That's why they're similar in this situation.
@@muntu1221 I agree with what you're saying but allow me to piggy back and add that Sukuna in this case doesn't need to run away like Toji did. What he needed was to stick to his original philosophy, like Toji should have. Toji philosophy geared him towards not having that pride to continue fighting an opponent he knows nothing about. To Sukuna killing and fighting to him was just the way to past the time or have fun. He's hedonistic in nature and lives solely for that sort of pleasure. It was never truly personal because Sukuna doesn't see people as worth the time and effort to produce the emotions necessary to consider it a personal vendetta and nor did he even understand the value of those emotions in the first place but because of being trapped in Yuji just that small amount of time, forced him to actually have to think about someone other than himself. Then he comes to realize that Yuji truly believes he can match him and at this point of the story, chapter 248, Sukuna watches Yuji go from nothing to actually being able to swap hands with him pre-awakened. He makes it personal because he's irritated, much like Toji vs Awakened Gojo. Toji felt uneasy and instead of trusting his instincts that have led him that far he decided to bet on his pride and he's the sort of person who isn't prideful. Sukuna will lose because of this mid moment of deviation of self is not something he is familiar with. To kill and fight for the sake of personal feelings is not Sukuna's way. Whether he knows it or not, he's taken a step off his path which is at the core, vital for a Jujutsu Sorcerer.

