@@robertmerrill8918 We have pacifism backed by ICBMs with nuclear warheads. If everybody had a Death Star, or better yet a few Xystons, the Galaxy may be a bit less willing to go to total war.
The original Latin of the expression "if you want peace, prepare for war" comes from the book "Epitoma Rei Militaris," by the Roman general Vegetius (whose full name was Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus). The Latin is, "Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum."
Ironically for a non-aggressive planet and security force, Naboo really shined in space combat and their starfighters. I would argue that the X-wing is the only fighter we see that really competes, and it still has a bigger silhouette than the N-1. Even with all its functionality, the N-1 was still the most gorgeous fighter in Star Wars.
I wouldn't go so far as to say the X-wing is the only that competes. With the N-1. The N-1 is without a doubt an amazing and extreme agile fighter (able to keep pace and actively combat vulture droids in the hands a half volunteer force) While some specific models had or the basic N-1 could be outfitted with a hyperdrive, the fuel the fighters could carry for a jump, make a combat sortie and jump back is about a system or two. It's not as short range of a fighter as the TIE, but most aren't outfitted with hyperdrives in the first place. If an escort is needed for senatorial or royal use, a 'royal barge' is used which allows the fighters to either make the first jump with the ship or just dock in the recharge/refuel sockets in the wings and be carried into hyperspace.
@@Meravokas The problem with the N1 is that it is so expensive, 200,000 credits, you can buy a X wing and tie fighter for slightly more than 1 N1, or 3 cloak shapes for less than it, new, a Y wing for much less, 10 Vultures, 2 yt 1300, 2 z95, 2 vwings, 4 v 19,
I would argue the B-Wing put all other starfighters ever to shame, it might as well have been the force in ship form. The B-Wing had more blaster power than an X-Wing, and combined with the ion canons was strong enough to destroy even Star Desroyers without the need for torpedoes. It was insanely fast, but more impressive all it's shield could be supplemented by all this... So even if a Tie could outmaneuver it the B-Wing could take it head on instead of chasing it... And it costs about the same as the N1. My favorite fighter by far. :)
What the Naboo should have done is formed a *combined military with the Gungans…* it would have been far more effective and they could have enlarged it and made it more professional _without the risk of making their former foes nervous._ It would in fact cement ties between both societies, making the risk of the military being turned on either one very difficult. As well such a force would be reasonably powerful, with complementary abilities. The Gungans shield technology was amazing, especially in ground combat - it just lacked in offensive capabilities relying as it did on mediaeval style launchers for their plasma balls. Equip a combined force with Gungans holding shields while Naboos fire away with blasters and both using projectile launchers for the plasma balls (imagine a repeating grenade launcher…) and that's a nasty ground force. And the plasma balls make great warheads for ground vehicles. As well, their space force can do the heavy bombing of enemy forces… because… The irony is the N1 was a superb Snubfighter for the pre Clone Wars era. It was *versatile* having Lasercannons, proton torpedo launchers (with unguided torpedoes, but that can be swapped out easily), shields, high speed (slightly faster than a Yarvin era X-Wing and with the same class 1 hyperdrive) and a astromech. It was almost a proto X-Wing in capabilities in an time where most snubfighters were sublight only and shields and launchers were options. [It would have made a excellent Jedi craft for missions, being able to support itself without external units]. And with its hyperdrive it could carry the fight to the enemy (even having off world bases for suprise counterattacks - but see below 🌊). If they had gone for economy of scale and mass produced it, as well as having them placed in fortified bunkers, Naboo would have been a tough nut to crack. They could have hangers underwater near Gungan facilities… suddenly squadrons just fly out of the ocean and catch off guard any attacker. And they did export the N1 to some customers (but only as a Boutique craft)… a bit of aggressive marketing to buyers in the Outer Rim and then they can start pumping out large inventory for themselves. Naboo could have taken a leaf out of the Scandinavian military school and had hidden bases all over, compulsory service for a while, and a core of professional solders. They do have a slightly Scandinavian feel to their society, they could have incorporated such a military attitude without changing their culture to much.
