32:19 he is the boy that survived the wildlings attack. Ygrette killed his father in front of him. A Thenn told him that he was going to eat his family and told him to run to the wall and let the Night's Watch know.
I for one had no trouble with Ygrette dying she has so much blood on her hands it was time for her to go but i did feel bad for Jon.
I find it really interesting that this reaction was one of the most sympathetic to Olly out of all the ones I've seen, while also being one of the only ones to forget Ygrette killed his father. There seems to be a LOT of Olly hate out there, and I get that he does some shitty things (from a fan's point of view) like killing Ygrette, but he's literally a traumatised child adopted by a xenophobic warrior cult. Not saying I like everything he does during the show's run or disagree with how other characters treat him, but the fact that he's a literal child seems lost on so many reactors.

One of the best and most rewatchable episode of the show its incredible.
Facts
There's an amazing mini-documentary on the DVDs about the filming of this episode. Not sure if it's available online anywhere, but it's well worth a watch. They built the whole set of Castle Black, rather than leaving a 'fourth wall' for crew, and there's actually a shot during the fighting that does a circular pan around the whole courtyard (Sorry if that shot is obvious to other people, but it's one of those things that for me was so well done I didn't even notice it until it was pointed out, because it blends in so seamlessly with the rest of the episode)
Why was... she.... angry?!?! Jon convinced Ygritte that he was committed to the Free Folk's cause, that he would be loyal to her, only to betray her when it turned out he was a double agent collecting information for the Night's Watch the whole time. How could she possibly not be absolutely furious with him? All the people around her were constantly telling her that he would betray her, but she believed Jon the whole time. They were right and she was humiliated. Was so mad at herself for being tricked and yet she couldn't even kill him, she still loved him even after all that he did to her.
I think she knew that Jon maybe betray her but she was kinda trying to lie herself that Jon might love her and change his mind but she took the risk and .....btw Jon really loved her but his Ned son remember
Jon was loyal....to his Night's Watch vows.
I don’t think she ever believed he was loyal to the free folk, but she believed he was and would be loyal to her.

In the books “you know nothing Jon Snow” is like Ygritte’s Catchphrase. She says it a lot.

The guys who held the gate against the giant need an epic story written about them in the book of history. Bravest crows in the nights watch.
Bran the Builder built the wall (possibly with the help of giants). He also built Winterfell and possibly Storms End and the High Tower of Oldtown (where the maesters are trained). He was the first Stark and the reason that pretty much every Stark generation has someone named Brandon.

Suzy's reaction and comments on Ygritte's death was by far the weirdest one I've seen yet, but Steejo did it justice :D

Ollie was sent to Castle Black when his village was attacked by the Wildlings, especially by the bad-guy Then, who told him he was going to eat Ollie's parents. So he was the only survivor of the village. And Steejo, it's not just cartoons that elephants are afraid of mice! On the tv show "Mythbusters," they did an experiment to see if elephants were afraid of mice, and they proved that elephants definitely avoided mice, just not like jumping on furniture, like they did on the cartoons. But elephants would avoid the mice, walking away from them!
Y'know, your guy is right. The wildlings are only trying to flee from the White Walkers. They're the real problem. This episode is just a wee sample of the epicness to come 😁

And Janos Slynt wasn't a Kings Guard, he was Captain of the City watch, like a Police Chief. They do wear Gold Cloaks while the Kings Guard wears all White cloaks

One moment that gets me in this episode it the moment before yigritt gets shot and John smiles at her as if to say it's okay I forgive u, I love you I know you have to kill me, and her face changes and she looks crushed , she couldn't never stop loving himno mater how much she felt betrayed

He's an asshole, but he's a respectable asshole
He's actually one of my favourite minor characters (minor based on the fact that he never gets PoV scenes). I think he's a fantastic antagonist, someone who actually stands by his own values, even if some of those values are shit. He makes such a wonderful contrast to the schemers and liars of King's Landing who make up most of our antagonists throughout the show's run, as demonstrated delightfully by his contrast with Janos Slynt.
And now you know why "You know nothing, Jon Snow" is a meme. At least the 2 actors fell in love and got married in real life. So there is a happy ending. :)
Sam is pretty much a self-insertion by G. R. R. Martin. He's who Martin sees himself being in this world.

Ygritte death was a sad one for me. I loved her and johns relationship in season 3 sad that it never did continue but the actors of them did marry each other so at least there’s that
I love this episode, and its one of the few unique ones in the series that only center on one location. Notice you didn't see King's Landing or any other place or characters. It was just focused on Castle Black. Freaking great episode!!
They indeed went back to that cave somehow, those two actors married in real life.

Couple fun facts about those giants. The one that died in the tunnel was actually king of the giants, named "Mag the Mighty." Also, the giants originally helped build the wall. Kinda ironic that the king of the giants died trying to break though it.
I have to agree with Suzy's evaluation of leaders around the world. We need a better way to make decisions, and leaders should be morally inspiring, not in command.

Jon isn't one of his advisors. From his perspective Jon was a jumped up little lord who had an overblown sense of importance from the moment he got there. Also by his own admission, he got his whole ranging party killed. He made good on it but it still happened. Alliser Thorne is an asshole but wrong about being second-guessed? Not really.
His willingness to let his feelings get in his way are a bit of a hindrance though. You're right about that. He admitted as much.

there is no way Ghost doesnt tear out the throat of anyone going near Jon in this battle if Ghost is free. They did not show how linked the starks are to their wolves in the show like in the books.
"You know nothing, Jon Snow" became iconic because it was much more prominent in the books, where Ygritte says it more often than she does in the show. It's also a good reflection of Jon's early character, and a bit like talking to the reader.

Ok, I HATED the change from the books in this episode regarding Ygritte’s death. In the book, Jon can’t fight on the ground due to injuries, so he’s on a tower with a bow and barrel of arrows. When he finds Ygritte dying the next day, he doesn’t know who put the arrow in her chest and knows it could have been him. It’s ambiguous in the book.
Also, Jon doesn't expect to come back. He wants to get close enough to take Mance out and then, best case scenario, get murdered by the wildlings quickly.
Just wanted to say I'm sub'd been since episode one, only watch the show here, never seen it on my own and won't, only like it here for the reaction and banter between the two of you, and I have also learned not to drink anything while watching this haha, my monitor and keyboard are finally safe!

Ollie was the boy from the farming place that was attacked by the wildlings & the cannibal said he was going to eat his mamma & papa, and to go tell the men at the wall. They kept him there for his safety as his whole village was killed.

Ygritte killed Ollie's father in front of him. She was part of the group attacking Castle Black, and she was aiming her bow at Jon. I don't blame him for shooting her.
