Definitely. It helps when you train for function rather than aesthetics. In general, a person should do two pulling exercises for every one pressing exercise they do. If you bench press and overhead press, make sure you're doing pull-ups and rows as well, and adding plus sets and accessory exercises like reverse flies, face-pulls, etc. Though perhaps to a lesser degree, I think the same can be applied to the legs and lower anatomy. If you're doing squats, make sure you're hitting your deadlifts, and probably be doing some variations like RDL's or even some seated leg curls. Most people in modern developed countries are out of balance in terms of anterior muscles, which results in so many injuries and nagging pains.