His domain expansion mudra (hand sign) seems point in same direction which is he is going to die. But hopefully im wrong our boy need to live for most part of manga all he took are L this is his time to shine and show why he is HIM
Ngl the way Gege shows Sukuna in the story is dependent on the reader the way that I see it. Like dropping breadcrumbs to show how he became the way he is and why. -80% of a Sorcerer's talent comes from their genetics, yet we dont know who Sukuna's parent's are. -Sukuna literally starved in the womb and in order to survive had to eat his brother in order to live. We also get told that twins are seen as the same person, which is an oddly inhuman explanation of how Jujutsu works because the soul is the body and the body is the soul so Sukuna literally ate himself. That would mean Him and Jin have the same soul. This could further play into his nature as we see Jin being the polar opposite of him in everyway meaning Jin and Sukuna literally had emotions the other could not have.(Possibly) -Sukuna was called an unwanted little wretch. -Sukuna possibly born with 4 arms and 2 mouths from his birth (due to his soul being complete when he ate Jin) inside of Yuji we see a Sukuna with only two arms, however he is still capable of manifesting another mouth. -As Monstrous as he is a character there are things that stand out as odd. Sukuna being a poet, living the life of a noble yet being poor, wearing a females Kimono (which some of the community believes to be from his mother). -Instead of bad mouthing his opponents while they're dying he watches and consoles them letting them rest in peace.(He's been doing the job Yuji was cursed to do from his Grandpa without being surrounded by those he loves and I dont see people talking about this. Every major character with purpose who has fought Sukuna he has given them a satisfying death whether it be curse or human. Gojo, Jogo, Kashimo,.) -And yet instead of saying he will live forever and do whatever he wants, he doesn't do that...he literally says he will fight until the day someone kills him. (He didn't say anything of the sort about plaguing humanity forever even tho he could). -Sukuna has some humanity left in him, however being in the Golden Age where you either fought or died or were respected enough to be left alone. Sukuna was worhsipped as a Deity in the past shown when they held festivals for him. Sukuna could have out right slaughtered them all yet he didnt. Sukuna could have gone around destroying every Jujutsu Sorcerer out there and had fun doing it because literally no one in the past could have stopped him. Yet we see Sukuna literally allowed the Ancestors of the Gojo, Zenin, Kamo, Fujiwara and Sugaware to survive. I'm trying to figure out if Sukuna was so much of a monster why does he give things of generosity to others instead of destroying everything. Going against his very quote (Destroying everything in his path like a Calamity.) I haven't seen anyone touch on this.
I dare to say Sukuna and even Kenjaku surpassed the whole monster concept. Sukuna is not human or curse, yet he is the prototype of the optimization of cursed energy this is why he is worshipped as a deity. If Sukuna were a curse or monster then he would have obliterated humanity but he is beyond that.
Amazingly articulated. Even with this video, people will still find a way to reason “why” Sukuna should win. But he already has, and kept winning over 1000 years. He ascended beyond humanity and lives as a being not fully curse and also not fully human. He defeated Gojo Satoru, the strongest sorcerer humanity had to offer and went on a generational run. I think Sukuna fans just want him to be immortal. It’s a strange worship of a character because he reflects their beliefs. Strangely enough, i wonder how many individuals could relish in an eternity of solitude.
The man has had almost too good of a run tbh, he dominated in his native era, came back in the future as fingers and cleaned house against the majority of modern Jujutsu society. Ignoring how many times he just ignored death he's dominated long enough imo
The problem is Gege wrote Sukuna as an immortal character that could not be defeated by anyone. And now you're frustrated that Sukuna fans want Sukuna's character to remain consistent. Now that is strange indeed.
@@biggangsta1421 Also he literally only lost because of his bias against Yuji He could have won at the last moment or earlier if it wasn't for this bias Also he is fighting without a plan whereas his enemies are He essentially is the strongest even if he is defeated. after laying out yujis ideals like that sukunas defeat is practically confirmed. like having sukuna trample on that message basically just preaches a message of hedonism and selfishness, n that isnt a message gege would be pushing to a bunch of shonen readers 😭😭
I don't message matters that much. It's a story. You're free to interpret it however you perceive it. Just because Itadori is the main character doesn't mean he should win. If you're concerned about sending a bad message. That would be one.
Im glad to see people growing up from the "Game of Thrones" trend that we've been experiencing for a while now. Simply killing off characters doesnt equate to a better story. Yuji in mamy ways represents to me a true testament to what a real good, tough mindset means. Hes the only one who doesnt allow himself to be shaken by the turmoil of the world. No matter how bleak things get, no matter how much Sukuna's idealogy seems to be true and assist him in the final battle, hs stands firm on what truly matters. Hes truly one of the best Shonen heroes for that reason. Even the simplest things matter. Life, beyond everything, matters. Regardless if anyone else understands it.
The Self-centeredness, egocentrism, self-interest, narcissism, self-absorption, self-serving, egoism, avarice, cupidity, covetousness, rapacity, materialism, voracity, gluttony of people might break everyone your friends, family members, connections, but it will never break Yu.........ji.
Now that Yuji has had his epiphany and nearly dropped the cog mentality, I think thematically he has to win now. Megumi will probably help somehow and die in the process tho.
Yuji will have to find a way to not kill Sukuna, but exorcize him. Jin’s Soul was able to reincarnate throughout time same with disaster curses. The only way this ends is by transforming cursed energy.
I think it’s really nice to know that the infinity technique (Via Gojo) was the only solid win case against Sukuna. Why? Because it proves he was the strongest. It also created better story telling. Any other managaka would have just given the world cutting slash to Sukuna thru Rage amps. Gege on the other hand saw this as an opportunity to give Sukuna points in battle iQ. Not only that, but also giving body to the description of what it means to be “monster” in the JJK world. Gege is not afraid to have his characters fight dirty. Fight without the sense of human morality. This is what it means to be strongest. Because only the survivor has bragging rights. Sukuna ran the gauntlet and is about to lose. Creating monsters out of his opponents (Yuta). Yet who is going to be one to end him? A teenager who refuses to be a monster. His antithesis. I am really looking forward to binge reading this final arc again.
Also the fact Gojo still has an influence in the fight. Unlimited void still has an effect + RCT output super low for most of fight Also his cameos still teaching the audience. Sukuna's ideology will die with him. Gojo has his students as his legacy.
@@kevinwang7323 Yup and I think that’s the message really. Legacy vs Solidarity. Monsters vs Humanity. Yuji will win this by not becoming a monster. Something Sukuna has been pushing others to become to compete like Yuta
Thing is that this whole story would really fall short if it ended up like that Not only is Sukuna kind of a twist on a trope so overused by shonen, but also a villain Yuji *needs* to beat in order to grow himself as a person. I myself believe Yuji will follow in that trope, finally beating his inner demons and taking revenge for every single piece of unfortunate shit that happened in his life since then. It isn't lashing out in anger anymore, it is just getting a job done for the sake of a clear mind. Having his own metaphorical demons beat him would steamroll all of the story we got to this point, punching him down again before flushing down the drain the whole story we got. I can see _more_ characters dying. I could even see _Yuji_ dying, but I do *not* see Sukuna winning this.
I think only Megumin will survive. Yuji will break the connection between Megumin and Sukuna take sukuna back to his body and suicide. Megumin the one that always cares more about others than himself at the point of sacrificing himself will survive alone and have to live his life trying to cope with the damage Sukuna did to him and to everyone he cares.
Sukuna WILL lose to Yuji here but it can't be over. There's still too many variables we need to take care of and answers we need! I REALLY hope the merger happens. We can't NOT see the merger!
@@Jib_jibsif there's one thing Gege did right with this arc it was the merger, because on one hand I want to see it but then I remember it requires merging all of Japan into it, and I still want to see it

