You inspired me to start sewing. In the last month I’ve made 4 bags, 2 skirts, a dress and a pair of pants!
That's A-Mazing, Nicole!!! You're killing it. Keep at it!! :D
I am so crazy about your Love Note sweater I can't even! Cropped *and* burgundy?! Aaaah!!
Ahh! I could totally see you in a Love Note. Dooo eeeeet!!!
That jumper 🥰 Love Note is now bookmarked and on my list. I will be making mine longer also. Love your video and you have inspired me to start sewing for myself 🥰
You should host a KAL where the selfish knitters make a Mazzy, and the unselfish ones knit Dennis a sweater, ha.
Dina Bierwirth love this idea.
@@BraidAndTinker , hahaha! Ingenious!!!vDennis could have his own collection of sweaters.
I decided for the new year that I should knit the cardigans to replace the store bought ones that I wear all the time. I finished a navy blue Portage by Melissa Schaschwary and am finishing a black Eyelet Cardigan by Wendy Bernard. I’m so happy to have these sweaters knit by me in my wardrobe.
thank you for a lovely episode!
Just love that sweater pattern and your beautiful yarn! Can’t wait till you have more yarn!
Yes I am totally in for that. I have just bought a pattern and am going to use up some yarn and knit a plain sweater which I have none of.
I’m in the process of making hand knit versions of my favourite store bought sweaters. I totally need the Mazzy cardigan. I’m totally in for a MAL. Six months is a good chunk of time
Looking forward to participating! As always, love your work
That knit and sew uniform......yes..... I need that in my life. I would love to hear more about that
Yes to the practiKAL! I'm wanting to make myself some practical clothing for just living life.
Your Love Note sweater is gorgeous! And inspiring! And enabling! Might you dye kits?🙏🏼
I love the moody colors you pick for the love note.
Always a pleasure to spend time with you!! The colourway of your Love Note is spectacular!!! Congratulations!! Btw did you know that Knit City will have a Montreal edition in March!?!? Hint hint!! Struggling to get enough mojo for another sweater for hubby myself!!
The practical sounds great. But I guess with Christmas coming 3month could be a bit short. And are you talking about garments only for the Kal? What's your definition of practical? I think skirts can be practical others would not agree. Have a great weekend
I'm currently knitting Goth Kitty socks too! 😃
Sock twinsies!! 😻🖤
Thank you for the tutorial on the brumby skirt. When will you have part 2 up. I’m having problems with the pockets. Thank you again.
Hoping to publish tomorrow!! Thanks so much for your patience, Cindy. 💖
Well I'm not a celebrity like Amber Butchart, but I am a historical costume technician, and have had my fair share of antique bodices follow me home, so I'll give you my dating guess which you can take or leave. ;) Victoria died in 1901, and I'd say your bodice is from right around then (c. 1900-1902ish would be my guess). I'm basing this on the fact that it looks like it has that fullness in the front (the "pigeon front" look), the high collar, the yoke, and the sleeves that look like they get fuller at the elbow, and then are not full length to the wrist. I don't know if UA-cam comments allow linking, so I'll suggest you google "July 1902 Delineator." And then if you really want to go down a rabbit hole, google "Delineator fashion plate," because I think you might really enjoy the fashion illustrations from that particular publication!
I’m in. I’m challenging myself to make as many things I can just to build my speed and endurance. As far as time goes? However long, I’m down with whatever. And you are totally enabling me to do everything (thanking you)
But... if I could just learn how to use my sewing machine... I love this podcast and dig the Victorian Bodice - $45? Total Win! Have you watched “a stitch in time” So good! 🖤
YASSS! I love A Stitch In Time ... and all Amber Butchart does. 😻 So glad you're down for the KAL, Janet!! If I've enabled just one person, my job is done 😂
I’m totally in I pretty much only make practical stuff anyway
I tried to subscribe to your newsletter a few times but I still haven't received one.
Hey Kristin! I always love your channel. The first time I came across your yarn was at a trunk show at Do Ewe Knit. Would you ever do another trunk show again (so hoping so!!!)?
You totally inspired me to try sewing and the timing was perfect too! I've been on a super long break from knitting (damn you carpal tunnel!) and it made me absolutely miserable 😭 I've always enjoyed your sewing segments and my husband suggested I try sewing. I am taking it slow (my doctor doesn't approve of my new hobby 🙄) but I feel much better about missing out on all the knitting (plus sewing is a lot more compatible with Georgia summers, 94F today 🥵).
Ugh! I'm so sorry to hear about your carpal tunnel, KK. So glad sewing is coming to the rescue!! It's definitely a lot more forgiving on the hands! 💖
Try acpuncture it helps I had repetitive strain and it cleared it, now I mix my knitting styles like left hand two rows right hand two rows . It’s horrible to not be able to do what you love. Yea carpal tunnel is severe.
Do you wear the Stone Cutter?
❤️
Beautiful bodice!!
Tell us more about the sweatshirt! My husband has hinted about a sweater for years but he is sooo picky over clothing that I can't figure out what yarn/pattern would possibly work. But an awesome sweatshirt? Now THAT has possibilities!
I think a Hubby Sweatshirt should be the Buy-in for the PractiKal. Ha!
@@jenniferbarr140 Totally! 😂 My hubs is the same ... I figure the simpler the pattern, with neutral colors, the better.
I really love that Victoria bodice. A gem of History now in your hands Kristen. Do you plan to have it dry clean?
It's like tangible time-travel, right!? I don't think I will ever be washing it/wearing it. I'm going to look into either possibly framing it or at the very least finding a special storage box (i.e. something akin to preserving a wedding dress)
I'd love to really get into sewing but don't wear skirts or dresses, if there are any easy tops you could choose for the next sew along that would be awesome! Or trousers - are they really that difficult to make?
Absolutely! Check out the Ogden Cami by True Bias, the Scout Tee by Grainline Studio, and the Maya Top by Marilla Walker - all super simple, beginner-friendly top patterns :D
What needles are you using for your cardigan? It may just be the lighting but they look pink?
Your love notes is gorgeous, btw, and I really love the way you handled the situation with your sock pattern, I saw the original FB post from the other designer and although it would have been awesome to knit those gorgeous socks, I think you did the only thing you could have done. Look forward to seeing the progress on that cardigan :) I'm eyeing up a similar one, the Pure Comfort cardigan by Andrea Yetman.
Thank you! For the cardigan, I'm using Susan Bates needles and they ARE pinky-purple! 😄I bought them on the Cape because I forgot to pack the smaller needle size for the ribbing.
6 months, because of all the Holidays coming up! Make a long
When so many get itchy noses from Mohair, why do they keep using it?
For some reason, it only itches when I record! 😂
And for man is there nothing?
