I have a 95 Cagiva Elefant and it’s no understatement to say it was years ahead of the ADV bike curve. One of the best handling big trail bikes out there. I was super happy to see Ducati finally pay proper homage to it with a bike that exceeds expectations. I’ll be picking one up second hand as soon as the local crowd of old guys get tired of watching theirs sit in the garage.
Hard to say with this one. After spending a full day with it yesterday, I'm 100% sure that my other bikes are going to be the ones sitting in the garage while I ride the DX. That said, I think a lot of riders are going to find that it is too tall for them and sell it because they can't get confident with the reach to the ground. I saw the same thing happen with the Scrambler 1200 XEs. Eventually fully farkled bikes start popping up used with pretty low mileage and no dirt use and you can get a killer deal.
I had a Cagiva navigator (a gran canyon with the tl1000r engine), have ride that thing to splinters so mutch fun with a 100 bhp supermotart. The geometry of all elefant models 350 til 900 include the gran canyon and navigator is about the same. if the desert x is like that I sell my KTM 990 dakar edition.
Today sucked. The guy that was going to sell me a super sick rallied out 701 Enduro sold it out from under me... The funk that put me in was deep. The last 2.5min of this video washed the funk away. Thank you!
Ryan... you're topping the moto-theatrical class lately. Love that you're from my hometown and that one day... likely very soon, some high end movie mogul or factory relations guy is going to make you an offer you can't refuse and we will all benefit from even higher production values. Keep pumping it out... you're slayin' it.
I haven't touched a motorcycle in my entire life but I've watched every video on this channel. I feel like this channel encapsulates the positives of old school UA-cam - idea driven content.
I got my first motorcycle at 41. I had decided a man should not go to his grave having not ridden a motorcycle. That was June 2003. Now almost 20 years(???!!!!) and over 100,000KM, I would never not ride.
You released this video at *exactly* the same time I was taking ownership of mine at the dealership. Quite possibly the most fun bike I have ridden. I absolutely freaking love this thing.
Best bike video review ever. Love the camera angles, the off beat humour throughout, especially the ending. Ducati should pay you and use this as their promo.
This was good but the Bonneville review from a couple years ago is still # 1...Killing the KLR #2.....this one #3. Lets take a poll. Which one of the Fortnine videos is #1?
About to buy one after I tested one at the dealership last WE. Didn't even know Ducati even made those. Haven't had a bike since 2018 and was a bit aprehensive and scared to just crash it on the road. Didn't even ride it for 100m and was already dancing on the motorbike. It's a great machine, and I can't wait to ride it everywhere !
F9... every vids is a masterpiece, you deserve an award... I'm getting back on a motorbike this spring because of you, this kind of guilt is sooo heartwarming.
I'm not even remotely interested in taking any motorcycle off-road, adventure bikes just aren't my thing and yet those Fortnine videos are still a pleasure to watch. Amazing job again on the cinematography and story telling :D
I'm too afraid of destroying my luggage and scraping my fairings to do serious off-roading, but it sure is nice having an adventure bike to not be afraid of potholes and bottoming out. Plus, I find the riding position comfier than both sport bikes and cruisers, especially on longer trips.
I don't have or have ever owned a motorcycle. I can't ride a motorcycle. But in the past years watching your videos has made me appreciate motorcycles more and more. Thank you from a car guy.
I haven't ridden a motorcycle in 20 years. Never owned one but road my friend's Ninja 250 often. I'm a car guy, but I also like motorcycles, and anything with ICE. And Ryan here never fails to entertain me with his videos. The man is a legend when it comes to quality content. He's so brilliant at what he does. He's like the Jason Camissa of the motorcycle world. They put out the highest level stuff on YT.
I've been a car guy all my life. Apparently the first word I ever said was 'car'. However I have always looked at bikes and thought 'maybe one day'. That 'one day' was 2 weeks ago when I bought a triumph Street triple 675 and joined the dark side. I am 100% sold, this bike gives me something that no car ever could. I could try to put it into words but I don't think I'd ever be able properly explain it, so I won't bother. I think you should also join the dark side, you will be welcomed with open arms....
This is how a YT video should be made. The review, reviewer, photography, script, music, editing... everything on point. In fact, they used to make the video what the sponsor offers. This is impressive.
Best content creator on YT. I don't even ride anymore and still watch every single one of your videos and get depressed when they end knowing I have already seen all the old videos. Please don't change!
Not to take anything away from past videos, (I absolutely loved them) BUT this is the best video you’ve done thus far! A million times thank you! I appreciate you’re efforts so much!
Have been watchin you for years and No one i mean no one! can make me sit and watch a review without skipping it 10 seconds after 10 seconds until its over. 11/10 content as always! that ending was a MASTERPIECE!
I've never ridden a motorcycle and I still get excited every time a FortNine video shows up in my feed. This one was no exception, and did not disappoint.
You guys continue to put out the best vids. The “Canadian” humour is undeniable. If I’m ever back out west I’d love to meet Ryan just to shake his hand and thank him in person for all the great content over the years.
I rode a Desert X today, I was pretty happy with the ergonomics and the characteristics all around. One of the first bikes I've ridden off the showroom floor that the suspension felt even close to dialed in. Then I get to come home and watch this masterpiece!
You have to look where he lives, and the roads he has access to. He lives in heaven, in some respects. Look at that footage of Canada. It's just unreal beautiful. I live in WA state, and there are a lot of gravel roads, but it's so dry during the summer that it's not really exciting thinking about going into the woods much, so I explore all the paved roads. If I lived where he did, I'd also want a dirt focused bike. I'm not sure everyone has so much access to wilderness like that? I live in the country, but there's nothing like his footage, omg.
