AAAAA HELLO HELLO!!!!! My goodness there are so many of you here djjdkfkfkf Just wanted to pop in and say thank you so so much for all the sweet comments you’ve been leaving!! I’ve been reading through them and you guys are too kind
I heard someone else say "10/10 I f*cking hate it" and that perfectly encapsulates "Hold them Down". Ayron Alexander Sings it so beautifully, it's such a perfectly written Villain song, and it's absolutely horrifying
It's the most horrible and disgusting and rage inducing song that has some insanely good vocals and it's perfect because that's the point!! It's supposed to make you feel so uncomfortable and mad and hate the suitors even more and it makes that arrow to Antinous' throat all the better!!
To clarify the wedding bed situation. The bed was carved from a single tree, and the house was built around it. It's a simble that their love can't be moved. She's saying that just like he can't possibly move the bed, she can't possible stop loving him.
It also was her showing him that despite everything he went through, everything he did, and all the trauma he experienced, he's still the same man that planted that tree and built their palace all those years ago, and she did it in a way that made sure he could see it too. It would've been one thing to say "Of course, I'll love you always!", but to essentially force him to prove to himself _and_ her that he still has all the memories they shared together is just so powerful.
You’re kinda there! It was her last “confirmation” and that he was indeed her husband because only they would have known that he had made their home around their bed and her asking to remove their bed was essentially her asking him to tear apart their love as husband and wife if he’s genuinely saying he’s not her loving husband that made her that wedding bed. She refused to let him say that he wasn’t her husband when HE knew it was made out of love for her and she’s been waiting for him to return to it!
Fighting in a palace like Circe, trapped in the darkness like Polyphemus, aiming for the torches like Scylla, ruthless like Poseidon, and as cunning as he always has been. Odysseus truly embodied every monster he's faced along the way to kill the suitors. I also love that for most of us the first animatics we saw were Gigi's Horse and the Infant and Just a Man, and the last animatic in the livestream was by her. Such a good full circle moment. Also super off topic but I love your shirt! It looks super cool and I love the color!
@@LordCrag1998 to build off of your comment. Notice that every time a monster’s name is the title of a song, it showcases why they were so feared. When Odysseus goes ham at the suitors, his name is the song title which signifies that he is the monster at that moment in time.
@ also, at the beginning and end of the song, the BV’s sing his name like Polyphemus’ in Survive, which is sung in the danger motif, albeit slightly slowed down. And in the middle, in between him killing the groups of suitors, it’s sung in the sped up triplets version of the motif, like Poseidon’s name from the beginning of ruthlessness! There’s so many intricate details to the music and it never fails to blow my mind. Jorge is a freakin genius
In 'Would You Fall in Love With Me Again' for context, Jorge took some creative liberties in the end. In the book, when Odysseus returns to Ithaca, he puts on some rags in order to disguise himself as a peasant, and requests an audience with Penelope. He tells Penelope that her husband will return very soon. Penelope doesnt believe Odysseus, as she is under the impression that this is a commoner with no real evidence to support his claim. Later, he goes to the suitors and asks for a turn with the bow. The suitors, thinking hes an idiot, give him the bow. So Odysseus strings the bow perfectly and shoots through the twelve axes, and reveals himself to be the returning king. Cue Telemachus and Odysseus having some wonderful father-son bonding time by killing all the suitors in the building. Penelope then hears that someone has completed her challenge, so she goes to meet this mysterious man. Odysseus then reveals himself to Penelope and tells him that he's home. But Penelope having not seen her husband in 20 years and Odysseus looking a bit worse for wear, isnt fully convinced yet, so she gives him one more test. She basically tells Odysseus: "Hey so I moved our wedding bed while you were gone, hope you dont mind." Obviously only the real Odysseus would no that its impossible to move that bed, because the frame is carved from an olive tree and youd need to cut it from its roots to move it. "Only my husband knew that, so I guess that makes him you!"
