I know everybody and their mother has thanked you but I had to add one more. Thank you!!! I thought I had done irreversible damage to my car and would have to spend a bunch of money to fix it but with your quick simple video I was able to fix it my self ( ok, it was my brother) and save my self being ripped off by an auto shop. You’re an angel!
Dude. Thank you so much. I was buggin after it blew hot air after filling. I did it exactly as you did it, pissed yellow into the towel with the same trigger valve. Took 1 minute and it starting blowing ice cold. Thanks so much brother!!!! Your the man
I am a woman and followed the instructions to the T. Get a towel cuz even with the hose, the gases do splatter. It took seconds to fix and will keep me a happy customer with my dealership. Thank you again!
7years since you did this video and here I am with the same can of refrigerant only the previous owner of my truck was obviously the one who overcharged the system before selling it to me. Thought I needed to charge the system only to discover the problem was quite the opposite. Going to give your fix a go before throwing my stripper money at the problem. Wish me luck. UPDATE: Thank you for taking the time to make this video! My truck is blowing colder than a stripper’s heart! Think the previous owner just pumped straight air into it cause I had to bleed it down to 19 psi before I started getting any coolant out before recharging but now it works fantastic. Saved my wallet.
Long, but useful reply. Thanks to you and Casey. I overcharged the A/C in my 2010 Honda Accord with the Interdynamics Arctic/AC unit. My freon was really low, and it took the whole bottle that came with the refill gauge/hose/coupler unit from Harbor Freight. It seemed to fill really slow, so when I got another bottle to take it up to the recommended level, that bottle was MUCH FASTER … and I over-charged the A/C. Ugh. Your vid and Casey's supported what I though I would attempt - use the same system to discharge it. BUT, my 2nd bottle wasn't empty, and I noticed that when you remove the gauge head, the can empties! Dangerous and undesirable!! Watched vids on how auto A/C systems work. High-pressure side from compressor, goes gas to liquid. Low-pressure side, liquid back to gas. Also, noticed that when you remove the coupler from the valve, some gas escapes.
So In order to get out the excess without removing the gauge you simply hooked It on and off on the low side so It let's out just a lil bit of gas out each time? Sounds smart. My can Is still new so I think I will go with the route In this video.
@@beast11135 Thats exactly what i'm doing I just came across this video. I realized when I released some of the pressure on the low side the needle slowly moves from the red. No idea how this would happen my AC worked perfect last summer, but came across this video and gonna finish it up tomorrow and hope the cold air comes back.
THANK YOU!!! Brain was scrambled from thinking of a solution for my compressor cycling on and off after attempting a recharge. Ran into your video while searching for answers. This immediately fixed the problem!
I just overfilled, and compressor and double fans won't run, just click and shut off. Follow your instruction and release the gas... now the gauge needle drops down to green zone from red and compressor and fans run as expected. Thank you so much...
Omg man that was brilliant! How did I not think of that. As soon as I released a ton of pressure my ac kicked back on! And I live in Arizona where your ac is a lifeline. Thank you!!!
You’re a life saver! My 4Runner hasn’t been cooling very well and I have a K9 that rides with me. I got the same recharge kit at Home Depot for $37 and as I was filling it, the compressor cut off then back on and suddenly it was overcharged. Looked up a remedy and here you are. Now it’s blowing 20 degrees!!! Thanks Brother.
I just recharged my 4Runner too and now the compressor makes a whining noise when it kicks on. Is this what yours did? I’m thinking I overcharged mine as well…
Thanks man I did the same thing you did. Overcharging it and I ain't gonna lie I was worried that I damaged the compressor. I'm so glad I came across this video save me hundreds of bucks. Thanks again
2024 and the gift is still giving my friend! thank you soo much for this upload. im over here about to cry thinking i messed up my compressor haha. its 105 here in Jersey today! Thanks again. I took your warning and used my PPE and towel like in the video.
Thank you for posting this video. I used the same product and overcharged my system. I quickly google my problem and your video popped up. You helped me out in a jam.
