  • Running faster is all about stride length and stride frequency. You must increase one of the two, or both to get faster. Use this high knee speed drill to get faster. By wearing Kbands during this drill you will fire more muscles than you would without the kbands. Complete intervals of 15 seconds with Kbands and immediately for 12 seconds without the kbands. The most important thing to remember is work into the set without the kbands as fast as you can. The feather like feeling you have in your legs will give you the ability to move your legs faster. By stimulating more muscle fibers athletes will have the ability to run faster.

    Within two weeks of doing this my knee lift exponentially improved and I dont feel as winded as I did before. I felt very explosive when doing this today. Hope good results come to follow. Thanks

    I had a lot of athletes decrease their 40s .2-.5 tenths before. It's all about the level of training you are starting with and how hard you are willing to work.

    This exercise will work your calf muscles but I would use it to focus on the calves. There are some much more efficient exercises you can do to build your calves.

    You have the right idea. Train hard no matter what you are doing.

  • @KbandsTraining

    Depending on you level of training you can see results within a week or two. I always advise my athletes to train hard with Kbands for 5 weeks. This will give athletes a full training cycle to maximize their results before needing to let their body rest.

    Yes. Sprinting in Kbands can help improve strength in your hip flexors leading to faster sprinting. Complete short burst to enhance the dig phase of your sprints. For instance 8-10 set of 15 to 20 yard sprints. 1 minute rests between followed by 2-4 un-resisted sets.

    A post stretch is always a must. As for the workouts just be sure to leave a day of rest between workouts, that way your body has rest to be explosive for your next training session.

    Glad to see my theory was correct, stability and running in place faster has a lot to do with it. Finished watching a video of #ChrisHeria and he ran in place very quickly. I theorized his core was so strong that the stability much like this wall is what allowed him to do so.

    Rest periods are about a minute to a minute and a half. There really are no alternative to kbands. Ankle weights, ankle resistance bands and hoop bands place the resistance in different places of the leg. Kbands allow full range of motion without slipping. Best for sport training.

    Sweat can make them slip a bit, but that's a good sign. It means your working hard. Try compression shorts. They keep your legs dry and still hold the bands in place rather then placing them over your shorts.

    Ankle weights will not provide the same type of resistance. Ankle weights provide a swinging sensation when training which can alter form. With kbands you will be able to maintain explosive range of motion developing both hip flexor and glute strength for improved performance.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  12 років тому

    Not as much as you would think. When your body is pressing against the wall you will find most of the work is in your legs. (hip flexors and glutes) The weight added by the vest isn't utilized as it would be during jumping exercises or other plyometric work.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  12 років тому

    Absolutely. As a linemen you need power in your lower half. Becoming more explosive will help you get off the ball.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  11 років тому

    Sure. You can always exercise without resistance bands. You just will not see the same benefits as using them. Kbands help develop hip flexor and glute strength. Without applying resistance it's harder to activate these muscles to the extend that you can with kbands.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  12 років тому

    We offer a set of blue bands on the website that are more resistance. I would suggest grabbing those. If you become strong enough for the blue bands then you can double up the blue and the green bands, but I would not double up the green and the red bands. The red bands are shorter for smaller users and will max out their stretch before you reach full range of motion. This is not what you want when training.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  11 років тому

    Yes running short burst sprints with kbands is another great way to build your hip flexors leading to more speed. Running hills is also a great method.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  11 років тому

    I have tested ankle weights and have not seen near the benefit when training my athletes. Ankle weights give a swinging sensation with movement. By using Kbands you will have the resistance above the knee which allows you to build knee drive. The resistance help build strength in the hip flexors and glutes while still maintaining natural range of motion.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  11 років тому

    Yes you can definitely become faster. Follow drills such as this one and train several days a week and you will see gain.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  11 років тому

    You can cut the straps to fit any size leg and there are multiple levels of resistance for users of all sizes.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  11 років тому

    Yes this is a great speed drill for any sport. It help build hip flexor strength and explosiveness. With the leg resistance bands Kbands you will feel a huge difference in the effectiveness.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  12 років тому

    Yes. Building your hip flexors and core with Kbands during the Wall Drill will help greatly. We all kinds of track reviews on the site for Kbands. Read through them and see for yourself. There are a couple state champs in there you will notice.

