Did you know a normal mayo container lid also fits on the mason jars? I keep all my lids when my mayo runs out and repurpose them on my jars 😊
You’ve got to be kidding me😮! Thank you.
Small peanut butter container lids fit on mason jars too!
@@setapart6937You two are awesome. Thank you.
I use the lids from my coconut keifer :)
@@setapart6937I’m going to check that out! Thanks again.
Freeze the carmel and chocolate sauce in tiny ice cube trays. Just enough for the coffee. Yummy! Looks so good.
Great tip. Ty
Great idea!
My daughter was making carmel at work, and some spilled on the front of her thigh. She ended up with third-degree burns. It not only went through her pants but also an apron as well. Thankfully, she made a full recovery. You are absolutely correct that it should be made without children or distractions in the kitchen.
So glad your daughter healed! Praise God 🙏
oh wow I am glad she is ok
Glad to hear daughter is better! Agree , no children near
@@AcreHomestead Please post the full recipe for the Carmel Sauce Becky. Thanks!
Hello Becky, I just wanted to let you know, since subscring to your channel and watching every single video, I have purchased so many things you use, especially the electric pressure canner and I started canning and growing a garden for the first time in so many years...thanks for the push and encouragement! You have encouraged thousands of us..❤️
SAME! She is such an inspiration! FYI canning is addicting. You will be looking for things to can! My newest project was taking the leftover pieces from rotisserie chickens and freezing them. When I get 3 I will put them in a crock pot with 4 quarts of water and then simmer all day. Then can the broth for homemade chicken broth! Good luck with your garden! 😊
@mom2LandM I haven't canned broth, but I have canned up plenty of chicken, ground venison, Pinto beans, potatoes, Black cherries, those are the prettiest thing in a jar, and right now I'm canning diced tomatoes! It is addicting..I have been dehydrating also! I can't afford a freeze dryer..so the dehydrator is gonna have to do 🙂
She has inspired me the same way but I'm a scared cat when it comes to canning. I want to can my own. Tomato sauce since there won't be much roo. In my freezer with all my freezer meals but afraid I'll screw it up.
@traceythompson7895 I have done 2 batches, I waterbathed in my electric canner, the only issue I am having is some of the jars are siphoning, they say to leave a half inch headspace which seems so little to me for tomatoes lol...but they all sealed...
@@ChildOfGod0777 I’m still learning the dehydrator. I purchased a small one that is round. Maybe one day I can upgrade to one with more trays but we all have to start somewhere. Have you done Basil? My dehydrator didn’t come with instructions so I’m trying to figure out the temp and time….
I see I am not the only one seeing those beautiful flowers in the window behind you. What a wonderful idea to take those green stocks, plant all those flowers in them and then place them on the patio right outside that large window. It is stunning from the dining room and from the patio for outside and inside entertaining!
I noticed the flowers out the window too. They are gorgeous. I could stand & do dishes there for a long time!
Becky - you gave me the little girl giggles from your facial expressions when you knocked the jar over and again after you tasted the left over caramel. I also felt your near panic while stirring the caramel and “it got ugly before it got better”. I absolutely love your channel.
Becky Becky, Becky - NO SHARP KNIVES IN THE DISHWASHER!! hHot water is terrible for keeping your knives in good condition. Another yummy batch of recipes. Thanks friend for being you!!
I could see making a gift basket with apples and pears and putting a little jar of the chocolate and caramel sauce in there....plus some other goodies! Thanks for the idea! Hope you have a terrific time with friends
Yes! I was thinking the same thing. A coffee, ice cream, or fruit inspired basket come to mind!
What a great idea! Thank you.
Great idea!!
Good idea 💡
Peanut butter jar lids work also
The flowers are flourishing and the backyard looks beautiful through the kitchen window 😍
Yeah! Foxgloves 😍
My caramel is even easier. Heat the sugar on its own without water, on medium to high heat(quicker), add the butter next when it’s the right colour, saves all that frothing up, then the milk or cream and return to the heat if necessary to thicken it. Easy peasy, but like your friend said - don’t take your eyes off it!
No corn syrup?
Becky, I just wanna say you are a complete inspiration you have found me a new way to have joy for my family and preserved better and I just wanna say how much of a treasure you are. You got me back in the canning when I have not canned in almost 2 years and the food prep, and wanted to be healthy for my husband and my children, I thank you. You are very humble and I learn a lot from you.
I 2nd everything you just said!!!!
There are just the two of us. I love ha ing dinners I. The freezer for those days when I don't want to cook.
Same here ...
I started canning and had really quite some success with it.
But because nobody of my friends, neighbours or acquaintances cans I gave up on it ... lack of stimulation I suppose ...