I’m glad you take the time to break things down for more people who are interested in the series but maybe don’t understand the deeper meaning. Keep it up!
People don't realize sukuna winning be the most boring shit to ever happen. Sukuna has won every fight 90% of them are washes. At least gojo took L's from toji or got sealed because of the circumstances, but for sukuna the entire story went his way. Him winning is not a good subversion its boring sukuna been winning we don't need a subversion ending for that. Also gege spend all this time telling over and over sukuna is nerfed he made everyone come out of kingdom come to assist bunch of people die. If all that pay of all that struggle and nerfing sukuna leads to nothing it be a waste of time. We need a pay for all that work that was put in.
At this point in the plot, FINALLY yuuji is looking down on sukuna for not sharing in his ideology, he found his answer, each person makes their own porpouse in life, no matter how simple, and it's not just about how you die but about how you lived, and the parts of you left behind with those that will remember you, and that was what yuuji was entrusted with; with the memories of those dear to him, and it's just so good as the final thesis of the show.
The sheer fact that gege has applied a classic trope but in such a rich contest where people begin to ponder an absolute loss speaks so great of him as a writer. The fact that this video needs to exist, and it does, shows that he is really good at pulling the rug from our feet even when he is giving us the straight shounen formula
@kvngslatt_ Naruto and MHA are the only ones that really do that. Demon Slayer, Bleach, One Piece, and so many others don't start off with their protagonists name. Sukuna's not the protag, he's the final antagonist of the series.
@@shirothr5384 bleach AND one piece did that. first chapter of bleach has something to do with a Strawberry, which is what Ichigo’s name is. and one piece first chapter is Monkey D. Luffy
Damn, I’m so late to this, but I’d like to add something. In the part of asia, where I come from, there’s a saying that goes like this: THE VILE GETS RAISED HIGH BY GOD, GETS UPROOTED AFTER. That’s what Sukuna is. Amazing video as always ❤
What everyone calls Gege's asspull writing and torture of his main cast is probably one of his greatest strengths as a writer. He's actually managed to convince a portion of his is audience that the main villain of a Shonen Jump manga will kill every protagonist, say what you will but that's impressive
I think the biggest endorsement of Gege as a writer is that every time a chapter drops, we genuinely don’t know if the bad guys will win or if the good guys will die. The shonen trope safety net is gone
I’m of the opinion that bad endings are always almost lack luster. Most of the time they leave us feeling unfulfilled and are extremely hard to use right. It’s only made more difficult when you consider the fact that most people do not read fiction for a bad ending. Me and many people I know like fiction, because it lets us escape the cruelty of the world. It shows us a world where, despite losses and hardship, good DOES prevail. Hence why an ending where Sukuna emerges as the victor would not be fulfilling to most.
Genre: shounen. Bad guy: loses at the end. It ain't that deep. Whoever thinks that Sukuna could win clearly has no idea of the genre of manga they're reading.
He probably will but given the type of world jjk takes place in, there has clearly been a switch or a favouring of the good guys that follow typical shonen ideology. In other words,in a dark world that is jjk where the best death is if your body is still recognisable, sukuna is about to lose to some brat , not because he is weaker than the brat but because yuji is fighting for friendship 🤮🤮.
@@Owen-sx4jjThe true power of friendship lies in fighting side by side with your friends as one. With it, you can do much more than what one monster could accomplish
Its crazy that people need to be told this. The question isn't whether Sukuna wins or loses but if Yuji survives or not, which I think he will because he hasn't found anyone to pass on his memories to yet
Sukuna theoretically should of won already, I think it’s mad plot armor that yuji all of sudden can kill Sukuna. Like why didn’t you do that earlier???
@@Nihaal_lol its funny how sukuna killed nearly ALL the characters, and you think this guy, is a gojo fan? you might be right but still, not a reason to be a bitch
Sukuna has no right to criticize anyone. If anything, he is the biggest coward of them all. He just CANT seem to process the idea of dying. To me, the fact that he’s lived so long just shows me how afraid he is to be forgotten and dead. And it makes sense since he says he doesn’t feel anything. I think sukuna feels like he doesn’t matter and maybe in his childhood everyone hated him so he just took that route
I'll be honest, a small part wants to see sukuna win just because i think its funny but the rest of me wants to see yuji win cuz he fuckin deserves it after everything sukuna has put him through
Everyone would be in shock when Sukuna goes Berserk and start pummeling everyone with some new move he’s not used in a while besides everyone has to die before Sukuna with the exception of Yuji, Mind you Sukuna don’t wanna kill Yuji he just want to torment him. Like that uncle who you think never likes you but low key he’s grooming you to your potential. Sukuna only want to turn Yuji into the next Sukuna. Sukuna can’t die he will have to be sacrificed or turn back into the 20 fingers