Man I’ve been sitting in my hot ass truck for 2 months. I Go outside and bleed it for about 1 minute until PSI was correct with my ac pro. Bam, ice cold. Thanks for the video
For some reason guys , when you are low on freon or gauge jumps up and down when compressor kicks in and stops and you keep charging it gauge showing normal charge and then in a day or two you find out its overcharged. Thats what happened to me also. But I already expected it since I saw a few videos like this before and knew what to expect. But just because it showed normal after charge the very first day do not assume its fine. measure it again in a day or two.
Had all these issues and tried this. What a simply solution for what could’ve been a costly inspection/repair. Silly to think that an overcharged system would perform this way but big picture I guess this is a brilliant safety precaution to not damage your a/c system. Thanks for the video!!!
Yes!! Guy at Autozone helped me charge my 2006 Honda. Left, with no problems, (pressure was in the “green”), or so I thought. AC started pumping hot air! Followed your advice and instructions...AC is now cold as ice! Thanks man.
it worked for my Silverado 2011 that was constantly running high for the cooling fans, high noise when they are at high speed constantly, and I read is a symptom for overcharged or air, and this fan at high speed happened after last gas fill I did. due to leaks fixed with 3X sealant can. Thank you very much for sharing. Now the truck still cooling like crazy and no extra noise / vibration from the cooling fans at high speed
You saved me a lot of trouble, it was my first time adding freon and I overfilled it. Ugh, I panicked cause after only hot air would come out and the gauge was on red insted of green, so I released some like you said and it went bacl to green and it cools very well, Thanks again, great video
Released air in my system and small amount of R134a. Used a thin insulated glove AND a leather glove over top of the thin insulated glove. Pushed the gauge end of AC pro hose into a white towel in a bucket. Worked like a charm! Thank brother!!!
How can I release just the air? Or is thar not possible. I really don't wanna go to a dealer. But my wife needs air its only hot. The gauge read full and i only put maybe half a can in. So something is wrong. My grandpa said that way to much air in the system but he couldn't take it all out. I just wanna know how to get everything down to zero and start all over with a new can I guess
My system seems to be different from all the A/C videos. With A/C ON needle on dial is below 25 psi. With A/C OFF it's up near 55 psi. Adding more freon increases PSI when OFF, but remains the same when ON. Following instruction on this video does bring psi down when A/C is OFF.
Scott that is the something I did. Had the engine running with the A/C high. As soon as I heard the compressor kick on I knew it was good. Sat in the car and instantly felt the cool air. The way I should y'all in the video is rudimentary. Glad my video is helping so many people.
Joshua Morris Dude. You saved my wallet!!! I used a screwdriver and I was able to get my AC system back. I was like OMG, I fuckd it up. This will cost me a lot of money to fix but I was wrong. Thanks.
Cold air liquid will come out. Use safety glass, and gloves. Don't put your face close to the valve. Use a thick towel and put it where the valve is when you are releasing the gas. The towel will absorb everything. Wash your hands with soap and very well. Dont touch your eyes before washing your hands. Put the used towel in the trash can.
Thank you Joshua !!! It was 95 and heat index of 105 today and tomorrow supposed to be similar with oppressive humidity. I picked up a can of A/C and took a shot at trying to get cold air again. just as you mentioned...Overcharged was my issue. I removed some to the point where my clutch disengaged and topped it back off. BOOM clutch kicked in and Cold air is back. Thanks a million !!!
Just did in my Toyota 4 runner, overcharged ac too , ac started making on and off noice , than loud screeching noices , I really almost shit in my pants , and I’m a woman , than found u , thank God
This works guys !!!!!! My VW Passat ac blew HOT AIR for no reason after using ac pro... Turns out I o we filled it now it's ice cold again!! Use hose to release over filled ac it WORKS!!!
Yo. man. you... I love you man, I ac proed my girls car and sure nuff it blew cold air but as soon as my girl started her work week...zero cold air...here it is Friday and I was looking for an ac shop to take it to and I came across your video. U are awesome thanks, I'm sitting in it now and it's like 65° in here😂🎉🎉🎉
Thank you. These things have a digital gauge now and mine was reading 29 for most of the process. Then suddenly the cars rpms started going up and down and the gauge started jumping back and forth from 29 to 65 and the AC started blowing warm air. I did this and now it's much better... Wouldn't say ice cold but at least now it's blowing cooler than it was.
