  • In this video, I will walk you through how to plan and build a greenhouse with reclaimed windows. The plan for this greenhouse is to use it for aquaponics, but you could use it as a regular greenhouse as well. I have already been into growing my own food but we have a short growing season here in Oregon, so I decided to build this so that I can extend my growing season through the year.
I have setup this video with chapters so that you can jump to whatever section can help you. Don't miss future videos that we will be creating in this greenhouse of aquaponics with Talapia and various growing techniques.

just completed a 7 week build of a very similar design....basically a lean-to like yours with back wall against house and Palram Sunscape roof panels and repurposed windows and door....very well done!!

Thank You for sharing your talents! Would you mind sharing what program you used to set up your cut list for each wall?

Where did you get the roofing polycarbonate, and are you happy with it? Thanks! This is a great video!

    Great video!
How much wood did you end up using?

A lot. double 2x4 around every window. This thing is not going anywhere.

I'm looking to build something similar, lean to style. is it necessary to build the back wall instead of just anchoring it to the house?

I only separated it because I was going to have so much water inside. I also knew I was going to be heating water with Tilapia in it and I knew I was going to be creating a ton of moisture. In the winter it's a rainforest in there. Another reason you might not want to though is the area you live. If you get higher heats, it could raise way higher for the siding. This is depending on your siding, and your climate though.

I’d be willing to bet you didn’t pull any permits for this, did you?
Out here we’d be told to take it down, too close to house, needs to be 10’ away and 10’ away from property line.
