Oh my, the first time I have read all the comments. My goodness, some need to get a grip. Although I'm older than Becky's mom and hate to cook, have no family to take care of, dislike yard work, don't have a garden (air plants die in my house) I enjoy the videos. So much joy and wanting to share, so don't be nit picking and just enjoy.
Another tip…if you are painting your whole house one color, only paint one room. Live with that room for a bit before painting the rest of the house. I’m about to paint the inside of mine and still can’t decide a color.
For my new home, I used a color I loved at my last home, (Essential Brown). The problem is my last home had 5 times more windows compared to my new home. I hate it in this home and have to repaint.....
Lucidity is a gorgeous colour! It’s a tinted white, which amI was completely against, but it can look a vibrant light green, blue or grey depending on how the light hits it.
I'm gonna be honest, I was sure that once you had a baby, you will understandably neglect youtube a little bit. You not only stuck to your intense every-other-day schedule, you've started your garden, took on pantry challenge and decided to paint a house. I am starting to suspect you are the next level of human evolution when it comes to productivity. It's insane.
What a blessing Josh is! He is patient and supportive, everything a person who is looking for a partner wants and needs. You, Baby Acre and Josh are a blessed family. So wonderful to see such a great family dynamic.
Well stated! My sweetheart and I are 64 & 66. I call us “team us”.. we’re highly productive folks and each of our contributions get the jobs done and give us a beautiful life.
Yep, but at some point it gets to be too much. My husband would not be helping if I were this picky. This is how marriages fail. The home was already beautiful. I imagine he figured it was easier to get on with the project than to listen to it day in and day out. Yes, I have been married to the same man for 35 years. Would never do this to him.
@@texasjones9541 I agree that we can never possibly see everything through a one YT video but on the contrary, the fact that she felt comfortable enough to confess to him that she didn't like the paint although she felt terrible about it and her husband showing that he is okay with it and trying his best to remedy the situation shows not only how much respect they have for each other but also for their ownselves! Becky in being true to herself and not hiding her true emotions to her partner in fear of '' upseting him and being picky lol'' and Josh in being so understanding, patient and accepting that we all do mistakes and not considering it as the end of the world or the last straw as yourself tend to think ! That's how a marriage should work. Jokes on you.
@@Samsam0017 Trust me he was disappointed, but of course why would she share that. I would respect my husband enough not to expect him to entertain this indecisive idea. I just cannot imagine being such a picky person, get a grip it is a paint color. Wasted time, money and energy. It was so close in color she spent 2 hours using the old color to cut in before she realized it. Unbelievable! Only joke is the stupidity of it all.
Long ago, I had a painter give me a tip. Use an offset drywall knife when cutting in. It gives you a great line and protects from getting paint where you don’t want it! My mom had some rental properties and I worked for her. I painted every house! Using the knife went so much faster because I didn’t have to take time to tape.
My father was a coach painter before cars he actually hand painted several of the coaches belonging to the royal family. When he started working on cars they were all hand painted. He was actually called out of retirement to hand paint several coaches and cars belonging to the late Queen. So yes he knew a bit about painting he actually disliked to spray paint. He taught me how to paint. My husband started to paint nursery in our first home and after 5 minutes I chased him out there was I 8 months pregnant up the ladders as he begged me to let him do it check no. 55 years later all he's all Also he's allowed to do paint wise is help prep surface and carry on the paint we decide on.
I've said this before, but I have to say it again. I'm always SO hard on myself whenever I make "mistakes." Especially when they cost us money, but also time as well. And I SO appreciate the way you handle any mistakes or accidents that happen in the course of your life. You just acknowledge it, make peace with it, clean it up and move on without beating yourself up over it. Of course that's the only thing you can and should do, but I've always really struggled (and mostly failed) to do that. As I said, instead I have all sorts of major anxiety and either settle for what I don't want or mercilessly beat myself up over it. You're really helping me see that it's just not worth doing that. Life's too short to do that. Just need to clean up any messes I make and move on with joy and a light heart. You go girl!
My husband and I moved into our new house in 2020 while I was pregnant. Skim coating and painting these walls changed the whole home. You made the right choice to repaint. Not because your first choice was bad but because your 2nd choice made it feel like home. I'm glad Josh supported you with grace.
