He used to get his bread at Justin le blanc Walton street behind Harrods . He used to call my mum his we Scot’s lassie ,my step dad was a baker and my mum worked in the shop, she said he was such a gentleman always polite and curious ,great man.
Had the privilege of knowing George quite well. Very tragic when he lost his second wife to cancer and then raised lots for the scanner at Southampton hospital. Then married his screen wife with encouragement from his daughters. He had an affair with Marilyn Monroe and was known as the British Errol Flynn as he was very dashing . RIP George
I really enjoyed this video. George had done so much more than I knew. I loved the church too, there's something fascinating about old churches isn't there? I got the feeling you were welcome there, the doors opened very nicely without being asked to! They wanted the church to be seen. Shame they didn't show themselves. Thank you Paul, you're a total superstar!
Lovely situation to be buried. A church graveyard that is still open and used ( not a cemetery) . Trouble with George was that he did his job with efficiency and smoothly, never got into the 'Red Top' press so disappeared from view. Thanks for bringing back to life as it mere. As you always do.
Great actor loved him in Robin of Sherwood playing Marion’s father .Like Paul said haven’t realised he’s been gone that long ago. Another great video 👍
Yes all Some mothers do have em are brilliant but George was absolutely brilliant how on earth he didn't crack up laughing. Just shows what a great actor he really was.
Another great respectful tribute Paul. He was a great actor and it was the best series to be made in Hampshire. Loved all the adaptations of Ruth Rendell books and she went on record to say she even pictured George as Reg Wexford when writing the stories. No better accolade. I need to visit here real soon so thank you for showing us. Keep up the good work 👍
Hello there Paul, hope you're ok mate. - I remember George, in the main, playing a Police detective. A brilliant and versatile actor, and dedicated family man. God rest his soul. The world is missing a great man. R.I.P. George.

0:16 That's so great I used to watch I Claudius series religiously, because of my other favourite actors Brian blessed and Derek Jacobi as well John hurt as well as Sian Phillips, but George was such a fabulous actor in the epic series of this programme, I always got him mixed up with William Pertwee as hodgers off dad's army for some strange reason , he had such a very distinctive voice, the little church was very beautiful and stunning inside I love country little quaint places, like that very peaceful and warm ,I really enjoyed today video Paul Thanks ever so much, Many Thanks as always your Friend Rodders 🤘🏻🎸😎👑😔
Great actor I think we all have a favourite character he played I loved him in the Ruth Rendell series Lovely little Church & graveyard Thanks again for a great video Paul 👍🏻
Pleased to have the chance to say goodbye to a lovely man. The Inspector Wexford series were filmed up the road from me in Romsey. During filming he rented a cottage near my niece's place and we would go out and take the dogs for a walk and he would often be in his front garden and we would chat. His first wife was in hospital in Southampton on the same ward as my late sister-in-law Jen and he would chat to Jen when he went in to visit his wife. When visiting he would eat at one of our local pubs and the landlord and customers tucked him under their wings. So glad he married Lou, he deserved to be happy. Thanks, Paul. x