He is not winning it’s easily obvious the reason Gege is giving him such importance is to say good bye to the character who made this series so interesting
The thing is jjk is a very down to earth series similar to hunter x hunter, there antagonists feels so unstoppable its hard to visualize them losing even when they already are Take illumi, hisoka, chrollo for example Can u imagine how would there fates turn out, can u see illumi or hisoka losing to killua and gon? No because unlike naruto, one piece or bleach jjk fights dont have a final clash, most climactic fights in these series ends in a brutal fashion This is the similar thing with sukuna, u cannot imagine him and itadori colliding domains together and itadori just wins, the only way he will kill sukuna is either turning him into a donut or any other methods, even the gojo vs sukuna fight ended like it
The problem is that the messaging can be as strong as he wants it to, but that doesn't matter if the writing itself is riddled with flaws that make it bad by the rules of writing, which Gege has done many times in these past 30 chapters. Why couldn't Gojo or Yuta RCT their loeer halves when up to this point it was stated that a Sorcerer could RCT so long as they had more than just their head, this even specially being how Kenjaku has to elimante on of the Culling Games members and even himself has to be killed? On that note, how did Sukuna cut Yuta in half with World Cutting Slash when he couldn't make the hand signs to do so, of which the Binding Vow that let him unalive Gojo was added to explain that situation AFTER Yuta was also already cut in half? Which leads into, how and why do Binding Vows work, in specific and thorough exacts? Unless these questions are answered BY GEGE IN THE STORY, then it doesn't matter how good or strong of a message the story is meant to leave. Gege failed in the most important regard: Delivering that message in a way that worked within the established lore and logic of his world. It doesn't even matter if the fanbase or critics regard it highly in the end, as the writing, because of the aformentioned issues, is bad, which ruins the story as a whole unless these issues are fixed.
I have never really understood the idea that people think this would end with sukuna winning. No matter what happens, JJK is at it's core, a battle shonen manga. It is a shonen. The good guys will win on the end. It's more the WAY they end up winning that i'd be worried about, if anything.
@@NirvanaLunana jjk is compared to devilman HELLA. the protagonist lost in death note, in jojo part 6 everyone lost, aot, gurren lagann. also to say jjk is a shonen cliche is just wrong, ones of the main reasons why jjk is loved is BECAUSE it subverts those typical shonen expectations
@@kvngslatt_ is that why the main cast of 4 in JJK is compared to naruto's main cast? Also AOT is a very poor example, considering at the end Eren was NOT the protagonist, he was the ANTAGONIST, which is why AOT's ending is special. JoJo in general doesn't try to be like a typical Battle shonen. Hell, half the time it's trying to be a comedy more than a battle shonen(at least in earlier parts, ik in part 6 it's a bit more serious with higher stakes). But yes, i'd give you that; Also JJK is compared to literally all other shonen manga, especially the ones it is clearly heavily inspired by, such as naruto or bleach. I could give countless examples, such as domain expansions clearly being inspired by Bleach's Bankai, The whole demon in the protagonist inspired by naruto, the cursed energy thing most likely being inspired by the concept of 'ki/chakra' in DBZ/Naruto, it takes a more dark approach to the fate of characters like in AOT where it is a world that is CONSTANTLY putting character's at death's door(or putting them through death's door) The list goes on. I think one comment i heard in a video really sums it up best; JJK is an unapologetic cliché-abusing shonen, done at it's best. It knows what it is, it knows what it wants to do, and for the most part, does it extremely well
Honestly it was chapter 236 and the shit with higaruma’s domain on first viewing that made me think that we might have seen Sukuna win as nothing was going well for the hero only sukuna ( half of this problem comes from Gojo being killed of screen like I think Gojo dying offscreen is Gege’s worse decision) but that started to change when Yuta when the tides started to change and even if something went wrong there would be something that brought hope Examples and spoliers but Megumi dosent get up and causes Yuta and yuji to get hit with a world cutting slash - maki shows up Sukuna uses furnace/ divine flame and choso (in the best death in the series) sacrifices himself to protect his brother but it seems everyone is dead- MOTHER FUCKING AOI TODO COMES IN and says that using mei mei’s and the new boogie woogie that they might have gotten out And of course Yuta in Gojo’s body runs out of time - yuji’s domain expansion Even the sukuna cycle shows this with everyone coming out to beat sukuna showing that as long as you didn’t give up like how the sorcerers sukuna will be taken down
The only reason I don't see Sukuna winning because if he was gonna win, he would have. Honestly to be fair, he should have with how strong they show him to be.
I didn’t think anyone actually thought sukuna would win, I thought that people were just joking. It’s makes sense that gege would want to go through the arsenal of his characters then have the main character either kill sukuna or do something to make him lose.

