Live at the Paramount in Seattle still a Top 5 "live" album of all time. This 1973 show I watched live on TV. Forgot what city it was filmed at though. The song,"Those Show Biz Shoes" with the lithe dancer swaying defies words. Big thanks for posting this Mark Farrell.
They were a tight band. I was only 12 years old back then, but I had a lot of girl friends. I used to go to shows like this with bunches of chicks on my arms. IT was good times, and I'll always miss 'em.
I'm in these 60's and 70's social media rock music groups and whenever the question of greatest singer comes up I usually choose Steve Marriott or Ian Gillan,,,, but damn... Burton Cummings needs to be in the top 10 list of greatest ever. Incredible band this was. A better time for sure.

Wow! Dreamt about this band 2 nights ago. No particular songs, just the band and their vibe. Want to "Bless them all" for making me LIVE back then, (when I didn't want to.) Thanks, guys. Blessings.
I caught this version of the band back on February 3rd, 1973 at Lincoln Center in N.Y. City back in the days when they still held rock concerts there. Two words. Absolutely Awesome. The original Live at the Paramount LP was missing so many songs. Had to wait over thirty years but when they re-released the compact disc the second time around my wait was over.
Before his departure from The Guess Who in May 1970, Bachman recorded an instrumental solo album for RCA Records, Axe, over three days in March 1970. The following year, he formed the country rock band Brave Belt with Chad Allan. Brave Belt released its first self-titled LP in 1971. Robbie Bachman was the drummer for Brave Belt, at barely 18 years-old. Fred Turner subsequently joined Brave Belt on bass and vocals, resulting in the band evolving into a heavier sound, which led to the departure of Chad Allan. Left with a three-member line-up, Tim Bachman joined as a second guitarist before Brave Belt disbanded for its members to form another band. With this lineup, the members formed a new band, Bachman-Turner Overdrive and signed a record deal with Mercury Records. Often referred to as "B.T.O." for short, they released their first self-titled album, Bachman-Turner Overdrive in May 1973. In December 1973, the band released their second album, Bachman-Turner Overdrive II. This album brought the band a greater commercial success than their debut, with hits such as "Takin' Care of Business" and "Let It Ride", which charted at #12 and #23 in the US, respectively. In 1974, they released their third album titled, Not Fragile. The release hit #1 on the album charts in both Canada and the United States. The album contained the hits, "Roll On Down the Highway" and "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet", which charted at #14 and #1, respectively. With the latter, Randy had the rare accomplishment of recording an American chart-topper for two different Canadian bands; the other being "American Woman" while he was in The Guess Who.[citation needed] The band remained on the charts through the mid-1970s with their next two albums, Four Wheel Drive and Head On. With these albums, they successfully had additional hit songs with "Hey You", "Take It Like a Man", and the jazz-oriented "Lookin' Out For No. 1". In late-1976, during the recording of their sixth studio album Freeways, some disagreements surfaced within the band. Bachman wrote all but one song and sang on every song but two, while some of the other band members felt that they didn't have enough good material to record and wanted to delay the release. Upon its release, the album charted at #70 in the US, but had no hit singles. Randy Bachman officially quit the band in mid-March 1977. The rest of the band would continue to record and tour until the end of the decade, after Randy agreed to sell the rights to the "BTO" name to the remaining band members.

