The reason Hoopa sucked so much is because the executives ruined it. It was supposed to be a comfy movie about Hoopa finding its way in the world and being taught how to fit in by its caretakers, but then some executives came along and they said, "we've got these games called Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire coming out and you can catch all these legendaries in them, so we're going to need you to go ahead and put a Legendary Pokemon kaiju battle in your movie to make kids buy our games." That's why the kaijus just stop the movie dead, they're a plot tumor of the worst kind. The sad part is that the movie they wanted to make would probably have been good, but no, we've got to have money, so we get the worst one instead. Volcanion had so little meddling that it makes me think even the executives realize how badly they destroyed the Hoopa movie with their crap.
Honestly, that explanation summarises a lot of late stage Pokemon: It could have been really good, but it has to be milked for every last cent, regardless of how that impacts the quality. Hopefully ZA is the Volcanion of the games.
I have a deep hate for the Hoopa movie NOT just because it's bad, but because I want on a 5 hour road trip and my brother was watching the movie, but for an hour straight he kept rewinding the same 2 minute scene and it was driving me absolutely insane.

For the former, Ash, at least according to the review, _did_ freeze to death, but got revived momentarily afterwards. While Ash _almost_ got erased from existance in the latter case, but didn't fully (he was still moving and conscious when the un-erasing happened). So the difference between him being dead for any length of time and him _not_ being dead for any length of time is the difference between a 5/5 and a 4/5 on the mortality scale regardless of the scope of the danger.

That part in the Volcanian movie where Meowth was translating Magearnas heart while she was tortured, saying she was crying and suffering. Then, after when they used the weapon, Magearnas' heart died, and Meowth started crying cause he couldn't hear her anymore. Dang, Pokemon, why are you doing this to me!😭
I’m actually really happy that victini and reshiram got such a high rating, as that was my favorite movie growing up and it’s still one of my favorites to this day (tied with mystery of mew because I think the tree of beginning is cool and it has Cradily in it) Though I like the victini and zekrom version slightly more because Damien has a Reuniclus in that version and Reuniclus is a peak Pokémon.
If I remember, the reason why the three legendary dogs show up is because Zoroark is disguising herself as easy of them to hunt down celebi for the villain who somehow accidentally got the power to see the future and craves more of it

The Darkrai Movie was definitely my main Pokemon movie as a kid. And I vividly remember being so hyped up with the Cartoon Network trailers for Arceus. Still remember coming home that day and waiting. I think the Zoroark Movie was the last Pokemon movie I ever watched. I have no idea whats in store after.

I genuinly am confused how the Sinnoh movies spaced out the theme songs, cause sinnoh has 4 theme songs/Seasons I think, but the Darkrai Movie has "We will be heroes" as the theme song despite being the first movie, entirely skipping the first theme song, so now I wonder what happened for the next 3 movies and what their songs were. Rise of Darkrai and Zoroark Master of illusions are the 2 best ones for me personally, they are arguably with best action, animation and well flashed out characters (Arceus movie was cool as well)
"Giratina and the sky warrior" was the only Pokémon movie that aired on TV in my country while I was growing up. I cannot explain the power this movie had over me. I was obsessed! I loved the imagery, the plot, the cute little hedgehog pokemon! I dreamed about being Shaymin and flying around my neighborhood! Nostalgia talking 100% but it's still my favorite pokemon movie!
The Volcanion movie is funny! So much slapstick potential in Ash being dragged around by a giant steampunk monster with the temperament of a grumpy grandpa, and they take full advantage of it!
I dont know who you are. you randomly dropped in my reccomended feed. but the two parts you've made of this three part series have been great. really makes me want to go rewatch some of these movies I havent seen in 10 years or whatnot. The dragon force is from the dragon vein concept in taoism/onmyou/feng shui. So it's very in theme with how the zekrom and reshiram represented the duality in yin and yang. And in taoism and friends there's this concept of everything being composed of 5 elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. And the elements interact with eachother in two? different ways, one being reinforcing and the other being reactive. So probably what happens is that the ancient battle between the two dragons caused probably 2 of the elements in the dragon force to become overactive and break the balance of the five elements flowing through the dragon force so that they flow in the reactive way, causing destruction to the land. and the castle acts sort of like some kind of massive sword shaped acupuncture needle that acupunctures the pressure point of the land to rebalance it or something. Like the basics of fengshui is to get the 5 elements balanced and flowing properly which causes them to reinforce eachother and be like an infinite good vibes generator or whatever.
A lot of people hate on the victini movie but that film installed both my love for macaroons and victini into me that I can't help but love it even if it's mainly nostalgia talking