I don't mind the change. Instead of her testing to see if it's him, here she seems to be pushing his buttons to prove a point to him: That he really is her husband. That he really is the man she has been waiting for. Even if he has changed, his past remains, and he is still tied to her.
@ThatsMrSomeGuyToYou the whole purpose of that sequence is to also show, when she tells him this, Odysseus loses his temper and gets angry and she just matched it instead of backing down. Really important note that they perfectly match each other even in temper hahaha
@@Shenningtatum yeah! It's shown in the music also. Odysseus' rock guitar carries onto Penelope shouting. As well as the background for the text staying red. Really... They matched each other's freak XD
OOOO that’s so interesting!! I really like both versions of the story but I definitely think the route EPIC took fits better with the story they were setting up!!
I just love the fact that most fans of epic started with gigi's animatics as their starting point. And now we end with the most emotional "obligatory 360" ever.
I've listened to the Ithaca Saga at least 15 times now, and "My son, I'm finally home" and "I will fall in love with you over and over again" still make me cry my eyes out.
"Don't tell me you're not the same person!" makes me sob every time, she didn't really question it was him for a moment - she was only afraid she was dreaming of his return again, I don't doubt she's had those dreams for twenty years at this point. She knew it was him the moment she saw him, and got angry when he tried to say otherwise :D
I just came from watching Casper Fox cry his soul out to this saga and seeing the first Waiting reprise hit you like it hit me was super adorable. This whole saga hits hard and keeps hitting you in the feels the whole way through. I love it.
A little fact on Ody's bow is that the kind of bow it is would be more than rare to exist in Ithaca, Greece. Historians believe it to be a recurve which is the one shown in the animatic for Hold Them Down. Basically stringing a recurve is just different to other more common bows of the region, so the suitors who only know Greek ones would be at a loss. Secondly, Ody's bow's draw weight is supposed to be insane; like 500 pounds. The draw weight is how easy or hard it is to pull on the string to shoot an arrow. My mom's bow from when she was 11 was about 30 pounds and a 100 pound bow is often considered as being very difficult to use requiring a lot of back muscles along with arms. So I imagine a 500 pound bow could only be used by someone of remarkable strength.
@@J__T To be fair, Odysseus is Hermes’ great great grandson - so he does have some divine strength in his blood. A 500lb draw strength isn’t out of the question when you have Olympus on your side.
He had a palioptres, not a recurve. The bow literally bends around backwards when not strung, and unless you know the trick to stringing it it is impossible to string.
I have no idea on ANY of these kind of bows but I KNEW it had to be a trick of Ody's that didn't require pure strength to string it. Clever. And clever of Penelope cause she knew
@@tristanromero8077 Is there another name for that? When I search 'palioptres' I keep getting modern bows or recurves; I'd really like to learn about this.
IM SL GLAD SOMEONE ELSE HAD AN EMOTIONAL REACTION TO “It’s one I’ll have to miss for it’s far beyond my years, you might live forever, so you can make it be”.
An explanation for the twelve axes; when she says shoot through twelve axes, what they'd done is drove the axes in a line into wood and then removed the handles (haft), and that left the eye of the axe open. That was what the suitors had to shoot through, and Odysseus did. Likely at one of the many feasting tables that the suitors were basically constantly at eating and drinking.
Your reactions are so insanely similar to mine so I feel just so incredibly validated right now. 37:52 I literally paused a said “they’re in the same room” over and over again out loud while pacing around, usually I don’t show much emotion but when it’s something I’m like obsessed with I became a completely different person that has extreme reactions over the tiniest things like when Odysseus said “my boy” just something about it just hit so hard.
2 Fun Facts: 1) In the original Odyssey there was only one of the suitors who was against the plan being made. He actually fled before Odysseus locked the suitors in. 2) The character begging for open arms Eurymachus was almost like a second-in-command when ranking the suitors as a group with Antinous being the leader, and was known as a smoother talker. So take his apology as you will.