I want to buy all the new ADV bikes, because they are all so awesome. But the ultimate clincher is that none of the modern ADV bikes are geared for real world riding, they do not have an overdrive. Instead, they are geared like dirt bikes, despite American roadways being 80mph to 85mph as a standard. There should be a class action lawsuit against bikes like the Pan American Harley for not giving people a proper overdrive gear; it is engineering negligence, and it's intentional. The Pan America is geared the same as all the other bikes, like the Honda Transalp 750, which means the engine is literally screaming down the road at 80mph at 5,500 rpm. Without an overdrive, you cause twice the engine wear, your require twice the spark plugs, twice the oil changes, and burn significantly more fuel.
I was raised Catholic and so, I'm not allowed to "Like" this video and I have to pray 12 Our Father's and 5 Hail Mary's for leaving this comment. Worth it though.
I laughed with his well performed acting italian skills (hands gesture and cadence). At 0:33, "...when Ducati designers got here...they just...eeeeeehhhh FINITO! (finished! that's it!)". The last part of the video is a mix of latin and italian. Regarding the DesertX, in my opinion, the rear looks great only with the side tanks installed. Otherwise, something is missing there.
Before this video I already thought of you as the highest production quality motorcycle content channel by far. And now you just raised the bar a lot ... WELL DONE FORTNINE !!!
This channel is still THE best motorcycle channel. You guys have not only managed to make one great clip. You make every clip a movie, with humour, stats and lovely sarcasm. The Desert X? I just testrode one and I really love it. My wallet on the other hand....
Single track in snow without studs on a bike that big is 100x harder than it looks on video. Very nice riding. I cried when he did the BMW scene... We've all been there
Even though I don't ride my 800GS anymore, I can't bring myself to sell it. I keep it around for a friend to use a few times per year when we want to go moto-camping and his 1000RR is not the ideal bike.
Ducati captures something for me that no other brand could. My Hypermotard 1100S is the most fun bike I've ever owned, and I've owned a ton of bikes. It captures that balance between a wild animal and docile labrador and gives me a huge smile every time I hop on. I hate the dealership experience, but man are the bikes fun.
The H1100S is so much fun in the twisties and some do light off-road adventures with appropriate tires. Unlike post Audi ownership bikes the service manual is available and the desmo 2v are easy to work on. No need for dealership servicing. DIY and independents mechanic.
I can echo this completely. I bought a used Multistrada this spring and still smile, if not audibly chuckle, every time I ride it. Can't speak for the dealership experience as I have had no need yet (no plan to).
That godfather ending :D absolutely brilliant. I passed my A2 license after discovering your channel and watching your videos. One of the best youtube channels I've ever had the chance to watch
I have absolutely not intrest in a ducati desert X but I have to watch everything Ryan and the team put out because it's by far the best bike content on UA-cam 👌 Keep up the good work 👍
This is the channel with the best production quality across the whole platform. The one single channel where I actually "activate the bell" and you didn’t even have to ask for it.
Best F-9 video EVERRR? Quite possibly, Ryan! Well done!!! We have it all here: biting sarcasm at Ducati's (eh...) rear-end; learned lectures about how a wider wheel-base decreases slides; Godfather references galore (kudos for the pizza at the center there - brilliant!); and the "renouncing" ceremony... priceless! As a (former) Ducati owner for many years, this is the best Ducati video EVERRRR!
Was close to that when I bought my Desert Sled 2018, imagine now with de "Dealer X". I did not make to the second Ducati Service and went straight to my local mechanic to do it for a 1/4 of the price. 40,000Km later, Desert Sled still in great shape and no problems at all.
You went above and beyond on this one Guy's! Absolutely fantastic video. I swear this production team and Ryan should be making a series on Netflix or something, they're just that good!.
I know I’m only saying what’s been said maybe 1000 times on each F9 video, but as a filmmaker, your videos are inspirational, funny, entertaining and educational. I’ve been a fan since the XSR900 review in 2017, and your ability to review bikes is reminiscent of peak-era Top Gear. Thank you, F9.
Oh Ryan. You made my day. I couldn't stop laughing for a long long time. Welcome to the Ducati family. Kind Regards from a proud and enthusiastic Ducati owner (an insanely gourgeous Ducati Multistrada Enduro Pro 1200 with 51.000 km on the clock). All the best from Italy.
How did I just found this channel now? Great editing, sound and above all the amazing presentation from this guy at the level of Richard Hammond! Good Job and keep up the good work...
Go back two, three, and more years, when Aneesh was still the editor and cinematographer; the quality then was even above this video. Ryan still does the witty writing and spiffy presenting, but the rest is not on the same level any longer. Those years, when Ryan and Aneesh worked solely as a duo, brought forth arguably the best motorcycle content ever made for UA-cam. Truly masterful.
Ryan, if you did buy it, congrats. It always was a good option, but putting your own money into it, forefieting, the T7, and the Tuareg, not to mention all the other great adventure bikes, really is making a reputable statement of the worth of the Ducati X.
As an Italian, this was hilarious! Usually mafia humor is used to demean our country.. But this was in very good taste, as usual with your content! Congrats
Brilliantly done Ryan! One of the very best, most informative and fun moto-journalists on UA-cam. I never thought Ryan could ever renounce BMW GSA's or KTM's to that extend. I personally can't do that, having owned both and so they will always have a place in my garage. But his Desert X statement is strong and I can't ignore it. Okay Ryan; I'll give it a try with the extra tanks and no passenger like you said.