The Pokemon Go Sinnoh event earlier this year got me to rewatch “The Rise of Darkrai” it’s possibly my favorite (Gen 4 movies connecting was peak) And Yeah the Baron licking Jessie was WILD Also The Bangles did the ending song Crazy

I'm genuinely surprised how many of the movies from this era I'd seen: all the gen 4 and two of the 6 movies. I was NOT watching either of the anime series at the time. They must've aired on tv or something...? In other news, still hotly anticipating/dreading your thoughts on The Power of Us. IMO it is by far the best movie in the series. If not for Pokemon the Origin, it would be the single best piece of animated pokemon content.

pokemon black and white movies are both with the same story but slight different elements in them, essentially two different versions of the same movie will play based on the theater (in japan don't know about world wide) you went to.

Great video, but they actually started the process of integrating new Pokémon in Gen 1. Ho-Oh, Togepi and Marill were in the show, Togepi also in the first movie. The second movie featured only Togepi, Lugia and Slowking and was the second Gen 1 movie. The anime was in the orange islands season during the time of release in japan. My local library also had the manga version of Darkrai! I thought it was cool that in that version, Ash had a bit more of an arc of mistrusting Darkrai at first and then feeling guilty about it later.
I wish you talked more about how the Reshiram and Zekrom movies were *shot for shot* the same EXACT movie, but with the Pokemon switched. I sat down to watch it over a decade ago thinking that I would get an entirely different experience, but nope.

The two dragons would explain a lot about me, to be honest. I've missed a detail about how Team Rocket sometimes joins in on the fun and basically save the world/the day. Like in 2000, they're incredible all movie long. And in Lucario, they're just part of the team and are the first ones to release their pokemon before dying. I'd personally give extra points if the Team Rocket manage to get into the plot and/or bring out some emotion, they're basically Ash parents.
I did something similiar back then, I've watched all pokemon movies except everything after M19 (Volcanion movie) and I relate to them getting mind-numbing if you binge watch them back-to-back. They're still pretty good tho. Also, I agree that the theme song from Victini and Zekrom/Reshiram slaps.
I enjoyed the Hoopa movie myself, though maybe the legendary spam was a little bit over the top. I'm kind of a sucker for the villain-heel-turn kind of story; Hoopa was just a mischievous creature, who didn't really understand the impact it was having on others, or simply not caring, until it was taught the respect for life and other people. Though I can certainly understand how people might instinctually hate Hoopa for simply being annoying lol
I wonder if anyone in the comments mentioned Mewtwo Returns, which is like the sequel to Pokemon the First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back, the movie where Mewtwo is hiding out in a crater lake in the Johto region and Giovanni tries to mess with his tropical paradise where he is hanging out with his clone pokemon friends. Anyway, if that wasn't on your list, you should check it out.
In the near ending of Arceus and the Jewel of Life, Ash-Satoshi Ketchum almost got wiped out in existence after Pikachu got wiped out, even his companions Dawn and Brock were almost wiped out in a time traveling existence.
While I watched many of the Classic Era films when I was really young, I don't think they got really good until the Hoenn films. Along with the Sinnoh films, are where I think were the Golden Era of Pokemon films. The animation felt like they had a comparable anime movie quality, the fights were dynamic and a spectacle to watch, the plots weren't afraid to put Ash & the gang in deadly scenarios or even kill them and the movie characters left an impact on me.
Gotta say I really loved the Old Testament vibes of Jewel of Life (Arceus being a mix of a kind and wrathful god being chief among that), thats something you rarely see compared to media with other religious vibes (IE Greek, Egyptian, Bhuddist, Shinto, I could go on).
To add to your comment at 6:24 regarding a trend of showing pokemon from the next generation. This is something pokemon has been doing since the first movie. In the first movie there is a battle at the beginning with Ash and a Rydon. At the time Pokemon: The first Movie was released, there was no knowledge or info on Gen 2 yet in North America.
The cool thing about the movies teasing future Pokemon is that the spin-off games in particular love doing the same thing like Pokemon Ranger and Mystery Dungeon 1 both have gen 4 mons as gen 3 games, either as statues, mentioned in passing or other ways you just get random gen 4 cameos. I still remember getting the Bonsly statue and Lucario statue in Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue team. Red Rescue Team came out a year before Gen 4 btw.

