- We got out hands on a Benelli TRK502 X and were so impressed by it, we did a review. The Engine sound and height make this bike a great buy.

Nice video m8. I am thinking about Benelli TRK 802 in the 2 years time. BTW when I was young I used to have JAWA 350 Panelka, watch the comrecial.
Good review. I bought a 502 (Non X) version as I wanted to get back into riding bikes again. The motivation for the Non X version was that you can get a larger pannier on the side as the exhaust goes under the foot peg on that side. The X version needs an adapted smaller pannier to allow a cut out for the exhaust. Mine is a joy to ride and plenty quick enough for commuting and actually touring at a speed where you can see the scenery. (As opposed to kind of touring where you have your nose pinned to the tank! ) I'd say Benelli is a marque we are going to be seeing in numbers out there!
Hi Greg - you will not be disappointed. I have the X and the bracket I have for the SHAD panniers has cleared the exhaust and allowed me to fit the full sized panniers. Have serious fun, be great to see a photo of your new ride.
@@CavemanReviewsUK Hi, I have the Givi aluminium narrow luggage. I'm a little limited on just how far my own luggage sticks out as I live on Guernsey in the Channel Islands and some of our roads are less than 6 feet wide! Passing an oncoming pedestrian or another motorcycle can sometimes be a struggle. (Does my rear look big with these on has a whole new meaning here!)
@@speedfinder1 I am thinking a ride off around Guernsey might be on the cards! Just need to find a friendly and unique hotel for me to justify the journey..
@@CavemanReviewsUK It would be nice to see you when the Covid thing is over and there is a cross channel ferry service again. Currently we are a bit like the inmates of Alkatraz Island in the USA. (32 square miles to play with and no more!)
Well done! Have the same bike, and I feel the same way about it. It may be the perfect all around, real-world, bike for the riding that the vast majority of people do.
Glad that is what came across in the review - I still love my bike (just about to get it serviced). It still gives me a smile from ear to ear every time I manage to get out on a long(er) ride.
I have heard that Benelli will launch the TRK 802 X next year or the year after for Europe do you have any info? Thnx.
Hi there thanks for sharing this video. I am interested in buying this bike. Is it really so top heavy as they say?
Thanks for the comment. Because it is a tall bike, I can understand why people can feel a little nervous. I have found that it is well balanced and does not seem top heavy at all. I can highly recommend test riding one, it is different to many other bikes.
Not sure about Benelli offerings in the UK, but in the USA the X model comes with spoked rims and a 19" front wheel, whereas the non-X model is fitted with alloy wheels of the same size.
There is already a new release TRK since I completed this review, so I would not be surprised if things have changed. Regardless of which these bikes are awesome, for the cost per smile and the sheer fun, it is a fantastic machine.
I am considering a Benelli, among others also the TRK. But I am already struggling with my current Yamaha XT 600 E (after a seat mod, I can flatfoot it, but it feels rather unstable). I am 1,76 m, so I do not think either the X or the standard TRK are an option. I most likely will stick with the Leoncino 500, which is also a nice bike.
I think the X might be a bit too tall for you.. it is just about my limit at 6'1" do not rule out the ten until you have sat/rode one. It is an amazing bike. Another reader if my blog said he traded in his old Honda and loves his trk502.. let me know what you go for! Have fun..
Okay, test ride done. On the standard Leoncino 500.I struggled quite a bit with the different setup - much lower than my XT, harder, clutch lever quite awful. Also that you hardly have to use it (probably changed gears far too often). A somehow really loong way from 1st via neutral to 2nd. But I quite likes the knee angle. Well, I also had to sit on a TRK. Both of my feet hung about 5 cm above the ground. Consequently, I got a red lion baby (Leoncino). Levers will be exchanged from my dealer against adjustable ones (red-black). For anything else, I want to take a little bit of time (screen, luggage, etc.). Hope the little lion and I will become good friends after some time. What I will do over the winter: level out the seat so that it becomes flat and install a gel layer from equestrian sports (these are much thinner than the ones for motorbikes, I already have that on the XT, the seat is far less squishy than with a bike gel pad).
You should have reviewed the 2020 model.
