- changes are sometimes for the worse but mostly for the better, changing bikes is exciting, and I've changed the VTR1000 in for a Benelli TRK502 adventure bike.
not sure how 'adventure' it is but I'm excited to see what this new style of bike can offer me.

The engine is so smooth it's hard to believe its a twin. It lacks a bit of torque at times but I have to remember it is only 500 cc 👍

Congratulations on your new bike and it's good to hear you are so enthused about it 👍😀 Looks wise it doesn't do it for me but then neither did the KTM 890 Adventure R which I now own. How it makes you feel is more important and it's certainly very well spec'd. You chose the ideal spot to display it too us, I'm sure many a biker/Moto café would love those old pumps. I look forwards to yourself, your wife and MJ's adventures 😮👍😀

Ahh man, it's definitely a different direction for the channel, but one that I'm glad you're happy with.
I've the Benelli 502C which I assume is the same engine used in this TRK, I was mighty impressed with it, had enough get and go to keep the rider moving, will be interesting to see how this bike holds up.
Some high praise comparing elements to the Ducati Monster.
£3k is really not bad at all really.
I bet the other half is happy with the purchase, I hope it serves you both well for touring.
I still miss the VTR, but I'm excited to see the touring videos that are now possible because of this bike.
Already done a camping trip down to Bognor Regis on the weekend, it's not fast but it's fun and comfortable which will hopefully do the two of us for a bit of touring 😁👍

🤣 not sure I'm at that level yet, and the dealer I bought it from fitted new road tyres but you never know, if I fit some 50/50 tyres next it's a definite possibility 👍

Wow, a Benelli TRK502, I certainly wasn't expecting that. In fact I hadn't even heard of it and had to do a google. It certainly looks comfy though the styling is something of an acquired taste. Anyway, I look forward to your future vids.👍
Thanks bud, yeah I think they've tried to take the best bits from the multistrada and GS, and actually haven't done too bad a job of you like that style of bike. It'll never touch either of them but it does a good job of pretending 🤣

The TRK is still made in Italy,although it uses many Chinese parts that are shipped over, and it's Italys biggest selling bike... Still!
They are well speced and to my knowledge have a very good reliability record.
It's hard to get your head round when your sat on it, that this is a bike with all it has for under £6000. It rides and feels more like a 14k bike.

@@stevedriver1376 Na its fine rock it mate no problem. I could be wrong but I'm 98% sure from my deep research that these bikes and still put together in Italy using some parts shipped from China. Its one of the only bikes left in the Bennelli range still made in Italy.
WOW! How cool is that! Great choice. Best selling bike in Italy for a couple of year on the trot... may still be. To add to your touring list may I add the Creiff Cloverleaf and the NC500 with added Cairngorms. Looking forward to hopefully seeing the bike in the flesh sometime. Also, I was on the Mendips on the same day you shot this. Based on the cycling event that was going on, we must have missed each other by minutes.
I saw loads of cyclists, I obviously picked the wrong day to get some open road 🤣🤣

@@wsmv Yeah there was some sort of event going on, don't know what. Where you turned right towards Yoxter I went straight on past Castle of Comforts and straight over the crossroads. There was a motorcycle lead out and three people with stop signs closing the roads temporarily. It all looked very well marshalled and professional. Motocamping! Amazing. Just my cuppa tea. I hope you are dodging the 'weather', it's been pouring with rain on an off here.

I remember seeing one in the flesh not long after it came out. Was unsure about it at the time. That was the when I had the old CB. Be interesting to ride one back to back with a CB. 47bhp parrel twin is a rock steady engine for touring
Mate I've just done a 500 mile motocamping weekend on it (yes I know me camping 🤣) and it didnt miss a beat.
I was out with GS's and tigers and it was only on faster overtaking maneuvers that you could see what it's missing. Everything else it did with ease 👍
Happy New Bike Day, like the looks of the TRK, do not know much about the brand or model, great price for a lot of bike. Most of the bikes i like are either too heavy or too tall and most probably the trk is one of them, although the price is very affordable. Enjoy the touring on the new bike in your life

4:52 I too was, and am surprised at how comfortable my ADV bike is in the corners, even now, with aggressive tires, I feel like I can take the twistys extremely well!!

@@wsmv mine is about 450 pounds dry weight, but it feels solidly planted on pavement!!
Bought one in 2019 new paid 5500 for it. Over thirty thousand miles on it and it hasn’t missed a beat.gone through 4 winters and build quality has held up.
That's awesome Melvin, I've been really impressed so far with every aspect of the bike (except the gearing which I've altered with a smaller rear sprocket).
Got a trip to Belgium coming up which I'm buzzing for and have no doubts the bike will be the star of the show 👍

I can understand, it's a heavy bike which surprised me. Heavier than my sportster and weight is high up that makes it a handful if it catches you off balance.