This should be video of the year!!! And to think those AC PRO company probably could have same millions of dollars to consumers if they had your genius feedback!! First time recharging AC and was stuck on 3/4 of the green bars until all of the sudden it showed RED! Nothing but HOT air. Watched all these youtube video to say check relay, magnetic AC compressor, and if all else fail replace the compressor. Shops charge $1200+. Replacement parts rebuilt is $400 and new after market is $500. Of course not including labor. Being a GREAT human being and sharing KNOWLEDGE = Priceless. Sound like a damn commercial. 👍🙏🏼
Thank you so much I put a whole can in my system and it said green still . After driving it around a bit the idle and compressor was going crazy so turned off the ax until I got home and searched the web and found your video. Followed the instructions and back to normal idle and ice cold ac,thank you so much for your video,I was worried that I had to take the car to the mechanic with a big bill I can’t afford right now.
you are absolutely right I had the same problem I follow what you said in the video and my ac back working I have a Mitsubishi outlander 2015 PHEV really thanks so much you safe me from paying a lot of money to the mechanic
I literally just found the kid he was talking about, earlier today, because I dumped a whole can and still wasn't getting cold air, so I was worried it was mechanical. After releasing some my AC works mint!
My man, not only did u save me lots of$, but u also saved me the biggest headache!(it was my girlfriend's car). Thank u so much!! And I seen that idiot with the nail! No why was I trying that. Lol
Happened to me as well while following directions. They should instruct users to apply refrigerant in 3 second bursts as opposed to 10 second bursts and then wait a few minutes for system to equalize to an updated pressure reading...live and learn. Your idea to use the pressure gauge and trigger handle is great as you can get a pressure reading as you release some of the refrigerant without overdoing it...
I was in a freaking jam! My A/C was low and the car was idling low to the point the car would almost shut off. I went and bought an A/C refill can. Did everything the instructions told me to do and somehow ended up overfilling my A/c. My cars compressor stopped spinning and the car Idled worse. Took the car to pep boys and they told me it was going to be a standard $200 service fee to remove the excess refrigerant so I started looking on UA-cam and saw your video. I bought the A/C pro for the trigger hose and drained the excess until the gauge went from the red to it reading 40 psi and was on the green. Turned on my car’s A/c to full blast and man oh man that relief of saving those $200 and my car not being broken are priceless. Thanks a lot for the video. You’re helping a ton of people.
Finesse Kid Finesser compressor is building up too much pressure in the system. More likely restriction in the system orifice or expansion valve. Could also be caused by air in the system.
Finesse Kid Finesser the right way to do that is to take it to a repair shop that will recover the Freon in the system and the machine they use can pressurize your system to factory specifications. The do it yourself people purge the system of all Freon with ac manifold gauges and attach a vacuum pump to eliminate the air and moisture from the system. Using the same manifold gauges you then refill your system with Freon. There are good you tube videos that take you through both methods.
totally work for my friend's car. his AC wasn't blowing ice cold so I suggested we use the AC recharge, since I have used it a handful of times before with great success. well, I must have overfilled his system (the gauge that comes with the A/C Pro is not accurate at all) cause the compressor kept cycling on and off. I looked up to see what an overcharge condition is like, and yup, cycling on and off is a symptom. so I tried your method, worked great. I got it to a point where it stops cycling when pressure builds up too high, and even got the AC blowing colder than before. thanks!
I purchase a second engine and got an a/c for my Kia motor car I installed the engine and then took the car to the a/c tec to repair it he gas it it started working but a few days later while driving my car it just stop working only to find out the cause was the a/c I then return the car to the buyer of the engine only to the a/c tec should have bleed the compressor before gassing it. What can I do now
I attempted to recharge Freon in my ram 1500 this morning, after I applied the whole thing my AC was only blowing HOT air and clutch on AC compressor was going crazy. I immediately pictured a negative $700 or more in my bank account due to AC repairs. I came across this video and...man!!, your video sure made my day. I did exactly what you recommended and now my AC is fixed, cold air all day, thank you thank you!!.
