiusT Thank you! Actually, it's not a bass guitar but my small custom 7-string TheBone guitar, but I'm looping a lot and I often use it for bass lines. And I really love slap and tapping too. :)
@@PeterLuha I see. Well, the result was wonderful. Thanks for submitting.
Thanks so much for your awesome video!
@@CharlesBerthoud Thank you Charles, I really appreciate it!
And next time we can add more speed. 🙂
Thank you Charles! It was a pleasure to partecipate and thank you for mentioned me in the video! 😍 ( i m glad you liked the dance too ahahah)
Great playing Enrico!
I enjoyed yours a lot, that triplet descent sounded funky as hell! You're a great bassist!
@@Libanass thank you master ❤! I'd hoped to see your killer entry!
@@robertstewart614 thanks a lot 😍
Awesome playing, thank you!
I love the consistent “surprise>appraise>approve” expressions every single response has at the start of the video when you begin to play
Laytar was beautiful, different and so on point.
Loved Peter Luha!!
Enrico showed great finesse mirroring chops.
I know her personally, and I'm impressed mostly because she had an accident damaging her fingers, despite this she kept practicing and exercising, congratulations! You deserve it!
She's amazing, I couldn't tell she had any physical limitations
Tell Her! Don't you stop lady! You continue! Never stop! Never give up your heart! You are who you are, and nothing on this planet can change that!
I was like you and at 17 was playing eruption from Eddie like I was riding a bike. It came to me as if I'd always done it! After about 8 9 months, I had an accident at work which cost me my left index finger. I was devistated! All my dreams were gone! I had 5K in equipment in my bedroom that I couldn't do jack shit with! Full stack 5150, and 6 guitars just laid there with a ton of stomp boxes, and all I could do was cry. After a while I tried to exercise just to stay limber,,,, after talking with my therapist, she recomended I continue. So I did! 2 years later, I was in a band (1994, new years eve on my page!) this was the biggest show in my home town, and is still the biggest sellout in the history of this place! The point is, you are what you are! Whatever life throws at you, you are what you are! BE YOU! Stand and be! Whatever life throws at you, you ,,,,,are,,,, SO BE IT!
She is like Django and Tony.
Her ,?? You mean him.
@@billk9628 When I was in H.S. I had a buddy who was a bassist. He got hit by a car and fractured his arm and I think his collar bone. The whole way he had to hold his arm when playing changed. He worked around it and said he was actually able to improve his technique due to the mobility restrictions.
I also knew another guy just after I graduated. Guy was born with no arms, but used his toes to play both guitar and base. He was a great guy and musician.
Enrico and Tiago were easily the best-sounding recordings.
Tiago was something else :)
Good contest overall
Ruido is the best quintuple camera man
Tiago was probably the best entry imo but tbh did he really need that schecter bass?
@@callmedeaconbooze Probably not! Although, I'm not sure the contest was about who needed it.
Yeah as soon as I heard tiago he immediately should have won. That was nuts.
This is the best mix of Charles’s top picks yet. I’m so appreciative that Charles challenges and shares so much talent presented in his videos. There’s some amazing musicians out there.
I totally agree with your choice of winner. Her jazz chords made sense of the bass line.
what we think charles is doing: picking the best response to give the bass to
what charles is actually doing: converting a powerful guitarist to a bass player
underated comment
God level moves
Hahahaha
I saw Charles eyes say "I'd SLAP, and tap that".
True evil.
Tiago KILLED this one. Pretty sure I could practice my whole life and never reach this level
Tiago was the best by far, but he is a very underrated musician
I agree...but you can find most people will not find the level of playing at all. There is always someone better than you. At the local level, people appreciate it though
By a long shot! That dude easily won that in my book.
Loved tiagos
Really enjoyed this…. Grats to Laytar….great story too !!! But good night… Tiago absolutely smoked this one…👊👊👊ooof
So humbling - so much talent from all contestants- i am in awe!
I think this is the best one so far ... Great work. All the people are clearly outstanding...bravo !!!
Title: her
Vid: shows just 1 woman
Charles trying to create suspense about who the winner is dosent work like that
Yep, huge spoil XD
Also, her picture was the thumbnail... lol He did the same thing with Antonio Romero. 🤔🤷🏽♂️
he did the spoiler :v
Thumbnail too. Not trynna hide it.
There was more suspense waiting for women contestants than that
Wow the standard is so high! Great playing everyone and congrats to Laytar - very well deserved!
It's videos (and channels) like these that make me feel there is hope for mankind yet.
Amazing!
Thank you for introducing us to some amazing musicians. To a layman such as I, I can only watch with awe. Thank you!
Congratulations to all who simply participated. This sounds and looked so fun, and of course very talented musicians!
Tiago was insane. All the bassists where incredible, and congratulations to Laytar.
twins.... yay
Tiago was definitely my favorite submission followed by Mane.
Tiago is the winner!
