I upgraded from a 15-inch Air with 16GB Unified to the base model MacBook Pro M4 base model, mainly for ports, mini-LED, 120hz, and a much brighter screen for outdoors. Having the fan is also nice for occasional intense tasks. I'd be lying if I said I don't miss the 15" Air and even consider switching back due to how slim and portable it was with a perfect display size. That laptop was so damn practical.
Please I need an advice of which MacBook I can get for work, I just finished/graduated from IT and I looking for a good MacBook to buy but I am confused on which I can get, please can you recommend for me thanks
people should really spring for the entry level pro, it's a great deal compared to the air, for 300 dollars more you are getting a markedly better processor in the m4 compared to m3, more ports, and a better display, m3 was gimped in some weird ways so people should just go for m4 macs in general over the m3 predecessors
They do.. so does Amazon. It's the best value for a MacBook there has ever been. Most people won't feel the difference between an M3 and M2. If you are just looking for an entry level MacBook .. this .. is .. it. The only caveat is the 256GB of storage. It sucks, but I would get an external SSD if you need more space.
@@ericmatthews8497 yh but the ssd is slow on the m2. I returned mine for a new color at costco, and they accidentally gave me an m3 15 inch midnight lol. Was my lucky day they messed up. I actually notice a slight difference in everyday speed. It used to be a little slower to open youtube, but now its flawless
You might want to update this video, in multiple tech sites yesterday that Blur Busters' Ross Young showed that the M4 Macbook Pro display now uses Quantum Dot tech, and Apple had not said anything about it beforehand. This would explain the massive color improvement.
I bought the M3 MPB 16/1TB on sale for $1,399. after a few days, I decided to exchange it for the M3 MacBook Air 16/256 for $899. I rather save $500 right now while I am learning a new skill with the MacBook. IF when my projects become too demanding causing my MacBook Air m3 to crash multiple times, I will just settle for a Mac mini M4. But for now, the M3 MacBook Air will suffice for my needs.
I bought a Pro because the Air doesn’t come with an HDMI port and I need to give presentations. I don’t like dongles. What, you thought it had something to do with the processor?
Hey, I was wondering how annoying the fans were on the M4s because I will be using it for travel and I don’t want to annoy anyone else I may be sitting by.
@ thanks, that was the one thing keeping me from getting one because I work outside a lot and need the nano-texture but just didn’t know if I’d annoy my next door neighbors with the fans. Thanks a lot for clarifying that though.
I went with an entry level 14" m1 pro macbook pro over the macbook air back in 2020 just for watching youtube etc because the built in speakers are flipping AMAZING. Every day I enjoy the deep bass and spatial audio. Maybe the newer airs have better speakers, but at the time, it was an easy decision.
It's the ports, or rather lack of, with the Air that concerns myself. Not a high performance user, but my 9 y.o Mac can no longer handle Photoshop/Lightroom work so needing to look at something new
I’m a realtor looking for something cost effective. I do download a lot of documents, I also use a CRM and make phone calls from my computer. Other than that I don’t do too much on it as I also have an iPad. WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND?
I have a 14 MacBook M1 Pro base model. I’m in cyber security and run a few virtual machines and do 2d animation on the side. Never found it to be slow. Just need a bit more ram. I want a bigger screen though and looking at 15air vs 16pro. Amazon has 15” m3 air 24 gb on sale for $1499. The cost of the 16 pro is so high! Wife is actually the one who needs new laptop and will get my old MacBook Pro.
Im looking to get the best valued MacBook for video editing. At the high end I will be editing 4K video. Should I be looking at the M4 base or is getting a max M1 a good idea? Over all what would recommend for the best valued video editing Mac in all the line up from M1 to M4? I don’t care about having the latest
Will the base m4 MacBook Pro last for years if I just use it for writing, web surfing, and just use the apps that are already on there? That’s the only decent Mac there is (16 gigs of ram and 512 storage) at the store I’m getting it at. The only m4 Mac mini they have is the 256 storage one. The MacBook Air is lacking ports and only has 8 gigs ram and 256 storage there. Will 16 gigs of ram last for years (7-9) if you just use the apps that are on there and keep the A.I. off? And do the batteries in MacBooks last for years?
My old Windows laptop is still going for 11 years in a row doing that basic stuff. I'm pretty sure the MacBook Pro is gonna do a much better job than that.
Interesting, I have a fleet of 140 of these at work and haven't seen this issue. They may bog down a little due to memory swapping (8GB model) but they certainly don't freeze.