Thank you so much ... 🎉
Homemade vanilla ice cream with those would be phenomenal! 🤤 ❤
Chilled heavy cream and chilled sweetened condensed milk make an awesome vanilla ice cream.
Remember if anyone makes these sauces let them cool before putting the lids on or they will get condensation inside the jar. Better to let it cool then cap it and put it in the fridge x
I don't really leave contents often but, I wanted to thank you. I spend a lot of time watching your videos for ideas but also I find you and your channel so wholesome. You inspire me to try my best all the time without creating an atmosphere of perfection and keeping up with the Johnsen's. I also just had my first baby. Also a boy and how much you get done is really a great push for them days when I am just tired but need to get up and do something productive!!
Giving you a great big virtual hug Tara! Being a new mom is tough! I’m glad you found some inspiration in Becky and I sure hope your hubby is as helpful as Josh! Take care sister! (My two boys are all grown now so they take care of me now but I miss the snuggle days)
Becky, you’re the whole package, the REAL DEAL !!! I love your recipes, your videos, your personality! I’ve been following you since Covid and your first video. You’ve come a long way and you are in for a bright future! Love it!
And if you keep cooking that choc sauce…it turns to crackle when poured onto ice cream. So good. I’ve Been making it for 50 yrs! ❤️
Me too, I'll be 51 n my mom would make it n poke holes in a yellow cake n pour it on for us as wed stand in line with our cake 😊... So good 😋❗Brings back memories for me, 😇 Mis my MOMMA dearly , we did everything together n my best friend 💯 😘 ❗
**Growing Tip:You can take your green onion bottoms/roots, prop them up in a small shallow bowl, add some water to cover them halfway. Place them in a bright window. Change water every few days. They will grow and you can plant them in your garden :)
Hi there @lotus. 😁 Just wanted to respond to you since I was thinking the same thing when I was watching and we generally don’t get any acknowledgment to comments with everyone being so busy these days. I have been using the same green onions that I started that way in my flower pot on my back porch (off the kitchen) since I planted in January! I feel like it’s a personal challenge now to see how long I can keep these little champs going! Just incredible! My husband puts them in his cottage cheese with salt and pepper. 👍 Have a super day! Hugs from Vancouver Island B.C., Canada ❤🇨🇦❤
I jus put mine in cup from my 1st bunch of onions I got this year, the bigger ones i cut tops off n am drying them n put in fridge to keep on hand,
💞💖💞❗...
If those green onions were store bought or had been in the fridge for an extended period of time, they will think they are on their second year and grow scapes. I let one go to seed, and now have hundreds of green onion seeds from one regrown root.
That Caramel sauce almost left you speechless.
It must have been really good
Thanks for sharing👍❤️
This is EXACTLY what I needed! I’ve been trying to figure out how to make fancy iced coffee at home for these hot summer days without wringing out my wallet! Thank you!
The way your eyes popped open with that first sip!!!
Have to make it now.
When we used copper pans in school we would take a brush with water and gently rub the walls so it would run down to prevent crystallization.
I second this information.
I loved the way you could not contain your smile when you tasted the salted caramel sauce. It has that effect on me too!😍😂 Thank you for all your sharing. I’m 64 and you inspire me to try new things all the time. You are a gorgeous girl. You must have a very happy hubby. They say the secret to a man’s heart is in his tummy. I have been married for 41 years and I can vouch for that!😂😍
Becky love the show. Where do you get the energy.
Even when I was young I could not have kept up with
You. May you have a great life in your lovely home.
No for some constructive criticism 😂I’m OCD about words.
It’s Caramel Sauce! Looks fab. Take Care and God Bless.
Dee☘
Girl, I love you! You're so hilarious when you taste something! I love that expression! You're always so much fun to visit with. I'd love to be your neighbor.......we would never get anything done because we'd be laughing at ourselves!
The smile on your face when the caramel sauce was perfect is awesome!
You can make caramel with just a can of condensed milk a crockpot and water. Take the paper off the can put in crockpot add water over top off can cook on low over night next day you'll have a can of caramel
I would absolutely love it if you could publish your own cookbook someday Becky! You give me so much inspiration in the kitchen!
Yes! I agree! Finally a cookbook with normal ingredients 😂
@@annin-durhamuk2015 these aren't but she does have many on her blog she could put in.
Wonder if she can just give credit for source, same way you would in a term paper? Or else… if you change anything in recipe I think it becomes a ‘new’ recipe
Regular sized peanut butter lids fit perfectly on mason jars. If you go through a lot of peanut butter then you are all set. for reusable lids.
One tip: Spray your measuring cup with Butter Spray so the Cream will pour out easily.