So, as far as I'm aware your first fact isn't true, mostly. Amphinomous (sp?) was the one suitor against the plan to kill Telemachus, and he was basically just like 'let the gods sort it out, whatever.' So he was offered mercy, they did say to him that he could leave and they'd be cool with it before the contest started, but he was fated to be killed by Telemachus, so he didn't actually leave and Telemachus killed him when Odysseus, Telemachus, Eumaeus and Philoteus (sp? again) start doing their thing. I don't know if there's different translations or whatever though where different things happen, this is just the one I read *Edit, lmao nm I only just go to the but where amphinomus fuckin dies I'll shut up now
Addendum, unless you're talking about the other guy, who I can't remember anything about ever except I think he was a bard, who iirc was actually spared, but that was after they killed everyone else. There might have been a second one too, but i don't remember literally anything about him if there was. But Amphinomous was the only one who spoke up against the plan to kill Telemachus, which is why i was talking about him first *Edit, lmao nm I only just go to the but where amphinomus fuckin dies I'll shut up now
If you want to see a different take on HOld Them Down, check out the work from @Orange. Because while the suiters are reving up for their horrific acts, Orange actually draws Odysseus in the background prepping, taking the weapons, locking doors, stringing the bow, and so on. THe entire time the focus is still on the suitors, but Ody is there. @HiStellaLuna did a version with a far more Greek art ascetic. Then best part they do is while get to the final part, the camera switches to Ody walking with the with the bow and a few Suitors notice him with "oh crap" looks as he lines up and shoots Antinous through the holes of the 12 axes.
For those wishing to partake in the earworm that is Hold Them Down but wanting to avoid the icky lyrics, there is a parody of it where the suitors are preparing for Telemachus' birthday. The original parody has an animatic by Gigi, but someone went and made a longer version of the whole song as well
Hold Them Down is a perfect dichotomy of I LOVE this song. The music, the cadence, the pacing, an absolutely PHENOMENAL vocal performance. BUT I hate, hate, HATE WITH THE HEAT OF A THOUSAND SUNS, the character and the lyrics, and what this absolute slug of a human being is plotting and planning. It's absolutely the best villain song I've ever heard, and I LOVE me the villain songs.
I was close, my reaction was biggest when he was named the warrior of the mind, the new one build from a mix of his own ideals and the skill and abilities of Athena. When he was named warrior of the mind I was roaring
Something to notice is that throughout the musical, the suitors seem to be civil until Antinuous starts talking every single time. In “Legendary”, they were wondering why they haven’t replaced a king who is probably dead, which is fair. But as soon as Antinuous started with Telemachus (who I almost just accidentally called Atreus), then they wanted to back him up. In “Hold Them Down”, they give genuine tries to do Penelople’s challenge fair and square. They were literally there for hours trying it the fair way so we know they can be civil. But the moment Antinuous started to implant this new idea in their head they were on board. He’s literally the serpent’s head. Obviously the other suitors are terrible for even considering it. They’re instigators and easily manipulated ones at that. But I wonder how it would pan out if Antinuous was literally not there in the first place. Edit: Throughout not they ought.
Even though this may be true, they had 20 years, to speak up, or leave and go home...so they definitely decided their fates. Especially destroying his palace (which is a disservice in Greece Hospitality) and king to beat up his son and 🍇 his wife... Yeah they deserve every bit of it
@@darkmega24ify this would make a lot of sense. Considering the original Odyssey, Eurymachus (the guy you’re referring to) was actually just as terrible as Antinous. He was basically his second in command
I think there was one suitor who wasn’t on board with Antinuous’ plans but he never spoke up to stop them (which to be fair, I can’t imagine anyone standing up to 107 suitors who would do anything and everything once spurred on) and it certainly didn’t stop Odysseus from ending his life too.
