alot of people give olly shit for shooting her but 1. she killed his parents and 2. he didn't know jon loved her. olly only deserves shit for the other thing he did
Chris Koloski very true, I felt him justified then but when he let rage cover his decisions over the true issues is the moment I hated him.
Yeah, through his eyes all we see is a wildling about to kill Jon with a
arrow. That's why when the camera turns to him you see him nod, as in I
got your back. Idk if he knew she killed his parents wouldn't matter as
*wildlings* did it. Regardless I just hate him for what happens later
but not that much like others.
@@Sesshomaru474 Its easy to miss unless you're looking for it, but in the scene that Olly is first introduced, when the arrow goes through his father's head he immediately turns to where the arrow came from and sees Ygrette with a bow, so he definitely knew that she killed his dad.
I really don’t think Olly deserved to be hated for that… other thing, seeing as his motive was connected to this; what’s more Olly was totally convinced Ygritte sniped her dad, but his neck had a crossbow bolt in it ☝️… I think the tragedy of Olly is intentional because he’s not wrong in concluding this monolith of Wildlings murdered his family and village, but he’s largely mistaken about how personally he took the payback: like he’s got a bit of vindicated strut in offing Ygritte, so his story and motive hereafter make more sense than anyone else with whom he conspires
Totally understandable from where he was coming from
Eric already starting the misleading of Calvin with Thorne/Olly for 5x10 lol
+MrBigShot247 Dispite what thorne did, he still had a grudging respect for Jon in this battle, and fought like a bad ass.
+MrBigShot247 for Thorne maybe but not Olly. I dont hate Olly for what he did in 5x10. It was very understandable and most people would have done the exact same thing if not more. He lost his parents in the most brutal way ever to these people that he suddenly has to be friends with. Plus, to his understanding there is a giant wall that separates the WW and wildings from humans so Jon's plan is unnecessary.
+basboosa Ah the "I want to be different" take.
MrBigShot247 no there is nothing about wanting to be different..my biases on the show are the typical heroes but regardless of all that, if u were in Olly's position, you would have done the exact same thing. It always amuses me how people hate on Olly when he didnt do anything unreasonable when u think about his position and what happened to him
+basboosa I agree with you I would of done the same.
Kit's really awesome with that sword
Love the way he fights, doesn't happen enough
I remember in the Bts for this episode they talked about how when they previewed it they thought it was sped up, it wasn't he's just that fast
Jon is so badass in this episode.
The best Jon episode after Battle of the Bastards
Speaking of trivia, that scene between Jon and Ygritte was the first slow motion in the show.
Slow motion? I didn’t think there was slow motion in that scene lol, well I didn’t see it on this reaction video lol. I’m defo guna have to rewatch the whole episode for that scene now lol. Thanks for pointing that out though ray, now I’m intrigued cos I can’t remember a lot of slow motion scenes in this series, so defo guna have to rewatch lol. Thank you again ray 😁 x
When ned looked in the crowd moments before his beheading!
Wildfire explosion 2x9
@@Panamasunrise Ned’s execution had no slow motion, but I think the battle of black water did, right at the ending. That’s funny because if you look it up there’s all these articles mentioning Jon and Ygritte’s scene as the first slow motion
"THOSE ARE GIANTS RIDING MAMMOTHS DOWN THERE!"
the scene Calvin commented on about the fire making the proper sound while the man was being dragged, well that's another practical effect like the Dragon actually being a flamethrower lol They hooked up the guy on fire to a machine and dragged him along the ground while on fire and then editted in the Mammoth over the machine
3 years late on this but he wasn't referring to the sound of the fire on the guys being dragged, but rather the kinda revving/wooshing sound the fire on the barrels made as they fell. I'm sure it was the result of yet another amazing practical effect
"Game of Thrones' Helm's Deep"
that's a very good description of this episode
Great episode and Calvin's appreciation of all the little awesome moments was wonderful. For me some of the best parts of the episode were the character moments. The threat of imminent death made people drop their BS. Sam was too busy to be properly terrified and stepped up to be a badass, keeping his head clear throughout. The twisted bitter asshole Alliser Thorne was a revelation - it turns out he is made for moments like this. In battle he was tough, trusted and inspirational. Simple Grenn saw his duty clearly and acted with unflinching courage.