Hi Becky! As someone whose been following you for a year and a half, I've picked up so much knowcledge about gardening and cooking... and if you can believe it I've now been blessed with the land and and the man! What was a little fire in my heart is now manifested and its such a beautiful blessing to witness. I have two suggestions/questions for videos: 1. As someone whose getting started in gardening, can you share a list of the influential books you've read that have guided you? Youve shared a few, but maybe a put together list/explanation video would steer me in the right direction if thats something you think others would be interested in. 2. I love the look of your nails, but I can't keep up with doing my nails all the time (im not good at it, i dont have the money for the salon, and I don't want something super time consuming). What do you do to your nails? I feel like your efficiency and economy conscious like me, so I'm wondering how your nails are always looking so $$$. Thanks!
Hello! Becky said in an older video she has her nails professionally done. I remember she explained she cuts her own hair, but having her nails done makes her happy😊 I remember the hair part because I have a family member who does the same. Kim from The Wads commented she uses a gel finish coat that doesn’t need to be dried with the black lights. She said her nails last nice longer.
I live in England and have been following you for a while now. You are such a lovely family and so busy! I'm in my 60s now and raised my family but it's so nice to see you both bringing your young family up . I will be married 48 years in November. All my very best wishes and love that you have a long and healthy happy life to you all 😘😘😘😘
I love that both you & Josh are so polite to each other no matter what goes on. If Josh does something for you, you always thank Josh. When you book or bake something & Josh does a taste test, he always thanks you for your efforts. So kind and so very loving.
Can I just say, it makes me so happy when I hear Little Mr. Acre making his baby coos in the background of your videos and voice overs. Baby noises are just precious. I hope you don't ever feel the need to cut them out. I also love hearing Josh in the kitchen when you are in there working, it's his home.
Ok we just moved and I was going to hire a painter but after seeing you do this with a newborn I just know my hubby and I can tackle the job ourselves! You are an inspiration! It would be fun to have a “relaxing with Becky” video so we can make sure you actually do indeed relax 😂
Sara, Becky can’t do a relaxing video😅. Even when she goes on vacation she plans and executes learning lessons for us 😁. I bet if Josh videotaped her sleeping, her rapid eye movements would be off the charts! Her channel is in my top 3 UA-cam lineup. 👍🏾
Good morning! It’s nice seeing Josh working with you miss seeing him around he is so sweet by having you pick what is most pleasing to you, I just love seeing him be so kind and loving in his little ways you got a good man Becky! ♥️
I love that you recognized your husband's contributions to your family. You make a beautiful team!! I also love hearing your bundle of joy in the background 😍 💕 ❤️
Ah painting….my expertise. I owned a few painting companies when I lived up North. We did high end residential and Commercial painting. This is amazing to watch you paint. A girl after my own heart.😁 Great job Becky.🎉 Tfs🤗
Josh is a very good husband. He seems so supportive. You are very blessed. Hearing your baby when you were doing the voice over was a delight. I am so very happy for you! Thank you for your tutorial on cutting in, I have always have been scared to cut in.
Love your channel has grown but i hate all these trolls. Also to everyone commenting on how amazing she is, seriously she's human, she has a husband whom IS involved. You guys need to stop pretending that she does everything by herself. She "works" from home. Its very simple to film yourself while doing things. Editing and loading videos is not hard to do. So stop pretending she is this magical person. A normal person (non youtuber) gets just as much done so stop putting her on a pedestal as if shes the only person in the world that actually does things. I guarantee you of she was a single mom with no help things would be very different. Its extremely easy to get things done when you have an involved partner willing to help!
She is doing a fantastic job with the baby..she just stops recording to go and take time out with him if he's hungry or he needs cuddle time..l love that!!
Becky, I love the new paint color! Looks fantastic! You and Josh make a wonderful team! Baby A is so blessed to have you both as his parents. Love from Melissa, in the mountains of Virginia. 🙏
When you have to stop painting in the middle of a wall, so you will have a joint, stop with a very lightly painted and jagged (like a zig-zaggy) edge. When you stop with a straight, fully covering, edge, you very easily get a visible line after the whole wall has been painted. 🤗
Yeah the new color looks better already. The first one seemed too yellowish. I've repainted every room I've ever painted. Its so hard to know with a swatch. Glad you're doing it. Your living room is where you're going to spend so much time. Its worth changing.
