My Dad passed away in Feb 2017. He liked Acker Bilk's music...Stranger on the shore was played at his funeral. R.I.P Dad xx
Was played at my uncles funeral too he went into it
@choosingyourdreamdress4194 Sorry for your loss
❤
Me too , I just love this song. Sometimes, when I'm cooking, I find myself humming to it. I think it is a beautiful song.
❤❤
I hope the Parish Council see this episode and sort her out.
For all she knows you could have been a distant relitive.
Always loved Ackers music, my mother was a total fan.
He had a run in with a Karen.
Not posh enough for her. Hunting and fishing brigade think they own the countryside and really hate outsiders on their turf.
So the church has a car park, and you're visiting the church or it's grounds, but you cannot use the car park.. Then what is the car park for.. You should have asked her..
She works for the church > voluntary or is a local to the area who has been given a power trip ego. I think people would like to know what's the church called and then write to them or the church diocese to find out why people visiting cannot use the car park.
Plus shame her as well.
Sad to say, it is likely image. She's seen his Car, his Tats and his Rings and thought he was yob. In outside town places it can be like this all over the world to be fair...
An outstanding musician I remember him when I was a child his music used to make me stop and watch him on the tele he was so good RIP little fella ❤️ you bought so much joy to peoples lives
When my mum passed away last year we played his song ARIA at her funeral. She loved him
That’s a beautiful piece of music
sorry for your loss sandra
❤ That piece always brings me to tears . RIP to your mum x
Loved Acker bilks music it’s so beautiful and relaxing
Brilliant music. sends shivers down your spine, my mum also loved strangers on the shore.
I was a policeman in the Chew Valley for many years, Acker Bilk sometimes played at our annual police balls, lovely bloke.
Great to hear thanks 🙏
RIP to a very talented man x 🙏
A chap I knew back in the late 70s bought Acker's Rolls Royce. I got to ride in it a few times. It still bore the number plate ACKER 1 RIP.
Hi Paul, it sounds like you’ve just met car park Karen 😂😂, oh, and I loved Acker bilk when he released stranger on the shore, way back about 1962, great show, keep up the great work
My mum adored the songs stranger on the shore and aria she has now passed on but I listen to aker bilk and it reminds me of my mum listening to his album and ironing our school uniform on a sunday for the next day happy memories ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Stranger On the Shore inspired me to learn the clarinet. Aria still makes me cry. 😢 x
@@debb4809 aria breaks my heart everytime I listen to it its such a sad melody 😥😪
@@leea2112 I can't even listen to Aria. It pulls at me in a way I can't describe. Tears aplenty run when I ever hear it. 😢
@@debb4809 I'm the same especially the memories I have as a child my mum playing it now that shes passed its soul destroying to be honest one of the saddest melodies i have ever heard for sure 😪
@@leea2112 Entirely agree. Such a sense of yearning in those notes.
I know Acker himself mentioned he got sick of playing Stranger on the Shore but it still gets spun on radio and I always turn it up when it comes on. Love those hedgerows in Somerset and what a beautiful village.
Such a delightful little (car free) village. Thank you for bringing STRANGER ON THE SHORE back to my fading memory❤❤❤
Hello Paul. Lovely presentation again. A truly talented musician.thank you
Aker bulk stranger n the sax , brill ,great U cover so nice guy.
Hi Paul, beautiful church hidden miles from the car park. RIP Acker Bilk 💐💐💐💐, thats a beautiful grave. Thank you xxx
Thank you for showing us Aker Bilks resting place, What a Lovely peaceful setting for him and his Beloved Wife. R.I.P. His rendition of Stranger On The Shore is an Evergreen, No matter What decade you play it in it Always delights and brings back sweet memories of days gone by. I am Disgusted with that Terrible women that refused to let you park in the church grounds, How Very Dare she make you walk So Far Back ! What a Cheek ! I would have reported her for such a Blatant Wrongdoing ! She should be Dismissed Immediately from her position. In my opinion she is not fit to serve the church . I felt sorry for you having to go through that. My God Where is the Compassion today for humanity when you come across people like that. There is Nowt As Queer As Folk Comes to mind. God Bless. Tons of Love and Gratitude from Dublin ! XXXXX

Stranger on the Shore is always lurking somewhere in my various playlists. Lovely resting place for him, even more so when you read the inscription and realise it was a place he loved in his youth.
I was expecting "Jobs Worth" to run down the aisle and chase you out of the church!
A very good choice,Paul.Aker Bilk could make that clarinet "sing"
A lovely video to a lovely man
I have his album which my late mother in law loved to play & was the inspiration for my daughter to learn & play the Clarinet at 13 something she still enjoys to do at 35

Loved to hear him play. He was the best! My daughter a music teacher and clarinetist. So have listened to lots of clarinet music over the years. Will enjoy this video.
Remember him when I was about 5 or 7 years old that bowler hat and pin striped waistcoat and " stranger on the shore" single still gives goosepimples now when I hear it "Aria" I think is the other one he is well known for RIP gent 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
What a peaceful tranquil place very pretty. Beautiful church. My mum loved aka bilk so I do remember his music he was very talented. I almost expected someone to jump out at you in the church, but what a lovely resting place for Acker Bilk and his wife in the churchyard and a great memorial stone.Loved 'Stranger on the Shore ' not known anyone since to play the clarinet like him.
Thanks Paul most enjoyable watch.
Evening paul looking forward to this one thank you.
Well sounds about right. Some people who attend church think that they are holier than thou. Anyway thanks for another entertaining video😊
Jedenfalls hier. Schön das du an ihn gedacht hast.🙏🏻
Auch der Kirchgang war wieder super 👍🏻.