Always informative, always entertaining. You do not fail at your reviews and insight nor fail at making me laugh. You're consistently raising the bar. Congrats and thanks.
Absolutely hilarious video with a great review of the DesertX embedded within. The only part that caused a stomach knot was the snow segment which caused a major flashback to the time I stuck my Cagiva Gran Canyon on a snowy downhill leading to frantic digging, pushing, and reving trying to beat darkness. I did & lesson learned.

When you mentioned Elefant, I have to say I am looking forward to the MV 9.5 Lucky Explorer. Some previews are promising
The only motorcycle review I ever watched twice, back to back. This is classic!
Me too!
And yet it's looks of Honda Africa twin from the 80.
Today sucked. The guy that was going to sell me a super sick rallied out 701 Enduro sold it out from under me... The funk that put me in was deep. The last 2.5min of this video washed the funk away. Thank you!
Every time F9 uploads it makes my day better
Ryan... you're topping the moto-theatrical class lately. Love that you're from my hometown and that one day... likely very soon, some high end movie mogul or factory relations guy is going to make you an offer you can't refuse and we will all benefit from even higher production values. Keep pumping it out... you're slayin' it.
I think their product value is already top notch. Don't diss his boys. ;-)
I haven't touched a motorcycle in my entire life but I've watched every video on this channel. I feel like this channel encapsulates the positives of old school UA-cam - idea driven content.
Buy a motorcycle,start living 💪
"I haven't touched a motorcycle in my entire life"
Oh no!!!! a motorcycle virgin!. There is a cure for that.
I got my first motorcycle at 41. I had decided a man should not go to his grave having not ridden a motorcycle. That was June 2003. Now almost 20 years(???!!!!) and over 100,000KM, I would never not ride.
@@Terrestre1 See my comment regarding getting my first bike at 41. - Cheers
@@joeshmoe7967 That's nice, Joe. Keep riding.
I started with a 50cc when I was 14, now I am 60+ and still racing enduro.
I never thought Ducati could make me want another bike after my Multistrada heartbreak… but they got me again
What happened?
You released this video at *exactly* the same time I was taking ownership of mine at the dealership. Quite possibly the most fun bike I have ridden. I absolutely freaking love this thing.
Don’t we all say the same thing every new bike we buy

Knowing Ryan, it probably was.