1:40 Pretty Telemachus drawings :0!!! 8:10 WAIT THAT’S NOT WHAT SHOOT THROUGH THE AXES MEANS?! What. 9:47 That “waiting” reaction was EXACTLY WHAT I DID. JORGE HOW DARE YOU 12:11 “Anyways I’m gonna move on before I cry” Remembers next song: oh no 13:08 “Hiii ‘-_-“ Yeah so fair 15:44 “Don’t animate this!!” Agreed… my poor boy… 17:22 “He’s not here.” *door knocks* PERFECT timing. 22:28 NEVER apologise for being obsessed with a character. VALID REACTION. Your analysis of the last song even through tears is amazing!! Whenever I cry I can’t say anything so that’s very impressive haha AND PLEASE DO NOT APOLOGISE FOR THE TEARS!! It’s so lovely when people react to their favourite things with tears, shows so much love for the project and also it makes me feel better for SOBBING OVER THIS SAGA OH MY GOD- Okay it’s five thirty in the morning for me I need to go to bed-
AAAA THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING ALL YOUR THOUGHTS IT WAS SO SO SO MUCH FUN TO LOOK THROUGH THESE!!!!! People who didn’t cry scare me because. how. HOW. RAAAAAAA
@@asterkatt Damn, now that I commented about not having cried I... I have no idea. I cried at the revelation of Balto's narrator being the ill girl. I cried for Disney's Hercules staying mortal for love. I cried twice during the finale of Twisted the first time I saw it and every single time I watched it again. How did I not cry the first time I saw this? How? HOW INDEED? T_T
You are a normal, well-adjusted person. Anyone who hears this whole musical and does not have to fight to hold back carhartic tears or let them flow would be unemotional or a monster.
Lets gooooooo!! This saga made me sob, the last song especially. The way that this musical changes the story of the Odyssey is fantastic. The olive tree is not used as a test here, because Penelope already knows its Odysseus, instead she uses it as proof to show Ody that he's being stupid. Ever since "No longer you" I had a feeling that once Ody gets back to Ithaca, he will be a completely different person, to the point he won't be recognizable anymore. That the only way he'll be able to return is at the cost of losing himself. And Ody believed it too, but of course, Penelope proves him wrong. Because one thing that kept Ody going, the thing that made him return was his love for her and Telemachus. Yes, he is a very different person now, but that doesn't mean he's not capable of loving or doesn't deserve to be loved anymore. God I love this musical so much.
YES YES YES YES YES. I LOVE how she was characterized in that scene honestly. It gives her so much personality for one song. Like girly was literally like “are you stupid???????? Ofc I’m going to love you still wtf are you on about” /hj I love her. I love that song. I love this saga. I love this musical. AUGHFHFJKSKD
It makes their finally meeting feel so much more. They really love each other and missed each other, and that resulting in a hug it just feels so much more! DX
YES. I’m such a sucker for having that hug at the end of things. Like yeah a kiss is nice but there’s something so much more impactful to me with a hug
This was definitely a “I need an emotional support snack, blanket, stuffy, and hotline on speedial” saga. You saying “sorry I can’t react I have no words” was beautiful cause you genuinely had the same reaction as I did the first time 😭❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for an amazing conclusion to this phenomenal musical❤️
also don't feel like it's over Jorge has said he's likely going to release some side songs and y'know. this is a concept album. it's meant to lead to a full show of some kind. We will see!
Odysseus for 20 years: *Slowly turns into a monster so he doesn't have to be anymore* Telemachus for 20 years: *Struggles to become his father* Penelope for 20 years: "We do a little bit of trolling" Athena: a few days ago "Huh i haven't binged Ody on godflix for a while" The entire Pantheon: "Girl why you bringing up reruns?"