Agreed. With the N-1, I’d even go as far as to say it was, while old, still an above average (if not markedly superior) starfighter in the Civil War era. It was faster and more maneuverable than an X-Wing, so in the hands of a skilled pilot could easily outmaneuver and outfight a standard TIE fighter. Their speed and maneuverability would’ve been more or less on par with a TIE Interceptor - and perhaps the TIE Avenger - only truly outclassed by the TIE Defender and TIE Advanced x1. Their biggest downfall was their lack of numbers, there were too few to take on the amount of fighters that a true Imperial assault would bring and their pilots weren’t skilled enough to use the individual advantages their fighters had to their best potential. Legends sources has them being only slightly slower than an A-Wing, and slightly less maneuverable. Had Naboo not been so heavily occupied, the N-1 could’ve provided the Rebellion with an excellent multi-purpose interceptor that was easier to fly than an A-Wing.

Why is it that most blasters have scopes on them, even the DC 15 blaster rifle but NO ONE ever uses them. Hell, even the First Order never used their scopes and THEY were smart enough to put a rear gunner in some of their TIEs
Never seen a dc15 with an optic outside of bf2, but I'm pretty sure the sights are smart linked to the HUD of helmet of the trooper using it, akin to the way the HUD works in halo.
From what I understand, the scope stills resides in the railguns for the eventuality of one don't having a helmet. Complete helmets in Star Wars, such as the Clone or Stormtroopers, have digital visors inside their helmets connected to their weapons. Like when you fight in Battlefront II (old), your HUD displays a reticle when aiming in third person, trying to represent the visor inside of the helmet, and when aiming in first person, instead of just showing the railgun or body of the weapon with the sight, you are placed into a digital-blue visor reticle.

Unless you consider the Battle for Naboo game as well as Star Wars Starfighter, it's true they couldn't beat the Trade Federation alone but they did mount a determined resistance when they had the resources.
Thanks for reminding me about how Naboo narrowly avoided capture due to a kid unintentionally destroying the control ship like a sitcom pratfall sequence.
The N-1 is up there as my favorite starfighter of its era, along with the ARC-170. As for the Imperial occupation, let's be honest, even if Naboo aggressively militarized in the 13 odd years between the Battle of Naboo and rise of the Empire, can you really expect them to mount an effective defiance against the Empire (whose leader was once their senator)?
I'll take one and say the Phantom menace is a really good movie. It was just some terrible execution that hurt it. Hiring another actor to play young Ani who was much older (around Padma's age) and changing Jar Jar's character to be more of a warrior rather than a clumsy comedic relief would have made all the difference in the movie and turn it from a 4-5 out of 10 to an 8 out of 10.
As individuals the soldiers seem to have fought well and they had great Star fighters, but they had poor leadership and there was not close to enough of them.

The Naboo remind me of some countries in Europe that went pacifist and completly neglected the military because they though war is a thing of the past and now they have to rebuild.
I don’t know, i also thought groups like the queens guard on mandalore were also kind if garbage. It seemed like most of the time, they were getting taken out, though in their case it probably makes more sense since they had to deal with people like death watch.
It actually was my favorite star wars film until rogue one came out. Cant forget how excited i was that i got to experience a trilogy for the first time. I envied those who got to experience the original star wars in theaters the first time.
Hahah hes looking into the camera like "fck these pathetic naboo security force losers"... probably just seconds before they all see darth maul and turn into deserters and run for their lives
I think you made a really good point about questioning why the Naboo did not upgrade their military post trade federation occupation but I think the reason why the Naboo did not maintain a strong army was its significance compared to the rest of the Galaxy. Naboo had a much smaller population compared to other planets in the galaxy and was not a political or economic stronghold like some planets in the core or colonies region. There were no main hyperspace lanes and trade routes that passed the Naboo for them to protect unlike Corellia that maintained their own army to protect the large hyperspace and trade routes they controlled . The Naboo was not interested in expansion or increasing their influence over the Galaxy and was content with their place in the Galaxy hence there were no reasons for them to increase their military power. Naboo can be compared to some of the countries we see in our World today. Their military and economic situation reminds me of some of the Baltic states in Europe that are experiencing economic growth but have relatively low populations and do not have the military resources to defend themselves from larger threats and heavily rely on their NATO allies for military support. This is what the Naboo did, they were prosperous and relied to much on their membership in a collective power to protect them. Also even with their discovery of Plasma they never expected the Trade Federation to invade since they thought they were under the protection of Republic law. The Trade Federation was actually considering to blockade another planet but with the influence of Sidious Naboo was chosen instead.
I would have really liked if in canon or legends, the Naboo were pacifists because the Gungans were neutral, as in building their culture into Switzerland, ie make them so difficult to defeat, that no one would try.
So your saying, while their non gun low military stance made things pretty, it allowed corruption and large armies to just walk in and do what they want.
