Today, we’re going to discuss the difference between grass-fed burgers and conventional burgers. Are grass-fed burgers worth the extra cost?
On the package of grass-fed burger patties it will often say:
    • Natural
    • Handcrafted
    • Fresh
    • Free-range
    • 100% pure beef
But, all of the above actually means nothing legally.
The best burgers to have, if you can find them, are not just grass-fed beef but 100% grass-finished and organic.
If you buy grass-fed beef burgers, and it doesn’t say grass-finished, chances are it was finished with grains. Finished means fattened. If it doesn’t say organic, then it’s GMO.
    Burgers have:
    • 0 carbs
    • 14% protein
    • 30% fat
    • 49% water
    GMO - Genetically modified organism
GMO is a genetic modification of something. We’re talking about grains, primarily corn and soy.
GMO grains expose the cows to glyphosate. If it’s organic grains, the cows are not exposed to glyphosate.
Glyphosate is an herbicide, and it’s linked to Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
    • Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is one of the most common cancers in the United States
    • Farms use about 1 pound of glyphosate per acre of cropland
    • Every year over 80,000 metric tons of glyphosate are put into the environment in the United States alone

And vitamin K2. Populations i western countries are deficient. Healthy bones are important for many systems in the body.
Bacillus subtilis var. natto can be used in cows food. Makes them grow faster without antibiotics.( Maybe Mr Berg missed that.)
Bacillus subtilis var. natto also strengthens the immune system for the cows. Farmers would be happy to know. But probably not Big Pharma selling poisons for cows.

I feel the same way about eating becoming so complicated, but realized many (older) people like myself are doing the dietary modification as a result of decades and decades of low quality or bad choices in food which has caused disease within. 20 or 40 years ago so much of the research Dr B draws from had not been done or simply made available pre internet. Yes more complicated but were fortunate we have an internet and the research to hear about options we can take to stave off disease.

From what I've found through my own research, almost all livestock in the US are fed grains at some point, pastured or not. Some get organic, some don't.
And how do you know, just because it says grass-fed, grass-finished, how much time these animals actually spent on pasture? One afternoon, one day, several weeks or not at all? Grass, meaning hey, can be fed to them in the stalls they inhabit.
The only way to know about your meat is to know your Farmer. Or hunt for your meat yourself!

One think some people need to realize is that it isn't just question of am i willing to pay just a ''little bit more'' or not. First it's not just a bit more expensive. It's actually like 2 but more like 3 times more then a regular grocery store meat. Depending on what kind of bubble you are living in this may or may not be too much for you. But for most people especially but not only in the middle to low income countries spending 3 times more on their meat is simply out of question. They would literally go bancrupt before they next paycheck arives...
The other thing is availability. I personally live pretty close to London. Which is a kind of big city and you should expect to get basically anything around it's area. Well everything except a propper selection of organic grassfed meat apperantly. Because even if i looked pretty hard i wasn't able to find any reliable source of this kind of meat. The only thing i could regularly get are organic and only organic not pasture raised chicken breasts....and i hate chicken breast.....
The way i personally do it is that i don't really eat meat too much. Most of my protein sources are organic eggs, again just organic not pasture raised...simply because thats the best what i can get and canned wild caught fish.
I wanted to say this because sadly it isn't just a question of will all the time. It's sad and it shouldn't be like this...but it is...

    • @ilovenoodles7483
      @ilovenoodles7483 4 роки тому +3

      True.
Also people say, "well then you could order your meat/food and have it delivered to you;" well again, that's IF it is available in your area. But to me, the thought of ordering meat and having it delivered is just weird anyway.
And canned meat isn't healthy anyways because it's not fresh and plus the stuff the can is made out of seeping into your food.
Or having to spend more money on cans of food that the can is made from safer material or eating food from glass jars. But cost is still a factor.

I have this beef with the health food industry 😔 Raw milk is extortionate in places, and there is grass fed organic farm near me but prices are twice the price of supermarket produce. I am on benefits as I am recovering from spinal surgery. People are getting ripped off but told its because the process is different. Yah right...to the the tune of double. I've seen supermarket dairy cows eating grass, being fed silage in winter. And then organic farms using some blatantly non organic methods defeating the object.
When these scammers are asked at the pearly gates "When I gave you a farm to help peoples health, how did you help peoples health by over charging them?"
I say this as someone who tried to set up own cruelty free cosmetics. I saw for myself the price hikes in the field, and also from wholesalers on very basic base products. They are worse than the capitalists imho because theyre projecting 'a better natural world' whilst practicing "the secret" for their own monetary success at the expense of their customers abundance of course 🙄Hypocrites.

@@ilovenoodles7483 Well see if you can do a lil digging on the organic practices of the store before completely ruling it out. Garland Farms did a really good vid where Freelee was bitching about killing animals and to eat organic veg, but in background you saw terriers killing the rodents on an organic farm...that was thenon toxic pesticides
Another way I got round it was buying fruit and veg wash, which you squirt on fruit and veg to remove residues during transportation and removes pesticides then rinse under water.

Hi Dr. Berg, thanks to your informational videos. I've lost 15lbs last month starting with intermittent fasting and doing a low insulin diet that is primarily keto and getting enough vital nutrients such as salt and potassium through adding salt to my salads and drinking wheat grass juice. Intermittent fasting was the game changer for me to fixing my cravings and allowing me to enjoy my one and only meal of the day.

Interestingly enough, my boss buys "grass fed" beef and the beef is really tender and tasteless. I live in an area where the cows are actually grass fed. The meat is rather tough but very flavorful.
I find it hard to believe that soft and tasteless meat is from grass fed cows.

    • @cloudstrife8596
      @cloudstrife8596 Рік тому +3

Supposedly it's suppose to be grassfed and "finished " because if it says it's only grassfed it's not 100 percent grass but Im not sure

I think Dr Berg explained it well when he said that cows do not fatten quickly on grass but rather grains(GMO corn). So yes grass fed meat will have less fat and be a little tougher. I just started using grass fed ground beef and love it because being ground it is not "tougher".

Hello dr Berg, could you discuss about gastroparesis (slow stomach emptying) ? What causes it and how to fix it? I eat 3-4 hours before bed, wake up still with the food in my stomach, can feel it the taste of it, when I burp specially and etc. I use apple cider vinegar for increased digestion, ginger for stomach motility, other spices to just generally enhance digestion - still stuff like this is happening. So.. Gastroparesis - What causes it and how to fix it?

My brothers and I go in on a grass fed cow from the ranch a few miles away from my house. We usually end up paying just over $1.50/lb. (Around 600 lbs.) Thats for: fillet mignon, porterhouse, prime rib roasts (usually close to $100 at the store), NY strips, delmonicos, etc. and the best ground beef you've ever tasted!!! If you have a place near you, I *highly* recommend you find others that will go in on at least a side of beef with you! It's usually about $300 to $400 for a side, without much of a big price break for the whole cow, but either choice is a wise one! A 300 pound side will yield roughly 550-600 servings of beef at a cost of about .50-.60 cents per serving!