This is my first time watching you and honestly I started tearing up while watching this all over again while I was at work today😭 their all such powerful songs and the last one relates to me personally so it really hits me
Reports say 43 people in Aster's city died that day, and another 557 were injured, due to sudden, severe, and unexpected flood conditions caused by her tears in the first ten seconds of "I Can't Help but Wonder"
this is my first video of yours that ive watched and OH MY GOD I LOVE IT. YOU MADE ME FEEL ALL THE EMOTIONS IVE FELT WHEN I FIRST LISTENED TO THE ITHACA SAGA. U GOT ME CRYING AT 4AM MY GOD. ILY SO MCUH AND IM GONNA BE BINGING YOUR VIDOES I CANNOT TYPE W MY TEARS
Absolutely incredible reaction, never apologise for being the absolute ray of sunshine that you are. Athena would be proud of your beautiful mind and your feice devotion and love for our Prince 🥰
Love Love Looove the beginning of mentioning Telemachus brainrot LOL when i say i YELLED "Ohhhhhh Just you wait!" LMAO this has to EASILY be the best reaction ive seen of someone reacting to the Last saga😭
theres literally nothing better than watching someone react the with the same emotions you have but at an extreme. like I'm allowing the tears to run down my face, sure, but my breathing is fine! but their blubbering is making me feel like I have not only an outlet but also validation and comradery, and really brings home how much of an artform this musical is!
so a few things of note: 1. There was a suitor in the original Odyssey that was spared. He was basically a bard of sorts who actually genuinely did love penelope and befriended Telemachus who then vouched for him so Odysseus let him go 2. You can hear Jorges voice during "hold them down", and it becomes clearer near the end...Odysseus was part of the crows of suitors, which also ties into the original Odyssey. 3. During Would you fall in love with me again, when Odysseus recounts his tale to Penelope, you hear the Motiffs of "ruthlessness", "thunderbringer" and "Im not sorry for loving you" which I find especially interesting cause...it kinda seems like Ody regrets not being able to help Calypso
I just gotta say, this is the first video of yours I've seen and you reactions are SO REAL JADKFJA XD, low-key feels like I'm watching this with a friend XD great video ^^
21:00 Aster goes through each state of grief backwards before dying inside Edit: I have now watched through the entire video and found this sentence is also Aster during the entire video.
The fan girling over Telemachus made this experience even better than I thought. 😂 Partially because I’m glad I found someone this freaking exited over epic as me.
I've watched a bunch of Ithaca Saga reactions over the past few days, and yours was _SO CUTE OMG._ I love how much you love Telemachus, I love how much you hated Antinuus, I love how you were just an emotional mess for the last two songs. I am sending you hugs rn because it sounds like you need 'em after that ride.
Seeing this reaction was genuinely so fun, I was going ‘just like me fr fr’ especially to the really excited stimming and having to pause when the favorite character comes on LMAO- like me too man
Gurl! Our reaction is same, like.. every song bring different feeling. One time is happy, dancey dancey, then anger, then sad, then happy and sad like Arrghh i love it T_T
I just love that it was always "waiting..... Waiting..... For love" but at the end when she sings it it's "for you" just "no idiot I haven't been waiting for love I've been waiting for you!"
It's crazy to me that the choir in the song where he's killing all the suitors is saying "ODY-SSEUS" in the traditional greek the same way they did with POLY-PHEMUS in the Cyclops Saga. He really has become the monster.
From the first time it was mentioned how "normal" you are about Telemachus, I was just sitting and thinking how excited I was to see your reaction to him showing up in Odysseus. You did not disappoint. ^_^
3:40 I think reactors who pause to talk about what theyre watching and actually add their input are the only ones worth watching, anything else is just content theft imo
You have my favorite epic reactions, so I'll stick around and check out the rest of your channel! Thank you for your hard work and dedication here. You're so genuine and likeable, please keep up the awesome work!
Your reaction is by far my favorite! I am happy you did pause and actually react to things. You reacted pretty similarly to me 😢. The compilation animatic hit me pretty hard as well. The last song is my current favorite in Epic, with No Longer You trying to reclaim its top spot. Thanks so much for posting!
Hey wanna hear something even more heartbreaking?? Polites tells Odysseus to "greet the world with open arms" Ody's world is his son and wife, telemachus and penelope He greets them both with a hug, open arms :3
Just a man, who’s finally made it home, even after all the years away from what he’s known, he’s just a man who’s fought through war and strife, deep down he would trade the world to see his son and wife.
