Really like it. We made ours using old windows and doors. The way it was laid out on paper. My wife did the same thing. I love that you put some of the windows on hinges. Looking back I should have done that. I need to go back and add some venting areas that can open. Gets really hot in there on warm days.
Thank you! Yes I really liked the automatic fan we put in. It really helped regulate things and keep us from toasting everything in there while the plants were sprouting. -Robert
Good times right there! I have used that type of roofing before, sounds great when it's raining eh! Love the Oregon cat's, man they can really climb! Up the ladder, lol! Very inquisitive & playful! Love the smell in a greenhouse to by the way! Fresh & earthy!!!
Put some hooks out on the ends of those poles and you have a place to hang up some hanging baskets of flowers or veggies...put a gutter on the back and run it into a rain barrel for watering your plants. Love your design. You could also use some burlap and make a shade curtain you can pull across your ceiling to help it stay a little cooler in summer.
Glad you were able to repurpose those old cabin windows. Wishing you and Dede a great garden season especially now that you can start seeds earlier. Have you had any luck with green beans or snap peas? Those kittens may do a great job with foiling the local chipmunks.
Hi Kate. Yes we are hopeful for a good garden this year! The greenhouse should help give us an upper hand. Our bush beans and sugar snap peas did great last year, I think we direct sowed some climbing beans into our clay as a late last ditch effort, but they didn’t do anything. Want to build some extra trellis this year and try those again. -Robert
I LOVE IT! What a great way to resource old windows! Looks awesome... but ugh the mud!! Love those orange beauties!! Those are called truly happy cats!! It's how it's meant to be! We make use of the duster spray cans for office for a deterrent for our cats. It's much like their mom who spits air at them to warn them not to mess with her when they get rambunctious! We don't unload a full spray on them just short quick burst. It works quite well. Maybe you can try it in precarious places like roofing and now keeping those sweet feline paws off your little babies in the green house. Just always a happy day when Dee Dee and Robert pop up in my UA-cam notifications! In Montana we'd call the hail-like snow gropple. Not sure why but it seem to suit it. Adventures in winter/spring prep... gotta love it! Best way to get a new battery charger is always with a tool!! Smart buy! Smiles and blessings to you guys!
Thanks Lisa! After I finish the build, fixing the mud will be top priority! 😂 Interesting about the canned air. When I was younger we used to turn the cans upside down and freeze each other with them. Workplace shenanigans that I don’t recommend. 😳 Might have to try it, although these orange kitties are pretty stubborn!!! -Robert
Awesome video. It's nice when hard work comes together and you see it all over your homestead. I remember back when I had my car accident and I had to go into a semi early retirement you guys were just starting out. I can relate to being a green horn but you guys are from far from that now. Keep up the good work and it's nice to be on board and follow you guys
Thanks so much Joseph! Appreciate you hanging in there with us through the good, the bad, and the ugly.! 😄 Been a wild journey over the last few years, but starting to feel like we are getting in the groove. Thanks so much! -Robert
Hi Robert and Dede, love your greenhouse, it's so cute, I can see it in the summer with tomato plants inside and strawberries in hanging baskets on the extended beams , if you want to shade it in summer try muslin ,burlap is to thick.
Looks Good! We built one too last Summer here at home. Too late for seeds but we did start some plants in there. Regulating the heat is a learning experience for us. Many days we had to leave the door open just to keep it below 100f in there.
Awesome! We get pretty warm in the summer here, that’s why I am putting in an automatic fan. I’m sure I would forget and destroy some plants otherwise. 😄 -Robert
I must have missed something. I remember you bought Dede a greenhouse (?) for (birthday, anniversary?) You got caught in the act of putting it together cause Dede came home early. What happened with that? I like this one better tho. I think it's bigger and it goes more with the homey feeling of your property. Both stay safe and healthy. Gingers gone wild lol. Thanks for taking us along
Hi Cheryl. Yes that was an early video we did maybe six years or so ago at our old house. Right after I bought it and set it up, we moved. 🤪 Been busy working on the property and house, so I finally got back around to making a greenhouse for Dede. She loves gardening so I am happy to make a nice greenhouse for her. -Robert
Looking so nice. I need someone who is handy like you. Lol. I want a small green house. I was hoping you would not cut those extended wood mi was thinking also they would be nice for hanging baskets
We bought a fairly inexpensive one from Amazon. iLiving 12” shutter exhaust fan with thermospeed is how it’s titled. (ILG8SF12V-ST) part#. Works great! I like that you can dial in temp, but also fan speed. -Robert
Hey Christa. It was a fan we got off Amazon. The brand was iLiving. It was a 12” shutter exhaust fan with thermo speed control. Hope that helps. -Robert
thank you for explaining the strength of the 2 x 4s on the vertical. it was good to learn that. what a beautiful project.
Thanks so much Laura
Beautifully done! Both the greenhouse and your video!
Thank you

Greenhouse and a Happy Dede, win win. Good work guys, even through that nasty weather.
Yeah. that is a win win! 😊 -Robert
fun project! Mulch is a good, cheap way to provide a non muddy walking surface.
Impressive 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you! 😊
Thanks Cathy! -Dede

Thanks Phyllis!
Wow, beautiful work!!! Cats are beautiful, too!!! And funny 😄🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Sandra! The cats certainly keep us entertained. 😁-Dede

Of course you're building a greenhouse in snow and sleet! Love you guys and ALL the pets!
😂😂 Of course, why not? Thanks Zelphia!

Yeah those cats are nuts. Nosey little guys. 🤨 Looking forward to getting this finished up and in working order. -Robert
That is one cool well planned greenhouse.
Thank you! I get a chuckle every time I see your channel name pop up. 😂😂😂 -Robert

That’s the plan Karen. We are going to square them up, and put baskets, or wind chimes, etc on them.
Love the ginger cats. I have one of my own - looks a lot like your two...
Hopefully not as stubborn as ours. 😂😂 They certainly are fun little guys.
I just like like like this build just as much as that Bennie you have on Rob. That greenhouse is rock solid and bad as$.
Lol. Thanks! 😂 Maybe this year they can start well and make it through the playoffs. 👍 -Robert

@@TheOregonTale we get HOT here in Iowa. I attached the roof to the front with hinges and we raise the roof to let out heat.
🤝👍👍👍 молодец!

Hi 👋 What brand automatic vent did you buy, and are you pleased with operation of vent?
We bought a fairly inexpensive one from Amazon. iLiving 12” shutter exhaust fan with thermospeed is how it’s titled. (ILG8SF12V-ST) part#. Works great! I like that you can dial in temp, but also fan speed. -Robert
What piece did you use to connect stove to pipe? I have the same stove that I'm trying to use
I’m not sure which video this was in reference to. Are you talking about the old Ashley stove with the oval outlet?
What brand of auto vent fan is that?
Hey Christa. It was a fan we got off Amazon. The brand was iLiving. It was a 12” shutter exhaust fan with thermo speed control. Hope that helps. -Robert