I just don't think I would feel overly confident in trying to pass anything on a Motorway, Two up, and luggage fullly loaded on One of these! I guess realistically it owes you £4500 taking the VTR into account, so lot of bike for the money maybe, but SHAD luggage is damn ugly, would be nice with a colour coded set, but for the money, to pootle around the UK over a long weekend.... yeah why not 😁
That's what I've got it for, gonna a lot more practical than the sportster for touring and the luggage does what it's supposed to, I think it looks better than most of the silver ammo crates that people have fitted just because they think it makes them look like ewan macgregor when they pop to the shops for a paper 🤣

I have an old mobile phone with Google maps, I bought a cheap sim card that means the maps are live time while I ride, the phone is water proof but won't charge if there is water in the port so does cause a few problems on long journeys in heavy rain 😞

When Benelli was still 100% Italian they made some cracking machines like the Sei 6 cylinder range.
As ER says they are still designed and made in Italy despite being Chinese owned. A bit like Moto Morini and Pirelli.
Yeah I love the original Benellis, absolute stunners.
I know the development isn't what it used to be but if the bikes coming out are this good with Chinese backing then I'm happy.

I reviewed the 502c, same engine, didn't review the 502x, as I didn't feel comfortable on the bike.
It was too tall and felt very heavy to me. As you're a bit taller, obviosly it suits you better.

While i personally dont like that style of bike, i can say i enjoy watching people enjoy an aspect of riding i dont partake in. I do like most of the benelli lineup, having good looking bikes without paying through the nose is a win win.
You are 100% right, I know most of their line up is a copy of a premium brand but the fact someone can buy a nearly new bike for such little money that looks so good is a win for me 👍
Hi been watching your channel and think its great wanted to ask how's the benelli. sat on one at nec bike shop and thought thats comfortable for my 6.4 frame. have you had issues with the bike since owning it i ride a triumph America and a xjr1300. and am thinking of test riding one
I would serious recommend giving it a test Matthew, I'm 6ft and find the trk really comfortable over distance (done Belgium and Ireland 2up both over a weekend.
I had the givi touring screen fitted and could ride at 75mph on the motorway with my visor up.
Being 6'4" it would definitely need testing just to make sure the leg bend ist too tight for you, but I had no issues.

Hiya, can you share how you charge your phone on the go and in the rain please. I have exact same model and just plug into the USB charger but obviously not in wet weather!
Pretty much the same Craig, if its raining I closed the cover and just let it ride the battery of the phone. The trouble is once water gets into the phone charge port it won't take any power until its dry, so just turn the screen on and off when you need to if you're doing a long trip.
I've seen some people keep it plugged in but use blutak to cover the port and seal the lead but I haven't done that 👍

I may have to alter the sprockets though to lower the motorway cruising RPM 👍
I thought about that. I brought him new 5 months ago and I've done 4500k on him. I've decided to leave him stock. I have added a atlas throttle lock which is brilliant. I changed the sprocket on my classic 500 and lost the torque in top gear but less stress at 100k. I'm thinking what would I gain from doing that to the TRK. At the moment on the mountain passes I don't have to go hunting for gears but I probably would If I changed the sprocket. Just a thought m8
@iantownsend17 I am nervous about how the different reat sprocket will effect the torque, but I've noticed at 60-70 mph it coming to the end of the power band, so in theory lowering the rev slightly at that speed will offer me slightly more overtaking potential if I need it. Who knows, but I will let you know.

Hi, I think I answered this in a different comment you sent over, I can get 65mpg on a sedate motorway run 2up, but a genuine 55mpg average. Its really good on fuel and the tank has a 250 - 300 mile range 👍
How is it with two up and luggage with overtaking and everyday use i like the looks and drove onw just a bit underpowered maybe i need some timw more on the bikw
Luggage and 2up isn't a problem as long as you're not in a rush, happily sit at 65mph.
I think it will feel underpowered if you're dropping down in cc's but actually it's quite capable.
I'll get a decent review done when I've ridden a few more miles 👍

Just sold my TRK502 on a 21 plate with 3200 miles led spot lamps and is up for sale at about 3650 quid, traded it in on a new TRK702X, loved the 502 but found at higher speeds reved too high, the 702 a vast improvement with 70 hp, it also came with full luggage system FOC as a launch offer. Hope you enjoy the 502 as much as i did but power to weight let it down a bit.
I am loving the 502 Adrian, I know what you mean about the high revs at cruising speed, I changed the rear sprocket which has helped.
We've already been 2up fully loaded to Belgium and the west coast of Ireland and its been brilliant (apart from planning overtakes well in advance) but I'd be really interested your opinions on the 702 as currently I'm torn between trading up next year to the 702 or an older multistrada?
@@wsmv I loved mine to brilliant touring and comfort was excellent, I only picked my 702 up on the 21 of October and have only managed about 150 miles so far due to the lovely weather 😂, I would say for the price the X being 7099 including OTR absolute bargain, tft screen, phone calls connected and the app for it has google maps displayed on full screen for navigation but not as good as my Garmin XT, the new 702 has is brilliant so far would highly recommend one, I changed the 502 because we are doing a tour of the Swiss Alps next year which will take about 15 days round trip, I would say save your money and order a new 702, next stock due in March next year as all the bikes have been sold, I was told by the dealer I got the last one.
By the way I’m based in Mark just down the road from W-S-M and was a regular at Scallys run by Dawn!