“It is only paint,” is my motto. One year, back in the 1990’s, the day after Christmas, when I had a week off, I started sponge painting my living room. I had two colors done and ready to begin the third color. As my husband left for work about 6 am, I said, “I don’t think I like this.” By the time he got home, I had the living room back to a soft white. I eventually found the perfect color but, it became a joke among our family that the LR walls had “10 coats of paint.” It was only about 8 before I sold it last year. 🤷🏼♀️
We looked at a home in the 90s where every surface, kitchen cabinets to light switch covers, were sponge painted. I couldn't imagine how much paint it would take to cover all that, so we moved on.
Becky, you and Josh are an amazing team!! You are open and honest with each other, understanding, respectful and there for each other! I so admire this. So many marriages don't have this but from the examples from your parents it's no wonder! Thank you for sharing your lives with us UTUBERS ! You are an incredible inspiration to all of us. Many blessings...
😂 I'm so glad to meet Josh, at last. You are a very inspiring young couple! Love watching your myriad of projects, all done with so much humility and gratitude. ❤
You should always cover your floor when painting, I think. I prefer a painter’s paper which is thick and stiff and stays in place… It’s just nice to be sure you get no tiny spots from the roller or bigger spills from accidents… 🤗
So true! Rolling can make spatters on an unprotected floor that can be felt if you rub you hand over the floor, but might not stand out to the naked eye. And no one is perfect, so a covered floor can prevent HOURS of clean up after an accidental spill!
Watching her spill paint and drop her paintbrush on that gorgeous solid shipboard floor was so cringey. No respect for the previous owners that had to hand lay that floor from underneath the house with wood screws and finish flattening the bending -again by hand -from the top.Complete disregard for the carpenter artistry and other folks' intense efforts to perfect that wildly beautiful shipboard.
I 100% agree with you, Becky. I like the new color much better. Too much beige tones to the old one at least on my computer screen lol. I usually buy my paint from Lowe's. They have smaller sample sized containers you can purchase to try out before actually "taking the plunge." I never could paint at night. Even with bright lighting, I never was confident of what I was doing lol.
If you cover the tray in plastic (cling wrap works too) you can leave paint in the tray for up to 3 days (as long as you get the cling wrap right up against the paint to limit the amount of air that hits it. This also works for paint brushes and rollers, just wrap at least 2 plastic grocery bags around them and squeeze all the air out. If you come back the next day the paint will be perfect to work with, but I have had life happen and didn't get back to it until the third day after and it was still fine. Happy painting!
I love it too. I wonder if having the couch with it's back to the wall, creating a much more open room, would allow easier placement of additional single seating. But then the TV would need to be placed elsewhere.
I’m so proud of you for painting over the color you didn’t like sooner than later. I painted my living room and hated the color but waited 4 years to fix it. You’ll be so happy you did this.
Yes! I painted our living room burgundy and grey and the burgundy was on the purple side when it dried and they grey was too light and had a slight pink hue. I waited over a year to redo the colors and I absolutely love it now. I nolonger hate looking at my walls
My husband would've said " you picked that color live with it" Josh bless his beautiful heart said its just paint, go pick out something you like He just wants his Becky to be happy - He's so sweet, and its so noticeabe they're over the moon in love with each other 😊 Very well suited couple
I moved into my house 2 years ago and I have always hated the paint color and wanted to change it. This has given me some inspiration to finally do it. You are so right having a color you don't like does affect how you feel.
That beige color is the color of my first house and I swear it affected my mood so much. I felt like I lived in a beige prison or something. We finally painted the house when we were getting ready to sell it and I wish we had done it sooner. Those few months living there with the new paint color was like night and day. Your husband was so right. Its just paint and if you don't like it change it!
The new color looks great Becky! I believe the walls should disappear to allow your furnishings to stand out. The new light gray is much better than the beige. ❤
I’m in a condo with only north facing windows, so I knew I’d need something with a warm tone, which goes against my personal color palate, I decided on Navaho White, which is a warm white with no yellow at all. It’s the perfect color for my situation. So, we all know how important having walls that you feel comfortable living in.
I LOVE the original color your painted your home, but I totally understand when it is not what sparks joy for YOU! Hubs and I are about to start a remodeling project and he sounds so much like Josh in paying attention to detail! I am like you and am not as 'picky', but the outcome is always so much better when we let them take that lead. (Hubs is also a retired computer programmer so I think that is where the heightened attention to detail comes from.)
