No japanese bassist was stopped during the making of this video.

It's because none were out to battle Davie for supremacy. It was to spread more B A S S
Because Davie can't stop the bassists of his country of origin

As a professional musician, I was simply blown away by the demonstrated level of instrument technique and musicality of all participants in the collaboration. This is amazing, guys.

To find more of Mina, just look for Girlfriend, the band she was in. They did a cover of Perfume's Flash.

You have to be dead to be a legend.
Just discovered him and I couldn't help but sub after seeing how funny, talented, and cool/generous he is.
Yes he do that because in the past, Pewd has raised up his channel by make him appear in one of his video, and because of that he gained a lot of subs.. maybe this one that make davie insipired to mention underated bassist. (sorry for bad english)

The creativity behind collaborations such as this one blows my mind. I stand awed and not just a little envious.
Well said.
I like all Davie's videos, but this one in particular struck me as super positive and humble. He always tries to showcase bass and bassists, but the way he did it here, with that jam at the end, felt especially sweet. I hope Davie will continue to put up such content.
I came here to say that, so left you a like, Davie proving that BASS > Sub count
Yeah, definitely wholesome moment.
Japan has so many great musicians. They just put western music to shame.
Though the bassists especially stand out. He could easily do several more videos on Japanese bassists.
Dude literally collabled with UA-camrs from thousand of subs to some very low subs .
Hiii, would really appreciate it if anyone knows what the name if the song that was covered in 7:16. Thank you very much in advance! ^-^

Exactly. Totally loved it. I wish there was a whole album like that :)

It's a newer style that Polyphia made popular (to my knowledge). I haven't seen it used with bassists though so its cool to see it evolve.

I love your channel and your deadpan vibe. I don't watch as often as I might , but when I do, I bookmark for repeat viewing. But back to the topic of this video, I think Japan has no shortage of great bassists; their groove is fun to watch. And it seems that the five-string bass is what's really happening there. Perhaps the five-string is happening everywhere.
This is not a "bass battle"... This is a freakin country mash up man.
It is really satisfying to see top talent collaborating making something this awesome.
There is little to compare this to. I've watched and shared it many times already, and I will continue to do so. The amount of pure talent and genius on display in this video is impossible for me to quantify. I do not use the E word often. Many people use it often, and they clearly have no grasp of the words gravitas.
The performances shown in this video are truly epic.
That went from bass battle to jam session
I am endlessly amazed at the sheer number of amazing musicians there are out in the world. Japanese bassists: you did your country proud in this video. You rock, guys (and girls).

She's smiling at you like "I make this shit look easy".
Billy Zoom of the band X said he always smiled while playing because he said he loved playing guitar and was having fun and how can anyone look angry having so much fun?
She didn't lose that smile for a millisecond. She could shred in the middle of damn hurricane without losing composure, I think.
It's ok her vid is at like 1.5x speed LOL
@@TheDeluche Was about to say this. It's pretty clear she slowed it down to make it easier to play, then sped it up to make it look impressive.

Bruh I can't get over her posture. She must be so comfortable with bass it's just instinct...

3:58 is a meme refers to the song "Get Down" (ゲッダン). It was originally a bug in the game "GoldenEye - 007", where causes npcs and object starting to move irregularly. Later someone made a animation of that and put the song "Get Down" in the background which fits perfectly and became a meme.
Thank you for informations 👍

The song's name is "Promise", not get down xD
I've watched this more than I'd like to admit. Learned to love all of them in a different way too!
That was an awesome video. I've heard of Band Maid and it's such a shame that they didn't have enough coverage on this video.
But this does not take away the skills of the other Japanese bass players. They are so awesome that I feel like taking out my bass guitar and jam.
Never realised how soothing the bass is. Wish there was a soundtrack of these bass battles that went on for hours.
Same, now I gotta find me some more bass to listen to 🤣.
power of jazzy bass
I agree completely! I'm obsessed after this 😍 I even borrowed a bass from a friend just to mess around with!
Bass is waaay more versatile than people think. In it's simplest form, you have 3 "ways" to play it. pick, pluck and slap. But it can go waaaay beyond with sound, style and use.
@shael522 omg I had the same thoughts!
8:31 I see everyone is also mesmerized by Ayumu's playing....
yep. Its so clean. The harmonics are beautiful.
I don't actually know how he can slide on the strings like he does without failing notes
Legit was taken aback when that part came up, never heard anything like that on bass before.
I felt the exact same way I had felt when I saw Tim Henson in Jared Dines Biggest Shred collab, I mean nothing too overloaded, just pure viruosity and technical things which sounded spectacular
What a gorgeous acoustic bass the first guy had. Great player also!
Good sound quality in your videos David.. thanks 👍
The battle jam is a pure moment of coolness, such a flow, i didn't heard something as good since long.
Yeah I want to listen to that in loop now
Is the jam posted on a sound cloud or Spotify or anything?
I love Mina's whole delivery: like she's an elementary school teacher patiently working through a lesson with one of the slow kids (sorry Davie).
She kept looking at me!
You kept looking at your guitar strings.
Guess who I think won!
I was going to comment but this is quite reflective of the direction I was inclined. I might add that Mina is quite substantially easier to look at also.
Her pleasant demeanor is though she's leading a sing-along with a bunch of toddlers sitting on the floor...... except that what she's doing would actually terrify young children.
Davie lost the "smile battle" against Mina GF Band. That's a pretty big slap in the face 😇
On the smile topic though...
Now if you wanted to see one of the happiest bassist in the world playing in a band, you should check NEMOPHILA's bassist (Haraguchi San), she is usually all smiles in all the vids they do.

Late in the 2000's, bass players were looked upon like lead guitarists in Japan. There was a bass player whose English initials were TRB who inspired the Yamaha TRB bass line. He was an excellent player and a great stage figure.
