I have been a mortal decay fan since I was 14, and Johnny might have already moved on to Chopcore when I started Last to Die, but we opened open for Mortal Decay once and they headlined so barely anyone saw us play.... but fast forward a few weeks and we playand Joe Gordon of Mortal came up to the 17 year old me after our set at another show we were playing to tell me he thought we kicked ass, and all I remember saying was "we opened for you a few weeks ago, you weren't there..." and looking back I probably sounded like a kid whose dad walked out on the family, and i had to have looked like such a dickhead, but Joe and Hartman were huge influences on my songwriting on guitar, so Joe giving me props went right over my head because I wanted him to know he missed us the first time lol smh

Mortal Decay was like Metallica to the local death metal kids back in highschool here in the Pine Barrens of South Jersey. Sickening Erotic Fanatacism is one of my favorite full length death metal releases. I have a friend whose is booking shows in Atlantic City at a good sized venue for Mortal Decay to do a release party at. Before venom... we had punk , stooges, sabbath and motorhead. Venom started it all.... from thrash, death to Black metal and everything heavy. No matter how old you are, If you say you are into metal and not a fan of the originator's Like Venom, slayer,Frost, Hellhammer, sodom, sepultura, Sarcófago, Fate, Destruction, Kreator etc etc than you are just not a metal fan.

Venom was never my jam. Totally respect them but I give zero fucks about their music. Was not "thrash" enough for me at the time going from hardcore punk to thrash metal in the 80s. For me, Slayer's Show No Mercy was far superior to Venom. That is just personal tastes and what I was exposed to in 1984. Maiden and Priest are the same to me. Respect their contributions to metal but garbage musically in my life. Venom always came off as a faster Motorhead with "Evil/Satanic" imagery and lyrics. To each their own. Keep the Poser destroyer attitude alive good sir!

I mean, why are you so cold towards them ? The late Trevor he gave his all in black dahlia and the music and riffs and solos worked and they love old school dm. Will Ramos from lorna shore gives his all and the music is powerful. So do other deathcore bands, now sure some bands can be lousy but from years of listening to many deathcore. These bands love love love metal and they sleep in small buses and vans just to play metal. Why don’t you guys here give them some respect ? I don’t get the hate is it the vocals ? Is it because of what they wear ? Why all the hate ? They are dedicated just as much as the older bands. So why all the hate ?