Here I go again, rating the pokemon movies based solely off of the vibes I remember. Now for the era I grew up with: Rise of Darkrai- 11/10- Is it as objectively good as Unown or Mystery of Mew? Nope. Am I gonna give it the same score because of nostalgia. Absolutely! In all seriousness, I think after watching this like two years ago I really came to appreciate the surprising quality these movies hold, especially relative to the anime at the time. The location is beautiful, the soundtrack is godly (the Darkrai theme has me ascend to godhood), the setpieces and scale are otherworldly, the action is epic, the emotion is impeccable. I could write a whole ass essay on why I think this movie is an amazing work of art...I won't but TLDR my favourite of the pokemon movies. And yea 800% of that is nostalgia and bias Giratina and the Sky Warrior -8/10- This featuring my favourite pokemon, Giratina and portraying it as a menace to society, earns it a bonus point. Also the title is awesome. Doesn't possess the same epic scale as the last one but it's rally damn enjoyable. Love how sassy Shaymin is in its base form and that dynamic with Ash, Giratina is awesome and as flat as Zero is, he is a delightfully evil character. Good pacing, good action and surprisingly funny. Love how Team Rocket end up being that guy's right hand man. Yes this is nostalgia again Jewel of Life- 7/10- What if Ash went back in time to meet Yugi Muto to stop god destroying the world. I appreciate how they made this one a trilogy, it does feel a bit off with the way the previous stories tie into this one but it's really cool they bothered at all. The kaiju fights at the beginning are cool but the later ones are relegated to off-screen. Arceus is less of a god and more of an angy space llama. But the twist is fun and the end where god dies and our protagonists get erased from time is really dark. In general I love the dire stakes here. It's fun, if a bit cliche. And I promise this is the last one where nostalgia plays a major role, I'm really attached to this trilogy Master of Illusions- 7/10 - Idk if this is a hot take but I really like a lot of stuff in this movie, as in best of the franchise material. First off, Pokemon Boccer is awesome and I'm upset this is the only place we see it, it looks so damn fun. Second, the villain, I adore him. His concept is so cool, a guy who becomes an unstoppable tycoon through stealing time powers to peer into the future and constantly goes to siphon more like a drug. Love the role his visions play in setting up events in the story and the manner in which he handles Celebi is monstrous. Feels way more horrible than in 4ever, it's great. Finally the relationship between Zoroark and Zorua is really cute and sweet, mumma Z's gotta protect her pups. Outside of that and some fun action and set-pieces with the illusions the rest is pretty okay. But with some tweaking this could be one of the best, defo one of the more looked over movies. Black/White - 10/10 - Speaking of over-looked, I think this one is stupidly underrated. I don't like the BW anime in general and am not the fondest of this generation of movies, so understand when I say this is Spell of the Unown levels of awesome. Like that film it feels like the concept for aa Ghibli film, it's outstanding. What I love most is how it distills BW's themes into something original yet fitting. The legend of the dragons and the princes/heroes, the use of Victini being trapped away, the dragonforce representing nature and harmony and especially the version differences between