What can you tell us about mushroom coffee Dr. Gundry. 🤔🙏🏼☺️
Excellent information!!!
This is a very important video. Thank you!
Congratulations on another book! I can’t wait to read it.
I am very thankful for you bringing us a better health life. I believe listening to your podcast has enriched my healthy life style. I am 77 and always fed my family with heathly foods an treats. We have to be aware of what we put in our mouth. Thanks! For what you do for us
Thanks for the info Dr. Grundy
Perfect, thank you Doctor
Hello, in one of your future videos, I would love to hear your thoughts on: acrylamide (a known carcinogen) in coffee, diterpenes, and acidification (lowers pH). Until then, the question of coffee remains open for me. But I do love drinking it)
Thank you very much!
Great tie!
Thank U Doc. You save lives. Like you know...a real doctor!
Thanks for bringing free knowledge to the public, doctor! You look great in that awesome tie and suit! Love from Turkey 💚
Wooow thank you for your best advice for the paplic
appreciate, Sir !
Thank you Doct Gundry!! Regards from South America!
Thaaank you dear Dr. Gundry and Team!
You answered many issues and questions I had (polyphenols in light roast, LDL(serum) effect).
For anybody else here, please keep in mind that blood tests measure acute levels of something which is in the blood right now! It doesn’t say what the body is doing with the compounds actually (like detox, burn, transport, whatever smart things it is doing). ❤
Thank you Doctor. Regards from Australia 🦘🇦🇺🤓
Thanks !!!!!
Good one 👍 Tq
Thanks
How does cold brewing effect polyphenols? Ground coffee is immersed in room temperature water for 8 to 12 hours (or more depending on the recipe) and then strained.
Well explained thank you very much..now onwards add any substance in coffee ❤
You're the best 👏🙏
Hi, what a great explanation in one video
about every thing we need to know about microbes and what they like to eat 👍🌹😊
We had great difficulties avoiding certain foods when we were starting to improve our eating habits.
It was difficult going past the bananas and not buying any, similarly with bread.
One item that I found helpful are.
Lentil ‘cakes’ made by Kallo. They resemble rice cakes, but only contain lentils.
There’s 4g of carbs in each cake and 0.1g of sugar,1.8g of protein and no salt.
I probably have only one at a time and spread plenty of marmite, a moderate size piece of Cheddar cheese, and a moderate amount of goat’s butter on top. I cut it into four pieces, and it’s an excellent alternative to a sandwich.
Now I don’t even notice the bread and the bananas as I walk around the Supermarket…!!
They aren’t on my shopping list….
Thanks Dr. Guidry,
The only way I really enjoy my coffee is by adding no milk, and no sugar. Anything else added to it ruins the taste for me. Now that I saw you video, I'm happy I am doing it right all along. :)