Wow, as well as being an awesome singer he is also a great pianist!!
And harmonica too
Live at the Paramount in Seattle still a Top 5 "live" album of all time. This 1973 show I watched live on TV. Forgot what city it was filmed at though. The song,"Those Show Biz Shoes" with the lithe dancer swaying defies words. Big thanks for posting this Mark Farrell.
Agreed,I got it last year on a recommendation and it's fantastic.those guys could play!!!
What a Band! Love it.
They were a tight band. I was only 12 years old back then, but I had a lot of girl friends. I used to go to shows like this with bunches of chicks on my arms. IT was good times, and I'll always miss 'em.
WOW!!! amazing to hear The Guess Who in a way i've never before... thanks for posting!
That great voice anchored the band. Without it, no Guess Who.
Absolutely 💯
I agree Paul. Another way to put it, Without it, Guess What ??
No, but we then got Bachman-Turner Overdrive and they were welcome in my music library.
I was born in 1984 and I think Burton Cummings is GOD!
@SlipKid84 I think he was just saying that this era was way before he was born, but he still loves it.
the great fantastic band in this fragile world!!!!!
Amazing!
Will we ever see this kind of incredible music again ?
No
Nope
Never!
life long music fan here saw all the great 70’s bands, but i have to say every generation has its great music. i also saw great punk shows in the 80’s, rap sows in the 90’s…is all great when made from the urgency of youth. check out The Warning or Starcrawler. so yes we will se music this good and already have if you look for it.
Nope. Not ever........NEVER.!!!!!!!
WOW! can believe this show is finally on you-tube. i saw this in 1973 in my room with my 10 inch B&W t.v. with my friends. in thought it was there best live show. saw them a year later in Miami.great memory! thanks so much for posting.
robert libonati glad you like it. I had watched it on a 25 inch color RCA tv.
Still waiting to find their Midnight Special from 1973, they hosted, I remember the Spencer Davis Group was on that episode.
@@secordman They have T. Rex and Grand Funk up from that year.
Burton Cummings.....Pianist, guitarist and flute player.......The real talent in this band.
Yes, organ, sax, and harmonica also. I remember back then a local DJ would call the band, "Burton Cummings and The Guess Who".
What about Randy Bachman
@@Richvids48 I loved Randy. He probably held them together with his sanity. They were together unstoppable
they were really
great
So cool, been waiting 45 years to see Burt&Kurt in concert with my favourite line up in concert on film. At 26 Burton had monster pipes and awesome vocal tone. Thank so much,
I agree,i`m still waiting to see TGW live in concert on Don Kirshners rock concert!,perhaps someone can post that concert if available.
@@rjlibonati Perhaps at some point I'll see about putting it up. I might have a good quality digital copy somewhere, or at least as good quality as they come.
Were TGW even on Don Kirchner's Rock Concert?
Wow! Dreamt about this band 2 nights ago. No particular songs, just the band and their vibe. Want to "Bless them all" for making me LIVE back then, (when I didn't want to.) Thanks, guys. Blessings.
Concert at the ARENA in 1973, first concert for this young guy! Great concert!
Huge Hockey 🏒 fans From Winnipeg, they are the most Loyal fans would love to go to a game there someday
Kurt winters guitar solo on pain train live at the paramount....
Incredible
Very Indeed!!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yes it is
I wholeheartedly agree. The whole song is tremendous!
With the latter, Randy had the rare accomplishment of recording an American chart-topper for two different Canadian bands; the other being "American Woman" while he was in The Guess Who.[citation needed]
The band remained on the charts through the mid-1970s with their next two albums, Four Wheel Drive and Head On.
🙏😇🎩...Wow, I'm blown!! You're too good to tell us the history of this great band from start to where it is now!! Too great to hear and read it brother man! One of the best recollection of band's history I've ever heard!! Thanks a million man!⚘💐🙏...Jun jjKeepz Riyadh Saudi Arabia (www.smule.com/jjkeepz)

I remember seeing this when it aired! All these years I thought I imagined Burton Cummings in a Bobby Orr jersey!
I remember seeing it live as well! Probably because of the hockey sweaters. Terry Kath of Chicago used to wear an old Chicago Cougars (WHA) sweater on stage, and the Procol Harum guitarist who followed Robin Trower used to wear the Buffalo Sabres.
Why not a HABS or LEAFS jersey?? Oh my!
@@redhen6323 Bobby Orr is Canadian - went to the Bruins after starting with the Oshawa Generals in Canada. That was likely Burton's motivation behind the Boston jersey.
@Scotland1908 Bobby is the greatest hockey player ever.
Randy Bachman was gone by the time I saw them in concert. They were awesome.
One of the most mesmerizing performances by any lead singer anywhere, EVER
🎉Burton Cummings a living legend! And so are the guess who!
