    Rell was cast aside because of his disability. He wasn't considered normal by us. However his disability gave him a hyper sense to the void and he could sense the man in the wall. He chose to be locked up to fight him off. Most of your vid is good. Some things are off.

    Parkour 2.0 and Helminth system are in my opinion the most game changing and important updates to Warframe's overall health. Parkour 2.0 made one of the most fun movement systems ever.
    As for Helminth, it tackled the issue of base frames just being MR fodder (and for some players, a waste of time to farm because the prime version was actually easier to obtain), or they would just awkwardly sit in our inventory forever, with no purpose. Base frames were just in a weird spot that didn't feel right, and Helminth actually gave them a great reason to be farmed. But it also gave even more depth to Warframe builds, creating all kinds of synergies.
    The 2 best updates outside of story quests.

    I really appreciate this cool retrospective. As someone who started shortly after launch and was crazy enough to invest in a master-level Founder's Pack, I never could have imagined back in 2013 the game would go from where it was then to now. It's still at its core the same game when you get right down to its bones, but it has truly evolved so much. It's also funny to see how much younger the main devs were at launch. We've all aged a lot since then, especially DE Steve.

    Nice recap ^^
    Just for info, it was not DE management that refused the Dark Sector project, it was all the editors they asked to fund the game.
    Eventually, one accepted it, but only if they made it a Metal Gear Solid-style game on Earth, which resulted in the Dark Sector game that's quite nice actually. The glaive fighting in particular.
    After this video, I'd recommend the NoClip documentary on the development of Warframe for all the details on the beginning of Warframe.

I enjoy spending my time decorating the dojo and trying builds to push the limits of every warframe. if this was a traditional shooter as destiny 2 or halo i would have left this game years ago.

      Raids are the only thing I miss too.

    • @lilfuzzballa
      @lilfuzzballa 6 місяців тому

      With how OP and damage immune we can be, if raids are to return, no amount of enemy damage and health would really matter. Raids need to go in hard with mechanics and puzzles. But the reality is, in 2024, we have so many more tools at our disposal, than we did 8 years ago. We constantly have energy, we can fly, we can suspend our team in the air (Ivara dash wire), we can shred all armor, we can zip around like Flash, we can banish our team to prevent damage, we can invis the entire team, slow enemies, buff our team like crazy, heal our team like crazy, have infinite ammo, etc.
      It's almost like we have every tool or ability to be able to trivialize and cheese almost any challenge/mechanic a raid could throw our way. But to that I say, DE needs to embrace the fact that we will find ways to cheese. Just make raids complex and mechanically layered enough to where many of these tools have to simultaneously come into play, along with coordination, in order to succeed.

    Little fix: it was not DE Leadership that wanted to change Dark Sector, it was the publisher, no publishing company was willing to take such a wild idea, and DE was a pretty small, “work for hire” studio, unable to publish their first game by themselves, so they revamped the game into something “safer” that would get published, since at the time (2004-2008!) game downloads weren’t what they are nowadays

  • @ywjsiabvue
    @ywjsiabvue 5 місяців тому +1

    Wow. I started at rise of the warlords, reached endgame at archwing, and left during law of retribution. To finally come back when whisper in the walls came out. It was a lot to catch up on.
    Turned out my strongest weapon the boltor prime was now a low-mid tier and the weapon that ended up carrying me in the new content was one that I thought was absolute weak trash and only didn't sell it only because it was a prime. The glaive prime. I do miss the void keys but after learning the relic system, it's definitely an improvement when it comes to farming prime parts. I've now caught with everything except kuva weapons because it's confusing and i hadn't taken the time to learn it. Currently working on getting easier things like archon shards, arcanes and rivens

    Kind of innacurate info on the early days of Warframe. If you watch the NO CLIP documentary on Warframe, they explain how DE got their start by partnering with EPIC games, and making the Unreal Tournament games. After that partnership ended, they mainly just stuck to "work for hire" contracts, where they received money from publishers to help aid in the development of their games. They helped make games like Pariah, Warpath, The Darkness 2, and the PS3 port of Bioshock, to name a few.
    During that time, DE had their own little game they were working on. They had an early demo of their own game called Dark Sector, that they pitched to a bunch of publishers to fund the game. They all turned it down because hard sci-fi wasn't "cool" or in style anymore. They finally got a publisher to fund it but at the request that they make it a bit more grounded, less space ninja, more militarized, more like Gear of War/Resident Evil 4, and takes place on Earth.
    They took the deal and finally released Dark Sector, but the game just did ok. DE is proud of the game, but it ultimately wasn't their true vision of Dark Sector because of the negotiations they had to make in order to please the publisher.
    Made some money from Dark Sector, but they eventually had to go back to "work for hire" contracts, but as time went on, and AAA games got bigger and more expensive to make, publishers were less eager to take risks with third party "work for hire" devs, and instead started to keep their development done internally with their own dev teams. That meant the work for hire jobs were drying up and DE was running out of money.
    They were down to their last 3 million in the bank and knew that they were at the brink of closing and had one last shot to make a game that would hopefully keep the studio alive. They had a 12 month window to have a game made and making their studio money, or else they pull the plug and close the studio down for good. So they looked at "free to play" as an option. They figured that with their small budget and time frame, making a small co-op free to play game with generated levels, would be their best option with what they have. So using a lot of their early assets from their original Dark Sector pitch demo/concepts, they created a small free to play game called, Lotus, in just 2 months.
    They got in contact with all the biggest Free to Play publishers to help fund Lotus, but they were once again turned down. They either didnt like that it was sci-fi, and/or that it was PvE. One F2P publisher even told them after seeing their pitch demo, "This is the best looking free to play game I've ever seen...you will fail." They asked why will it fail, and the publisher responded with, "A F2P game can't look this good and update as often as you need to, to build your community."
    So DE basically took that as a challenge and went ahead and developed the game themselves. They renamed it from Lotus, to Warframe, released an Alpha for players to try out, but didnt really have much marketing to spread the word around the internet about it. It wasn't until the UA-camr, TotalBiscuit (RIP) reviewed the Warframe Beta, with his video, "WTF is...Warframe." DE has stated that that single video was the most critical moment in making players aware of Warframe and trying the game out.
    People saw potential in the game, kept supporting it, DE kept updating as much as possible, and about 11 years later it's doing amazing.

    Imo after Rivens is when the game went down in the terms of farming "level". The game was already decently farming intensive already, after rivens they kept putting more and more systems that require massive amounts of farming for you to be endgame, unless you shop platinum constantly (and also farm hard). The game surely picked up in popularity, and it always had been a fantastic game with a very good community. Great soundtracks, visuals and gameplay. But the amount of farming became ridiculous to be up to date with everything, and for me at least, it reached the braking point. I quit as a day 1 player around 1 year after rivens got released.