Sukuna and Toji could've both run away.

This could further play into his nature as we see Jin being the polar opposite of him in everyway meaning Jin and Sukuna literally had emotions the other could not have.(Possibly)
-Sukuna was called an unwanted little wretch.
Gojo, Jogo, Kashimo,.)
-And yet instead of saying he will live forever and do whatever he wants, he doesn't do that...he literally says he will fight until the day someone kills him.
Going against his very quote (Destroying everything in his path like a Calamity.)
I haven't seen anyone touch on this.
I would say kenjaku is more messed up than sukuna
i’m pretty sure sukuna was just around that Heian lifestyle so much it cemented in his mind “only the strongest can do what they want”

@@Subpar1O1Not only that in his native era, he was thrown into a game where he dominated all the other eras from over 1000 years aswell.

Thing is that this whole story would really fall short if it ended up like that
Not only is Sukuna kind of a twist on a trope so overused by shonen, but also a villain Yuji *needs* to beat in order to grow himself as a person.
As always I'm yapping more than you but thank you for being THAT guy. I never miss a video I can't wait for you to talk about Sakamoto. Thanks again.

@@Stefan2010aGood writing is making us think the bad guy might win. Bad writing is making the bad guy win

Take illumi, hisoka, chrollo for example
Can u imagine how would there fates turn out, can u see illumi or hisoka losing to killua and gon? No because unlike naruto, one piece or bleach jjk fights dont have a final clash, most climactic fights in these series ends in a brutal fashion
This is the similar thing with sukuna, u cannot imagine him and itadori colliding domains together and itadori just wins, the only way he will kill sukuna is either turning him into a donut or any other methods, even the gojo vs sukuna fight ended like it
Yuji learning all of kaisen in less than a month doesnt either but here we are...
Adhd version: good side gonna be winning on shonnen, no matter what
The problem is that the messaging can be as strong as he wants it to, but that doesn't matter if the writing itself is riddled with flaws that make it bad by the rules of writing, which Gege has done many times in these past 30 chapters.

Also JJK is compared to literally all other shonen manga, especially the ones it is clearly heavily inspired by, such as naruto or bleach.
It knows what it is, it knows what it wants to do, and for the most part, does it extremely well
@@kvngslatt_ also no, in jojo part 6 the protagonists did not 'lose'. So that point is also just wrong.
Honestly it was chapter 236 and the shit with higaruma’s domain on first viewing that made me think that we might have seen Sukuna win as nothing was going well for the hero only sukuna ( half of this problem comes from Gojo being killed of screen like I think Gojo dying offscreen is Gege’s worse decision) but that started to change when Yuta when the tides started to change and even if something went wrong there would be something that brought hope
Examples and spoliers but
Megumi dosent get up and causes Yuta and yuji to get hit with a world cutting slash - maki shows up
Sukuna uses furnace/ divine flame and choso (in the best death in the series) sacrifices himself to protect his brother but it seems everyone is dead- MOTHER FUCKING AOI TODO COMES IN and says that using mei mei’s and the new boogie woogie that they might have gotten out
And of course Yuta in Gojo’s body runs out of time - yuji’s domain expansion
Even the sukuna cycle shows this with everyone coming out to beat sukuna showing that as long as you didn’t give up like how the sorcerers sukuna will be taken down
yall do know if you don't have raga or tojis sword your not winning like bro what
He's been winning this whole time to the point of ridiculousness, so why not?
I remember the first theme.
Inb4 Sukuna binding vow's megumis soul to buff his domain amplification
The only reason I don't see Sukuna winning because if he was gonna win, he would have. Honestly to be fair, he should have with how strong they show him to be.
I didn’t think anyone actually thought sukuna would win, I thought that people were just joking. It’s makes sense that gege would want to go through the arsenal of his characters then have the main character either kill sukuna or do something to make him lose.
This video is beautiful
I never doubted that Sukuni will lose. I was just expecting how big of a reveal or comeback power up Yuuji would have to clap him
We defeat sukuna*
If sukuna survives his basically the M.C, and we had this all backwards.