So funny that my daughter did the same thing painting and redid everything. Same colors! (Well except she went with agreeable gray) I love the shade you picked. This is going to help you so much! It’s gorgeous and I feel goes with your property and simplistic style just perfectly. It’s a restful shade. ❤
When working on a paint job, I wrap my brushes/rollers and put them in the fridge. If I’m having a bit more of a break, I put them in the freezer. Usually they thaw really quickly, just getting them filled with new paint helps thawing faster. I have had a roller in my freezer for months and it was still great! Works with water based and oil based paints. 🤗☺️
I LOVE this new color! It is already making your space so much brighter. I understand the guilty feeling. Good for you for getting a color that you love. You are still so new to the house, making this change now will be so worth it.
I think we all know (or should!) how much Josh does help you and Baby A.... we can tell he is a sweet soul just like you. But it is still so kind that you're always sharing how much he is there supporting and helping with all the things. I hope nobody is questioning his efforts. ❤️❤️❤️
@judygillespie3242 ya idk why, either. But she's mentioned before how he's helping or what he's doing because people are wondering. 🤷🏻♀️ ...I'm not sure about him doing more lol but I don't think that detail really matters. They both do equal parts, I have no doubt. ❤️
I love the new wall color! You and Josh remind me so much of me and my hubby! Josh did such an amazing job on the trim! That house is so perfect and you will be thrilled to have this behind you! I love your video’s so much and want to thank you for being there for us! 👏🏻❤️👏🏻❤️👏🏻❤️
This is so encouraging. I currently need to decide between a beige and a "warmer" grey for our living room and I was fearing the same outcome. Also, in my hallway I had to use some lower quality paint in one area because the store was out of the high quality one and guess what, it looks terrible and I need to repaint it. I was so bummed about it. Now I feel encouraged to just get on with repainting it and also, to chose the grey and not the beige for the living room! 😀
I love the new color of paint. It not only lightens the home but gives it a really nice Sheen. I love watching your videos and that baby A is so adorable. You also have a great husband too.
Good idea to try it out in different areas. The Light specific to your location makes a huge difference! When you purchase a wall mount for the TV, make sure you can pull it away from wall so your can clean and repaint if you want to.
I just love your guys' relationship. It's so sweet to hear you sing your husband's praises and to see him being supportive of you. It's so nice to hear him being so appreciative of what you do and to hear you appreciate him too. You know that this is not as common as it should be when so many of your comments are about how loving and stable your relationship seems. I hope you're a positive example to someone who needs to make a change or who is trying to grow a healthy relationship (as well as a healthy garden).
So many useful tips and so much motivation here (especially from Josh about the paint roller rod thing). I painted my walls about a year ago and I did such a poopy job with it. It makes me frustrated every time I look at it but I felt defeated thinking that I wouldn't be able to do it any better but this has changed my mind!
I'm so glad Josh said "It's just paint"!! That's so true and one of the easiest things to do to change the whole look / atmosphere!! Although it can be hard work to do. So just take it one wall, one room at a time. Living room is a great place to start so you can decorate and make it cozy. Then do whatever room is next highest on your "want to get it done list". Love you Becky!!!
I painted my entire house last year and after painting it i didn't like the color. But after the money and time my husband and i spent painting we just decided to live with it for a few years before we paint it again.
When I was pregnant with my third son, I painted the baby's room a "light blue". My husband came home from work and the room was literally GLOWING! Needless to say, he wasn't happy and I was in TEARS! Also, when we bought our new home 4 years ago, we chose agreeable gray for our walls. After we moved in, that color on every wall was just too much and I have since started taken to painting and adding color to different rooms, so I completely understand not liking the color you chose after you look at it for a while. BTW, LOVE YOUR SHIRT (That's where I'm currently from) 😄
Just posting to spread some positivity! Thank you for sharing with us. Your videos are awesome and my favorite thing to watch! I have learned so much from you. Feels like I’m hanging out with a friend and as a mom of 3 I neeed that lol. Your doing great things momma!☺️
I think an area rug would go a long way towards warming up the room and giving it a cozy vibe. Its a big room so its hard to achieve "cozy" with all that wood floor. Love love love all your windows and natural light, and that sectional looks amazingly comfortable.