Im an hvac technician and just wanted clarify a few things. A high pressure reading may be a symptom of verious different problems. If you discharge the refrigerant (which is illegal so be careful) and it doesnt fix the problem then it could be many things. The stuff people let out that they call "air" is actually the refrigerant in the form of vaporized gas. To get a better understanding of whats wrong you need an a/c manifold set to test both of the refrigerant lines, the thicker one is the low-side pressure and the skinny one is the high pressure. make sure the air filters for the a/c are clean and that the compressor is staying on. Also if the radiator is too dirty or has restricted airflow then the system wont be able to let go of the heat and will just bring it straight back into the car. There are a lot of videos and websites that can explain the different readings and what problems they could mean. Its not too complicated once you understand how these things work and many problems are easily fixed without needing professional help. HOWEVER, if you are not confident that you know whats wrong or how to fix it, then go to someone who is certified to work on it!!! Screwing these things up could lead to major problems other than what is already wrong and can cost you hundreds to repair.
My friend, it worked for me too. Mine was a notch over 55psi. After bleeding it down to about 35psi, BAM - began cooling. Took it out for a drive to get the rpm up so the compressor could fully pressurize and circulate the freon and in about 5 minutes at 45 mph, I had 16 degrees F coming out of my vents. My wife and family thank you for this!!!
Worked perfectly! Great tip. One word of caution make sure A/C pro is empty or it will vent when gage removed. I thought it might reseal when the gage is removed but it does not so be careful with that.
I didn't overcharge my system, I used less than half the can, and the pressure was almost in the red, so I knew at that point I had air in the system...I racked my brain, how I was gonna purge the air without having to pull a vaccuum...and you solved the mystery! Thanks
Thank you so much your the best it really works I was scared for second because Chevy dealership told it cost 250 to refill and 2grand to fix but you saved me bro thanks and I used the exact same product god bless America
Thank you Joshua, I did the exact same thing. I kept putting the r134a in until the can was empty. Overcharged the system and now the AC blows hot as compressor is not coming on. I didn't know you could use the guage kit to release the overcharge but now, thanks to you I can.
I know this video is old but I overcharged my Subaru and did exactly what you did with the charging hose and after about a minute … blowing cold air !!! Thanks for the info
Thank you God for all the help you have shown me how to recharge my AC unit and wear protective gear when doing so I've learned a lot from watching you guys and I just wanted to say thank you
I followed these steps and they somewhat worked, but instead of taking a cruise around the block to see if it stayed cool while running, I left my car in park and pushed the gas pedal until I reached about 4000 on my cars gauge, then the ac started blowing hot air again. I plugged the a.c. pro gauge back into the a.c. valve and it showed overcharged again. Followed the same steps again and the same happened. This went on 2 times now. Now taking my car to my family member who is a mechanic, luckily I have that option.
I overcharged mine and i read that sometimes you can actually broke your compressor. I was worry because thats not a cheap repair. Anyways i tried this and now its blowing a chill air now. It's just that is not as cold as others cars but still i am happy to get it back to what it was. Thanks.
Just happend that they me and watch the same joung guy you mention but i keept looking for more vodeos came across your video and it was very simple thank you so much you just save me alot of money and that was a good idea using the hose instead of a nail didn't make a mess at all thanks againg
This just worked for me too. I used the AC Pro also. When I charged it went from green to the red zone almost instantly and the compressor started clicking bad. Then I found this video. Thanks!
It worked for me👍 I was nervous that I broke my system after I put a can through it. It was blowing hot afterward.... I frantically searched the net, found your suggestion and its blowing cold again😀 Thanks man
if i could buy you a beer i would - as soon as i used that stuff and got in the car HOT air blowing and i started thinking of the bill to fix it - i used your method here and it's working again as well as it was - thank you my friend - and others reading this - don't flip out - use this method and if it doesnt work...then flip out...Thanks Josh!!!
Saved my butt!!! Just tried to charge my car and at first the guage was hardly showing any change. So I squeezed the trigger for a long time and it put it right in the red zone and I freaked out. I was like theres GOT to be a way to release the freon without paying an arm and leg at some shop. Then I found this video and it worked!! Just be super careful yall!