Thank you very much for these insights... What are your thoughts about caffeine in coffee?
for everybody wit stomach acid problems: if you have lots of acid, drink robusta dominants coffee mix. if you dont have enough somatch acid, drink arabica dominant coffee mix, for more stomach acid.
score one for MCT powder in my coffee, love my full cream but I am switching
Thanks Dr. Grundy. I just realized thanks to this video that the strong brew feature I use on my Keurig K-Mini Plus Single Server Coffee Maker doesn't just make my coffee taste better, but also increases the antioxidants. Another reason to buy a Keurig machine with a strong brew feature and use it all the time like I do.
Dr.Gundy is addicted to coffee the same as the rest of us including you. He just won't admit it is bad for you like any other drug addict.
Cool glasses!
Thanks for these wonderful insights. This is something every coffee lover needs to know!!
Love my green tea ❤
I do love lightly roasted coffee. Recently found organic from Mexico mountains somewhere. Delish 😋
I've discovered yerba mate recently. Like coffee, it also has lots of polyphenols. More than coffee.
The psychological effects are better too, in my experience. And the downsides and negative side effects of coffee don't happen. Dr. Andrew Huberman has also made the switch from coffee to yerba mate, as have many others. Lionel Messi and his team swear by it as a performance enhancer. They like Canarias's "sin palo" (no twigs, leaves only). I do too. Highly recommended. 🌻
(It shouldn't be consumed super hot, though. Comfortably warm is healthier than tongue-burningly hot. It can also be cold-brewed and made into an iced tea or cold drink.
No special equipment is necessary. The "bombilla" and gourd are unnecessary. It can be prepared just like coffee or loose-leaf tea.)
I agree that coffee has many side effects. I find that everyone riding the coffee health wave are addicted just like the rest of us that drink coffee, but they want to give in to the addiction including Dr. Gundry. Dr. Berg finely came out and admitted he too is addicted to coffee. I am going to try the yerba mate I hope it doesn't have wheat in it, can't have wheat. Oh I just researched it and see that it is a plant in it's self, so I don't have to worry about wheat....yay. Thank you for posting the info.
Problem is coffee taste better than Yerba Mate and is like wine. Yerba Mate taste bitter. It takes time for the average person to get used to the taste and enjoy it especially without putting milk and sweetener in it. Otherwise I agree with you. Yerba Mate is called the drink of Gods in South America, and is Argentina's national drink.
@@OsAbliNgin911 I'm working on it. There are ways of making it taste better. Here's one (among a number of others): Start with one of your favorite ice creams (one of mine is pistachio, no sugar, low fat; virtually everyone has some favorites - just choose one). Put it in a nice little bowl, cup or mug (again, choose a favorite, to raise the level of the presentation or the aesthetics, which adds to the experience). Let it sit and soften for a bit. Then stir in some yerba mate (powdered, without stems - or "sin palo”). You can eat it right away, or let it sit and soften the yerba. I enjoy it both ways - soft or crunchy. Dynamite. Better than any coffee I've ever had.
@@OsAbliNgin911 One aspect of the bitterness issue is that some people are much more sensitive to bitterness than others. They have a different density of taste buds. About 20% of people are considered highly sensitive. There is a spectrum. Some have moderate sensitivity, some have low sensitivity to bitterness.
There is also the psychological side. Some people react very negatively to bitterness. Others don't react in the same way, even if they are just as sensitive.
Personally, when I taste "bitterness" it's no big deal. In fact, I mildly like it. I know others who outright enjoy it.
So there are different preferences and experiences. For those who dislike the bitterness, there are various options. You just have to find the ones that work for you. Dave Mate ("Circle of Drink" ) has at least one video on reducing the bitterness. A pinch of salt or baking soda is one approach.
The longer it steeps, and the higher the temperature, the more the bitter compounds are released. The lower the temperature and the shorter the steeping time, the lower the levels of bitter compounds released into the tea.
Another approach is to add the dry yerba mate to your favorite smoothie or smoothies, and blend it in along with the rest of the ingredients. Either the powdered form or the stem-free "sin palo" type will work well. The "con palo" will probably leave chunks. The others just smooth out and blend right in.
light roast vs dark roast totally makes sense. darker roast is going to destroy more of those good chemicals--polyphenols and flavinoids--in the bean than a lighter roast. Besides the health benefit, lighter roasts also have a flavor benefit: You can taste more of flavors that are in the bean. Darker roast pretty much all you taste is the roast, which to many people tastes just burnt.
What about instant coffee?
@@orion9k besides the taste bearing only a faint resemblance to the real thing, I would suspect instant doesn't have near the polyphenols and flavinoids that real coffee has. My suggestion would be to buy whole bean coffee from a local roaster, try a medium roast first. If you like that, you could try a light roast although some are too light for my taste. Light roasts tend to make coffee that's more acidic (sour) than I prefer.
@@pimacanyon6208 My current instant coffee is also medium roasted, also organic, I think it taste fine, a bit mild even with some cream added. But I think the sour taste comes when the water you add is too hot, that's at least what I was told.
@@orion9k well if you like it the way it is, sounds like you don't need to make any changes. enjoy.
*Would love to get Saladino and you in a room together, especially because you disagree on coffee but agree on LDL.*
Great video. Just to confirm, I can add olive oil and MCT oil and still have the full benefits you’ve described?
Great scientific explanation Doctor 🙏🙏🙏
You never mentioned anything about cold brewed coffee...But you have convinced me to stop drinking dark roasted coffee!
I find totally unroasted green coffee in tea bags; this is probably the healthiest way to consume coffee.
Thanks, dear Dr., Gundry! I'm just wondering to get maximum health benefits and a strong flavor of coffee. How do I make my coffee French press or Camex ? Btw, I always drink Verve brand light medium roasted coffee.
Thank you Dr. Gundry for always giving us great information.
Oh dear - pretty much when I found Dr Gundry, I found darker roast coffee beans - I grind the beans and use refillable coffee pods - even less polyphenols due to not enough exposure to the water... again, oh dear - I add a splash of cream... Coincidentally, over the past week I've been looking at interesting/lovely teapots and stove-top coffee makers to add to my store's range of products - the 90s saw my daily use of stainless steel Italian stove top coffee making, but 2000 I purchased my first commercial coffee machine and rarely use the stove top
Appreciate the info on coffee as I do love my coffee in the morning here in the Philippines. They actually grow and roast coffee here.

@@peterbadman6668 It does not surprise me since my favorite rice is filipino rice and it is not available via export sadly. There are many treasures I had never heard before frequenting the Manila fruit stands.
Dr grundy says that putting milk in your coffee prevents the polyphenols from being absorbed, because the fats and proteins in the milk encase the polyphenols. But I wonder: isn't the protein and fat broken down and digested as it would normally be, thus releasing the polyphenols themselves to be absorbed also. Anybody know how that works out. But great informative podcasts always.
What about using green coffee beans? And what about cold brewed coffee?
Hi, Dr G, please talk about Green tea.
Thanks for this info can Splenda be used instead of sugar?
Richer the roaster, thank ya very mucha ☕
Canada has some great chocolate products too besides maple syrup.
What is the best organic coffee to get? Pods
Thanks Doc, best teacher in the world. Great Job! Keep going. The benefits I get from your advice has no price, My health life has change for good since I follow you. Whish you the Best!!!
Many thanks Dr Gundry for this informative podcast. I recently bought a genuine La Marzocco Espresso machine & am concerned that the majority of people who have purchased this machine are happy to make coffee with pretty milk patterns on top. My wife is allergic to dairy products mainly because of the casein (lectins) that you have enlightened us about so we just enjoy our long blacks & the polyphenol rich crema on top ... Thanks again Dr Gundry.
How about butter?I Love it iny coffee.