Basically, the Royal Naboo Security Forces had potential if they would’ve been competently-trained professional soldiers instead of part-timers and volunteers
Because in 90% of cases. It is. The royal Fighter Corp being the main except to this. Aside from still being mostly volunteer. Even then what was basically a squadron were taken out more by the heavy amount of point defense guns rather than the vulture droids themselves.
How could you forget Rhys Dallows, who chased a mercenary leader into the port hangar of the control ship, shot him down, and disabled the Lucrehulk's interior shields, allowing kid Anakin to destroy its power core?
To be honest, the only shock is that something like what happened with the Trade Federation (or the other stuff that later happened) didn't occur way, WAY sooner. It's a miracle Naboo was left alone so bloody long.
@@JediMasterZim I'm assuming they made nice with their neighbors and since they didn't start any conflicts and had an emphasis on diplomacy, they were able to dodge out of a lot of conflicts with treaties and trade agreements. They also brought in the Jedi as least once to mediate disputes, too.
When you said part time soldiers I thought “oh god their the national guard, the Jedi fought alongside the national guard and some weird fish men to liberate a planet from a robot army and a weird space devil man.”
Now do Wookies, one of the most formidable species as individuals, but *hopeless as a society.* Extremely long lived so they can become very skilled, damn strong, smart, able to survive comfortably in environments that would make a human miserable. They even had claws they refused to use… And a special caste that could sense new Hyperspace routes. The Wookies could have easily settled hidden planets, and even moved up the ladder in interstellar companies just by seniority. Wookies could have dominated freight, with hidden paths and being built in forklifts. Yet they lived next to several slave trading species that targeted them (because they were so useful) and yet didn't fortify. To give you an idea of how formidable Wookies could be, imagine if they were the template for the Clone army - with a different smaller species for Snubfighter pilots of course… [Could Ewoks be good pilots if raised in a technological society? If not there are other candidates]. *A Wookie Clone trooper…* . Now that is scary.
Well, the Naboo guards are more of a volunteer police force them a military but, to be honest, even though if they are ideologically neutral against a military, they should have at least created a Self Defence Force during the Clone Wars as something like the Japanese Self Defence Force. I mean just like the neutral countries during ww2, unless if you back up your neutrality with the threat of a military force and a promise of a very long a painful military campaign for the attackers, other countries will just steamroll you without a care.
6:30-6:37 This is a qoute and is directly from the movie release visual encyclopedia of star wars episode 1 the phantom menace, its an image caption of a speeder a different one than this.
The Naboo needed their own version of the classic Rendili dread naught crewed by a joint Naboo Gungan crew. I’m picturing chrome, smooth angles, and environmentally friendly design that can land and take off from the water.
I mean to be fair their called naboo "guards" not naboo soldiers, they're more like our police, I bet their trained in de escalation and keeping the peace more then all out warfare.
I like Naboos Royal Guard on the grounds of aesthetics But I REALLY hate that we don't see them in action in either the movies or shows. I get why as you explained I may just want to see the capital Theeds as a battle ground but it always bugs how easily they just seem to give up or defeated.
Well they aren't really that militarized. Don't know why. (They have 4.5 billion beings on world according to Wookiepedia.) The amount of troops they have is absolutely pathetic.
"If you want peace, be ready for war." You dont have be able to beat your opposition however. You have to make yourself not worth it to attack. Be that cause youre more powerfull,or the cost would be to high compaired to what the attacker would gain. Example: Switzerland during ww2.
I mean l to be fair planets being pacifist wouldn't be a problem if the Republic didn't basically say planets had to look after themselves until the Clone Wars... but of course that would require a military and a will to actually punish planets that do invade others.
I never thought that they were supposed ro be anything other than a police and anti piracy force. Its like saying that the police is useless because they couldn't stave off an invasion by themselves. And during the clone wars they let the grand army of the republic do its job. If they didn't have the clones its fair to say they would have beefed up. Also remember that in the original battlefront 2 they said they were making their force stronger and stronger.

As individuals the soldiers seem to have fought well and they had great Star fighters, but they had poor leadership and there was not close to enough of them.
They were nabooan
Just like you
Nabooish
Lol I think The Naboo plural is still the Naboo
Still better than the last Jedi idiots!
They can't even do space combat!