the movies, which they did not at all have to do but did. Victini's stoy is tragic and I fell so madly in love with the lil' guy. Also Damon is a fantastic protagonist and my hot-take is that he makes a better villain than Ghetsis in gen 5 because he's actually interesting and fits the theme of truth vs ideals far better, but that's just me. All in all, this one i a highly recomended watch for those that haven't Kyurem and the Swords of Justice - 5.5/10 As inoffensive as a pokemon movie can be. There's some decent action and the last fight is awesome but it does feel like this is Keldeo's movie featuring Ash and co, they don't do much that matters too much. And the pacing of this film is a nightmare we move between scenes so very quickly, nothing really has time to breathe and you're not really given time to endear yourself to Keldeo outside of flashbacks. I do like how Kyurem is a ruthless mfer who rolls up and destroys shit because Keldeo didn't surrender, I do like badass legendries tearing up shop. But there isn;t much ti say about this one, it is one of the pokemon movies of all time Genesect and the Legend Awakened - 4/10- I don't remember liking this one but I also generally don't remember it more than the others. I just remember finding it very boring and lacking any defining moments but I think I was on an XY hating phase. Given the review in this video I might want to rewatch it to see if my opinion on it has changed Diance and the Cocoon of Destruction - 6.5/10- A better Kyurem and the Swords of Justice having the same breakneck pace. But the side character designs are so insanely cool and there are nice character interactions, if a bit less memorable. But the highlight for me is Yveltal waking up and basically killing everyone, giant birb shoots giant laser ray is a lot of fun, especially when it took down that weaponised aircraft. And the scene where Diance mega evolves is awesome Hoopa and teh Clash of Ages - 3/10- More like dear Arceus this movie takes ages. The worst pokemon movie for being a slow, boring mess of a film. Okay it's not horrendous but considering how much marketing and hype they put behind this film it's not very good. Hoopa is so annoying repeating the same lines over and over, the characters are hella plain and the kaiju battles are extremely boring with them essentially being a largely drawn out chase sequence where not much happens. Only part I like are the flashbacks, Hoopa's backstory is fun and cool and them being taught to appreciate life is sweet. But to sit through this whole movie for these moments? No thank you. Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel - 7/10 - Just very fun and sweet. I love Volcanion as a character and having him be bound to Ash leads to fun situations, Megearna is adorably sweet and I adore the steampunk aesthetic. Also there's some amazing action, this to Mega Evolution is what Hoopa to legendaries should have been. I do feel there aren't as many stand-out moments that stick out in my mind but it's a pleasant watch.
Zoroark Master of Illusions and the gen 5 anime are the very reason why I am a Pokemon fan today. It also cemented Zorua/Zoruark as my favorite Pokemon of all time. Peak movie.
I was so excited for the hoopa movie as a kid, Target demographic, perfect age range for the concept of bringing back all of these legendary pokémon and making them fight, and even I remember being disappointed at that age, when I didn't really dislike very many movies at all because critical thinking hadn't developed yet. Childhood me knew what was up.

