Thank you for posting. Cruise Control wasn't working on my 2002 gmc Sonoma. I replaced the control module from the junk yard and also replaced the brake pedal switch. No luck. Came across your video, checked my high mount brake lights and they were burnt out. $7 later I had two new bulbs and the cruise is working again. I am heading on a 6000 km (3728 miles) trip next month and wasn't looking forward to not having cruise control. Thanks again
On a Buick LeSabre... If you push the 'Cruise Control' button and nothing happens (no amber light on in the on/off button) the easiest and therefore the FIRST thing to check is the #14 fuse in the fuse-box under the hood. If that is not the problem, the SECOND thing is check fuses under the steering column. (Under the steering wheel, about where your left knee is when driving). Remove the plastic cover panel (it just pulls off), then remove the steel plate that is under that panel (just four 10mm screws). There is a small black rectangular plastic box with wires sticking out of it. Open the box and you will find three 2 AMP fuses. Check these for a burn-out. They control the lights/function of the buttons on your steering wheel. AND they are not mentioned in the owners manual. This job takes about 10 minutes to do, and it will save you hours or even days of frustration. (I just fixed my own 2004 Buick Lesabre this way; and also fixed a friends 2001 Lesabre this way; so I'm guessing they all have these 2 amp fuses under the steering column).
Oh man... I have a 2001 Saturn S-Series, and now I can't wait to see if this is why I have had mostly not working cruise control for a few years... Thank you even for the little bit of hope! Really need it on the long trips!
Awesome! I hope this video gets to more people 'cos you're right man: nobody (mainly mechanics, of course) don't talk about this. Thanks a lot buddy. Appreciated!!
Hey Happy New Year I want you to know the video really helped me put I just watched it today on 12/31/2021 but I added 4 new bulbs to the 3rd brake light the rear of my 2008 chevy hhr last week and today I checked it on I-10 interstate on my way home from work thanks a lot I really appreciate all the hard work it took to create the video
Hi, This is first video I found with good knowledge so far. Much appreciate your efforts. Want to say my bad luck - brake lights are working fine for me on Renault grand scenic III 2010 model. Steering buttons are diagnosed working good too. Cruise control displays on dash but nothing happens when +/- button pressed, did you find any other reason could cause this ? Diagnostic says fault on position 1 and 2 of pedal potentiometer (intermittent-DTC1525). Another fault was open/short circuit to +12V (DTC0564). This is off warranty so any pointers to save money will be much appreciated.
THE CODE YOU SHOW HERE ARE CHECK ENGINE CODE TDTC0564 THE cruise control switch MAYBE BAD.. YOU MAY HAVE TO DO A CONTINUITY TEST TO SEE IF IT IS SENDING THE SIGNAL TO THE VEHICLE.. GOOD LUCK
You have to make sure that the brake pedal sensor is working.. you have to have somebody press the brake while you're standing in the back of the car to make sure the all the brake lights are actually coming on when you push the brake. If the brake pedal sensor is not working you won't have any brake lights in the back that will cause your cruise control not to work..
No I have not tried LEDs. LED bulbs continuity works different. Cruise control module get feedback from the bulbs let it know the brake lights are off for cruise control to work. If Light bulbs are bad does not get the same signal.so it would not let the cruise control work. Not sure if the LED bulbs will send the same feedback as a normal bulb. 👍
Thank you for taking the time to help others. Never ever would have suspected brake light bulbs!
Thanks for watching the video
Amazing, I almost wasted money on a break pedal switch, but I found this video and now I have cruise control. Thanks
Glad you found the video helpful

Thanks for your feedback👍. I just think how many people have gone to the GM dealer
and paid 80.00 hour to change a light bulb..

The first time you pushed resume not set
Push the wrong button when I did it the first time
That’s crazy thanks man
Thanks for feedback.. Those engineers at GM are crazy.. 👍
Have you tried replacing the bulbs with LEDs to see if the cruise control still works?

Thanx,for clip
Thanks to you
So when the orange light is on does that mean Cruze is off or on
I believe when the light is Orange it's waiting for you to set it. Most GM cars will tell you in the information screen when the cruise is active
