DAMN, girl! That dress looks amazing on you! The style is so casually chic, I looooove it.
Thanks Ashleigh! :D
Very cool video. Its interesting to see where your family is from. I haven't done that yet but my daughter did. Very cool. Nice to be back watching you again. Happy Anniversary too!!
I love the colors you’ve used in your Soldotna Sweater.
Thanks so much, Chere'!
Kitty glitter blanket is super cute.
My goodness the colors of Soldotna Crop are just gorgeous together. I never thought of making it, that is, until I saw yours! So beautiful. As I am slowly going on my Comfort Fade Cardi - it is definitely my Uncomfort Knit (since I'm very new to knitting), but it's going along. Love that I finally got some Voolenvine yarn in my stash and passed the info on to my Newbies Knitting group.
Love the colors of your Soldotna. Thanks for the knitting at the beach tips. I am going to the beach soon and will definitely be taking my knitting and crocheting with me. Congrats on your 8th year anniversary!! 💜
Happy Anniversary Kristen! Congratulations on the sewing vlog as well! Love the dress and all the projects that you’re making.
I love the dress, tissue paper underneath is an amazing, I have sewn for 30 + years i have never thought of that, using washers from the hardware store is great for weights( you can get various sizes. Your quilt turned out amazing.
Thanks Rave! Ah, YES! Totally forgot to mention washers. My friend even decorates hers with washi tape! You'd never think they were from a hardware store.
@@Voolenvine wash tape that's a great idea, I got some as a gift and had no idea what to do with it... lol another rabbit hole to dive down,,had a local lady selling her fabric at $2.00 a meter omg yes all these darn rabbit hole...
holy crow the dress with kimono sleeves is amazing!
I did the DNA thing too. I have. over the years, did my family ancestry, so I knew a lot before hand. It is interesting to see the breakdown though. The new shawl is pretty. And so are your other shawl and sweater. Pretty color choices. I'm so happy you are still vlogging. So many of the knitting vloggers have quit. You inspire us to new projects and yarn and I thank you for that! Happy Aniversary!
My mannekin is called 'Myrtle' not sure why.. the pattern you are wearing would look lovely in cheesecloth ( I know..but I'm from the 60's) or a beautiful silk. So fabulous what you are finding in your family history. Love your videos xx
Thank you, Salome! I was thinking of making one in double gauze - which I think is similar to cheesecloth.
Genealogy is such a fascinating hobby. I've been working on my family tree for about 14 years off and on. My situation is similar, in that my paternal grandfather was not in the picture and no one wants to talk about him. And the dad's family is just a whole nother nest of vipers...😂 It's so wonderful when you find a cousin who has the answers you are looking for and it's willing to share. I may do the dna test at some point.
"Nest of Vipers" awesome description!! 😂 the test results DID connect me to a handful of "highly potential" first cousin relatives. I'm still not sure if/when I want to reach out. But definitely a good option for getting answers!
Ugh I so empathise with both of your situations! I'm so intrigued to do the DNA test but also paranoid I'll end up opening up a can of worms that might be best clamped shut! (Beautiful projects as always Kristin, I love the dress :D )
For those of you who have done or are wanting to do the DNA test from Ancestry, please, please, please put your family tree on Ancestry, even if it is just two or three generations. Its the only way anyone can see how you are related and you can get so many more relatives added to your list thru a simple tree. Too many people do the DNA test without adding a family tree and then those looking for others are blocked. Thanks!! And Kristen, I enjoy your podcasts.
Love your podcasts!
Uh oh....I just started the Birds of a Feather shawl. However, I'm looking for something somewhat mindless while I'm on vacation. Your shawl is beautiful by the way.
I really love that lipstick.
Thank you! It's Kat Von D's "Vampira" ... I just applied chapstick before, so it didn't go on so dark ;-)
Welcome to the addiction known as genealogy! I’ve been doing it for years. Check out familysearch.org too - it’s the free site from the LDS church.
Your holiday sounds wonderful. Would you mind sharing which hotel you stayed at?
I’m thinking about starting a birds of a feather.... I was given a ton of this vibrant pink mohair lol
Hey, when life hands you pink mohair ... 😂
Voolenvine lol I know but it turns out it’s a fingering weight mohair lol so even with as much as I have it’s not enough so it’s going to become hats lol
Where can I purchase Voolenvine Nouveau yarn?
Are you still in Raverly?
A lovely episode. Just thinking...if you’re knitting with fingering weight, instead of dk, shouldn’t you go up needle sizes, to get a bigger Odyssey shawl and closer to the gauge of the pattern ? I might be wrong, of course ;-) I love your Soldotna crop-great colours, and I’m definitely thinking about longer sleeves, when I get around to knitting this.
Thanks, Tam! I could go up a needle size to get gauge, but since I'm using fingering weight, it would knit up quite loosely. The shawl is already pretty large, so I don't mind if it's a bit smaller in size ;)
That makes total sense ;-)
How long have you been working on your WIPs?
I cast on Birds Of a Feather back in February! 😂 Soldotna, just last month.
Hi Kristen! Did you happen to post the link for the stitch in the ditch tool you used to help get the straight line? I checked out the links posted, but didn't see it.
Ah, sorry about that ... here it is: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003D83A44/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 FYI: Be sure to get the one designed for your machine. Janome makes one for a top-loading and front-loading bobbin. It will say in the Amazon description (this one is front-loading) ;-)
Love all your projects! Happy Anniversary to you both! 💜 I have not tired colorwork yet, any suggestions of a pattern to start on?
Thanks, Jeni! I'd give Dianna Walla's Hoopla hat a go. I made one this year out of Worsted weight yarn. I think would make for a fun, quick first colorwork project. :)
Voolenvine thanks Kristin!