@@nicktechnubyte1184 yeah you got a point

Congratulations humanity, if a galactic republic like that is ever possible earth would have the strongest planet defence force in the galaxy
Earth flexing on the galactic republic with 20 million active personnel along with a large number of reserves
@@MrCoolguy425 Yes,2000000 active troops, over 5000000 reserves, over 200 millions conscriptable population,+25000 aircrafts(not including the ones from the storage),+50000 tanks,+100000 amor fighting vehicles, uncountable amount of artillery, unknown numbers of anti satellite missiles and+20000 nukes.More than enough to invade several mid rim planets at once.
Geetslys: so todays sponsor is Raid Shadow legends
Me: don't do it Anakin!
Gee, Naboo is useless? That is obvious. Look at their yellow colored fleet and Gunguns. They're basically a joke.
Eh their star fighters were pretty decent, comparatively though. Sure they were yellow, but they were well equipped. Blaster cannons, proton torpedoes, shields, and hyperdrive.
This is guy is masquerading as just another Star Wars UA-camr but underneath he's really quite the savage: 2:29
Also getting sponsored by Raid and liking all the comments making fun of them under the video lmao
Edit: "the best ships the Naboo ever wielded were made by the fried Calamari (7:14)"
The Naboo remind me of some countries in Europe that went pacifist and completly neglected the military because they though war is a thing of the past and now they have to rebuild.
This aged like milk
I don’t know, i also thought groups like the queens guard on mandalore were also kind if garbage. It seemed like most of the time, they were getting taken out, though in their case it probably makes more sense since they had to deal with people like death watch.
It actually was my favorite star wars film until rogue one came out. Cant forget how excited i was that i got to experience a trilogy for the first time. I envied those who got to experience the original star wars in theaters the first time.
Raid Shadow Legends is kinda stupid.
🤷♂️
I agree it is it’s overhyped anyway
Hey man he's gotta pay the bills. I don't care what ads play, as long as I get to watch a quality video.
@@geetslys It has nothing to do with you. You are great! It has all to do with dumb ol' Raid Shadow Legends. :3
The veterans of the battle of Naboo see this and get outraged...
4:22 LOOK AT OBI WANS FACE i cant breath. the longer i look the funnier it gets.
Hahah hes looking into the camera like "fck these pathetic naboo security force losers"... probably just seconds before they all see darth maul and turn into deserters and run for their lives
I really like how they were a small force who managed to storm the palace and capture Viceroy.
You should do more military analysis on Star wars factions
TL;DR
"You may have a Brain, but I have a gun!"
New drinking game. Take a shot every time he says "32bby blockade and occupation"
Their brave and unrelenting actions in Ep. I: Battle for Naboo, Starfighter, Galactic Battlegrounds, and even The Clone Wars 2008 would beg to differ
FINALLY pictures from stare wars galactic battlegrounds I've been waiting to see that for years! 6:45
So your saying, while their non gun low military stance made things pretty, it allowed corruption and large armies to just walk in and do what they want.
Basically, the Royal Naboo Security Forces had potential if they would’ve been competently-trained professional soldiers instead of part-timers and volunteers
This hasn't aged well!!!! Naboo guard for the winnnnnnnn
The Naboo Guard looks a lot more like a police force than a Military
Because in 90% of cases. It is. The royal Fighter Corp being the main except to this. Aside from still being mostly volunteer. Even then what was basically a squadron were taken out more by the heavy amount of point defense guns rather than the vulture droids themselves.
Naboo: hey we've got a security force with the best blasters and training.
Amidala and the jedi: nah we'll go with frog people
The Naboo, culture of pacifism... curses the galaxy with the existence of Palpatine
You know someone lost their spine when they advertise raid
How could you forget Rhys Dallows, who chased a mercenary leader into the port hangar of the control ship, shot him down, and disabled the Lucrehulk's interior shields, allowing kid Anakin to destroy its power core?
1:05 Dude that artwork’s actually from Total War: Warhammer.
> tired of cartoonish-looking games?
> I propose you yet another cartoonish-looking game
Well, Naboo was a peaceful world, so what do you expect?
To be honest, the only shock is that something like what happened with the Trade Federation (or the other stuff that later happened) didn't occur way, WAY sooner. It's a miracle Naboo was left alone so bloody long.
@@JediMasterZim I'm assuming they made nice with their neighbors and since they didn't start any conflicts and had an emphasis on diplomacy, they were able to dodge out of a lot of conflicts with treaties and trade agreements. They also brought in the Jedi as least once to mediate disputes, too.
I mean other peaceful groups in history kicked ass so…..
Only *kinda* useless?