In the book, the axes are like. Removed from the handles and set up blade-down so the challenge is to shoot through the holes where the handles would be. So no, not shooting through metal... but also insanely difficult!
I also wept just straight through the last two songs. I think I started at “son I’m finally home” and just couldn’t stop. I cried again watching this reaction xDD
I've come back to watch this reaction like 10 times at least, I just love seeing your big and bright and rich expressions and emotions when things happen in this emotional rollercoaster of a finale
this was my first time here, and i just.. you are so.. genuine in your reaction and i really, really liked that!! your feral goblin-ness will be what brings me back! ❤
Omg you are the only person to react the same way as me for the last two songs aka bawling my eyes out and sobbing loudly. I so needed your reaction. Thank you 😭
I adored your reaction. The level of excitement during Odysseus was such a mood and I'm so happy to see other people as feral about their favourite characters as I am about mine. 😆 Your reaction was so authentic and I'm so happy Thank you for sharing
I love how Odysseus eyes stay red. Yes sometimes the eyes blow bright red, and other times they is just the red pupil. But it shows the reality that to get home, the world forced him to become the monster.
I love your reaction to the whole musical and I adore all the genuine emotions and feelings (that admittedly I shared going through this thing), im still shocked that in youtube terms you are going under the radar but I wish you all the best and this is such an underrated channel. 💕
I loved how emotional you were doing the reaction!! Made me cry again because of this saga Seeing your reaction (and your shelf), I recommend a game called Until Then, it's really beautiful both visually and story wise, but it's also reaally sad
first of all i LOVE your energy!! this was such a delightful reaction to watch!!!! second of all, THANK YOU OH MY GOSH, you're one of the only people (if not the first i've personally seen) to feel sympathetic towards Gabi in AoT!!!! i love her lots because she's such an intriguing character--as well as just kind of a bab to me in general, i love kid characters lol i would protect her with my life--and it makes me so mad when the fandom hates her simply because she killed a fan favorite.
AFJDSKJFHSDKJHF THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!! AND YES!! THANK YOU!!!!!! I love kid characters and something about her - I was instantly attached. So to see everyone immediately hate her without even considering where she was coming from was so frustrating!!
This saga honestly made me sob, what was worse for me is i kept looking down at the part with the cast, and in the fourth song, if you look at lukes face(voice of zeus/bottom right) he looks like he about to burst into tears, the cast are honestly so wholesome Also another sad thing, is in the original myth and i think epic aswell, eurylochus, was married to Ctimene aka the little sister of odysseus(in case you didnt know) meaning he didnt just have to sacrifice his crew/his friends, he had to sacrifice his brother in law, meaning he'd have to break the news to his sister aswell
I loved rewatching the whole stream to see all the cast reactions - I'm so glad this musical had the same impact on some of them that it did on the rest of us!! AND STOPPP I knew about Ctimene but I didn't think about it that way,.,., ouch,.,., /pos
I absolutely love your energy ^^ (I absolutely loved the musical aspects and overall characteristics in this saga and you have like the same reactions I did lol)
Hi, new subscriber, and yes, this is my 1st time seeing you reacting to Telemachus....in such a manor....but it was definitely justified, and it was a joy to watch... I'm def about to go back and watch the rest of your reactions 😂😂
Thank you so much for Jorge and everyone who worked on it you have done so much and you’ve done a very beautiful job telling the story and singing the vocals and everything. I guess a lot of coffee had to be drank and this is a masterpiece I hope in a future to see a movie and or a school Performance of the story
The final animator was Gigi. She started this journey with Horse and the Infant, finished it with the final sequence of Would You Fall in Love with Me Again?
2:13 that's also around the time I got into Epic! I was very late, but I'm glad because it helped me through how hard school was. It wasn't that it was "hard" in the sense of what I was learning. I just felt like I'm not learning whatsoever because I've already learned this stuff last year.