Hi Paul, I'm church Warden of my local church in Birmingham, and I'm saddened that you weren't made to feel welcome at a place that is for everyone.

He was a great musician for many years
Loved his music
I was watching Talking Pictures last night
Back in the mid to late 70’s there was a chat show hosted by Dick Hills and Sid Green via Southern TV called Tell Me Another
One of their guests was Acker Bilk I suppose part of my childhood and a great musician- when there were many of his peers still alive
Great video 👍 👍 ❤️❤️🏴🏴
Beautiful graveyard❤
Good old acker. You are missed
Great video Paul 👍
Thank you Paul for another fantastic video x
Just managed to see it . brilliant as all was paul
Classic melody, forever remembered from my early teens. Thanks Paul for the blog. Who was the grumpy jobs worth? Lost half a finger, didn't know about that, but adapted and played the clarinet beautifully.
Hi Paul,
What a shame you were prevented from parking in the church carpark. However, nice film and a nice tribute to Acker Bilk. As always, keep ‘em coming!
Best wishes,
Mark
He also once appeared as a guest darts thrower on ITVs Bullseye in a episode from 1984. He was throwing for charity in the Bronze Bully round
Wow Paul.😮!!!!!!!!! You finally managed to get into a church at last 😂 well done mate.
Anyway joking apart, I remember Acker Bilk myself even though I'm in my middle forties, he was a legend in the music world, and Stranger's on a shore will always stick in my mind as one of his greatest hits.
Well done Paul for yet another good UA-cam video, keep up the good work mate.
On another note and yes I understand that your a really busy person at work and no doubt have loads of people asking you for famous graves visits? But if possible whenever you get through your large list of people to go and visit, could there be any chance you could go and visit a guy called Adge Cutler who was the manager of the best folk group in the West Country (The Wurzels) which I am a great fan of myself 🤩🤩 it'll be nice to see where his is buried.
Anyway Paul I'll leave the idea up to you and look forward to seeing it on UA-cam one day maybe?
Anyway all the best to you.
From. Devon Mike.
Great video
Hi Paul 👍 strangers on the shore my Dad's favourite.
Hi Paul a pub I used to drink in got taking over by a big fan of AB and turned into a steak house and his music was always on in the background the pub was the Cabin bar in Elderslie Scotland loved this.

Acker Bilk was such a talented musician I remember my mother and dad listening to him , a legend indeed in the musical world. What a beautiful location to be put to rest, a beautiful headstone and the church was lovely. Can't understand why you couldn't use the car park looks like the lady was just being awkward.
Great x
Nice video about a great musician I remember him well. Clearly the welcome didn’t extend to the car park 😢
Nice episode Paul, but never heard of Acker Bilk.
We used to swim in the river and jump off of that bridge in Publow which is a tiny village three quarters of a mile from Pensford also a small village but a great place to live
We lived near Aka ...lovely man..
So nice to hear 🙏
Stranger on the shore classic song . Great musician R.I.P thanks paul l be watching this
Hi Paul
You want to go to Blackburn cemetery there is a giant buried there. His grave is huge think its 10ft long. Frederick Kempster he was born in London in 1889 died in Blackburn 1918 (aged 29) if your ever up that way. 🎉 congratulations 80k well done 👏🏻
Thanks for lovely video. Sorry you did not feel welcome. I can assure you that not all us west country folk are like that.
Very true! And thank you, I met a lovely person as I was leaving and he was very welcoming.
Probably rushed to lock the car park because she was expecting a massive influx of parishioners for mattins. Oh!!!! Maybe not as few folk go to church nowadays. I wonder why, Acker Bilk was an absolute true legend and thanks for visiting him and his dear wife,
Great video Paul, lovely words on Acker Bilks memorial. Shame how the Christian do gooder treated you, these people seem to be everywhere in these communities,we have a similar one who hovers around the car park asking why are you parking here and how long do you intend to stay for?!. Looking forward to the next one, have a great day👍
People can be funny,, stuck in there ways I think x
Another awesome video you put alot into your programs but if you have time in your busy schedule more paranormal needed as that is what people love and you did say the paranormal does not scare you and you used too do ghost hunts so we will see exactly what your scared off anyway away for now oh and i see your fan list growing well done you sir :)
Some friends of mine use to live near a place for people with mental health issues and Aka Bilks brother was a patient there. The rumour was that Aka was paying for his treatment
Acker bilk great music and cool look Paul 👍🏻. Bet the woman at the car park had a hiviz on 😂. Oh they love a bit of power. Rip Acker
Very trusting nowadays to leave a church unlocked when there's nobody there
Hi Paul can you do the Grave of Sir Carol Reed and keep up with the great video Paul 👍
I liked him from Gemma Dickinson
I was almost expecting the "lovely" christian woman who locked the car park on you to be in the church when you went in. Ha!
I used to love Acker Bilk's music as a kid.
I heard of him not my tipe of music but very talented musician love here sbout interesting people and rest place Paul 😊
I have also come across the Church parking Nazis a good number of times in my roll as an F D .
That was a dangerous walk you were forced to make on a very narrow wet road! You certainly remained calmer than I could’ve under the circumstances. Shameful behaviour and attitude, so sorry Paul.
Stellar job as usual though on a gloomy grey day. Long time since I’ve seen a brolly😆.
Take care out there🙏🏻
Hi Paul
When we was kids we used to say Acker Bilk spillt Milk 😂
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🌹
Hello Paul, I am sorry you has this trouble with parking. Write to the vicar and ask for his/her comments. Is this another reason why the Anglican churches are empty.