This channel is amazing .. what a great idea, a wonderful way to showcase some incredible talent. The musicianship and sheer creativity displayed here leaves this old fart totally jazzed and looking forward to seeing and hearing more. Keep it up and best wishes to every musician out there.
I never thought I would see bass players better than you… but these were just nuts!!!
Incredible contest and incredible music.
Thanks so much for including me in the video Charles and sharing your kind words! I really enjoyed recording this and watching all these amazing entries.
Also, of course, congrats to Laytar, that was very well deserved :)
Thanks for your video, great playing!
Mandou bem!
Great job, Rafael! You rocked it, bro, best I've seen you do! Pretty soon you'll be winning one of these!! Peace
Thanks a lot guys, really appreciate it!
Where do you enter for something like this?
All sick players in this video! And congrats to Laytar, well deserved!
What a talented group of musicians! Awesome to watch!
She plays so very beautifully, skillfully well! Very deserving! Charles you are an inspiration to us all! Guitar and bass! Thanks!!!
Thanks for watching my video, Charles! I certainly had a lot of fun. Really enjoyed Laytar’s Kaki King-inspired improv. Well deserved! Anyway, back to making content for my 19 subscribers! Lol
Thank you for having such an amazing community and your generosity Charles!
The last one. So magical!! I played it sooo many times. LOVED IT
I don't know how I did end up this music heaven. True musicians, true instruments and musicians. To me they were all great and with their own style. Love you all guys. Bring out more please. Especially longer version.👏👏👏❤️
Damn, all entries were world class!
I love how triple camera guy played your piece in reverse!! Totally see why you gave it to the girl in acoustic guitar that was definitely the best guitar line anyone could of done for your bass line..another perfect BATTLE vid ty Charles absolutely loved it!!
I feel like she played exactly what Charles would have asked of the guitar player if they were in a band
I am enjoying this. The playing and melody is insane all around. Laytar is epic. Subscribed
Love your videos Charles. Oh and some truly wonderful Bass playing. Thanks for sharing with us. John. Oh I've been watching since the Davie 504 days... keep em coming.
My personal favorite was Tiago's, but all the top 3 were great.
Huge thanks to everyone who participated. This time for me it would have been really hard to pick a winner. Congratulations to Laytar and thanks to Charles and Schecter for creating this contest. I am very happy for this community
All are very good! Gotta say I liked the tone of the bass and guitar together the best. I think you picked the right winner. I hope you two can maybe get together for a collaboration of some sort. So good!
Your name is hilarious
All joy coming out of your vids man , thanks !
So many professional musicians! Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this great challenge! My congratulations to the winner! 😊
Хоть и не показали полное видео, но все равно показали :)

When you have one girl in the contest but the title includes "SHE"....I wonder who wins??????
did not pay attention until now
These days, with political correctness, you can never be sure...
That is really a legit question. I don't have a clue. Will have to wait until he reveals the winner after tons of suspense in the end.
and she’s in the thumbnail lmao
one girl in the contest but the title includes "She"? Hm...maybe the winner was Davie504. Idk
Everyone had amazing talent . Congrats to the winner
The level of skill and musicianship of all 10 of these artists is simply jaw dropping ❤
I agree with your top three, and of course the winner. Her choices of harmonica and tapping and when to use them were very musical and enhanced what you had composed to an even higher level overall. She deserved it.
Tiago bass was made in Mexico by Colibri Custom Basses, its a SC-CN Quetzalcóatl
I love that you show talent from all over the spectrum.
first vid I've seen and subbed. I need a lot more of this in my life. You're brillz.
I could not agree more. Laytar managed to bring a very pleasant melody, using complicated techniques but accessible to the ear. It is as if she had taken the lead from the bass, but without taking its place from it.
Yeah dude, always nice to not be able to pick who is lead in a band, and that not be an issue in any way *8 )
Tiago's playing was really impressive to me, I'm glad you agree :)
It's crazy to me to see how much the bass guitar has evolved in my lifetime. Although I can't play like any of that, I'm still doing fine and have been playing since 1983. Thank you for showcasing everyone in here. They're all fantastic and you're a virtuoso on the bass.
I waited patiently and didn't skip through just to hear her play the anticipation buildup was crazy and as soon as she started playing instantly was gratification to the ears
Loved Micheal Labaki's parts, melodies and responses!!
Tiago Andre's part was amazing too!
Pity that the thumbnail is a spoiler :(
Tiago led those changes sooooo well !!!
Great to see all these great young folk coming up💪
Agree with your winning choice. She is awesome 👍
Congratulations 👏
Thanks for hosting the competition Charles. I'm so glad I entered after all the support in the comments section of the other video. You were right, I had a lot of fun 😁
This is the most bass jamming I've heard that reminded me of Victor Wooten but leaving enough space between 512th notes to be actually heard. And so many players doing it so well. What a great contest. Thanks to all the players who participated.
Such a joy to watch all these amazing musicians.