They told me March next year when contacted them, got mine from Poole Moto, yep Scallys long gone, but I left Uk 08 and returned back in July after 15 yrs in NZ how things have changed since I’ve been away, if you would like to see it let me know

Brilliant, rode back from Belgium at night last night and the illumination is excellent, I don't have the later model which has back-lit controls though unfortunately 👍

Made in China? Lol. The majority of the parts are made by the largest industrial manufacturer in China. Their factory is the size of a city. They own the Benelli name, the parts are shipped to Italy where the bikes are assembled in Pegaso. It's designed by Benelli. They are fantastic bikes, and a lot of owners have downsized from 1000+cc bikes. Agree about the handling, best I have owned, and super comfy. EBC brakes finish it off. Very economical, cheap parts, brilliant weather protection, I can't fault mine.
I have no complaints, and the comments about it being Chinese owned were more to say we should open our eyes to these lower priced alternatives.
The bigger benellis are all quality controlled in Italy and the finished product is superb. The small benellis are not so lucky and get quality controlled by steve wonder in Beijing ☹️

Unfortunately in Italy they don't use the letter J so it'll be hard to come up with an Italian name using MJ... But you could go Ali-G and call it "My Julie" 😂😂😂

Yeah I'm as interested on how it copes as you are, the power is very similar to the harley just the torque delivery is clearly not the same. Its really smooth though however I may change the sprockets to lower the rpm at motorway speed 👍

Thanks LJR, I've been really impressed so far, been motocamping this weekend and already covered 500 miles.
It's a superb ride, you can see where its lacking but you really have to look hard.
I think my daughter will be doing her test in the next 12 months and I'd ne happy if she wanted a Benelli 502 (Ducati Diavel copy) because the build quality is so much better than I expected.
I know what you mean about the jap cr4p comments, it pure jealousy because the make things better and cheaper than the bike they are emulating and that scares them.
Chinese bikes are nearly there I think and a fraction of the price of the European bikes that copy 👍
@@wsmv sounds like a great buy and bike, for that price you really can't go wrong. It'll have better speed for motorway than a himi and the set up is already there. The add ons must add up to half the bikes value. Definitely do a couple of review videos. My vulcan s one is my most watched and I have no idea what I'm doing. 🤣
As for voices, I don't find yours bad! I have in the past turned channels off for voices and I'm sure some would mine. 🤣 you tube and the world is big enough for us all.

After coming back from our Belgium trip we booked a trip to Ireland straight away because we had so much fun. 😁

Well let me say this been riding since the age of 6 years old ridden all sorts but now at 71 need a a bike that lets me be comfortable but still gives me a bit of fun had a G.S. what a rip off that was £120 per hour service charge parts costing a fortune !!!!One very very very very overrated bit of kit !! Do not listen to G.S. owners they are over paid individuals that tend to like the name and go by the up and down south west etc like film stars who probably not only had a film crew but a complete B.M.W. re build kit because if mine was anything to go by you will need one !!
This bike on the other hand be it Chinese or not has proven to be one of the best bikes I have ever had unless we are talking sports bikes that is ??? But that's a little on the side line these bikes are a great great buy at the price if you do not get what I am saying at least go and have a look you will then see what I and most say ?????????

I totally agree, as soon as I rode the trk it surprised me with the quality of the build and the ride, in fact the suspension and handling was so confidence inspiring it was the best setup I've ridden of any bike except the ducati monster, and it comes a very close second.
People who reject these bikes purely because they are "chinese" are truly missing out 👍
Whats a premium bike please tell me ??? Well I can telly you its a bike with the same bits but a badge that says I am premium I am an expensive bike made by the same folk but I have the badge just like the old Skoda days and now Volkswagen but probably better made than Volkswagen but what do the idiots buy yep Volkswagen or B.M.W. or Porsche just by the name Honda make a great bike but is it worth 8/9/10 K more probably not ???
I have a harley sportster and a ducati multistrada, both are less reliable than a Honda or yamaha, but both also have the premium bike tax on everything that has the name on it 😔
No such problem with the benelli, which is one of the best bikes I've ever owned. The only reason I changed it to the multistrada is because I felt the 2up ride down to Italy and back might be a bit much for the little 500, but I miss the ease and quality of the trk every day 😢