For the former, Ash, at least according to the review, _did_ freeze to death, but got revived momentarily afterwards. While Ash _almost_ got erased from existance in the latter case, but didn't fully (he was still moving and conscious when the un-erasing happened). So the difference between him being dead for any length of time and him _not_ being dead for any length of time is the difference between a 5/5 and a 4/5 on the mortality scale regardless of the scope of the danger.

That part in the Volcanian movie where Meowth was translating Magearnas heart while she was tortured, saying she was crying and suffering. I’m actually really happy that victini and reshiram got such a high rating, as that was my favorite movie growing up and it’s still one of my favorites to this day (tied with mystery of mew because I think the tree of beginning is cool and it has Cradily in it)
Though I like the victini and zekrom version slightly more because Damien has a Reuniclus in that version and Reuniclus is a peak Pokémon.
If I remember, the reason why the three legendary dogs show up is because Zoroark is disguising herself as easy of them to hunt down celebi for the villain who somehow accidentally got the power to see the future and craves more of it

I genuinly am confused how the Sinnoh movies spaced out the theme songs, cause sinnoh has 4 theme songs/Seasons I think, but the Darkrai Movie has "We will be heroes" as the theme song despite being the first movie, entirely skipping the first theme song, so now I wonder what happened for the next 3 movies and what their songs were. Or maybe the zoroark movie just didn't have a theme song.

"Giratina and the sky warrior" was the only Pokémon movie that aired on TV in my country while I was growing up. I cannot explain the power this movie had over me. I was obsessed! I loved the imagery, the plot, the cute little hedgehog pokemon! I dreamed about being Shaymin and flying around my neighborhood! Nostalgia talking 100% but it's still my favorite pokemon movie!
The Volcanion movie is funny! So much slapstick potential in Ash being dragged around by a giant steampunk monster with the temperament of a grumpy grandpa, and they take full advantage of it!

Honestly I think the Sinoh movies were the peak of the Pokémon movies they were all consistently very good.
The dragon force is from the dragon vein concept in taoism/onmyou/feng shui. So it's very in theme with how the zekrom and reshiram represented the duality in yin and yang.
And in taoism and friends there's this concept of everything being composed of 5 elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. And the elements interact with eachother in two? different ways, one being reinforcing and the other being reactive.
So probably what happens is that the ancient battle between the two dragons caused probably 2 of the elements in the dragon force to become overactive and break the balance of the five elements flowing through the dragon force so that they flow in the reactive way, causing destruction to the land. and the castle acts sort of like some kind of massive sword shaped acupuncture needle that acupunctures the pressure point of the land to rebalance it or something.
Like the basics of fengshui is to get the 5 elements balanced and flowing properly which causes them to reinforce eachother and be like an infinite good vibes generator or whatever.
A lot of people hate on the victini movie but that film installed both my love for macaroons and victini into me that I can't help but love it even if it's mainly nostalgia talking

pokemon black and white movies are both with the same story but slight different elements in them, essentially two different versions of the same movie will play based on the theater (in japan don't know about world wide) you went to.

they actually started the process of integrating new Pokémon in Gen 1. Ho-Oh, Togepi and Marill were in the show, Togepi also in the first movie. The second movie featured only Togepi, Lugia and Slowking and was the second Gen 1 movie. The anime was in the orange islands season during the time of release in japan.
The new games (Silver and Gold) released 3 month after "Pokémon the Movie 2000", which btw isn't the japanese nor the german name of the movie (I'm german).

I thought it was cool that in that version, Ash had a bit more of an arc of mistrusting Darkrai at first and then feeling guilty about it later.

The two dragons would explain a lot about me, to be honest.
I've missed a detail about how Team Rocket sometimes joins in on the fun and basically save the world/the day. Like in 2000, they're incredible all movie long. And in Lucario, they're just part of the team and are the first ones to release their pokemon before dying. I'd personally give extra points if the Team Rocket manage to get into the plot and/or bring out some emotion, they're basically Ash parents.
I did something similiar back then, I've watched all pokemon movies except everything after M19 (Volcanion movie) and I relate to them getting mind-numbing if you binge watch them back-to-back. They're still pretty good tho.
Also, I agree that the theme song from Victini and Zekrom/Reshiram slaps.

