I am so glad we're at a point now where Windows laptops are back to parity with Mac mobile hardware in terms of perf/efficiency. This is good for everyone and pushes competition so neither platform gets complacent.
Except for the fact that Microsoft really messed up the ARM relaunch again as snapdragon laptops are being returned in hordes because of lack of compatibility with almost every software. Not saying it’ll be an issue 8 months from now… but Microsoft treated its customers as beta testers. I owned a MacBook Air M1 on launch day, and maybe it’s due to apple’s walled garden - but 95% of apps were compatible on day one… and Rosetta worked like wonders… the big compatibility issues in windows arm is evidence that one - Microsoft didn’t put in enough effort getting day one updates for third party apps by appeasing devs, and two: prism isn’t as good as Rosetta and that is fact! These are great laptops, handicapped by windows and a crap corporation like Microsoft
I guess it looks nice for a Windows laptop but sitting next to the MacBook it just looks cheap which is unfortunately still typical of most Windows laptops today.
Even with how nice and modern the M3 MacBook Air looks, I have to say that side by side with the XPS, it looks much worse aesthetically. The XPS is sleeker and much more modern, and the difference in bezel side is dramatic, even though the Air already had thin ones! My only complaints are the graphics performance of the X Elite, the lack of function keys, and the display of the base model. Since I prefer the freedom of Windows, I am very excited that they will now have performance comparable to Macs.
@ehtasam2080 I'm a windows user and still I think it's gpu is not even close to m2 air, we need to wait for 2nd gen XElite or Intel Lunar Lake, I have my hops up for Lunar Lake
Mate you should have done some real world tests like files export, rendering and stuff that you usually do in such comparison videos to give us a better idea of which laptop to buy.
I agree...how many times have we seen where the Mac gets beat in benchmarks and then comes out on top in real world performance? Benchmarks are just so ignorant people can brag about things they don't know what they're talking about. It's not always the full story.
I’ve seen a lot of videos where intel preforms a lot better than snapdragon running a lot of programs. Since snapdragon has to translate all the information.
The only thing that needs a comeback from Dell is the physical function keys. Not buying any Dell without that, no matter how good its other features are.
Sorry, the revamped xps without functional key row and multiple ports is a joke. There is no need for comparison. I can barely see the faint touch bar indications at their display store. The fhd looks bad, and by topping up for Oled screen display, you can actually upgrade your MacBook Air to M3 MacBook Pro already! (Which comes with more ports, even longer battery life, pro-motion display, and a fan as well)
I cannot see why I would swap my M2 MB Air for this XPS 13, let alone an M3. These are ultrabooks, so benchmarks are moot as most workloads will be casual computing with a mix of medium workloads. You should buy something other than an X-Elite for semi-pro, pro work or gaming. So, those CPU multicore scores are useless and principally there for Qualcomm's marketing. More critical for ultrabooks are an excellent display, quality keyboard and trackpad, reliability, battery life, noise, thermals and compatibility (for your specific workflow). Out of all the X-Elite devices, the XPS 13 would be down my list. Though none of them would be better than a Macbook.
@@fredrickbambino Yes, that is an obvious preference and may outweigh the Macs' advantages over these Snapdragons. But at the end of the day, MacOS and Apple Silicon are much better if you cover the spectrum rather than using a few choice example workflows.

Hm. Yea. If someone is in the market for a new typewriter this Snapdragon Notebooks are definitly on the Table. For literally everythin else there are better solutions out there. If they realy want to compete they need more Grafik-Power. Way more Grafik-Power. Like 2 to 5 times. And more RAM. Way more RAM. The Macbooks go up to 128GB. And the fact that they went there from 96 means there is a market. Apple does nothing without a market. And for more Grafik-Power there would be definitly a market. Games. Oh. And can it run Linux? MacBooks can. To me it seems Microsoft itself do not belife in this product because it feels half finished. Microsoft likes to trow half finished things on the wall and see if it sticks. Thats why i left Windows. They did this too often for my taste.

You can work on Windows on their Windows 11, but I don’t think they want anyone tampering with the codes of Windows while using Kubernetes. They were like this since Windows 8 came around and didn’t make it true to the programmers that their information can actually be safe even as they are programming. Safer than when they are just casually using Windows.