Great show guys, I don't envy Eric having to edit this one.
That moment when Eric remembers what the giant with the bow is going to do and tries to hide it from Calvin
Hahaha love that stare at 15:20
LadyRebecca I never noticed that. That’s probably the funniest thing Eric’s ever done 😂
LMFAO
I still get teary eyed when I see Ygritte die :(
Meh, I was more bothered about Grenn and Pyp
@@andreaswong8829 the other long hair guy could have died instead of Gren... :
it is what it is.
She killed Olly's dad. Redemption! Lol
@@daisuke910 Redemption? More like revenge.
SAME.
9:08 true joy.
Calvin is the best person to react to Game of Thrones episodes. He pays such good attention and has such a great memory of characters and plot lines! And he yells in excitement at least 10 times every video :)
Great episode, can't wait for next week! It's time for Calvin To watch "Jon Snow at a dinner party with Seth Meyers"
"That's a giant with a bow!" "yeah" -_-
Button is hit and Littlefinger falls off the Iron Throne, face first. Loved it.
Baelish on the throne, how appropriate. Awesome episode, awesome editing, awesome reaction gents.
It was cool seeing him use the spit in the eyes trick to get the upper hand like the knife guy did at crasters to him
The music in this episode is great. The high point is when Jon sees the fire
Season 4 is ridiculously awesome.
The good ol days when we waited for Sunday nights. I miss this show so much! I love reliving it by watching your reactions
Game of Thrones actually has 6.5M budget per episode by default with some "special ones" getting up to 2M bonus. So the 6.5M is the minimum not the average. Those special episodes include Blackwater, the watchers on the wall, Hardhome and Dance of Dragons!
lol Eric trying to contain his excitement when Calvin sees the giant with a bow
The Battle of Blackwater and this episode are in my top 5 favorite episodes. They are just so damn awesome!
I finally started watching Game of Thrones. I've been going through your reactions, so I know I'm very late. I just had to say, these last two episodes truly made me realize, this show does not want me to be happy.
Oh I feel so special watching this early! Thanks guys.
Thor has nothing on Jon Snow. He can really put the hammer down lol
Great job editing Eric an thank you so much for getting this out early! :D
I just love Calvin so much. I wish he was my friend.
fucking ollie, Lmao every time hes on screen eric looks at the camera XD
I laughing so much to Calvin's reactions to whatever the giants did and Sam's sass.
At 1:08 in, Calvin does an absolutely hilarious Muppet movement. I don't know how else to describe it but it is freakin' great! You guys are doing an awesome job😊
"With me now, now with me" ... That always cracked me up! XD
Hahahahaa Calvins reactions 4:54-5:09 and 9:08 are so hilarious I had to pause the video I was laughing so much. Great reactions as usual. So sad we have to wait till not year for season 7
Calvin's losimg his smile after Ollie shoots the arrow... poor boy... this isn't disney, my boy. There is no happily ever after...
In bad times with no plan...
The worst plan is the best plan to ever exist
+Blind Wave I'm glad you guys are still going with the GOT reactions, I can't wait for you two to power through season 5 then sweet summer child Calvin can delve with us into the horrors to come in season 6. keep up the brilliant content guys.
I just finished this episode and i cried when ygritte died just because u could tell jon really loved her :(
How do the Night's Watch like their women?
*Draw Bows*
LLLOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSEE!!!
i miss ygritte so much
Fuck Ygritte
i was away in amsterdam for a week and i couldn't wait to caught up on my game of thrones reactions but you guys do a fantastic job to make me laugh keep it up.
