Powerlinx does this also fix the horn not working? The horn works with locking with the key fob or when the alarm goes off but not on the steering wheel. Everything else works on the steering wheel such as volume buttons and seek buttons. Just horn and cruise don’t work.
Thank you so much for this information! This fixed my cruise control on my 2008 Chevy Silverado. The cruise control hasn't worked for 6+ years. Now it's working again with a $10 fix! This seriously works thanks again!!!
Omg I’ve been riding around for 3 years with no operable cruise control. Now here it is........it’s working again. Thank you so much for this video. I caught hell getting that screw off. I was sweating bullets.
I got it today and sure enough it worked like a charm. It probably took 6 minutes to swap out, and cost less than $13. My cruise control works perfectly now, thanks!
Nice video... super simple and to the point. This worked for me too and fixed the issue in 5 minutes. QUICK NOTE: some models, including mine, have the switch on the RIGHT side of the brake pedal. If you look at your brake pedal arm and don't see it on the LEFT side like in this video, then check out the RIGHT side... it'll be there!
THIS IS THE GREATEST VIDEO EVER!!! Took me 5 mins and I have been riding like that for 6 months... i have a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 2wd... I even bought a new cruise control set up and was about to take out the air bag and replace but while watching the video I saw this one!! Thanks again and I already subscribed.
This fixed the lack of cruise control on my 2007 Chevy Avalanche. The part was under $20 and took me an honest 10 minutes to change. Thank you for the video!
Thank you. This worked for me. I had the bolt setup. I put it all back together wrong at first & it wouldn’t shift out of park. Take pictures before you start so you can put it back together right the first time.
I'm so pissed. 4 years ago my cruise quit working and i checked out the internet and the only thing i found was that I had to change some harness and even then was no guarantee, plus was expensive. So I did nothing. I started cruising the state more lately so thought I'd check again and I came across your video so I bought the brake light switch for 12.91 at amazon, took 5 minutes to install. Works like a charm. I have a 2007 Avalanche and it fastens on the opposite side of the brake pedal than yours so I think it's a little easier to get to but I have the same clip. Thanks so much!
Just an FYI. Somewhere I remembered reading that when cruise control acts like this to check all your bulbs. My 08 Savana 1500 van had one of the two break light bulbs above the rear doors out. Replaced the bulb and cruise control is now back in working condition. Easier than replacing tha break switch but only time will tell if I have further problems.
worked on my 2010 sierra 1500, just used the amazon tool to make sure it fit my vehicle because this exact switch wasn't the 1 for me. looks exactly the same though. may even work on both who knows. You are a legend man!
Thanks for making the video. Our 09 yukon would intermittently ignore setting the cruise control until it finally quit setting cruise altogether. Since we get the CC light on the steering wheel, I figured it might be the brake pedal sensor. I know it still might be something else, but I am going to replace this anyway on my 200k mile car. Hi it’s an old video but it’s good thanks, but I want to ask you do the cruise control work and cut off before you change on high speed or work and stop working some times?
Just wanted to say thanks! Watched your video since my 2008 Tahoe was doing the same thing, light in steering wheel button engaging green light but nothing on the cluster when pressing “set.” Changed out this part and it works again. Ordered it through Advance Auto Parts, genuine GM part for $35 and now good to go!
@@gdub14 awesome! Hopefully that fixes it for you. Kind of a pain in the butt to swap it because of the position you have to get in to do it, but very easy to do! 🤙🏼
Found a definitive correlation of brake pedal position and cruise control malfunction / failure on my 2014 Chevrolet Traverse. Non operative cruise control temporarily regains functionality while driving after I use the top of my left foot underneath the break pedal. I lift it upward and towards me, there seems to be 2mm or less of play (slack). When I maintain this slight lifting tension I can sucesfuly engage cruise control, however, the moment I allow the brake pedal to rest without my foot lifting it, cruise control disengages.
Man thank you so much I thought it was the wheel bearings at first They needed to be replaced anyway but I was wrong fixed it with a $10 part yours is a little different than an 07 avalanche the clip was a pain the center of the device goes into the rod and the clip on top of it. Thanks again
mine had a 10 mm bolt holding the clip. orelieys had the part, brake switch they called it. worked like advertised. just need to figure out the daytime and auto lights not turning on.
Hi. Any suggestions? I have an 07 gmc sierra and I've already replaced the brake light switch and still have an issue. My cruise control comes on and works for about 30 seconds, then it shuts off, the indicator light on my gauge cluster turns off too.

Dealership said they replaced a corroded fuse and that fixed it, but it did not. As I drove it home yesterday it did release it
Good video- Just replaced mine today in my 2008. Fixed my cruise control. Was scared when i took it apart and my brake petal fell to the floor, the 10mm bolt holds in it so that doesn't happen correct? Not sure how i feel about that little clip for safety.
What can it be i have a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 single cab 4.8l i replaced the brake light switch and cruise control switch the light comes on from switch but don't work?
is it required to have the contact with the break peddle to connect the cruise control system? I had a hard time getting that clip off so I just hung the connector by the wire and connected it to the plug. Problem is, I could not get the car out of park until I reconnected it to the original plug, at which time the cruise control did not work still
Thanks for sharing. Do you have any advise for the steering wheel volume controls working the opposite direction...Volume up = volume down......Intermittent just like my cruise control like this video.
My cruise wouldn't engage. Checked out the issue and found these video's on UA-cam.
