    seriously though, is "I hope all your favorite bands stay together" the nicest thing you could say to someone or not?

      I don't think it's intended to be the nicest thing you can say to someone. There's songs that try to do that but end up sounding cheesing or contrived. I think it's instead an innocent expression of nostalgia, and wanting things to stay the same but knowing full well that they cannot. Or prehaps it's saying to someone dear, "I'm not the person I once was, or the person I thought I'd be. But that doesn't mean you have to change too."

    • @walterhoenig6569

      Probably the nicest thing you can say to somebody is "I hope the world sees the same person that you've always been to me."

    • @andrewm1112
      @andrewm1112 7 років тому +25

      Well, I think the statement is actually a joke, but it's meant to be a light hearted way to say I love you, and I hope your life will always go well. It's a sweet sentiment, and an original lyric that is very adorable to me, and to those who love music, I think. "I hope you're brother's El Camino runs forever" is another line in this like it, it's absurd, because of course it won't run forever, but it's a sweet, funny, light hearted way to say, I still love you & want the best for you. Very nice lyric, I love it.

    Just went to a concert in which this band opened. It didn't take long for us, ( having not been familiar with them), to be thrilled that we found a new band that we very much like! Harmonies great, guitar solos great but wanted more, lyrics right up our alley, demeanor of the atmosphere was beautiful. Front man and singer, was so gracious and humble with the huge crowd. Connected with the audience beautifully. Most of all the band gave us a great night and we will be seeking them out to hear more.

    I am a songwriter for life. Its through me like a cities name in a stick of rock . I get so jaded listening to bad writing and then there is Dawes. One of the best bands out there . I keep returning to the power of their words first and then the music takes me. It is seldom in that order with music nowadays as the lyricist seems be down the food chain in bad collaborations. Dawes explore who we are beyond the lens of love or loss .There is so much more to be open to and opened by.

    One of my good friends recently passed away. He was a musician out in Nashville, but before those days we played in a band together for many years in the Twin Cities. Before me moved out there we went to see Dawes in concert. I'd never seen them and only knew a handful of tunes, but I left a fan for sure. This song has been an incredible source of comfort right now and I don't know if the band will ever see this, but in case they do I want them to know how much this tune means to me and how much they're music meant to him. Also, they're officially never allowed to break up.

    Yep. This grown man actually cried at the end when those kids started singing. By the way, the new album? My goodness. Best thing I’ve heard all year.