Just to clarify something about the axes. It's actually quite literal. It's just the axes dont look like the ones we normally see today. These axes were hollow in the center, so there was a space big enough to shoot an arrow through 😅 Edit: I dont remember this specifically but I've seen people mention it so I thought I would mention it too. But in the original story she sits at the end of the row of the axes, so if someone were to successfully shoot through the axes it would end up killing her. Which I thought was interesting with the line "I'd rather die than grow old without the best of you" the best of them being Odysseus. She's saying she'd rather die than grow old without Ody and Ody only. 😭
AUGHHH I WAS WONDERING IF THAT WAS WHAT THAT IMPLIED OH MY GOD. Despite the fact that Penelope as a character doesn't get all that much spotlight in EPIC I absolutely LOVE the character she was given,.,., aughhhhhh I love her so so so much
I found you through this vid and your reaction is so great. I also love your bookshelf, omori, tgcf, yttd?? Wait i just looked and you have play throughs of both. Your personality is so fun.

in a world with gods who tend to shapeshift and manipulate people that way, confirming that her husband really was her husband was also very important
So what you're saying is that the king lived in a treehouse.

She basically tells Odysseus: "Hey so I moved our wedding bed while you were gone, hope you dont mind."
Obviously only the real Odysseus would no that its impossible to move that bed, because the frame is carved from an olive tree and youd need to cut it from its roots to move it.

@@Blu3Hrt ditto 😭
those lines will ALWAYS hit so hard AUGH
"Don't tell me you're not the same person!" makes me sob every time, she didn't really question it was him for a moment - she was only afraid she was dreaming of his return again, I don't doubt she's had those dreams for twenty years at this point. She knew it was him the moment she saw him, and got angry when he tried to say otherwise :D
Then
"Eurylochus, light up six torches"
Now
"Keep your head down-he's aiming for the torches!!"

the timing is beautiful lskdjflkdsj
Yeah, I think the most common draw weight of war bows at the time was between 140-180 pounds

@ YEAH I bawled ugly style 😭
17:25 "he is not here he is not here" the doorbell rings

@asterkatt it really was lol
An explanation for the twelve axes; when she says shoot through twelve axes, what they'd done is drove the axes in a line into wood and then removed the handles (haft), and that left the eye of the axe open. That was what the suitors had to shoot through, and Odysseus did. Likely at one of the many feasting tables that the suitors were basically constantly at eating and drinking.
ahhhh that definitely makes more sense!!
this is the most emotional i've ever seen anyone over ithaca saga your making me cry over these songs i've heard so many times now
what can I say I love getting attached to things hehdjdkkf
Same!! I've listened to them like a dozen times now, but I was tearing up during #39. 😭
Your reactions are so insanely similar to mine so I feel just so incredibly validated right now.
37:52
I literally paused a said “they’re in the same room” over and over again out loud while pacing around, usually I don’t show much emotion but when it’s something I’m like obsessed with I became a completely different person that has extreme reactions over the tiniest things like when Odysseus said “my boy” just something about it just hit so hard.
I’M VERY GLAD I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE!! They mean so much to me I am physically incapable of being normal about them /hj
2 Fun Facts:
1) In the original Odyssey there was only one of the suitors who was against the plan being made.
I don't know if there's different translations or whatever though where different things happen, this is just the one I read
*Edit, lmao nm I only just go to the but where amphinomus fuckin dies I'll shut up now
Addendum, unless you're talking about the other guy, who I can't remember anything about ever except I think he was a bard, who iirc was actually spared, but that was after they killed everyone else. There might have been a second one too, but i don't remember literally anything about him if there was. But Amphinomous was the only one who spoke up against the plan to kill Telemachus, which is why i was talking about him first
*Edit, lmao nm I only just go to the but where amphinomus fuckin dies I'll shut up now
If you want to see a different take on HOld Them Down, check out the work from @Orange.
OOOO interesting!! Thank you for the recommendations!!!