I did this to my two cars, one right after the other; tried your Hack and my car seems to be great, my wife's seems a little better than before overfilling (I may try adding a little more if needed). The kid with the nail had good intentions and was trying to help and I give him kudos for that, but I'm glad I found your video before trying out anything else...thank you infinitely (I thought I was going to have to call the National Psychic Hotline).
Don't use a nail use the bottom of an AAA battery. This way if the port is in an out of the way spot like on Hyundai cars (behind the engine) this is the easiest way. This is what I did on a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT. It helps to have skinny arms which I don't have.
Same product, same problem. I was using paper towels and a Phillips head to discharge it but it went back to hot air. Pulled the nozzle off the ac pro and it worked like a charm. You can even use the gauge to tell you exactly how full it is and how much more you need to let out
Thanks man saved my bacon. Those gauges suck. I had it good with the vent temp then decided to push some more in as the gauge said to. Compressor wouldn't come on. Bleed a little off at a time until it blows cold again (can't hear the compressor engage in my car). I'll be adding it slowly next time with a meat thermometer in the vent and not trust the gauges on these cans.
You just saved me a whole rack of money today ! I sprayed too much AC PRO into my system & the AC light started blinking & was pushing out hot air. I did what you said & now it feels like a Green Bay Packers playoff home game in my car !! LMAO. Thank ya, man. I appreciate it highly.
Your exactly right. Use the same valve to release it. That kids video... Pretty good but he just wasn't using his head. Good video. Love DIY tip videos

Thank you so much
I put a whole can in my system and it said green still .
In 2019 you saved me a trip to the mechanic and money.... Thanks
Lol
You are a LIFESAVER! Did exactly what you said and problem solved immediately. THANK YOU! Your idea seemed much safer than the kid with the nail.
andrea cherie thompson you are welcome my friend.
The A/C pro guage was not showing a mesurement so I kept adding more thinking it was low. I overfilled it! Now I have to try this
Happened to me as well while following directions.
Jack Tragic Hell yeah you are correct with that statement Jack
I know. Absolute retardation on their end!
Best idea I've seen all year. Saved me big$$$. Thanks.
Literally just overcharged my 6.0, super glad I found your video
What if you let pressure out but it stays on red
Finesse Kid Finesser compressor is building up too much pressure in the system. More likely restriction in the system orifice or expansion valve. Could also be caused by air in the system.
@@JuanRivera-ff6fd yes that's what i was told it could be air how do i let air out i was told to bleed it
Finesse Kid Finesser the right way to do that is to take it to a repair shop that will recover the Freon in the system and the machine they use can pressurize your system to factory specifications. The do it yourself people purge the system of all Freon with ac manifold gauges and attach a vacuum pump to eliminate the air and moisture from the system. Using the same manifold gauges you then refill your system with Freon. There are good you tube videos that take you through both methods.
@@JuanRivera-ff6fd ok i see thanks
This videos seriously underrated. The gift that keeps on giving.
I thought the same
Helped me fix my ac not working quick, thanks dude.
totally work for my friend's car. his AC wasn't blowing ice cold so I suggested we use the AC recharge, since I have used it a handful of times before with great success. well, I must have overfilled his system (the gauge that comes with the A/C Pro is not accurate at all) cause the compressor kept cycling on and off. I looked up to see what an overcharge condition is like, and yup, cycling on and off is a symptom. so I tried your method, worked great. I got it to a point where it stops cycling when pressure builds up too high, and even got the AC blowing colder than before. thanks!
Dude, do you work at Geico? because you just saved me a bunch of money haha!
dexter tolentino lol best comment so far.
What can I do now
BEST VIDEO! 5 minute fix!
Worked like a charm, thank you
@@lincolnanderson1551 ... Same here. Thanks, Josh...
I had my son do this to my Ford Focus and it worked like a charm. Thank you for this video!
Why expansion valve noise when system running sir?
Thanks
Joshua -THANK YOU! I was upset that I overfilled mine today and was told I had to go to a mechanic - wrong! Thanks for sharing this video
YOUR WELCOME LOL. Google and UA-cam can be a great tool if you use it the right way.
