- In this video we explore our first impressions of Portugal. SPOILER ALERT We LOVED it! Portugal is high on our list of favorite countries and we hope the next few videos show why. We based ourselves in Porto and explored the city (and beach) over 5 days. Come with us for two days getting a feel for this amazing country!
We start off taking the metro into the city center from the airport (SO incredibly easy and inexpensive). Then we check in to our AirBNB and rest up for a day out exploring and trying traditional Portuguese food. On our second day we start off the only way when in Portugal with a pasteis de nata, the famous egg custard tart. Afterwards we go for sandis de pernil at Casa Guedes, one of a few restaurants that Anthony Bourdain made famous. In the evening we’re off the walk across the beautiful Luis I Bridge for stunning views over the Duoro River.

I'm curious about 2 things ... In what way is Porto different than any other European city you've been in, Aimee? And Marshall can you describe what it is that has you so entranced? I love the energy you both share about Porto in this video. 🤩
For me (Aimee) Porto felt more real and rugged if that makes any sense. 😂 It just had this vibrant culture that I think is lost in some of the other really touristed areas of Europe. Marshall says that he loved everything about it, the food, the hills, the river, proximity to the ocean and how inexpensive it is! 😂