For those wishing to partake in the earworm that is Hold Them Down but wanting to avoid the icky lyrics, there is a parody of it where the suitors are preparing for Telemachus' birthday. The original parody has an animatic by Gigi, but someone went and made a longer version of the whole song as well
Im pretty sure Ayron Alexander said on his tiktok that he's gonna cover it too
@@ollie9808 He did! It was recently -- like, I think just a couple of days ago -- but he did cover it, and it's excellent!

(On hold them down) his voice is smooth as butter, but someone put cyanide in the butter.
this comment made me cackle thank you
@@asterkatt no problem lol great reaction!
I forgot his name, but the guy who kept calling Odysseus "Old King" would have probably replaced him seeing as he's a very cunning manipulator.
@@darkmega24ify True. He even put himself in the open to seem unarmed and genuine

REAL!! It would be very hard to not get at least a little emotional to this one
We went from “I’m just a man” in just a man to “for twenty years” in Odysseus
I like your content only because of epic
Ofc I’m going to love you still wtf are you on about” /hj

It makes their finally meeting feel so much more. They really love each other and missed each other, and that resulting in a hug it just feels so much more! DX
YES. I’m such a sucker for having that hug at the end of things. Like yeah a kiss is nice but there’s something so much more impactful to me with a hug

AAA I'm very glad I was able to share my experience with you then!!
so a few things of note: 1. There was a suitor in the original Odyssey that was spared. He was basically a bard of sorts who actually genuinely did love penelope and befriended Telemachus who then vouched for him so Odysseus let him go

Hey wanna hear something even more heartbreaking??
Polites tells Odysseus to "greet the world with open arms"
Ody's world is his son and wife, telemachus and penelope
He greets them both with a hug, open arms :3
Just a man, who’s finally made it home, even after all the years away from what he’s known, he’s just a man who’s fought through war and strife, deep down he would trade the world to see his son and wife.
In the book, the axes are like. Removed from the handles and set up blade-down so the challenge is to shoot through the holes where the handles would be. So no, not shooting through metal... but also insanely difficult!
This is honestly the best reaction to EPIC that I have ever seen. so ready for the reaction channel!

Also another sad thing, is in the original myth and i think epic aswell, eurylochus, was married to Ctimene aka the little sister of odysseus(in case you didnt know) meaning he didnt just have to sacrifice his crew/his friends, he had to sacrifice his brother in law, meaning he'd have to break the news to his sister aswell
I loved rewatching the whole stream to see all the cast reactions - I'm so glad this musical had the same impact on some of them that it did on the rest of us!!
AND STOPPP I knew about Ctimene but I didn't think about it that way,.,., ouch,.,., /pos
I absolutely love your energy ^^
(I absolutely loved the musical aspects and overall characteristics in this saga and you have like the same reactions I did lol)
ACK thank you!!
Your giddiness is great!
Definitely the best musical I’ve seen in years
ACK THANK YOU!! and it truly is incredible!!
Hi, new subscriber, and yes, this is my 1st time seeing you reacting to Telemachus....in such a manor....but it was definitely justified, and it was a joy to watch... I'm def about to go back and watch the rest of your reactions 😂😂
SKJDHFKJSDH thank you thank you haha - what can I say I love that boy
Thank you so much for Jorge and everyone who worked on it you have done so much and you’ve done a very beautiful job telling the story and singing the vocals and everything. I guess a lot of coffee had to be drank and this is a masterpiece I hope in a future to see a movie and or a school Performance of the story
The final animator was Gigi. She started this journey with Horse and the Infant, finished it with the final sequence of Would You Fall in Love with Me Again?
THIS SAGA ALSO LEFT ME IN SHAMBLES *cries* I've been playing I can't help but wonder on repeat so much.
I HAVE REPLAYED IT SO MANY TIMES IT'S SO AKJLKSDJFLKJELKJFLKSJDKF
@@asterkatt sameeeeeeee (I have played I can't help but wonder 1013 times already lolll)
These axes were hollow in the center, so there was a space big enough to shoot an arrow through 😅
Edit: I dont remember this specifically but I've seen people mention it so I thought I would mention it too.
AAAA THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
