How is the pot shaft coupled with the spur gear? Also, is there a standard stiffness for spring? Also also, why does the clutch pedal have a shaft inside the spring and others don't?
This is awesome and I'm printing out a set now. Have you thought about running fillets around all the top edges? That way you wouldn't have to razor blade the edges.
Hi, mate! This project saved me ton of time both in design and print as quickly I needed pedals to repair a Logitech Momo set for a friend. I upgraded them with RC shocks and am pretty happy how it turned out. I wanted to ask - what is the licensing for that? I would like to share my extension of the design so other people can download and use it for free too if possible! Cheers ;)
I actually do these projects by developing them at different levels, from simple to difficult. It will be improved in the next versions. thanks for your comment
Hello! I printed these pedals and put them together. I noticed 2 problems: the springs fly out of the mountings. And the upper spring mount prevents the potentiometer gear from turning.
Nice racing shoes! Could you use a load cell for the brake instead of a potentiometer? Awesome build, never done a Arduino project before but I don't own pedals or a wheel ATM so I'm tempted to give this a try!
Yes, you can use a load cell too. It outputs a signal similar to a potentiometer. The harder you press the higher the signal, which the Arduino can read easily.
great project! this ist, what i was looking for. i disassembled an old pedal-unit from a thrustmaster steering wheel. the potis are the same. i assume, they run on 5v, cause you wired it to the arduino, right? so what is mmjoy2? as far, as i understand, its an interface for arduino, so you dont not have to write your own sketch, and it provides a virtuell joystick, that windows can "see", right? i want to use this for MAME.
I Dont understand how you soldered the potentiometers to the nano but selected the leonardo chipset and the com port you chose was called arduino leonardo on the device manager, how so
thanks for the video, really motivate me to do this racing video game controller setup. i want to ask if i can also connect the potentiometer for steering wheel with the pedals to 1 arduino leonardo pro micro ? thanks
hey, do i need a breadboard and 2 resistors to make the connections ? like for the pedals and the steering wheel (with shifters but no ffb), and which resistors do i need ?

No it isnt, nano is smaller version of uno, pro micro is smaller version of leonardo. And if u don't know, uno (and nano) arent possible to use as a controller/keyboard
does anyone know what springs i have to use? i saw the description but when I look on google i get a lot of springs and idk which one i have to get. Knowing the force of every springs would be great
If you are referring to the small blue one he wired all the potentiometers to, it's an Arduino Pro Micro. For most projects like this you would use a Pro Micro or possibly an Arduino Uno, as they can operate as keyboard / mouse / joystick on computers.
@@truepennytv I believe an Uno doesn't have HID compatibility. The Leonardo does. I would suggest a teensy though. Since they can read potentiometers at a higher resolution. The Pro micro (and leonardo I believe) only do 10 bits (1024 values over the full range) where a teensy can do up to 16 bit I believe (or even 32 Idk). 16 bit would give you 4x the resolution so 4096 values over the full range. Especially if you're doing a wheel. You'll need a fast microprocessor for accurate high resolution encoder readouts. I'm building a wheel which uses a motor with an encoder on top of it that reads about 5 steps per degree of rotation. If you flick the wheel 180 degrees within half a second, you need to make sure that it won't miss any step of the encoder, cause if it happens too often it could result in a weird offset from straight.
Can you explain how you got the PC to read the input from the potentiometers. Im trying to do this but don't know what code to write for the computer to regonize this as a controller :( I'm lost id be willing to talk to anyone over discord if they know how

Those springs are not enough for the immersion, apart from that build quality is top notch
just buy a damper and increment in the project
I need a set of pedals for a spare gaming rig - something to use with Mudrunner/Euro Truck and the like. These look fine for that purpose.