I was thinking wither m4 MacBook Pro m3 MacBook Air or wait for the m4 MacBook Air. Well, I bought an m1 MacBook Air with 1tb ssd 16 gb ram and 8 core gpu, couldn't be happier, the machine is more than fast enough for video edition using Final Cut, and the fact that I added the thermal pads to the heatsink which maintain a lower temp, I'm able to drop my export time so that's cool. At this point I'm not longer on a rush and maybe wait another 2 years and get a redesign of the MacBook Air or pro.
Hi everyone! I'm an IT specialist based in Singapore, and I'm contemplating whether to get the MacBook Air M4 around spring next year or opt for the base model MacBook Pro M4. I plan to upgrade the storage capacity to 512GB, which puts the MacBook Air at approximately SGD 1,899 and the MacBook Pro at SGD 2,199-a $300 difference. I'm unsure if the additional cost is worth it, given the Pro offers a 10-core CPU/GPU, an extra port, and a better display. Considering my usage is primarily browser-related tasks, document processing, and some virtualization labs for work, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Do you think the upgrade is worth it for my needs?
if i were you i would just wait for the m4 air to drop and wait like 1-2 weeks there will be tons of video of the comparison between the m4 mbp and the m4 air. But the M4 base model for the mbp is so good this year it's insane. But just like i said just wait for the m4 air to drop and then look for videos comparing the m4 air with the m4 mbp
Hi looking for advice on an upgrade from a m1 air or if it's worth upgrading. Current laptop use is for work, use for Heidi ai dictation and taking notes. Also started doing amateur photography and use lightroom for editing. Don't need storage as use ssd's so would be looking at base models mainly. Confused on what would be the best for my needs knowing that I have started using more ai programs for work. Would the m4 pro be best? M3 pro/air? M2 air? Or should I even bother upgrading?
Not sure which 14 inch model I should get. I know for certain I want a pro and I tested it out and found the 14 to be the most comfortable. My usage case will be - GTA Vice City, Democracy 4 - Emulators like visual boy advance and Dolphin - Logic/Ableton I want to learn to make Trance EDM music and post it on Soundcloud. - some basic video editing to upload on UA-cam for fun. Nothing serious btw low end stuff m - Basic media consumption and general productivity. The 14 inch pro has the best form factor, speaker and battery life for me and I know for storage I'm probably looking at 2TB. My current MacBook is a 2015 MacBook pro I7 512GB 16GB of RAM. I'm in Canada btw. If I get the M4 model I'd get the top m4 and the following configurations -M4 10/10/16 -24 GB of RAM -2 TB of storage If I were to go for the M4 Pro I'd -2Tb of storage - Base processor -24 GB RAM Cost difference is $350 cad between the M4 pro and M4 option I'm looking at.
$500 for an M1 Macbook is actually a TERRIBLE deal for the following reasons: 1. A laptop is typically a long-term purchase for most people meaning a person will not upgrade until at least 5 years later and even then they might wait much longer if their laptop still works great. 2. Money isn't the only currency. TIME is a currency too. If you can save up $500 for a laptop, you can save up $1,000-$1,500 for a laptop. Most people finance their purchases. Even on a minimum wage job, a college student can save up an additional $400-$500 to combine it with the initial $500 so they DON'T have to buy an old M1 Macbook for $500. Zero point in paying $500 for an M1 Macbook especially if it comes with 8GB of RAM.
The m4 pro literally outperforms every other laptop near its class. You cannot get, at all, any laptop that matches this combination of performance, battery life, and thermals. Not to mention the screen and the build qualitt. The only ones that are, indeed, more powerful: A) are more expensive B) are heavy tanks plagued with fan noise and high temperature C) have terrible battery life
@@RodrigoFerreira-bs6hdSure in benchmarks the M4 outperforms, but it's probably not a noticeable difference for most people plus the MacBook doesn't have an oled panel. It seems pretty fragile too, people seem cautious of it so the build quality seems overrated. Also, mac os is trash so why pay more for an inferior product?
@nickkerr6068 ah I see, the obvious difference in performance isn't noticeable but the miniLEd vs OLED is? Please. With double the brightness, the miniLED will likely look better anyways. And the difference is noticeable. If you don't need any of this, sure kind, go buy an inferior product.
total slight on the MBA. I have the 16g/1t version and it rocks as my daily driver. Yes yes use case, I get it, but you can’t just say it’s better than a Chromebook.

Pro 100%! 💯. Pros are for Professionals. Since you can use Final Cut on any of these computers now, it really doesn’t matter. The pro has a better screen and a few other IO options. This is the best time ever NOT to buy a Pro model and still be able to do every task you desire. Well, until Apple upgrades to Final Cut 11.