You say you can't blame Olly because Ygritte killed his parents, but do you really think he even recognised Ygritte? It's night and he's fifty feet away across a chaotic, fiery battleground - he just sees a wildling about to shoot one of his brothers.
They definitely spend more than a million per episode, probably around 6-8 million an episode, especially episodes like this one.
the Alamo of game of thrones.
Jon was fucking epic this ep, agree one of my faves, 9:06 EPIC
I know I'm coming to these reactions pretty late, but fun bit of trivia: The actors who played John and Ygritte (forgot their names at the moment) eventually got married in real life. Still are, as far as I know. :)
I know I'm a year late to these videos, big fucking deal.
This is my favorite "holy fucking god" episode, because the sheer scale of the episode makes everything feel so cramped and contained but also so massive and epic. It's incredible
The only thing i was thinking at 8:57 was that elf was just trying to make a Jon Snow pop #ElfsNeedHealthCare
It actually costs about 8 million dollars on average per episode.
I rarely watch the analysis after a reaction episode ends because they're just repeating themselves. But you guys are great!
I love this episode more every time I watch it. As you said, it's like Helm's Deep of GoT.
This is a great way to start the day!!! Great work!
Okay, so truly Ygrittes death was the saddest moment for me. Like red wedding was upsetting. But Ygrittes death actually made me painfully sad when I saw it. But we can't really expect for a crow and a wildling to have an easy chance at a relationship
i loved it when she died
Lord Vader same! She killed innocent people like she deserved that
I agree, I hated how she killed a young boy's parents right in front of him.
Love the edit and the reactions, keep the amazing work!
15:16 Sneaky Eric.
You guys, especially Calvin really broke my ears ;3
But well, it was worth it.
Calvin is still kind of a sweet summer child. Cheering when the wildings were killed. He does not realize the real threat, aka the White Walkers.
That being said, I still really enjoyed his reactions most of the time, especially with the giants, and Jon´s fight with the Thenn
He will loose his sh&te next week, 1) when the army shows up from nowhere, lol that will be funny! 2) Cersei telling the truth to Tywin 3)Danny locking her dragons 4)Bran meeting the Children of the Forest and Bloodraven 5)Brienne vs The Hound 6)Tyrion escaping 7)Tyrion killing Shae 8)Tyrion killing Tywin (a biggy) 9) Arya finally going to Braavos
Almost every f***ing scene!! Eric, this one will be harder! We know you can do it =)
A little piece of trivia for this episode: Rose Leslie (Ygritte) is actually highborn, she grew up in a castle in Scotland
Cudos on the editing of this reaction! it was awesome! :)
8:38 ""МОЧИ, МОЧИ" ахахах)
Season 4 is so fucking awesome. I cannot fucking believe season 3 and season 4 are all part of one book (book 3). That has to be one of the best fictional books of all time without question considering what it encompasses. Dear God.
I'm dying to see Calvin's reaction to what happens next episode... also when you guys watch last episode of season 5, please watch the fan "alternate" ending to last episode
best reaction so far...just awesome
I love this episode it’s one of my favorites!
Jon learned how to fight dirty with the legend, Karl F*cikn’ Tanner - paid off beautifully in this episode. Props to the show runners when the show actually made sense. 👍
This was actually the first episode of GoT I ever saw.
Awesome reactions, guys.
Please react to Game of Thrones Bad Lip Reading! :D
Oh Shit ... It's about to go down! XD
I never was into GOT when it started, never bothered. I saw an advert for season 4, and it showed that clip of the giant shooting that first arrow which shattered the tower....that was the moment I knew I had to watch this. So fuken cool
Hey Eric, could you try post the reaction to full episodes, but have the actual footage fade in and out occasionally to adhere to the 10 minute guideline?
For example, we still see the entire reaction, but might not see the footage (might still hear it though?)
