I was vegan/vegetarian for 12 years - from age 24 to age 36. I had plenty of issues over the years - occasionally mentally foggy, attention issues, feeling tired often, weakness, digestive issues. I started eating grass fed beef and chicken regularly by the time I was 38, along with 15-20 eggs (we have our own chickens!) each week. I have never felt better in my life! Blood panels and cholesterol is all PERFECT. My vegetarian father and sisters all have cholesterol and other issues. The answer is so crystal clear to me.

lol your vegetarian father and sisters are eating lots of dairy and egg since they are vegetarians. I don't have cholesterol issues at all and I am plant based so that makes no sense. Being vegan or vegetarian does not make you healthy because many of those vegans go and eat beyond beef and vegan cheese French fires cookies etc all vegan. That is not real food, talk to people that eat a whole food plant based diet that have cured so many countless diseases.

100%!! Two years ago, my hand and arm was mauled breaking up a dog fight between two large male dogs (please do not tell how stupid I was. I know. One of the dogs was my dearly loved boy, and I acted on instinct.) I probably should have had well over 50 stitches and possibly lost a thumb. I live deep in the jungle two hours away from medical care on a tiny trail in a cabin on a mountain with access only by boat. Medical care really wasn't an option. There's no way I could have gotten down the mountain without passing out as much as I was bleeding, much less find a boat captain to take me to the city and a hospital. I switched to eating nothing but beef and had a strong belief my body would know what to do. I lost an insane amount of blood. I was weak and the wounds were slow to heal, as is normal in the tropics. I kept all the open bits meticulously clean, tied my thumb up with gauze, and ate beef. Only beef. My hand and arm healed. I have some light scars, but full use of the hand, and I regained my strength after so much blood loss faster than anyone could believe. Beef is a wonder food. It saved me from almost inescapable infection and deformation.

After 2 1/2 years of clean keto and limited meat....although I did really well on keto, I finally tried carnivore for the first time several months ago and have to say that I feel I do even better on carnivore, I get at least 3 pasture raised eggs and bacon every morning, usually a steak or ground beef or venison patty for lunch and a steak for dinner...I'm 52 years old and I haven't had this much energy since my 20's. I do exercise twice per week but it wasn't until carnivore that I actually was able to add muscle upping my intake of animal protein & fat!!!

    Sharing Dr Berg notes:
Other types of protein, like eggs and salmon, are beneficial-but red meat is the best to support healing.
Of all the things needed for the repair or healing process, amino acids are among the most important.
Red meat is more bioavailable and is a more concentrated source of amino acids than other types of protein. It also contains more iron, magnesium, zinc, B vitamins, vitamin K, and omega-3 fatty acids than eggs.
This doesn’t include processed meat from factory farms. It’s crucial to get high-quality grass-fed, grass-finished red meat.
Red meat also contains four important additional nutrients for healing, repair, and recovery:
    1. Carnitine
    2. Creatine
    3. Carnosine
    4. Coenzyme Q10
People who have difficulty digesting red meat typically have low stomach acid. Even if you don’t like the taste of red meat, it may be because you have low stomach acid.
Betaine hydrochloride may be beneficial to help strengthen your stomach acid. You can try taking three to five betaine hydrochloride supplements before a meal for about one month.
However, if you tend to have excess iron, red meat may not be for you. Instead, you could try consuming more poultry or eggs.
    Thank you Dr Berg🐱👍🏿