I enjoyed the Hoopa movie myself, though maybe the legendary spam was a little bit over the top. I'm kind of a sucker for the villain-heel-turn kind of story; Hoopa was just a mischievous creature, who didn't really understand the impact it was having on others, or simply not caring, until it was taught the respect for life and other people.
Though I can certainly understand how people might instinctually hate Hoopa for simply being annoying lol
That manga is done by the author who did the Mega Man Battle Network manga and it kicks major ass.
I wonder if anyone in the comments mentioned Mewtwo Returns, which is like the sequel to Pokemon the First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back, the movie where Mewtwo is hiding out in a crater lake in the Johto region and Giovanni tries to mess with his tropical paradise where he is hanging out with his clone pokemon friends.

In the near ending of Arceus and the Jewel of Life, Ash-Satoshi Ketchum almost got wiped out in existence after Pikachu got wiped out, even his companions Dawn and Brock were almost wiped out in a time traveling existence.
While I watched many of the Classic Era films when I was really young, I don't think they got really good until the Hoenn films. Along with the Sinnoh films, are where I think were the Golden Era of Pokemon films. The animation felt like they had a comparable anime movie quality, the fights were dynamic and a spectacle to watch, the plots weren't afraid to put Ash & the gang in deadly scenarios or even kill them and the movie characters left an impact on me.
Gotta say I really loved the Old Testament vibes of Jewel of Life (Arceus being a mix of a kind and wrathful god being chief among that), thats something you rarely see compared to media with other religious vibes (IE Greek, Egyptian, Bhuddist, Shinto, I could go on).
And this guy showed up with this sick custom bong took me out 😂😂
To add to your comment at 6:24 regarding a trend of showing pokemon from the next generation. This is something pokemon has been doing since the first movie. In the first movie there is a battle at the beginning with Ash and a Rydon. At the time Pokemon: The first Movie was released, there was no knowledge or info on Gen 2 yet in North America.

The cool thing about the movies teasing future Pokemon is that the spin-off games in particular love doing the same thing like Pokemon Ranger and Mystery Dungeon 1 both have gen 4 mons as gen 3 games, either as statues, mentioned in passing or other ways you just get random gen 4 cameos. I still remember getting the Bonsly statue and Lucario statue in Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue team. Red Rescue Team came out a year before Gen 4 btw.