Better. Podcast your full reactions with a marker so we can watch on our own with your commentary. Then it's not illegal at all. I pay for HBO, I just want to rewatch the series with you guys. That'd be so much fun.
Waiting until next weekend for one of the best episodes, 4x10, is gonna be so hard ._.
One of the best episodes if i do say so myself!
Your editing job must've been so hard! I'm subscribing as a means of support!
That look at 15:20
Calvin's reaction at 9:08 was amazing....haha
This is the best episode in the entire series
my second favorite battle episode
"Fuck it, he is Batman" HOW DARE YOU ERIC? jajaja
best episode so far
You can say whatever about Alistair but at least he fought and wasn't a coward
2:26 i love how you imitate Sam xD
9:08 when you finally get to finish 🤣
Surprised Eric knows the Bacon Pancake song. Man I wish they would react to Adventure Time
the wall was built to protect the walkers from that cook
Hey Eric! actually, while most episodes cost one million, this one costed them 7 million!!
+rakan alshubat They have about 60 million dollars budget per season, so that's about 6 mil/episode, this episode was definitely more expensive though. Btw budget included paying the actors etc.
Hold the Door!
wait...
wrong episode
And in the next episode: "and then a hero comes along…" ;)
Let's see if Detective Calvin can figure out who it is in the early moments lol
I miss Ygritte
At least Jon got a piece of that ginger minge before it was too late.
calvin know scythe before watching episode, he have done his preparations.
The death of Pip was way sadder than Ygritte's.
the 4th season is the best, it has a great pacing, unlike the others.
Florin Zam Well honestly I think the first season just edges out 4 in terms of perfect pacing, but they are easily the two best seasons in my view. My favorite episodes in the show are still in 5 and 6 tho.
just wait till 5x8(hardhome)! I think it's even better :D
Can't wait till season finale!
After season 5 maybe you could react to some alt shift x (or preston jacobs) GoT theories?
Also if season 6 doesn't answer R+L=J you should react to Film Theory: Jon Snow is THE KEY to Game of Thrones.
One of the best reactions!
Eric is there any chance of releasing the unedited footage with the show at the bottom so we can watch along as this is my favourite episode of the whole series.
Kevakazii I meant without, not with lol.
Episode 4-10 is perhaps the most hopeful ending in the series. Which of course is a perfect set up for the mood reversal in season 5. Need a longer reaction since it's a longer episode. Calvin will lose his shit with Tywin.
I have a lot of problems with this battle. Why not put everyone on top of the wall? Drop fire from both sides, who cares about castle black, just block off the tunnel, or use fire in there. Use fire in the tunnel against the giant, no more giant. Use pikes against the giant while he is tryign to lift the inner gate. Where are the spears? No formations? Do they practice all day for random chaotic fights? Castle Black seems to have walls designed for a kids fort. What 10 feet tall? Lots of wood? Are you kidding me?! No moat, no high stone walls, no one tried to prevent people from climbing. Call it what it is, a fort. Its not even close to a castle. Once again you see almost no shields, not many helms. (helm is the most important armor to have if you have nothing else). By the way you don't just slice through someone leather armor and they fall down. Armor works, and it works well. Don't get me started on armor in this show.
Because they have to hold all of the wildlings from going South
Alright then this happens, wildlings from south open the tunnel entrance in castle and they will also have the control of the lift to go up and down the wall and Night's Watch is f*cked
*****
Good points, but the point about living there is kinda funny since many if not most are now dead. When your life is at stake you run and find a defensive position. Worry about your bedroom later. I blame the leaders, those men have nothing but time on their hands, they should have made the walls better and higher and practiced for sieges. Just an embarassing failure for the Watch.
They're just criminals posing security guards fighting against sadistic people.
for s5e9 will the thumbnail be calvins 'wtf stannis' face or his 'look DRAGONS!' face?
that thumbnail though.
I can't wait to watch Calvin suffer through Dorne as I did lol