Choosing the "wrong" paint color for the interior of the house is a lot like getting a "bad" haircut. You can always choose a different color of paint, and hair grows out (allowing for another chance at a different hair cut). I think it looks lovely either way, but you have to go with the colors that make you feel at home! :)
I had to use a ladder to paint the outside window frames that had 6 inch square mullions. I am terrified of heights and quickly learned to use both hands to paint so i cut the number of times i had to go up and down that ladder. Best advice for cutting in is buy the best paint brush ( a super good angle brush works) and take good care of it. It's like fabric scissors, you touch my scissors you are dead, the same goes for my special cutting in brush.
I’ve found that when I want to pick a wall color, I have to have a big swatch! So I get big poster cardboards and paint those and hang them, so I can really get a good look over a few days! This has helped me a lot! 🤗💓
That is exactly what I do!! In fact I have a beautiful very light blue called Glass Rooftop on my bedroom wall and I love it a bit more each day, but the swatch before it I loved. Jessica's Harbour is a pale mauve shade. It is lovely but not for my bedroom.
I'm with you, Sherwin Williams is the best paint. I painted the interior & exterior (with my grown children's help) with sw & it was expensive, but at 10 years, it still looks great. Thanks for the tip about 18" rollers. I'm like your dad, I love watching construction (demolition & rebuilding). Enjoy the fruits of your labor, looking great Becky.
I really like the new color you chose. I always use satin paint because it's easy to clean and doesn't show imperfections as much. I need to finish painting my son's room. I love the way you and Josh work together and how much you appreciate each other.
Your trim is so gorgeous!! Just beautiful!! I think you are either team beige/taupe or team grey. I loved your color and the contrast with the white was so crisp and beautiful. I do think your fireplace looks prettier with the new color. You two are a great team.
12:34 💯 As soon as you said you didnt like it, I was like change it if you can! Mental health is priority and our homes are an extension of ourselves. That's why if your house is messy, your external life might be chaotic but if your house is clean your external life might be feeling peaceful and stable. I'm happy you were able to change the color. God bless you and your family always.
You know about freezing brushes and roller? No need to wash up, wrap brushes/rollers in plastic, freeze next paint session let defrost 5 mins , have done this for yers works great
We don't even do the freezer bit, we just double plastic bag and next day ready to go but this sounds great for longer gaps(weekend to weekend) I wrap the tray in plastic too and just throw it away and keep the tray, but one time I forgot and the paint just peeled of in one piece when dry, I got lucky.
You and Josh are truly awesome. I just love how y'all don't miss a beat! Your enthusiasm and energy is heart warming 💓 💖 💛 love the warm color can't wait to see the finished rooms 😍😍
Painting is also a great way to keep baby A's growth on canvass .. In his nursery / bedroom , each year shine the light like youre using now , it will catch his shadow ,take a pencil to draw the outline of his shadow , paint it in , you can overlap this method each year , the look outcome will be kids standing behind each other in a roll ,but will all be baby A ... Use different colors for each year ,not giving up the first paintings of him
I love the new color you chose! It goes so nice with the trim and really brightens the room. With those lovely windows letting all the natural lighting in- looks absolutely beautiful!
We are currently converting a delivery van into a camper. And my husband is also a perfectionist, so everything is measured cut checked and checked again. Sooooooo slow. Driving me nuts.but after 20 years I still love him and his quirky ways. 🤪
We painted our living room, breakfast room, bedroom and office when we first moved in. I have a wall color that I developed that Home Depot made and it has been in my last 3 homes. However we had to have our dining room, hallway all re-textured. Now we have to finish painting those rooms plus ceilings and our guest bedrooms. We use Satin as Satin is so easy to clean up especially with Little Baby A growing up you will love the Satin. We just have to balance everything with the ice storm and all the tree limbs and branches to pick up outside. It is so good of you to share how you do everything with your home and kitchen. I look forward to You and your videos. May the Lord continue to Bless You and your family! Josh is as talented as You are what a match you two make. I so agree about the color on walls. It's so sweet to hear Baby A in your voice over. I Love your paint color this time too. Debi PS - Oh my that is a painful time use mistake but put it behind you this will too will pass and seeing you roll with it is what you normally do that is good less stress. I may try this color on our guest bedrooms. Thanks! Debi
You crack me up Becky. You guys had the rooms painted and now changing colors. Lol. Painting is so time consuming. Some say its relaxing and some say its a pain. Love 💗 to hear Mr sqeakers in the background of your voice overs. He sounds so cute. The house is looking so nice. You guys are so creative. Josh is and awesome carpenter. The trim is beautiful. Cant wait to see how the yard and garden comes along. Well, happy painting. 😅
Hey just a little safety tip always put the handle of the car seat down. The handle can snap inwards if there is sufficient force in a crash and the outcome is unspeakable. Also remember to never put coats and other super puffy layers on a baby then put them in the car seat, all the extra material compresses in a crash and the baby becomes a free flying object. NICU nurses where my son was, did a 30-minute car safety class before you were allowed to take your NICU baby from the NICU and they were pretty gruesome with the details.