    You can use weighed sleds if your school has those or partner pulls. Kbands are by far the easiest way to target running muscles though.

    We have used the bands on athletes as young as eight years old. It helps develop their center of balance and leg strength for increased speed. I would not suggest starting with this drill however. This drills is an advanced level drills which should be completed later on in a child's training.

  • @pursuithunt6245

    I just ordered the bands after watching this video , hope this helps to strengthen my legs and maximize my athleticism

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  11 років тому

    Kicking requires strong hips, glutes and hip flexors. This drill is great for building each of these.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  11 років тому

    I would not suggest using the lateral resistors above your knee for this drill. I have seen athletes do this before and what you will find is the resistance bands are to long and are sagging between the legs after you get them strapped on. You will want resistance from the minute you strap them on. This allows you to build strength and explosiveness through full range of motion.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  11 років тому

    I always suggest working with kbands for five weeks and complete a post test. That way you can focus on your training and maximize your results rather then training to test for smaller gains every week.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  12 років тому

    With ankle bands you will lose range of motion. Because these bands add resistance bands above the knee it allows you to drive your legs through full range of motion with resistance adding strength, power and speed.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  12 років тому

    You use them as a tool to train with. To improve your speed and then on competition days you simply use what you have gained. You will not want to fatigue yourself before a race. That's what I mean.
    If you are just running during practice then yes by all means use them before you run.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  11 років тому

    I would not suggest ankle weights. Ankle weights provide a swinging link sensation. This is not the same resistance provided by our kbands. These are designed to allow you to move through full range of motion with resistance through stride like movements. In doing this you will gain hip flexor strength and explosiveness. Ankle weights do not provide the same benefits.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  12 років тому

    Before the workout use a dynamic warm up rather than a static stretch.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  12 років тому

    Depending on you level of athleticism results will very. If you are young with little training you will see results in as little as a week of hard proper training. As for more advanced athletes who are near their peak performance hard training will give smaller gains. I train my competitive athletes for 5 weeks before getting to a transition week. Just make sure you follow the drill in its entirety and be as explosive as possible each and every rep.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  11 років тому

    We have helped basketball players develop their speed with kbands and am sure you will find great success as well.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  11 років тому

    Be sure that you are warming up before you start and also be sure to stretch when you are finished. It is normal to be sore. This is a very high intensity exercise.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  12 років тому

    Kbands allow you to train with resistance through full range of motion. I do not know of any other set of resistance bands that allow that. I use these with my athletes and get great gains in speed and acceleration.

  • @KbandsTraining
    @KbandsTraining  12 років тому

    This drill will help you as well as any other athlete. Keep a flat back and work to be explosive every rep. If weight is an issue for you then you must take a look at your food choices. If man made it don't eat it is always a good rule of thumb.

  • @KbandsTraining

    Gotcha. My advice would be to focus on training gains and let the body fat drops come. Food and rest is essential to increased performance. If you focus too much on losing body fat you may not maximize your gains. So be sure you are testing both speed and explosiveness throughout your drop. If you are still maintaining gains stick to your deficit diet. If you are not make sure you are eating enough. Also make sure you are eating enough protein. It's a must.

    I train tall athletes like yourself all the time. This drill will help athletes of any size.

    I would not suggest putting the bands around your ankles. You will lose natural range of motion during sport specific movements. These bands I am using are called kbands. Great addition to a speed training program.

    That's great blair. Keep working hard and you will keep improving. Let me know if you have any training questions I can help you with.