Amen and Amen!
I legitimately laughed out loud. By far one of my favorite video’s you’ve ever made! 😂
Same here.
I bought a TW200 because of this fuckin guy
I got a bicycle and an ebike cuz of this channel lol
I'm not even remotely interested in taking any motorcycle off-road, adventure bikes just aren't my thing and yet those Fortnine videos are still a pleasure to watch. Amazing job again on the cinematography and story telling :D
💯 I’m on the opposite side of the spectrum. 100% dirt, but I’ll watch his street bike videos!
I'm too afraid of destroying my luggage and scraping my fairings to do serious off-roading, but it sure is nice having an adventure bike to not be afraid of potholes and bottoming out. Plus, I find the riding position comfier than both sport bikes and cruisers, especially on longer trips.
😂😂 Might need to spellcheck
I don't even own a motorbike and i wait eagerly for this legend to drop a video!! Someday i'd like to own one though : )
How can you not like adv and Dualsport? It’s the most fun thing in the world lol
This channel has gone from good to absolutely epic. I don't even have a bike but I watch every episode religiously.
I don't have or have ever owned a motorcycle. I can't ride a motorcycle. But in the past years watching your videos has made me appreciate motorcycles more and more. Thank you from a car guy.
I'm in the same boat. The production value of the videos and presentation make the 2 wheel stuff more appealing.
Take a riding course! You won’t believe how much fun it is, and it changes the way you see the road forever
Feel the hatred run through you, you cannot resist the power of the dark side.
;)
This entire video is why I love watching F9. Amazing video quality, honest and well thought out review…but that ending was, magnifico!!!
Vaaaa absolutely great
Best content creator on YT.
This one is great, but the Versys X300 will probably always be my favorite. That one touched me emotionally.

Another masterpiece 😊 Nobody comes even close to match what you guys do. This was so entertaining, thanks. Great job 😊
It is peaceful here, I live here. Lots of cool places where you don’t see anyone, except nature.
As an engineer I get hyped when I see such high quality production as this video. Great work.
Yeah, but it hasn't done anything for the inferiority complex, you will need therapy for that 🤷
Best ending ever! As an Italian I laughed a lot! Thanks for the review Ryan, great skills on snow. Have fun with the DesertX.
do you speak italian? how on point was his speaking? lol unless it was a hired italian I couldn't tell lol
You do realize it was a takeoff on the christening scene in The Godfather, don’t you?
I was raised Catholic and so, I'm not allowed to "Like" this video and I have to pray 12 Our Father's and 5 Hail Mary's for leaving this comment.
Worth it though.
I laughed with his well performed acting italian skills (hands gesture and cadence). At 0:33, "...when Ducati designers got here...they just...eeeeeehhhh FINITO! (finished! that's it!)". The last part of the video is a mix of latin and italian.
Regarding the DesertX, in my opinion, the rear looks great only with the side tanks installed. Otherwise, something is missing there.
@@tomfinn6579 of course I got that. we all got that. your questions got nothin to do with mine though.
Man I’m speechless! What a total masterpiece of a video! Congrats to the entire team!
Single track in snow without studs on a bike that big is 100x harder than it looks on video. Very nice riding. I cried when he did the BMW scene... We've all been there
I know eh? I took my BMW Daker out in the snow the other day and was like... yeah, naw I'm good now.
I said similar things upon HD ownership. The bikes, the ride, bitchin! The dealership experience and the du rag culture? Nightmare.
Best reviewer ever. I’ve watched this 4 times and still love it.
The ending was absolute cinematic genius, and as always Ryan continues owning comedic overlord status. Bravo good sir👏

Best F-9 video EVERRR? Quite possibly, Ryan! Well done!!! We have it all here: biting sarcasm at Ducati's (eh...) rear-end; learned lectures about how a wider wheel-base decreases slides; Godfather references galore (kudos for the pizza at the center there - brilliant!); and the "renouncing" ceremony... priceless! As a (former) Ducati owner for many years, this is the best Ducati video EVERRRR!
probably the best motorbike video production i have ever seen. Congrats
That ending was amazing. Awesome vid as usual and congratulations on the Duc.
Was close to that when I bought my Desert Sled 2018, imagine now with de "Dealer X". I did not make to the second Ducati Service and went straight to my local mechanic to do it for a 1/4 of the price. 40,000Km later, Desert Sled still in great shape and no problems at all.
Simply one of the best channels on YT.
They make maintenance so easy 😂😂😂😂 Ducati will have assassins looking for Ryan after that intro.
You went above and beyond on this one Guy's! Absolutely fantastic video.
I swear this production team and Ryan should be making a series on Netflix or something, they're just that good!.
Netflix? Don't insult the team that way; they're way too good for what was once a great streaming service.
Agreed. But they are just too good for Netflix.

@@sv650nyc7 I think it is better now than back then.
Ryan, this is just bloody brilliant! Best review of the X anywhere in the UA-cam world.
Ryan, if you did buy it, congrats. It always was a good option, but putting your own money into it, forefieting, the T7, and the Tuareg, not to mention all the other great adventure bikes, really is making a reputable statement of the worth of the Ducati X.

Up there? It is a huge upgrade from the Tenere, but also more expensive of course.
@@sv650nyc7 How exactly is it a huge upgrade from a tenere? It’s far less reliable, weighs the same and has 8 more hp. And is way more money. Not exactly what I’d consider an upgrade.

Attn Ducati, not that it matters, but i bought one because of this review. And for anyone else who wants one. After taxes, labor to install parts, said parts, set up and freight, RR22 livery MSRP, i am $30,000 into this bike. Its worth it.