Yes read the manual! Mine also says it can go any position. But super good point about puffy clothes and that goes for adults too! Highly recommend the instagram and UA-cam safe in the seat. Michelle is so informative and real!
This is a much better color. Such a subtle difference but, I agree about the other one had gold tones to it. I’m more of a “toasty” gray person too. In fact, I just came back from Sherwin Wiliams today with 6 gallons of paint. 😂. Buy one get one free. (with a barcode) so I bought all the paint I need for my living room, dining room, kitchen and hallway, as well as my master bedroom. The sale ends today 1/6- so I made the most of it. Now I just have to get painting.!
You've got to do you!!! It is after all YOUR forever home!!! Like you emphasized in the beginning you two wanted to get all those little things done....get the paint right before new furniture, such a smart choice. Absolutely love the house and view!!! Looking forward to seeing everything unfurl for your beautiful family!!!❤
Becky I do think you’re the best. You make me so much happier with my house, yard and myself. It’s hard for us older ladies to stay motivated. So thank goodness for you. I like the color better too. HI JOSH GOOD TO SEE YOU.
Oh yes, your new paint is so much nicer! Happy you found a paint you love, it's so difficult! I'm planning on painting this summer and it's giving me anxiety
My first course of action would have been changing all of the light bulbs to less of a warm color and tried living with that for a while before repainting. I made that mistake in my bed room, we painted the entire room a ever so slightly warm white color. I cried several times thinking I had made a mistake. It looked like butter on the walls but was beautiful instore and swatched by the window! We replaced the light fixture and it happened to come with day light toned bulbs instead of the warmer version that I had always brought at the store. It made such a significant difference that we ended up painting the entire interior that color!
As someone who just painted our entire build, (ceiling included) by myself, I have to offer this imput. Try to have the next bucket of paint mixed on the same machine at the store, calibration can be off between machines. Also, pour part of the next bucket of paint into the bucket you already have before it runs out and blend it together. I got close to 30 gallons over multiple trips and had to entirely repaint rooms because it just wasn't right. You could see where I cut in the paint vs the wall. All the paint read the same name (Shoji White) and formula but it was far less straight forward then I could've imagined. God Bless Josh for his openness to change it, so glad it'll be something you truly love. ❤
19 years ago, I picked Pearl Harbor for my new house. It’s orange and I couldn’t stand it. After a few months, it grew on my. But I understand you having to redo the walls. I think your house will look more homey with decorations on the wall and maybe a couple plants
Becky I have a husband just like Josh...and yes when we were first married it drove me nuts...he would say a project would take 30 min and I would laugh..cause I knew it would take hours. But after 7 years of marriage I do appreciate his attention to detail and love him for it!! The Living room is beautiful!❤️
Painted out dining room what I had hoped was a soft sage green. After a couple days I cried because it looked like a hospital green. My husbands response was, “ it’s just paint” and thankfully 20 years ago, paint really was cheap. So I took the craft paint I loved the color or and painted an3 by 5 index card and took it in to have it matched and loved the result!
You're so inspirational. I'm retired and no longer have your energy levels but find that even 10-minute pockets of doing chores, achieves end goals. Feeling guilty about the paint is normal but thankfully, it sounds as if you've let it go. Your lovely husband is correct. It's just paint! Thank you for providing such positivity in our world.
That's a beautiful color, Becky and Josh!! I love it! Paint is so hard!! I can't tell you how many times I SWORE I LOVED a paint color then got it on the walls and hated it. Lol And you're right it's only paint. When you work at home especially like you do and you are looking at your walls all day every day you have to love the color! I think it's absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!