Just had an Idea: Leave a little more Carmel Sauce in your pan next time. Let cool, but still liquid enough to spoon & drop.
Drop by small spoonfuls on to a frozen cookie sheet, & freeze. You can have Frozen Carmel Coins when you want a treat.
I discovered that the lids from the PB we use (1lb jars) fit perfectly on a regular mouth mason jar
I'm 33. Growing up my mom taught me how to make candy by testing it in cold water. I was initially excited to get a candy thermometer, but it's seriously useless junk in my kitchen. Once you master candy making, family movie nights with candied popcorn it really easy. My kids always ask for specific colors
Thankyou for showing how to make healthy versions of condiments for making fancy coffee drinks.
The view from your kitchen window is gorgeous 💕
Your bringing me back to the day that I had to do chocolate sauce and caramel sauce for a practical for baking in pastry Arts, class.!
Yesterday I made buttermilk biscuits, pb cookie and molasses cookie dough, and pizza dough for my freezer. The biscuit and pizza dough were recipes I got from you in a prior video. You are such an inspiration to me. I can't wait to get my electric came so I can do some of your canning items. Keep doing what you do, because you truly are helping people. ❤
I make salted caramel sauce with just canned coconut milk , brown sugar, salt and vanilla. Let coconut milk and brown sugar simmer till thick. Take off heat and add salt and vanilla. That’s it! Soooooo good! Use on deserts and to make the best iced coffees. ❤
(Full fat coconut milk. The new Azure coconut milk works amazingly for this recipe!)
Thank you for sharing this, @caleyphilipps4314 I needed a non-dairy recipe!!
My husband makes me cold brew in the French press. He just grinds the beans, puts them in the French press with cold water, and puts it in the fridge overnight. The next morning when I wake up I just push the plunger down and enjoy my cold brew!
For anyone watching this video way after it was posted- I can confirm that I’ve made this salted Caramel several times and even tho I had never made caramel before- it came out perfect the first time and every time I’ve made it since then! I’ve literally never had any issues before until tonight and here’s where I messed up.
My pot was already scorching hot when I added the ingredients because I had just cooked several things on the stove, then washed the dishes and put my pot back on the burner that was still super hot.
So be sure to add the sugar, water and corn syrup into a barely warm pot and then crank the heat up a little so it gradually heats up together instead of scorching from the pot being too hot when adding the sugar
If anyone is interested tootsie rolls are just chocolate caramels so if you make the caramel to chewy temp and add chocolate you can cut up homemade tootsie rolls or chunks to put them in cookies!
The hanging flowers outside your kitchen window are gorgeous! Pretty swinging in the wind.
When I make caramel sauce I never add the water when cooking down the sugar, it's a bit more tricky and you really have to watch the sugar like a hawk because when it starts to melt it can burn really quickly, but I found each time I used water to cook down the sugar I just get huge sugar crystal that are super hard to melt. Also never use anything metal to stir with it'll mess up the temp, just use wood or silicone
Becky, I agree 100%. Tacos for lunch or dinner everyday!
I've been using those lids for years. When I gift my homemade garden salsa, I put one of these lids in a baggie and tie to jar with twine/ribbon. Always appreciated as much as the salsa.😊
Lids: you can also use mayo lids and 16 oz peanut butter lids and they fit in mason jars!!! once I open a jar, I'll reuse the PB jars while the jar is in use/ in the fridge.
The view from the kitchen window looks so picturesque that it doesn’t look real … it’s like a beautiful painting
Well done on your garden
Oh my girl is going to love this one! She been making fancy coffee this summer so now she can experiment with some sauces. ❤❤
What a blessing to have a window!
And on top of that a window with a view like that! ❤🙏 Beautiful! 4:22
Becky, you need to make tea towels or potholders or a mason jar that say, "that's incredible". Love your videos.
I love caramel anything!!!
"My life has just improved for knowing this recipe "! That statement will make me smile for the rest of this day!😁
Thank you Crystal for making Becky so happy 😊
I don't like coffee... but that looked good! I've got to get some of those lids too! I recently FINALLY got all the pasta, grains, baking essentials and just all the stuff into jars. Some are canning jars, some are older jars... different sizes and types. I love it! I've learned that if I like a jar but the lid isn't silver I can simply spray paint it my color! Easy! I've even reused jars from pasta sauce. Alot of them have measurement markings on the side. I'm loving my clean, neat, shiny glass kitchen!!!
peanut butter jar(18 ounces) lids fit a regular mouth mason jar also
I love your expressive eyeballs! They say everything!