More like 100%

God, until I actually noticed the aliens, I almost thought the very first image was a James Gurney painting and got confused for a moment.
When you said part time soldiers I thought “oh god their the national guard, the Jedi fought alongside the national guard and some weird fish men to liberate a planet from a robot army and a weird space devil man.”
I haven’t watched this channel in a while but why does it sound like this dude’s voice has dropped by about 1000000000x levels
Puberty? Or Clone Wars switching actors after the film
Clones age rapidly, we can’t help it
Now do Wookies, one of the most formidable species as individuals, but *hopeless as a society.*
Extremely long lived so they can become very skilled, damn strong, smart, able to survive comfortably in environments that would make a human miserable.
They even had claws they refused to use…
And a special caste that could sense new Hyperspace routes.
To give you an idea of how formidable Wookies could be, imagine if they were the template for the Clone army - with a different smaller species for Snubfighter pilots of course…
[Could Ewoks be good pilots if raised in a technological society? If not there are other candidates].
*A Wookie Clone trooper…* .
Now that is scary.
*angry Wookiee noises
Well, the Naboo guards are more of a volunteer police force them a military but, to be honest, even though if they are ideologically neutral against a military, they should have at least created a Self Defence Force during the Clone Wars as something like the Japanese Self Defence Force. I mean just like the neutral countries during ww2, unless if you back up your neutrality with the threat of a military force and a promise of a very long a painful military campaign for the attackers, other countries will just steamroll you without a care.
The irony that the Sith GOAT is from such a combat-adverse planet
Pls do a video on “if Rex got through to Jesse” it would be awesome!
rip lego naboo guards
rip moustache trooper
rip lego bespin guard
You have to literally save these guys in the complete saga
Aye, take a drink everytime he says "32 BBY blockade and invasion"
Geetsly: do you think JarJar should have been blasted to shreds?
Literally what everyone wants: haha, JarJar go brrrr
Regardless of their usefulness, you got to admit the S5 was a cool looking blaster!
6:30-6:37 This is a qoute and is directly from the movie release visual encyclopedia of star wars episode 1 the phantom menace, its an image caption of a speeder a different one than this.
Naboo was a planet filled with mostly none violent people.
Threw down with the Coruscant guard tho
Geetsly's: Raid shadow legends is realistic
Raid Shadow legends: as bad as Yoda's puppet model in Return of the Jedi
I like Naboos Royal Guard on the grounds of aesthetics
But I REALLY hate that we don't see them in action in either the movies or shows. I get why as you explained
I may just want to see the capital Theeds as a battle ground but it always bugs how easily they just seem to give up or defeated.
Well they aren't really that militarized. Don't know why. (They have 4.5 billion beings on world according to Wookiepedia.) The amount of troops they have is absolutely pathetic.
In battlefront 2 the new one theed is a warzone
You forgot to mention it was only a small detachment of the 501st that snuck in there and wrecked their shit.
Most of it all was terrible, but you have to admit, those N-1 star-fighters looked DAMN fine
Yea one of my favorite ships in star wars
What about Rhys Dallows and Gavyn Sykes RSF resistance groups?
I hear ya. But most people probably haven't played Battle for Naboo and Star Wars Starfighter.
To be fair, they were pretty much a police force, or like the Coast Guard at best...
Look, it all went according to Darth Jar Jar's plan. It lead to him giving his Lord an Army to kill the Jedi with.
Better a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war.
They were royal Naboo security much like the English Royal Guard not a military just a security force
"If you want peace, be ready for war."
You dont have be able to beat your opposition however. You have to make yourself not worth it to attack. Be that cause youre more powerfull,or the cost would be to high compaired to what the attacker would gain. Example: Switzerland during ww2.
Constantly making the videos answering the same things I too wonder, no need to even ask 😁
Who needs naboo guards to fight the droids when you have gungan army
I mean l to be fair planets being pacifist wouldn't be a problem if the Republic didn't basically say planets had to look after themselves until the Clone Wars... but of course that would require a military and a will to actually punish planets that do invade others.
Well said.
"If you're tired of cartoonish looking games"
*proceeds to show probably one of the most cartoonish looking games*
I never thought that they were supposed ro be anything other than a police and anti piracy force. Its like saying that the police is useless because they couldn't stave off an invasion by themselves. And during the clone wars they let the grand army of the republic do its job. If they didn't have the clones its fair to say they would have beefed up. Also remember that in the original battlefront 2 they said they were making their force stronger and stronger.