It had not been released when I bought this one. The new one looks amazing however, and as it being the same bike underneath I bet it rides great as well.
Hi mate I was thinking off buying one off these bikes but I want to know are they immobilised can you let me know as I can’t find this any where
Hi, these are great bikes, but to answer your question, I do not believe they have an immobilser. I have thatcham locks and ground anchors.
Hi how is the reliability? Any issues? Do you think this bike durable enough to do 100 miles a day, every day?
Mine has been brilliant (I was doing about 80 miles a day and it lapped it up). Just like everything, providing you look after it, check and oil things as it is needed, I am sure it is more than capable of 100 miles a day.
Have you tried it on a long drive? How was the riding experience? Do you think I'll be able to handle this bike with my 5'7" height?
It is a tall bike. The TRK502 is essentially the same bike but it is lower. I would suggest getting to a dealer and sitting on them both. I went for the X for the few extra bits, but it was more expensive. Chat to Nick at Spa Motorcycles in Cheltenham. - 01242 583031 (tell him the Caveman told you to call). He rode my bike and is shorter than me. Ultimately it is an amazing bike, the whole Benelli range is actually very exciting. Let me know what you went for!
@@CavemanReviewsUK ok bro I'll let you know once I'm decided, I'm planning to get one once this pandemic has ended.
@@rhovemleiraldpacaldo1882 I don't think you will regret it - I can't wait to get back out on mine! Just bought a full luggage set for it - review will follow shortly!
Can i ask how tall you are, because i am 6.3 and 22 stones. Will it fit me as a tall man?
This is a tall bike and if you're 3 inches taller than me I reckon you'll handle this with ease. I hope you added an extra 0 by mistake as 130 stone I'd be surprised any bike would fit..😁 it is such a great bike, I rode loads and this one really did tick all the boxes on spec and handling. Hope you get to ride one as you'll understand why I love mine so much.
@@CavemanReviewsUK sorry I was too fast writing, I didn't see my mistake. I mean 22 stones.
But thanks so much for your fast response, I can't wait get that motorcycle. It look amazing, and it in my budget. Here in Denmark it cost from new 6.000 pound, from new that's diffenly the cheapest bike you can get.
Well worth the money and should be on everyone's test ride list. It is a serious contender even the benelli brand deserves some respect. Have fun and let me know if you go for it, would love to see the photos and what colour you go for.
And dont forget, for a 500cc with 47hp it's a 235kg bike when fully loaded
It is very agile and still has a great pick up for its size and weight..
Tell me the weight pls....
The official weight is 213kg. On a personal note, it feels incredibly light when riding (corning and handling) but it does feel a little heavy when stopped (lights and junctions). This is probably because of the height. For me the bike is still amazing, as I don't often need to put my foot down.
Stock exahaust?
This is a standard exhaust on a 502X, it is stainless steel. The 502 exhaust (non X) has the stubby one under the engine. They do have different exhaust notes.
@@CavemanReviewsUK thank you
@@CavemanReviewsUK trk 502 VS 502X=?
@@muhammedenesylmaz3657 yes there are 2 models. The TRK502 and the TRK502 X. Essentially they are the same bike but with some additions to the X model (as described in the video) and on my blog, cavemanreviews.co.uk/benelli-trk502x/
How tall are you? Cm pls
Hi, I'm about 185cm.. hope that helps.
You have totally forgotten the different wheels and sizes.
Good point, I did not want to overload everyone - that said the X has larger spoke wheels, and the road version has smaller alloy hubs.
What's this bike like on the motorway.
Holds it own. 80 MPH all day long (if you want) without breaking a sweat. Big enough to be seen and more than comfortable, mine just laps up the miles.
@@CavemanReviewsUK would you think it would be better than the Honda cb 500x.
@@paulcummins5231 I think it is an amazing piece of kit. Honda's are good as well, but for the price, kit and build the benelli brand deserves some real respect. Personally I would go Benelli.
@@CavemanReviewsUK how about the engine is it capable of doing 30.000 plus miles.
@@paulcummins5231 all I can say is that my bike feels strong and is going well.. I plan on maintaining it and looking after it and I have confidence that mine will be able to go beyond the 30k miles..