Sure enjoy your video's so much. Love that your fixing your home up and bringing us along the way. Thanks for sharing baby Acre's precious voice, too cute. You guys rock! Blessings!
Becky I totally understand how you feel. I have done the same thing. I have on my walls a color that I want to change to something brighter. I think we feel guilty cause paint costs money and all the work that goes into doing it. That being said I think choosing a paint color for walls in your house is a really difficult decision for me for that reason.
Thank you for sharing. I've been in my home for 23 years and have not painted it. I couldn't decide on a color. So I just left it. But now that I've paid it off and I'm an empty nester I want to update it. Thank for the paint colors. I'm going to get some samples and see if I like them.
Hmmm, went from one mid-gray to another mid-gray. Probably should have added lighting, curtains or binds, art and some accessories before repainting as those will also have an effect on the perception of wall color. Hope you still like it when the room is decorated.
Honestly, I feel that choosing a paint color for a whole house is difficult. You did a great job on it but living with it you discovered it wasn’t really what you wanted. That’s okay! We have all had regrets over choices we’ve made so now you are on your way to a better result. I love the new color you are using by the way! Yay!
You & Josh are an awesome team. Josh is so talented. He did a fantastic job on the trim. You are doing a great job with the cutting in on the painting. I notice your preference with color is in the grey pallet. Those colors make you feel comfortable. That makes perfect sense to me that the new paint color is in your pallet preference.
Just a helpful hint, I use the short handle ergonomic paint brush. It doesn’t over task your hands. And it’s really good to use for cutting in, ceiling especially.
Love your new color. I have never been a fan of any color of beige. I think it looks so much lighter and brighter now. You and Josh do such a good job! Love watching you both.
One of my favorite purchases I made while painting our nursery was the less than $6 I spent on an edger. All I had to do was lightly press it into paint then slide it all the way over to the trim & slide down. The edge was just enough that you could leave a pennies width of space between the wall & trim color or if you pressed down firmly it brought the paint so close to the trim that you couldn't even see a line yet it never once got paint on the trim. It saved me so much time.
The color of your walls has a huge effect on your emotions, so you are right to change it. It's not a waste of money because you save so much money in other areas, so this experience was worth it. Cheers to the new look!
@@sweetpea6843 I think that’s part of my problem. One color I chose looks different in different rooms, depending on windows and light!
This! Is an awesome idea! Why didn't I think of this YEARS ago!
Lucidity is a gorgeous colour! It’s a tinted white, which amI was completely against, but it can look a vibrant light green, blue or grey depending on how the light hits it.
@@Mindyobiz-fy7ef What paint company? It sounds beautiful.
I wish I had her level of energy, she is amazing
My God, Becky I don't know HOW YOU DO IT! You go girl. Lol
It’s not healthy when you can’t take a break to be a new parent because your worried about the income.
Nobody could give up the income
You never hear her talk about playing with the baby....
@@cynthiafisher9907 Yes, because the youtube videos are edited to show a wonderful marriage.
@amykat5 what is an offset drywall knife? I’m intrigued by this. I detest taping.
@@danapanapooper1441 It is a long, flat blade with a handle. Think putty knife on steroids lol. I’ve seen them in 12” and 10” lengths.
@@amykat5 thank you so much! I’m gonna remember that trick!
This is how I do it! So much faster!
55 years later all he's all
Also he's allowed to do paint wise is help prep surface and carry on the paint we decide on.
So true, I find myself not getting stuff done for fear of making a mistake…..grrrr, I drive myself crazy !
I remember she explained she cuts her own hair, but having her nails done makes her happy😊
I remember the hair part because I have a family member who does the same.
Kim from The Wads commented she uses a gel finish coat that doesn’t need to be dried with the black lights. She said her nails last nice longer.
I would love to find out more on both these fronts!
Yes Becky's nails are just So beautiful. What is the secret?
Watch Jess from Roots and Refuge for gardening. She has a book for beginners called The First Time Gardener. You will love her!
I really enjoy the variety on this channel. Cooking, gardening, painting, decorating, thrifting, grocery shopping, baby stuff etc etc.
It's the Idolatry demon. It's rampant. People are putting influencers on a pedestal like they do with celebrities. It's just idolatry.
I LOVE the new color! It looks fabulous. It's funny how a slight color change makes a huge difference. It has a calm refreshing feeling.