Here I go again, rating the pokemon movies based solely off of the vibes I remember. Now for the era I grew up with:
Rise of Darkrai- 11/10- Is it as objectively good as Unown or Mystery of Mew? Nope. Am I gonna give it the same score because of nostalgia. Absolutely! In all seriousness, I think after watching this like two years ago I really came to appreciate the surprising quality these movies hold, especially relative to the anime at the time. The location is beautiful, the soundtrack is godly (the Darkrai theme has me ascend to godhood), the setpieces and scale are otherworldly, the action is epic, the emotion is impeccable. I could write a whole ass essay on why I think this movie is an amazing work of art...I won't but TLDR my favourite of the pokemon movies. And yea 800% of that is nostalgia and bias
Giratina and the Sky Warrior -8/10- This featuring my favourite pokemon, Giratina and portraying it as a menace to society, earns it a bonus point. Also the title is awesome. Doesn't possess the same epic scale as the last one but it's rally damn enjoyable. Love how sassy Shaymin is in its base form and that dynamic with Ash, Giratina is awesome and as flat as Zero is, he is a delightfully evil character. Good pacing, good action and surprisingly funny. Love how Team Rocket end up being that guy's right hand man. Yes this is nostalgia again
Jewel of Life- 7/10- What if Ash went back in time to meet Yugi Muto to stop god destroying the world. I appreciate how they made this one a trilogy, it does feel a bit off with the way the previous stories tie into this one but it's really cool they bothered at all. The kaiju fights at the beginning are cool but the later ones are relegated to off-screen. Arceus is less of a god and more of an angy space llama. But the twist is fun and the end where god dies and our protagonists get erased from time is really dark. In general I love the dire stakes here. It's fun, if a bit cliche. And I promise this is the last one where nostalgia plays a major role, I'm really attached to this trilogy
Master of Illusions- 7/10 - Idk if this is a hot take but I really like a lot of stuff in this movie, as in best of the franchise material. First off, Pokemon Boccer is awesome and I'm upset this is the only place we see it, it looks so damn fun. Second, the villain, I adore him. His concept is so cool, a guy who becomes an unstoppable tycoon through stealing time powers to peer into the future and constantly goes to siphon more like a drug. Love the role his visions play in setting up events in the story and the manner in which he handles Celebi is monstrous. Feels way more horrible than in 4ever, it's great. Finally the relationship between Zoroark and Zorua is really cute and sweet, mumma Z's gotta protect her pups. Outside of that and some fun action and set-pieces with the illusions the rest is pretty okay. But with some tweaking this could be one of the best, defo one of the more looked over movies.
Black/White - 10/10 - Speaking of over-looked, I think this one is stupidly underrated. I don't like the BW anime in general and am not the fondest of this generation of movies, so understand when I say this is Spell of the Unown levels of awesome. Like that film it feels like the concept for aa Ghibli film, it's outstanding. What I love most is how it distills BW's themes into something original yet fitting. The legend of the dragons and the princes/heroes, the use of Victini being trapped away, the dragonforce representing nature and harmony and especially the version differences between the movies, which they did not at all have to do but did. Victini's stoy is tragic and I fell so madly in love with the lil' guy. Also Damon is a fantastic protagonist and my hot-take is that he makes a better villain than Ghetsis in gen 5 because he's actually interesting and fits the theme of truth vs ideals far better, but that's just me. All in all, this one i a highly recomended watch for those that haven't
Kyurem and the Swords of Justice - 5.5/10 As inoffensive as a pokemon movie can be. There's some decent action and the last fight is awesome but it does feel like this is Keldeo's movie featuring Ash and co, they don't do much that matters too much. And the pacing of this film is a nightmare we move between scenes so very quickly, nothing really has time to breathe and you're not really given time to endear yourself to Keldeo outside of flashbacks. I do like how Kyurem is a ruthless mfer who rolls up and destroys shit because Keldeo didn't surrender, I do like badass legendries tearing up shop. But there isn;t much ti say about this one, it is one of the pokemon movies of all time
Genesect and the Legend Awakened - 4/10- I don't remember liking this one but I also generally don't remember it more than the others. I just remember finding it very boring and lacking any defining moments but I think I was on an XY hating phase. Given the review in this video I might want to rewatch it to see if my opinion on it has changed
Diance and the Cocoon of Destruction - 6.5/10- A better Kyurem and the Swords of Justice having the same breakneck pace. But the side character designs are so insanely cool and there are nice character interactions, if a bit less memorable. But the highlight for me is Yveltal waking up and basically killing everyone, giant birb shoots giant laser ray is a lot of fun, especially when it took down that weaponised aircraft. And the scene where Diance mega evolves is awesome
Hoopa and teh Clash of Ages - 3/10- More like dear Arceus this movie takes ages. The worst pokemon movie for being a slow, boring mess of a film. Okay it's not horrendous but considering how much marketing and hype they put behind this film it's not very good. Hoopa is so annoying repeating the same lines over and over, the characters are hella plain and the kaiju battles are extremely boring with them essentially being a largely drawn out chase sequence where not much happens. Only part I like are the flashbacks, Hoopa's backstory is fun and cool and them being taught to appreciate life is sweet. But to sit through this whole movie for these moments? No thank you.
Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel - 7/10 - Just very fun and sweet. I love Volcanion as a character and having him be bound to Ash leads to fun situations, Megearna is adorably sweet and I adore the steampunk aesthetic. Also there's some amazing action, this to Mega Evolution is what Hoopa to legendaries should have been. I do feel there aren't as many stand-out moments that stick out in my mind but it's a pleasant watch.

Zoroark Master of Illusions and the gen 5 anime are the very reason why I am a Pokemon fan today. It also cemented Zorua/Zoruark as my favorite Pokemon of all time. Peak movie.