Yum! I’m making this! And getting the mason jar lids too! Thank you & Crystal! 🥰
The dutch use wax paper to wrap cheese so the bees wax cloth is spot on as a good wrapper for cheese.
You should have a designated knife for onions, the "juice " of the onion dulls the knife blade. Most of my knives have a dark handle so I got a knife with white handle just for onions. It only requires a quick rinse.
Well now we all want to make that caramel sauce. 😂 always so lovely to watch your vlogs. Big thank you ❤
You can throw coffee grounds in the garden as fertilizer and to keep certain pests away.
As always, Becky! Great recipes and ideas! I love your videos!
Just found your channel today, and I am loving it!
Becky, every time you looked up at the camera while tasting the caramel sauce l had to laugh. Your eyes give you away! I have never made caramel but l think l can after watching you do it.
It’s such a great ingredient to have on hand, it’s always in my fridge for an emergency! Hahaha! Cake filling between the layers, icing ingredient(caramel buttercream), ice cream topper OR ice cream flavouring ex. Just plain Caramel ice cream or chocolate caramel swirl with peanuts or vanilla caramel swirl with canned apple pie filling chopped up in little pieces …………sigh. Sorry, I got carried away. I have to go get something going in the kitchen now! Hahaha. Have a great day! Sorry for rambling! 👍
Becky, this I absolutely one of my most favorite videos of yours because you shared how to make Ives’s coffee, chocolate sauce & salted caramel sauce!!! Thank You!!! Also, your breakfast baked sounds amazing and I will try it too.
Becky, I love the expression you make when you are tasting food! Priceless!
Becky, I’m OBSESSED with how gorgeous the Greenstalk is outside the kitchen window! What a gorgeous view!
I make my caramel sauce in my Pampered Chef cooking blender. Love it!
If you save the lids from the large jars of mayo and peanut butter they will fit on the quart small mouth jars.
Thumbs up... just because, the look on your face when you tasted it!
Making your own chocolate syrup and caramel sauce does tastes better than store bought! Your are correct that they freeze wonderfully. I freeze both in 1/2 pint jars for ice cream sauce etc or have on hand for a quick gift. I use the recipes from Alton Brown's Chocolate Sauce and Bobby Flay's Caramel sauce, both are super easy.
Caramel sauce is made with white sugar and butterscotch is made with brown sugar. Just like broth is made with the meat and possibly skin and stock is made with bones and possibly the meat and skin.
I’ve heard that you can put a can of condensed milk into a crockpot full of water on high overbite and it turns into Carmel. I’ve been meaning to try it.
That's actually dulce de leche which is similar to caramel but made differently.
Yum! ☕ Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! All looked delish!
Looks fabulous!
Love your enthusiasm and joy!
😂 I feel your pain of standing there waiting on the Carmel.
I was at a chefs table for Wolf appliances and so he was making Caramel and added white miso paste. Very tasty
Thank you for the recipes.
I love cold brew! Thanks for the ideas!!
I'm trying all of these recipes! Thank you!
Everything looks perfect!
Speaking of bees wax wraps, I make my own - so simple to make and really inexpensive too. If you’d like the “recipe” I can send it to you.
Hi pls do send "recipe". I'm sure a lot will be interested. Thanks dear 🙏
Would love the “recipe” of making beeswax wraps. Thank you.
Everything you made looks wonderful ‼️
Great video. Thank you so much.
I can’t wait to try this caramel recipe! Thanks so much for sharing! 🌺 Jen
Love you! You’re so relatable. I don’t watch normal cooking shows but this is my jam!
Wow that coffee looked so good!
Love your dog! So cute! 🐶❤️🐶❤️
Hey Becky... For a small batch of cold coffee a French press might work. ☺️
I’m so excited to make this caramel & cold brew!❤
I can't wait to try this caramel recipe! Thanks for this. :)
Try 59/50 heavy cream whipped snd marshmallow fluff. Whip cream, the whip in the marshmallow fluff, i use my emulsion blender… top snd bottom your cold brew… omg additive!!!
Definitely want those recipes. The look great.
I love that you scrape your bowls and pans and don't leave any goodness for the dishwasher!
I love 'the look' when something is yummy!
❤ making several things when I’m in the kitchen. Makes so much sense to save time.
You should consider getting a milk frother. SO much less work and washing up than using the blender. I have a warming milk frothers and absolutely LOVE it. One of the best kitchen gadgets I own. It froths regular milk very well. I'm not into gadgets, but this is a good exception.
I need to make that caramel! Thank you Becky and Crystal!
The carmel and chocolate sauces look delicious!
Thank you for sharing. Looks delicious.Have to try it sometime!
That caramel sauce looks so delicious Becky!
That is some beautiful Carmel sauce.