I prefer the way Becky does it; It saves so much time and you don't have to worry about slipping or bunching floor covers.
So true! Rolling can make spatters on an unprotected floor that can be felt if you rub you hand over the floor, but might not stand out to the naked eye. And no one is perfect, so a covered floor can prevent HOURS of clean up after an accidental spill!
@@sortathesame8701 Might be she is replacing the brand new floor too. Might not go with the wall color. 😕
@@texasjones9541 She did not replace the floor when she came to live here and has no plans to do that as far as I know from her videos.
They have smaller sample sized containers you can purchase to try out before actually "taking the plunge."
I never could paint at night.
It was awesome to watch you and your hubby paint together. Thank you so much for sharing! 💝🥰
That big living room was the feature I loved when you first showed the house. I can’t wait to see the transformation into a warm and cozy family room.
You’ll be so happy you did this.
ive done that before but i was able to return the paint and they would remix it or replace---- lowes
I do the same thing! It means I basically only have to clean brushes and rollers once when I'm done with the project. Works awesome.
Great tip!
never in my life saw a tv mounted that low and I'm a realtor I see lots of tv's lol
Great winter project with baby who is mostly sleeping, it has amazed me how much you can get done I n one or two hour chunks. Good for you.
Even old sheets covering your beautiful hardwood floors, work great! The 1st thing I do; cover all flooring.👍Pretty color!!
You can do it!
I'm really counting on your garden content this spring/summer. I can't wait! It's so exciting!
I painted my entire house last year and after painting it i didn't like the color. But after the money and time my husband and i spent painting we just decided to live with it for a few years before we paint it again.
That’s what I would have had to do too!
Curtains too, I think.
Choosing the "wrong" paint color for the interior of the house is a lot like getting a "bad" haircut. You can always choose a different color of paint, and hair grows out (allowing for another chance at a different hair cut). I think it looks lovely either way, but you have to go with the colors that make you feel at home! :)
Great call on changing the paint color. I can't believe how much brighter and calming the new color looks.
Such a loving tribute to your hubby. You two are a great team. Baby A makes the dream work of completing your home. Thank you for sharing.
You can move them to darker areas too, love it.🥰
That is exactly what I do!! In fact I have a beautiful very light blue called Glass Rooftop on my bedroom wall and I love it a bit more each day, but the swatch before it I loved. Jessica's Harbour is a pale mauve shade. It is lovely but not for my bedroom.
This allows you to move it around to different rooms as well as being able to check it under different lighting. Awesome idea.
@April Leigh what company makes Glass Rooftop?
I'm with you, Sherwin Williams is the best paint. I painted the interior & exterior (with my grown children's help) with sw & it was expensive, but at 10 years, it still looks great. Thanks for the tip about 18" rollers. I'm like your dad, I love watching construction (demolition & rebuilding). Enjoy the fruits of your labor, looking great Becky.
I'll be honest with you, those paint colors look the same to me. They look white not grey.
12:34 💯
As soon as you said you didnt like it, I was like change it if you can!
I put them in the fridge, not the freezer. I learned that decades ago from Martha Stewart.
Depends on the car seat! The manual states where it can go- mine can be up!
Some carseats are built to be handle up. As long as she's following the safety manual it should be fine!
Yes read the manual! Mine also says it can go any position. But super good point about puffy clothes and that goes for adults too! Highly recommend the instagram and UA-cam safe in the seat. Michelle is so informative and real!
Geez, When I was born there were no car seats or safety belts. No bike helmets either. It's a wonder we survived.
@@commonsense2462 Yes, as a young child I was allowed to ride in the bed of a truck with my siblings.... And, my father was a Firefighter....
Orbit and Tibro playing together made me smile! They are so cute.
Yay! House Project! Love watching the rooms come together. Blessings!
Lighting does make a huge impact on how the paint looks.
The other one has a very brown undertone.
Yay!
use cardboard under your little paint can too
Now finally put some stuff on the walls to reduce the echo! Also rugs help. Glad your happy w the new color.
Rugs should be nonslip, for sure. A wrong foot twist on a moveable rug and someone could fall hard.
You should always mix paint up by stiring very well before you use is because it does separate in the bucket.
You and Josh are a precious couple!!! So happy you found each other and were blessed with baby! Love the new paint color, btw.
