  • In this episode, Tanner shares his story about growing up in a very religious community, finding the Book of Mormon musical, converting to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and being kicked out of his house for his conversion. He talks about this mission for the Church (otherwise known as the Mormon Church) and his decision to move to Utah.
Tanner talks about seeing the Book of Mormon musical and realizing that he was interested to meet a real 'Mormon.' He went to a local church building where he finally learned about the Church and where his testimony began to grow.

Please don't join. I guarantee that they are not sharing what it is you're actually joining. I was a very devout missionary and I know this for a fact. They are purposefully taught very manipulative tactics to get you to believe the story. Please don't join, for your own sanity

@@jonbaker476 The angle Moroni said to Joseph one day that his name would be used for good and evil, I know with all certainty that this church is the true church of Jesus Christ, even the same church Christ established on the earth when He was here 2000 years ago. I know that God knows how much I love Him and His church, and I cannot deny. I have had thousands of blessings throughout my life that I knew God and Christ were watching over me, I know this is true in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Big part of my conversion was South Park and how much I knew the book of Mormon and the whole religion thing was false. And how much I was proven wrong by heavenly father.

Lol I have a running joke with my brother (old school Roman Catholic) that one day I'm gonna be able to tell him: "Dude, mom tried to tell you, I tried to tell you, and even Southpark tried to tell you, even though they got the hell part wrong... I TOLD YOU SO"
(Let it be known this is a twisted humor joke, and I'm not actually going to be saying "I told you so" to anyone. 🙃)

Tanner, thank you so much for sharing your conversion story with us. My wife is a convert to the church; her father who is basically agnostic wouldn't allow her to join the church, so she waited until she was 18, then was baptized. She didn't have a car, so she rode her bicycle several miles to church every Sunday. Joining the church is one of the best things she ever did! I look forward to following you on your UA-cam channel!

My parents didn't care, they were non-denominational Christian. (Non-denominational is a denomination, I know it's silly, they original Churches split from the Church of Christ over music)
Growing-up, I saw an LDS commercial and asked about it. Mother said that it was another group who just believe something different. (Same thing as when I saw a picture of St. Peter on the upside down cross. That is how he was Martyred, but only the Catholics talk about it.)
As long as I was going to Church, they were happy.

Great testimony, Tanner. I lost my fiance, (a redhead no less) by joining the Church. She was and is Southern Baptist "royalty" as her oldest son was married by the President of that church. The crazy thing is that she would fit in perfectly in the true Church, but she just refuses to consider it. I learned so much spiritually from her during our time together but she declined to continue learning herself. I also had a miraculous experience on the day I saw the "Book of Mormon", it was a great testimony to me.

What a great story and guy! Man I love when people find the truth and they just know it's truth. I think of Bill Carpenter's conversion story with this. Go listen to it if you haven't, it is one of my favorite conversion stories I have ever heard! His parents were going to disown him essentially over being baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he was in his turmoil of course not wanting to hurt them and the pain etc. But his support members told him, something along these lines, we know you love your family. But you can either say I'm going to love you for this life, or I am going to love you for eternity. And the blessings and revelations poured out on him were so incredible! Truth is truth even when many others can't see it yet.

It’s sad that people will judge you for things you can’t control. It’s not like he wanted to come home from his mission 3 times, who does?! But sometimes you can’t help it. And the tattoos thing, that’s so shallow, literally!!! And plus he probably got them before he knew better. Some people, ugh. They just don’t understand. Life isn’t that black and white, just bc you came home from your mission early or have tattoos, that doesn’t make you a bad person or worth any less than someone who served a full mission and has nothing on their skin. Some of the best human beings I know aren’t members or even religious at all. But they’re amazing and I love them and I know God does too.

What an interesting and startling conversion story! Tanner's story is very interesting because he is a very articulate and a charismatic young man! He seems very sincere as well. What is startling is the absence of Jesus in his story.
I have never heard a conversion story that left Jesus by the wayside!
I watched and waited hoping to hear something, but not one mention of the name Jesus!!
THE NAME THAT IS ABOVE EVERY NAME!
THE ONLY NAME ABLE TO SAVE!
He was converted to what? The LDS church? That is it! This is shameful!
How naïve and gullible can people be?
This truly must be the last generation.
For all the world seems deceived into believing lies! Just as God's word teaches.
This seems to be a trend in religious systems today. The focus is on everything but Jesus!
The focus is on music, feelings, church affiliation, self exaltation, having your best life now etc.
These are the god's and idols of this last generation! So sad!
    All heaven just weeps!

B.D.B. 1978 well apparently you weren’t listening because he does say Jesus right before he gets baptized. Also what do you even MEAN dude. The entire gospel is about the plan of salvation which is literally all because of Jesus he is the great mediator in the final day the only reason we can get to heaven. He is the center of the LDS religion no higher name besides god.