I
So impressed by Tiago’s part, on the other hand he doesn’t need any other bass than his current one ^^
No kidding his bass looks like a sniper rifle
i thought it was the best but didnt think he should win lol
His bass is from a Mexican brand called Colibrí
This is a contest, no matter if Tiago needs the bass Schecter or not, Tiago was the best and he deserved to win the bass
@@golerogropeli that's probably not how Charles looks at it
More than anyone else, I really got the sense that she was playing WITH you. Anyone listening to those two tracks would think you were in the same room. Impressive.
such an awesome vid. so glad that it randomly popped up on my feed for some reason!
Laytar totally made this hers and was phenomenal. She killed it making the most out of little time she had and the material she had to work with. She's a virtuoso player composer, able to lick off any riff. A brilliant display of dynamics intertwining elegant melodic lines and phrasing. You might spotlight her winning solo in a revisit video for more accolades. She deserves a lot more recognition, so let's hope to see more Laytar later.
we need more of these sorts of events! competitions, contests, simply collaborations. This is so fun to participate in and just to watch. I discovered so many talented people. Cool!
Charles, it was an amazing friendly contest, and a beautiful constructive community full of talents, I am grateful and can't wait for more grooves to spread and more love to give for all of us bass and music lovers, you are a blessing , keep it up Bass mate ❤️
Man, I would have voted your performance oh so up. But sure, what do I know?
@@sisohand249 thank you so much , i really appreciate it :) i am glad you liked it :)
Your part was my fave
@@donniepatt9514 thank you so much donnie, that means a lot 🤘
Michel, you were absolutely BRILLIANT. I get musically why Laytar won but bass on bass, man, you were and are, mustard! Superb man, SUPERB.
I agree with your choice. What a pleasure to play with someone so talented and yet so sensitive to the melody. Music is always about melody and harmony.
Wow, those entries were awesome! Well done guys
It's easier to mesh well with a bass when it's a guitar imo. Tiago was #1 in my heart. lol
All the entries were super impressive. I struggle to pick a favorite! Happy to see Laytar win, though. She's been a staple of excellent musicianship on lots of Charles's collabs. Congrats! Well deserved.
i wouldn't be able to choose one winner really. So much talent and amazing creativity flowing here 😊
Awesome contest! So much talent in one video! I look forward to the next one!
Charles is awesome. He somehow found his prominent niche in the memetastic technical fivemillionnotespersecond UA-cam gig, but still blends in musicality, dynamics and great feeling. And he rewards those same qualities with his winner pick. Let's keep bringing back real musicianship into glorified dexterity exercises.
They all were very awesome, that Tiago was on fire!
WOWOOW that was some serious bass playing! I well beyond intrigued!
how is it even possible to determine?!...ALL are incredible...all are so unique: the tone, the phraseology...creativity!....absolutely great talent: all !!!!
Laytar's use of the harmonics at the same time as the tapping and finger picking? Fuck, man it was executed perfectly.
Tiago is my favorite! 🦎
I don't know shit about playing the Bass, but I can watch this all day!! Beautiful!
Great video! Enjoyed it immensely. Spectacular players with many skills deserving kudos. To my novice ears, Enrico complimented your lead most admirably. It's tough to go 1st.
She was my favorite too and I think she totally deserved to win! I liked the harmony of you too : )
Thank you for making this video! You are one of the best guitar players I ever heard. I like not only the way you are playing, buy also the fact that in your videos you are just yourself. Stay awesome and natural! : )
Her music had me laugh and cry at the same time, she is the true winner.. so much can be felt in a simple melody.
The most random video for my feed but, I really liked every single minute. Well played sir and congratulations ma'am.
Loved Rafael! Nicely done, everyone,
Laytar deserves it but for me it was a tie with Tiago, he's playing is soooooo smooth!
The girl was fantastic and I would love to hear more of this with you two playing together. I have no musical ability and I am tone deff so watching these musicians play so wonderfully is a treat.
Loved the way Laytar blended everything in sooooo seamlessly 😊
My wife and I just happened to come across your video. We watched and though Laytar was the best too... She seemed flawless and had great transition from yours to hers... Laytar was our favorite... Good job Laytar :) and congrats...
im always amazed by the talent you seem to bring out in your audience!
I can't imagine having to pick one out of the lot. Such amazing musical talent!!
It just astounds me the level of playing from so many very gifted players who have certainly put in the hours and hours of effort and sore fingers and thumb!. A Great Watch.
You and all of the musicians are so good.wow!
Tiago was my favourite, dang-nab-it! Fun stuff
Amazing playing all around! I was just like a lot of you at first thinking “why would you not pick someone playing a bass??” But I came around with thinking about “maybe they’re not playing a bass because they don’t have one.” Most of the great bass players we saw...had great basses. They don’t need another one. If you see her thankful comment, it makes sense to give it to her.
Very cool to listen...so many talented people on this planet