I'm kinda late to the party but hey you helped me allot. I did what you suggested and compressor has been running strong since. Thanks dude.
Thank alot fam. This helped out tremendously. Good looking out
8 years later and you just saved me thousands of dollars thank you king 🙏🏼
Thanks.
I ended up in the same situation as you, and first video I came across was that kid with the nail too! And then found yours. Thanks for the tips.
Perfect! I thought I was going to have to take it to the mechanic but this was just what the doctor ordered! Thanks!!!
Lifesaver
. I was about be over my car and look at something new ha ha
Just happend that they me and watch the same joung guy you mention but i keept looking for more vodeos came across your video and it was very simple thank you so much you just save me alot of money and that was a good idea using the hose instead of a nail didn't make a mess at all thanks againg
100% appreciate this. It worked perfectly and my ac was super overcharged! Went from 72 degrees to 38!
So because it was overcharged it wasn't blowing cold at all
This just worked for me too. I used the AC Pro also. When I charged it went from green to the red zone almost instantly and the compressor started clicking bad. Then I found this video. Thanks!
It worked for me👍 I was nervous that I broke my system after I put a can through it. It was blowing hot afterward.... I frantically searched the net, found your suggestion and its blowing cold again😀
Thanks man
Super helpful. Thanks for posting. Solved my problem.
Thank u for the help over charged two of my vehicles and this tip saved me big $$$$
Absolute legend! I did this and it worked. Thank you so much!
This video fixed my A/C problem, which I overcharged. Thank you!
fkn GENIUS BROO!! was almost gonna buy a new compressor! this just saved me 300$!!
if i could buy you a beer i would - as soon as i used that stuff and got in the car HOT air blowing and i started thinking of the bill to fix it - i used your method here and it's working again as well as it was - thank you my friend - and others reading this - don't flip out - use this method and if it doesnt work...then flip out...Thanks Josh!!!
Totally just worked and saved me 20 bucks on the refrigerant. Thanks Dude
Thank you for this!!!!!!!!!!!!! So short and to the point! Worked perfectly
Thank you! Saved me a headache of a problem! Going to be a scorcher of a week
Did you put the cap all the way on the low side? Or just a little pressure? Or are we supposed to click it all the way on it
Don't use a nail use the bottom of an AAA battery. This way if the port is in an out of the way spot like on Hyundai cars (behind the engine) this is the easiest way. This is what I did on a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT. It helps to have skinny arms which I don't have.
Worked like a charm. Thanks man
2020 and fixed my issue over charged my girlfriend's suv did this and now get ac is cold again thank you 🤙
This is the best video on UA-cam. THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU. 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much you help me save 1800 dollars. And I also liked how it was simple and easy.
Dude thank you SO much! First time doing it too and ended up with extra air in the system. This fix worked great :)
Same product, same problem. I was using paper towels and a Phillips head to discharge it but it went back to hot air. Pulled the nozzle off the ac pro and it worked like a charm. You can even use the gauge to tell you exactly how full it is and how much more you need to let out
Joshua, Awesome idea and worked Perfectly. thanks a bunch!!
thank u so much.... this so far was the best UA-cam advice ever....
OMAR FAM thanks. You comment it one of the best ever.
Thanks...working like a champ now!
THANK YOU so much for making this so very easy !! and just getting to the job and not a lot of talking but to the point !!!!!!
Thanks for posting this! Demystified everything.
Thanks so much for this video. I was beating myself up because I overcharged my ac and thought I had to take it to a mechanic to get it fixed.
Stephen Hall thanks. Trust me I was doing the same. Then a lightbulb went off and I thought to make this video.
Just did the same thing as you, thank god you made a vid. Also got a chuckle at the PPE.
I almost forgot about my video. Love your comment.
Your exactly right. Use the same valve to release it. That kids video... Pretty good but he just wasn't using his head. Good video. Love DIY tip videos
OH MY GOSH! DUDE THANK YOU SO FREAKING MUCH!!! YOU'RE A LIFE SAVER!!!
It actually worked. Thank you. For real thank you.