Congratulations on your super machine.I do like Machiatto. However, I use coco cream or coc milk as a substitute most of the time
Why would adding milk to coffee block the polyphenol content due to a protein but not when you pour olive oil on a steak?
Thats a good question
Wow, great information! How about using the cashew milk? I make it myself with just cashews and water. This milk makes coffee taste wonderful! I do not like straight coffee and I know that if I try I will just quit coffee all together.
Quit coffee then dr gundry said NO to cashews, peanuts.yes to pistachios Brazil, walnuts, macadamia nuts all good.
I've learned so much from you. Thank you so much!
I’ve been having prostate issues and was told coffee irritates the bladder and/or prostate. Is there any truth to this? Thank you in advance.
Any replacement for coffee with similar advantages? My whole family is not really into coffee
what are the best foods other than light brew coffee to get the polyphenols?
Your podcasts are so informative, I have learned such a lot! An unrelated question to this particular podcast but I just wanted to know how our ancestors ("cavemen") were able to eat red meat without the issues of neu5gc? Or was it an issue for them, even then? Or do we not know? I have limited my animal protein and feel good, but i am curious about this point...
Beasts, injuries, and infections did not give neu5gc enough time to act in the short life span (30-40 yrs?) these people had. And if it did act, their bones do not tell us the whole horrible story. The perfect health of our primitive ancestors is a myth.

Does adding MCT oil to coffee reduce the raising of blood sugar?
Would it help to soak the coffee grounds overnight and then make coffee in the morning? Would that increase the polyphenols?
What about the nitro cold brew at Starbucks is that light or dark and how do they brew it? Does it absorb as many polyphenols??? Wow I’m such a fan after discovering your videos! I have tried a lot and with success on low carb keto and even vegetarian and vegan I see a lot of what the benefits might have been just the lowered lectins. THANK YOU !
Cream coffee after lunch is like a dessert to me lol.
What does Dr. Gundry recommend? What type of coffee? For pods?
Dang! I hate light roast coffee but I perk my coffee for 20 minutes so I suppose there’s one plus. I can probably switch to medium roast but blonde roast is just gross IMO. I guess cream is a no go but wonder if butter is okay?

Not really get better quality it has too much chemical mega production
Whats yoir opinion on nesspresso expresso in capsules
I can’t drink coffee, but I love it. It causes physical problems for me. Is there something else that contains as much polyphenol?
They hv something called yerba matte. I believe, this can help you and has more benefits than coffee w out side affects. Just look it up.
@@trskingwhere can we buy this?
You say nothing about instant coffee granules from a jar, which may be out of fashion these days, but it is still what I drink. Are any health benefits available from instant, or is this only for people with coffee machines, oodles of time and wide pockets?
I think melk is really hard to find even if one wanted to have some for their coffee.
Thanks for the video doc.
But how about adding goat or sheep milk with fat > 3%. Is it harmful in the same way?
How do I add a little milk foam to my coffee ?
So a little cream or powdered creamer is no good ? ( even very little )

What are your thoughts on a sip of extra virgin olive oil in the coffee and than blending it? I am completely "addicted" to drink it like that in the morning. It tastes amazing (after few days you love it), becomes "creamy" and I have the strong feeling it helps to prolong the time until you get hungry (good for intermittent fasting). Does it actually break the fast and is it interrupting athophogy?
Thank you for your great work!
Yes, I recently started making my coffee with olive oil and coconut milk or MCT oil too. It's real good and creamy like with milk - I think it culd be described as a "coffee with milk" alternative for those who love to add milk. Interested to know about it breaking fast or not too. And I would like o hear Dr Gundry's thoughts on this too.
MCT and Olive oil will break a fast. If you're drinking that in the morning, you're not fasting
Theoretically the threshold is 50 calories to break a fast, if that’s anything to go by
@@itakarerio2821you might break the fast, but if its only a few calories, the body wont be long before it goes back into autophagy.

Dr. Gundry, what about using a French Press? I've been told using one is bad for one's health. It seems if using a French Press with boiling water and leaving the grounds in as long as you want should be beneficial.
Thank you Dr gundry very much for a scientific explanation on preparing coffee, Canadian and American coffee taste great too.

I tried your recommendation at the end, putting espresso in coconut milk. It made me sick to my stomach. Also, I once read, that espresso is the healthier option, when drinking coffee. It was said, that because it is quickly steamed, and not soaked, there would be less harmful things. So I guess you meant, to only use organic coffee?
